I’ve had the same diamond stud in it for the past 30 years, a gift from my bucho in Japan, and a few days ago… it came out and I lost it.So I came to The Powers That Be to get something new. Right choice. Brooke went over my choices with care, grace, and intuition. She understood exactly what I wanted, what enlargement my current hole would accept and fit me into her schedule immediately.The space was immaculately clean, elegant, and creative. The process was respectful and painless. I had an amazing experience here at The Powers That Be! Their website is beautiful and easy to navigate which made scheduling my appointment so easy. All of their prices are clearly listed and its easy to find their policies so I wasnt confused about anything at all.The shop is such a vibe and I really appreciated how clean and private it was. My piercer, Rachael, was able to sit down with me and answer all my questions about the piercing I wanted and the jewelry options they offered.The actual piercing process was explained to me in detail and done in like 15 minutes with minimal pain. Rachael was great at making the process as comfortable and easy as possible and I know Ill definitely be coming back.I 100% recommend coming here, the piercers know what theyre doing and they provide an amazing service which made me feel great on my way out.Your money is well spent at The Powers That Be

I scheduled an ear piercing with Kellan today and went in nervous as a newbie to piercing. Kellan was unbelievably patient with me, spending hours selecting the perfect placement on my ear for my face structure and making sure I was comfortable. My ears look absolutely perfect and I couldn’t be happier, blown away with their professionalism, expertise in identifying the perfect placement for each individual client, and their dedication to ensuring the client was happy, even if it took hours to get the right fit. Couldn’t recommend them highly enough, this is the cream of the crop if you’re looking to get any piercing.

Absolutely love this place. My piercer was so sweet and so professional. I could tell right off the bat they knew exactly what they were doing. I got my anti eyebrow done recently and there has been zero bruising, swelling, or pain. They’re very direct with information and have a lot of knowledge about what ur getting done as well.

Im from Seattle and I stopped in here on a whim while in town just to look at nose jewelry. Kellen was manning the storefront and we got to talking and before I knew it he was sizing my hoop (correctly for the first time in years!!) and I learned how much better my jewelry could look once properly sized to my nose- Ive had my piercings for 6 or 7 years at this point and seen plenty of piercers, no one has ever expressed interest in sizing my hoop & post. Kellen was so unbelievably helpful and informative- he even showed me how my original piece was bent and paired with an oversized post which is why it never sat right in the hole. I decided to buy a new piece of (handmade!!!) jewelry from him and have it shipped to me...and wouldnt you know he called me a couple hours later saying it was already done so I could have it before I went home to Seattle. I went back and he put it in that same night, its so beautiful and Im so happy with the look and the quality. Im so incredibly impressed at his willingness to provide such friendly and accommodating customer service. Anyone wanting a piercing shouldnt think twice about going to Kellen!! Ive already decided to get another piercing just so I can go back and benefit from his excellent work and extensive knowledge. Vancouver has a true gem of a piercer, I hope they know this!!

I highly recommend The Powers That Be for anyone even interested in getting a piercing. They are professional yet make you feel comfortable while you are there. Just awesome people. I somewhat spontaneously decided I wanted a helix piercing, but didnt know exactly what I was looking for. Kellan drew out several options on my ear for spots that I was well suited for piercing. On top of that, they have a beautiful and high quality jewelry selection. I will definitely be back in the future!

I’ve come here for a few piercings and a cheek dermal removal. I was so nervous getting my dermal removed but they made me feel comfortable and it ended up being a piece of cake! They also helped put in an old industrial piercing that I had no idea was healed over well. I wish I got a name so I could say thank you specifically! Absolutely hands down an amazing experience. My wife got pierced here a few weeks ago and had an amazing experience as well, so i decided to have my piercing done here too. Rachel answered all our questions and made us both feel extremely comfortable(considering the sensitive and personal areas we had pierced). I absolutely love this place! I got my septum pierced which was my first piercing as an adult (had my ears pierced at 4 years old but I dont remember that haha) so I was a little nervous but Kellan was awesome! super friendly, explained everything as we went, was super sanitary about everything (even replacing his gloves because he touched his mask for half a second) and just made the whole process smooth and easy. The shop itself is also clean, has a great environment, and beautiful jewelry to pick from. I cant recommend this place enough!

