This is one of the best piercing places Ive ever been to - couldnt recommend enough! Michael was polite, professional, attentive, and helped me pick out the correct jewelry and piercing for my anatomy. Its close by the the Dupont Circle Station, and is a clean, upscale piercing spot for anyone looking for some new work done! Thank you so much!!

Mikey is the best tattoo artist I have come across. I got my arms done in SD and they’re Ok, but Mikey is hands down the best. Super chill guy who wants you to have the best experience possible.I was upfront with how I wanted full torso front and back. We discussed the feasibility of certain tattoos or places. If you know exactly what you want, Mikey will be the best artist to create that image. If you are more carefree, Mikey’s freehand is mind boggling.Whenever I’m walking around DC with my shirt off everyone stops to compliment my tattoos, especially my dog portraits. I think my dog portraits meant the most to me but I wasn’t scared of the pain at all because I knew I was in good hands.The overall expertise once you’re in is the best you can find. He’ll bend over backwards to try to make your tattoo the best in DC, whether it’s small or a massive back piece.Finally, Mikey doesn’t pressure you to do certain tattoos or not do the ones you want. You just can’t find someone as receptive and transparent as Mikey.I’m going back for some more work this week and I can’t wait. It will be a sad day when I run out of room for ink.Every tattoo hurts, but it’s worth it at Fattys. Mikey is good at agreeing on price before you start and working with you to get the best bang for your buck.I’m going back in a few days and I can’t wait for Mikey to get rid of my empty space on my back/side.

I finally had an appointment with Micheal to get my Daith piercing and it was a wonderful experience. He was very helpful and informative throughout the entire process. He ordered some beautiful jewelry for my Tragus earring swap and a beautiful earring for my new Daith piercing. I was a bit nervous about getting my piercing but Michael assured me it would be fine. Micheal was very quick and honestly the piercing didn’t hurt at all. There was just a quick bit of discomfort while placing the earring in. I highly recommend Michael 🙌🏾 10/10 highly skilled!!!!!

Thanks so much to Mikey for coming in on his day off just to do this piece for me before I went back home. He did an amazing job and went above and beyond to make this happen for me. He then made sure I got a ride back to my airbnb, since we finished so late, and had me text him when I got home to know I got there safely! Who else does that? No one, thats who! Thanks again Mikey, I will definitely come back and get more ink done if I am back in town! I cant say enough good things about him and his skills!

They’re extremely professional I just don’t like that there’s no phone number all inquires are via email only. I’ve gone to two other piercing shops and they couldn’t remove the top of my dermal so I could change it. Michael is definitely an expert at piercings. It wasn’t a comfortable experience but he warned me before hand that it wouldn’t be, but assured me that he could get the top off which he did!

Michael was awesome! Fabulous experience getting a floating navel piercing done. I had gone to a previous shop that was unsure if they could do it due to my anatomy + needed longer/special jewelry. I showed to up Fatty’s and they already had everything they needed + Michael was very informed on how to manage my specific anatomy! He was super chill and fun, great conversationalist. I’m easily intimidated in tattoo/piercing shops, but Michael was so warm and immediately made me feel totally comfortable. The shop is super professional and friendly — they’ve won a lot of “Best in DC” awards, and I can certainly see why! (For price ref: Piercing was $60 and jewelry was $55 for me)

Super clean, immaculate vibes, quick efficient service, and awesome people! I came in to re-pierce my lobes and Michael was fantastic throughout the entire process. He was very patient and walked me through the various options available to me. I’m definitely pleased and would highly recommend this location and Michael as well!

I’m from out of town and had to find a replacement tongue piercing (cause I ate mine by accident hush) and this was the only place close enough for me to get one. It’s a lil hard to find tbh but we walked into Michael while he was walking out and running late for something but he took the time out of his day to help me and put in a piercing for me even tho he was busy. I didn’t make an appointment or anything and I was so extremely grateful for this man!! I would def make an appointment out of respect but he is AMAZING and if I lived here I would definitely go here for anything I needed!!

Contacted them about coming in for a jewelry change to downsize posts in piercings I had gotten before I moved to this area. They told me the type of appointment to book and it requires a credit card to hold the reservation in case you are a no show. The piercer them reached out to me via text the day of appointment to ask what size I needed, and what size I currently had and I wasnt sure, but I made it clear i was planning to keep the diamond stud fronts and just replace the posts. He asked for pictures which I sent and he said he would have something smaller. I showed up to my appointment on time, and then he says they only have push ins, not screw ins which is what my jewelry is (he never asked during the multiple texts prior to me going in). So I said that push ins wouldnt work for me anyway because I get this piercing caught on my hair a lot and it would likely pull out, and that I was pretty clear I wanted to keep my studs. I left and they still charged my credit a few days later. i tried reaching out and they never responded.

