I love this studio! First off, very nice inside, lots of plants & snacks. I first went to Hy, & since then have been back multiple times for tattoos by them. I’ve never laughed so much with an artist before— second i went to Jamie, & they did a larger size piece on my elbow. It is a tricky space to stencil on, but Jamie kept doing it until we got it just right, multiple times. I really appreciated not feeling rushed here & feeling like both artists I went to cared about everything so much & took their time with everything. I’ll be back for sure.

I dont have words flattering enough for Robyn and her shop. I felt calm and cared for my entire visit. This was the first of 2 sessions and I really look forward to the next one to add the color. I have been tattooed by both Jamie Stocks and Hy Amenero.This studio is so wonderful--everyone who works here is so friendly and kind. I feel especially safe here as a trans person (and for Utah, I think that says a lot about a business).Jamies work is stunning and they are always so kind throughout the entire tattoo process.Jamie took so much consideration into the designs they did for me and their excitement when I came to them with what I wanted made it that much more special. Laura did a great job on my rather difficult tattoo and the studio was absolutely lovely. It was a very comfortable and chill space to get first tattoo and she was super nice and professional. Would definitely go back again.

I go to Elena for all of my ink work & i am just OBSESSED with what she does . ive been going to her since she was an apprentice & will always be her loyal client ! the amount of detail she puts into every piece she does is insane & i love how comfortable she makes me feel everytime im in her chair . i gave her a picture of my cats for my newest piece & she made it look as close to the real pic as possible ! 100/10 would recommend seeing her for your next tattoo !

Jamie is the best artist and all around human!! They are so incredibly talented and whether it’s your first or 50th tattoo they go above and beyond to give every client the most enjoyable tattoo experience. I went to Jamie for my first tattoo last summer. I was very nervous with it being my first tattoo but Jamie made me feel so comfortable from the moment I reached out to them. They answered all of my questions, prepared me for what to expect and once I arrived they were welcoming and easy to talk to. Jamie took a few examples that I had sent them and made it a million times better. The colors, the detail… everything was perfect. I felt zero pain and I continue to get compliments almost daily! I got some BEAUTIFUL tattoos from Elena and I am just so impressed with her level of skill! She truly is a hidden gem in SLC. I got an adorable set of hummingbirds on my should and a leafy plant going up my spine. She was so helpful in making sure I felt comfortable and that they were exactly what I wanted and I could not have asked for a better experience. They are healing great and she has a really cool approach to make it less painful. It was 100% worth it and I cant wait to get more from her! I will post the photos when they are fully healed :)

She is Uber talented, works in a number of different styles and really collaborates artistically with her clients.Not only that but Ember Steel is a lovely space, the vibes are welcoming, friendly and has amazingly talented artists who all have a great rapport with each other. Best tattoo shop! I recently got tatted from Monica and it was my 3rd tattoo I’ve gotten from them! Monica’s flash is my all time favorite, their designs are unique and creative and I’m obsessed with their art. All of my tattoos from them have been amazing quality and heal without issues. Monica’s very professional and always makes my appointments fun and relaxing with good conversations and I love their studio set up. I just recently got a frog skeleton done by them and I especially appreciated their patience with placing the stencil so my tattoo would turn out perfect. They take their time with every tattoo and I’ve never felt rushed at my appointments. Overall 12/10 experience and will be back!

I got two tattoos from Jamie and could not be happier with both my experience and with my tattoos. These were my first two tattoos and Jamie took the time and care to explain everything and make me feel as comfortable as possible. I really love this shop. The staff are so kind and accommodating, and all of the plants and air purifiers keep the energy very calm. I was tattooed my Jamie, and they are just the kindest soul, and their tattoos are amazing! I want to gatekeep people from Jamie so they don’t get so booked out, but other people should experience them as well!!