Rachel was my piercer and she was wonderful !! she was cool and i felt very comfortable around her and with getting my snake bites :D she was also very informative and made me feel more confident and less nervous about getting pierced, especially since it was my very first time. i would highly recommend this place to anybody.

Impeccably clean, Single owner, very personal experience. My son got his tongue pierced for his 16th birthday. My son had tons of questions. He was very knowledgeable, patient, and attentive to my sons mind, emotions, and physical reactions to a first timer piercing. It truly was the best experience I could ask for myself, or my child. Super quick and easy appointment for my first ear piercings in over 10 years. I was so pleased to get sterilized titanium earrings!!! I’m allergic to everything else. I loved the entire selection it was hard to choose. I also liked that I was given a spray bottle to clean the ears. The staff are amazing, friendly, and knowledgeable . I met the owner and his gal at my work. I had piercings before, but they saw one side was uneven and fixed the placement. I also love their decor inside, it’s a very neat clean studio! Will definitely be coming back for more.

This shop is extremely clean and professional, with a nice aesthetic inside. The lovely woman working the front (forgot her name, Im sorry) was very sweet and clear about pricing and policy. Kellen was amazing! I was referred to him because it was a trickier piercing and he showed his confidence and knowledge when working with me. I felt extremely secure in his abilities. He has great communication about what to expect and great small talk for a comfortable environment. I have no doubts about the sterile process regarding the equipment and the piercing process. Kellen was also very clear and informative about the after care of this piercing. It is really nice to know that I can come to him with any questions and issues during the healing process. I was a bit nervous as I havent had a piercing in many many years. Lexi was so friendly and helpful when I got there and showed me many different options for jewelry and held them up for me so I could ensure I was making the right choice. This place is great! I have gone a few times now and they are amazing. They are big on covid precautions which makes me feel safe and the store is clean as well as beautiful. The staff are friendly and highly knowledgeable and offered expert care advice when I ran into issues healing from a piercing. Piercing changes are always comfortable and easy here!

What an amazing experience. I took my daughter here to get her ears pierced for the first time. We were supposed to get them pierced for her birthday this summer but due to the pandemic we delayed and hunkered down. This outing was one little special glimmer to the isolation we have been in and we are so thankful for the care provided and the experience.Kellan and Sam were so friendly and patient with my daughter and the whole experience was relaxed and calm as if meeting with old friends. This has, by far, been the best piercing experience Ive ever had. Everyone here is friendly and knowledgeable. I was pierced by Kellen (sp?), who put so much effort and time into getting my piercing placement for my double nostril piercing just right. I have definitely found my piercing spot! The shop was so cute and clean, masks and sanitizer required for our collective safety (a major plus for me) and Kellen was AMAZING!! Just got home from this place, and cannot say enough good things. The shop was so clean and such an inviting space, compared to a lot of other shops I’ve been to. Made me feel confident in my choice to get pierced there. They show you that the jewelry was sterilized properly before piercing you with it, my piercer walked me through all of the steps prior to piercing so there were no surprises, made me feel super comfortable for a rather uncomfortable piercing and really calmed my nerves. I cannot Speak highly enough of this place. Would definitely recommend to all my friends. :)

SUCH a skilled and knowledgeable piercing studio! Kellan took his time with the placement of my second nostril, made sure it lined up with my other piercings and checked and measured and re-checked from all angles, and it was worth it because the piercing looks great and was as comfortable and (relatively) painless of a process as possible! WOW!! I called into see prices for a nose piercing and schedule and appointment and the lady who I spoke with, Jennifer, was so helpful and kind. The piercer, Kellan (I believe that’s how you spell it), was super informative and went over all the information with my parent and I. He showed the sterilized utensils and made the whole experience feel super lightweight and easy! I was greeted by Sam, who helped me pick out the appropriate jewelry for my needs, and walked me through the process of being pierced there. She was super kind and super informative. What can I say except this place is hands down the best. Kellan pierced our daughters ears three years ago and took time to talk to her and treat her like a person. Recently my wife had her nose double pierced and he did equally amazing! Cannot recommend this studio and Kellan enough - please do yourself a favor and go to people that know what they are doing, before, during, and most importantly after your piercing!

Fantastic. Super easy to schedule. Clean facility, beautiful jewelry, amazing service. I have intense metal allergies the implant grade titanium jewelry was amazing. They are limiting people in and out of the shop as its only staffed with open person at a time.