Micheal is a great and very knowledgeable piercer. He answered all my questions thoughtfully. I was 5 minutes late, but he did not rush me out for my 15 minute appointment. He was clearly busy that day, but he was very kind and gentle with my piercing. Thanks Micheal!

I got a basic ear piercing here and it was great! The guy who did it was super professional and made me feel calm. I had minimal pain and was able to be in and out in 15 minutes and go on with my day afterwards. Cute earring options as well.

Gabe was an absolute rockstar - Im glad that the consultation took longer than the actual procedure; it meant that he took the time and effort to ensure I was comfortable with the design, size, etc. before the actual inking.The process was smooth, he was conversational, open and transparent and didnt hesitate reapplying the stencil as many times as required to get the right alignment.Thanks, Gabe!

Very disappointing experience. Booked an appointment 2 weeks in advanced just for them to tell me AFTER i show up for my appointment that my piercer had been fired and that I won’t be getting serviced. Considering the fact that they charge you for not showing up it’s crazy i was only offered a rebook (which i don’t have time for). You can’t even call ahead to make sure everything is okay for your appointment…

Today marks my second time coming here for a piercing. I went in to get two piercings today and Michael did an amazing job! He worked so quickly and efficiently, I’m glad I came here again! Michael made my longtime dream of getting my eyebrow and septum pierced come true. I’m over the moon with the results of his work and plan to come back if I get any more piercings!

I highly recommend Michael for piercings! He did my ears and septum, was patient with all my questions, and made me comfortable during the process. I just went back 2 months after healing to have my septum changed and he ordered the specific piece I wanted, was great at communicating options and prices of different pieces, and was super flexible in coordinating the appointment. I had an amazing experience and really appreciate all his help!

It was a great experience, the whole process of piercing was quick so I didnt feel pain，Michael was very attentive and patient. Ive had many piercings but this was definitely the best experience.

Despite my flighty arrival, Matt was patient & kind, not only with me, also with the flood of people who came in immediately after (weirdly lots of daiths) & the people on the phone AND was helpful in his (excellent & appropriate) suggestions & guidance to a person wanting a tattoo but non-committal in her aesthetic tastes. Michelle(? god I hope thats right) did 2 piercings for me that I already love, and was such great fun to talk with, the kind of person whom you just...would pay to talk to or be your friend. Like therapists wish they were. She did EXCELLENT technical work & was respectful, informative, and as sterile as you should expect a piercer to be, maybe more. Ill be back.

Talked to Elliot and he made my first tattoo a walk in the park. He does a good job with making sure you’re comfortable and his skills are great too. I suggest hitting him up and getting a tat from him.

Thought I was getting my fourth piercing done by Michael and ended up getting my fifth after we decided to do a double daith piercing instead. It looks so unique and the entire process went especially well with how he explains each step of the process to you. Its healing really nicely and I look forward to whatever my next one will be! I highly recommend coming here for a comfortable and positive experience. :)

I went there yesterday to get my daiths done by Michael, and he was great! He was friendly, funny, and really informative when I asked any questions! My right daith was a redo of a previous rejected piercing (a different piercer from a different parlor did it) and he walked me through what he had to do to repierce my daith, and they both turned out beautiful! He was gentle too (as gentle as you can be as a piercer lol). 100% recommend Michael for your piercings and Fattys DuPont Circle for their talented tattoo artists!

I went to the DuPont circle location and was pierced by Michael. It was the smoothest process ever; Michael was so fast at responding and we quickly made an appointment. When I got there, it was about 30 mins before my appointment but he said he might be able to squeeze me in, which he was able to. From then on he explained everything very clearly and was super helpful in answering my questions. I was most nervous for the piercing but Michael went straight for it and it was over before I knew it. Great place, great piercer, and I highly recommend it!!

I got my 3rd lobe pierced by Michael a few days ago and upgraded my jewelry for my first lobe. I loved him! He was so nice and personable and it was so quick and painless pretty much. We discussed styling my ear for more piercings and I couldn’t be happier and more excited to work with him again. I’ll definitely be back! This is my fifth tattoo, and third with Fattys. However, it was my first with Elliott. He is awesome! His artistry, attention to detail, and his attitude are all top-notch.I think all the artists with Fattys are good, but Ill be booking Elliott going forward!