Like most of her customers, I have been going to Jaime Jude Stocks for years. After my last two tattoos which were incredible I asked Jaime to help me with a really important one. Not only did she help me with my devotional tattoo for the goddess I asked for , she went above and beyond in the creation ; she took the time to do research and asked questions to get it to a place that was perfect . Jaime is a great artist with incredible lines and shading and she invites a safety within her space where you can be yourself and just chill. Jaime aims to create someplace where everyone is accepted and heard and continues with open communication throughout the process. If you ever have the chance to get a tattoo from her , I highly recommend it.

Monica was amazing! I had a pretty bad experience the last time I got a tattoo, and was nervous but she made it such a great experience. She was clean and efficient, as well as just fun to talk to! Not to mention her art being gorgeous. She was even accommodating when we couldn’t get the shading done this session. I cannot give higher praises, but she deserves them!

This studio space is amazing as are the artists. I love that they are very covid conscious as well. I have been tattooed here twice by Laura who did an amazing lion piece for me. I scheduled with her again to keep adding on to my sleeve because her artistic style and personality are amazing. Would definitely recommend!

I love my tattoo. Monica is great!Edit: this original review still stands as some of the artists that work here or used to work here are amazing. However, one of the owners spouted some qanon pipeline stuff to me during an appointment and was also transphobic. I wasnt sure if I should ever say anything but given as this place is fairly popular and touted as a women owned, safe space for queer people I feel like clients should at least know it might not be as safe as thought.

When you go under the needle you want a place that is sparkling clean and makes you feel at ease, along with artists who communicate about how to make your piece look the best and what to expect. EmberSteel is where I got that experience!

I did not have a good experience here today. I had a tattoo appointment with Laura today and it did not go well at all. Last night, I reached out and verified the appointment was still good to go. She said yes and texted me a picture of the drawing she had ready to add onto an existing tattoo. I decided I didn’t completely like it and sent her a picture of what I did want. I didn’t hear back from her, and I assumed she was busy, which is understandable.Today, I walked in and she asked me about my text and I confirmed what I did want. She said something along the lines of, “Well, that’s not what I drew.” I tried to sound kind when I asked if that was a problem.She then looked at me for a moment and then told me that she was going to give me my deposit back. She did and I told her that I’m more than happy to work with her.To this, she said she didn’t have the patience to do this and we already had to reschedule and I’d given her a hard time about that. (We had rescheduled because she reached out to me expressing the pain she was in. I did tell that I was honestly frustrated with the reschedule because my sister had worked around my schedule so that I could go to my niece’s birthday party in Logan. I also told her I was sorry to hear about the pain and that I’d pray for her.)Anyway, I felt it was unprofessional to bring it up. I told her that I’d like to work on this with her and she quickly said, “No,” and went to the door and held it open and waited for me to leave. I told her God bless and left. I am sorry for all of what she is dealing with but I will not be back nor will I recommend this place or artist.

Monica was such a friendly person! I’m not much of a talker so after our introductions, she just worked her magic while i relaxed. 12/10 experience! She is such a good artist!

Unfortunately, I had scheduled a tattoo consultation for today May 1. It was confirmed for today at noon my friend and I showed up, there was no one there I tried calling the tattoo owner and text her and no reply. I live 40 minutes away so it’s not like this was a close drive plus gas is extremely expensive. This is unfortunate because we were really looking forward to working with the owner of Ember tattoo. Very unprofessional. At least a text to let us know why you can’t show up before I drive all the way there.

I got a tattoo from Monica back in March, and it was awesome! Very sweet to work with and everyone was very accommodating and welcoming. I hope to get in to have another tattoo soon!

Gorgeous new studio with some of the best artists and tattooists in Salt Lake City! The shop is uber clean and professional. I highly recommend this shop, whether you live in SLC or will be visiting soon. However, their schedules do get full, so call ahead and get your design ideas in early!

The artist here are open and honest. If they cannot do what you want they will recommend another. They are also honest about where things fit and what looks good too.