Both incredibly friendly and incredibly professional! They helped me set up an appointment as a birthday present for my girlfriend and it was perfect. They had no issue letting her lay down to get pierced (she gets light-headed) and even gave her water and a snack afterwards. Kaylyn was so kind, and scrupulously careful about keeping everything sterile. Girlfriend was delighted with her piercings, and well definitely be returning here when she wants more!

THIS IS THE BEST PIERCING PLACE - EVER.I’ve been coming to The Powers That Be since they opened their old location. I love them so much there. They are such a warm and inclusive environment that totally makes you feel safe and comfortable, which isn’t always the vibe with piercers haha. There are some shops that act like they’re too cool for you, and you will NOT be treated with that (unfortunately) typical condescending passive aggression at The Powers That Be. You’ll be treated with love and care! 💖😌 I really appreciate how they take their time with you through the entire process of picking out the jewelry, the exact placement, the actual piercing, and all the rest that comes with healing.I got my Medusa pierced a couple months ago, but in the last week something happened where my piercing was NOT happy. She was swollen like a balloon. It looked like a botched lip injection job lol, but that was at my own fault with my aftercare. 😅 I had reached out to the shop, and they super quickly got back to me and fit me in that day to switch out to a longer piercing while dealing with the swelling. After actually consistently following Kellan’s (the owner) after care instructions, my piercing was better again!They also have the prettiest jewelry - not to mention that they make their own jewelry too! Came in a few weeks ago to get my Tragus pierced, and was the MOST wonderful experience I have ever had at any piercing shop!! Such a clean, and professional process. The piercer knew exactly what he was doing & was very helpful educating me for future piercings I was looking at getting and took the time to help me find what would work best with my ears, since they are a little bit smaller. 10/10 would recommend you truly get your money’s worth, and they are so friendly!

I loved this place! From the open floor plan and room to the professionalism and kindness of the workers. I felt like I kept repeating myself lol, but I just wanted to make sure I do everything correctly and he didn’t even roll an eye! Went to get my lip re-pierced after almost 6 years. Everyone was super nice and helpful. Had Kaylyn doing my piercing and she discover that I didnt even need to piece it again since it was still open. All she had to do was stretch it with a taper and put the jewelry in. So nice of her to give that option so I didnt have to pay the piercing fee. Will definitely recommend to anyone!

10/10, well never go anywhere again as long as this shop is around! Their shop is incredibly clean, the staff is really nice, and their selection is pretty great. My almost 6yo wanted his ears pierced, so we took him to Kellan. A while back I went with my friend to see him when she got her nose done, so I knew he was awesome. They had a pinball machine for us to play while we waited, and were so patient and kind with the kiddos. My son is kind of shy, but he was happy to chat with Kellan. We chose jewelry and they made sure to show us after they sterilized it. He was really patient when my son got nervous, honest with him about what to expect, and distracted him by discussing his current favorite show (Futurama 😂) while I turned it on my phone. It was over quickly and the placement was perfect.Quote directly from my son: Whenever I need new earrings I only want to go there. Hes SO NICE.

Update 2 years on* small edit to say this piercing has never caused me issue in the 2 years Ive had it and Ive recieved many compliments on the placement*Had the cartilage at the top of my ear pieced (industrial) here last month. Hardly had any issues with soreness / pain. A week out today from the piercing being a month old and it hardly gives me any trouble, even though this peircing has been known to take quite a bit of time to heal. Happy with the healing and after care advice as well as the placement selected for the peircing.

Aesthetic: clean and bright with beautiful displays of covetous jewelry and always good music playing. Kellan is such a wonderful human and a skillful piercer. Such a soothing and personable demeanor, he explained all the steps he took and was very gentle and super hygienic. He took the time to draw on my ears so I could see how different piercings would look and gave his honest opinion about which ones might esthetically work the best. I had such an AMAZING experience today getting my nostril and septum done. I had gotten my nostril repierced and then my septum stretched. Both things are painful and not fun whatsoever but Kellan was so awesome and made me feel tuff as heck! Jennifer was so kind and patient with the jewelry picking process as well.Theyre both very knowledgable and great at what they do. I came in 2 minutes to close without realizing (that person everyone usually hates lol) for a replacement nose ring. The staff was extremely kind, professional, and thorough with me even still. I’m very impressed with the jewelry and especially the customer service. Shop is extremely clean, he sanitized everything he touched as he went. I’m terrible and forgot his name but the gentlemen with the unalom brand on his chest (Kallen?) made my night great/my nose happy! 10/10 would recommend. They also do body scarring! V cool. Kellan is a caring piercer and just a super rad guy. He did a double nostril piercing for me and took the time to make sure everything looked perfectly balanced from all angles. The piercing itself was stress free and he gave great tips on keeping it clean so it healed quickly and properly. But lets talk about the bling... this shop has beautiful, quality jewelry!Awesome space, great tunes, pinball, super rad people. My nose ring fell out and I happened upon this shop right next to my favorite lunch place. Very clean, staff was awesome! Great price and love the style! Constantly having to adjust the little loop back into my nose was gross and embarrassing, they used studs that have a little flat back, works perfect. Trying to figure out my next piercing so I can go back lol!!