Elliot was incredible! Did my tattoo with INCREDIBLE line work, great accuracy, not to mention I actually liked talking with the him and chit chatting so the two hours literally flew by. Next time I am in DC, def will see if he is available for any tattoo ideas 🩷 really could not be happier!

I got my piercings done by Michael about 2 weeks ago and it could not have gone better! He was incredibly considerate, answering any and all questions I had, providing clear explanations for why he chose the jewelry he did, and generally being very patient, pleasant, and enjoyable to be pierced by. I am astounded at how quickly my piercings have healed! After just a few days, I had basically no soreness and you would not even be able to tell that the piercings were new. Michael has also been super available to answer my aftercare questions over text, and has even been helping me deal with a navel piercing that I got done at a different shop that has been struggling to heal properly. Hands down the best piercing experience Ive had, and this was my 10th piercing!

Got my first tattoo here in 2019, and went back today to get 3 piercings with Michael. He’s wonderful and a lot of fun to talk to! The process was quick and simple, though not painless 😂 Thanks Michael!

I had my cartilage pierced by Michael as well as three other ear piercings done. The piercings were not well spaced and there was no attention to detail. The cartilage piercing was infected and had a bump and was so painful (despite me cleaning 3x per day) given I was told that it was pierced INCORRECTLY and at an angle by another piercing shop. I had to pay another $75 to have my cartilage repierced correctly and this time it was not at all painful.Additionally, tip is asked for BEFORE the piercing occurs which is not common in other piercing and tattoo shops given tip should depend on the level of service given..

I am blown away at just HOW OUTSTANDING the services were that I received from Michael and Mikey. I am from Florida and were visiting for the New Year. I was able to easily book an appointment for tattoos and a nostril piercing (my first) and chat with them on the customer portal beforehand. The pricing was very fair but honestly for the quality, I feel like they aren’t charging enough.Michael is hands down the BEST piercer. He was very knowledgeable, gave me supplies to clean my piercing until I made it home, and made the whole process quick and easy. I am scared of needles, funny to say, but I could barely tell he had started. He made me feel at ease and gave every customer (I watched at least 5 come in while I was being tattooed) that walked in after me the same level of stellar customer service. He listened to everyone’s wishes, gave his expert opinion on what the safest options were and pierced them at the perfect angle. Quick, easy and almost painless. Their implant grade jewelry is the best for piercings and I liked that it wasn’t about selling you some flashy expensive jewelry piece, but more of what is better for the healing process with their stock.Mikey did my tattoos and he is truly an incredible artist. My first tattoo was done carelessly and he was able to redo it while making it look fantastic. He did other cutesy tattoos for me (heart, flower, script rib tattoo, crescent moon) and he did them with such ease and precision and with the right tools to get the job done as painless as possible. He mentioned that he has been doing tattoos for 22 years and you can REALLY tell. My favorite part was how down to earth he is. If you want input on a tattoo design or what will work best, he’s there for it. He won’t shoo you out the door like most artists who just want to give you a quick tattoo. He made me feel calm and comfortable, like I could really be myself, and as a person who struggles with anxiety, I really appreciated that.It is now day 3 and I have no pain from my nostril piercing or four tattoos. I am also the biggest baby when it comes to pain lol. I HIGHLY recommend visiting their shop and are certainly considering driving 13 hours back there for any other piercings or tattoos that I want in the future.

One name: Kory!! I came here after contacting Fattys about getting my first tattoo done and Kory immediately got back to me and was constantly in contact with me about my concerns and what I wanted. He answered all of my questions and was very prompt from the beginning.When I came in, he had the design ready and made adjustments when I asked for them until he designed my tattoo exactly like I wanted it! He’s got a very steady and gentle hand, but moves quickly!! I’d say I have a pretty average pain tolerance and I was damn near ASLEEP on the table….not bad for a first tattoo experience!! He was very kind and we had great conversation while he worked. He had me in and out of the shop in about three hours for a shoulder blade to waist tattoo. This man doesn’t play!!!I have been referring him like crazy because I love how he works!! Does the stencil, has the saniderm tape for after, light handed, he’s got it all!! I’d post the pic of my tattoo but it’s under the tape and healing with a bunch of ink pooling under, but it’s healing nicely! Doesn’t hurt or itch!