Really amazing and helpful staff! Kaylyn assisted me with getting a continuous ring out of my septum, and it went much easier than the insertion. They have free pinball. I look forward to returning for new stabby decorations in the very near future. 11/10 would have metal bent here again.

I got my double nostirl pierced here and it was quite an amazing experience. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the customer service is on point. They have a wide selection of body jewelery from titanium to rose gold. Very much will come back for more piercing needs. Price is more than fair for service and quality.

On February 12th I had an appointment to remove a piercing (Heidi) made me aware its an implant. In 2018 when the owner pierced me he did not tell me that if I choose to remove the piercing in the future it would be difficult and VERY painful. If this disclaimer had been explained to me I would not have done this piercing. I reached out on instagram and thought I would be messaging the owner directly about the horror of treatment that Heidi inflicted me with and I have not heard back. Not only was Heidi rude to me when I first got there and I ignored my intuition to not proceed with her, but she had no idea what she was doing when she attempted to remove my piercing VERY unsuccessfully, trying to cut it off and making me bleed alot and not giving me any apology, no tissue to wipe the area or empathy. I am really disappointed at the owner for not contacting me about to help resolve the issue and I either have to be stuck with a piercing that makes me emotionally uncomfortable or try and see a surgeon to try and remove this.

Ive admired cartilage piercings since the late 90s, but never seriously considered one for myself. Too edgy, too painful, too not-me. Id only ever had my lobes pierced and stretched. Lately, however, Ive been really thinking of getting a cartilage piercing. But which one? Daith? Helix? Industrial? Orbital? Rook? Snug? Tragus? So many possibilities! I finally decided on a rook piercing. Unusual, yet not obvious. I started looking at reviews of piercing studios in the Portland area. Lots of good ones down in Portland, but I dont like driving across the river. Then I stumbled on The Powers That Be. Located in Vancouver, an APP certified member, a portfolio of Kellans work on Instagram, and I liked how Kellans personality jumped out of the photos and videos. Id made my decision.I called and talked to Jennifer, she was so sweet and patient answering all my stupid questions, so I booked an appointment for the following day.I show up to my appointment super early, and I was a bundle of nerves. Kellan was so warm and calm though, that I quickly felt better. He examined my ears and confirmed I was well suited for a rook piercing. As we were waiting for the autoclave to process my jewelry we looked at pictures of piercings Id saved to my phone that I was interested in. Kellan explained how each would or would not work on my ears, and offered alternatives. He took a marker and drew dots, circles, and lines all over my ears and took a picture of each ear so I could think about what piercings I might want for the future. I really enjoyed Kellan taking the time to connect with me and work on a consultation like that. Of course he explained the procedure for piercing my rook and the aftercare required. I was rather impressed he wanted me to come back in a month so he could see how it was healing. (Maybe thats standard for a reputable piercing studio, but it had never occurred to me they might follow similar procedures to a doctors office.)The piercing room looked just like a doctors exam room. Clean, professional, sanitary. Now it was time. A deep breath in, a deep breath out and the needle slides through followed by the barbell. Huh, that was it? Id gotten myself all worked up and nervous over... well, not nothing... but Ive had stubbed toes and banged elbows that hurt worse than that.The shop itself is clean, beautiful, and spacious.Overall, this was a great experience and I would highly recommend Kellan Smiths The Powers That Be for your next piercing!

I got my nose pierced at another shop and the metal was so bad and got infected . Came here he was so sweet and switched out the jewelry for me with titanium and cleaned it up for me and explained how to let it heal since it was infected from a different shop. I will always come here from now on.