I was recommended Fatty’s by a piercer of mine in another city and I happened to be in the area and walked in without an appointment. Dani had some time and took me immediately! I already had a piece of jewelry with me that I needed to get pierced and she immediately had it sanitized and pierced! She was incredibly kind and my piercing looks amazing. Will likely be coming back for a new piercing once this one heals :)

The online system to book an appointment is very bad. I contacted the studio and got a reply from Michael and after a few messages to find a convenient appointment he stopped replying. I was travelling to DC three days and wanted to plan ahead. When I got no reply anymore I decided to stop by the studio when in DC. I just wanted to buy jewellery, not even mgetting it installed. When I arrived there I got rejected, because I had no appointment. When I explained the situation, the reply was we receive dozens of messages...

I got my nipples pierced by Michael C. He was really nice, did a great job. I tend to pass out with piercings and he handled it like a pro. He even checked out a previous piercing done by someone else to make sure it was healing properly. Would highly recommend, would return for more.

I got my septum pierced today by Kyle.I called earlier to just make sure he could take me today and he was totally professional over the phone ensuring me I could come in today. I arrived at 7pm (an hour before they closed) and was out by 8pm.He explained everything to me and made me feel super calm and ready for the piercing. I have had some bad experiences at other places so sometimesI psych myself out but not this time.He went over each step before he did it and made me feel totally comfortable.All together for the piercing and the jewelry it wasnt a bad price, especially for the great costumer service I had.Definitely will be heading back there!

I went into Fattys on a Friday after work without an appointment to get my septum pierced. It was my first piercing (and I dont have any tattoos) so although they got good reviews, I wasnt sure what to except. The place has beautiful hard wood floors and is pristine!Everyone I talked to was super professional and down to earth. Hannah Cherry, the piercer, was great! She made me feel comfortable and put me at ease. My piercing was quick and nearly painless and she remained professional, although, I sneezed through the entire process. She also instructed me on aftercare and cleaning.That night at dinner the ball from my piercing came loose and dropped in the restaurant. After it coming loose a few more times, I called Sunday to ask that it be tightened, but by the time I got to the shop, the ball dropped again and I couldnt find it. But Hannah was really nice. She cleaned me up and gave me a new ring for free!Ill definitely be back for jewelry and another piercing in the future.

Had an appointment for work to be compleeted that the artist did not have on their calander regardless of the confirmed appointment. Gantelmenn we attempted to call and come by earlyer in the week. You need a way to comunicate with your clients if you expect them to be able to do buisness with you.

I just got my first ever piercing here and Im very happy about it! The environment is clean. receptionist is friendly, pleasant and informative. And Hannah is amazing! Very supportive and professional. I was very nervous about the pain, but she did everything so smooth and quick, the first thing I cried was Is that all?. Not painful at all, and the most relaxing was watching her changing gloves and that clean and wrapped sterile tools on the table. I guess Im getting too detailed :D All in all, I would definitely recommend Hannah to everyone :)

Had a wonderful experience here with Valerie, the piercing artist here. I had my conch done and my friend had 2 helix piercings put in. Valerie was really helpful when describing everything and helping us decide on jewelry. I was entertaining the idea of getting a helix but she shared that my ear wouldnt highlight that as well as it would the conch piercing. Everything was very hygienic and she was extremely precise when planning out the placement of the piercing. Her attention to detail and confidence really made us feel both at ease.The cost of jewelry was a bit shocking, but the price for Valerie was definitely worth it.Also, there was a rather difficult customer ahead of us who asked about an hours worth of questions. Valerie was nothing, but polite to her. Dont know how. Hospitality on point!

I loved my time at Fattys. I walked in and felt very comfortable. I talked to the head piercer miss Hannah Cherry and she is as good as it gets :) she did multiple piercings on me and they turned out AMAZING. She is obviously very experienced and I would defiantly recommend her for any of your piercing needs no matter how simple or complex they may be. Anything from ear lobes to genital work and anything in between she will do it well and make sure it heals well. If you are ever in DC this is a must stop.

I had an amazing experience with Fattys piercer in Dupont Circle named Valerie. She was extremely professional as well as thorough. Valerie walked me through the entire piercing process from sanitizing instruments to the process of the actual piercing. She spent a good deal of time patiently answering all of my questions and making me feel very comfortable. Valerie also has an aesthetic eye to the positioning of piercings, and I greatly value the time she took to suggest angles and types of jewelry (never imposing, simply being helpful when answering my questions). Most of all, she is an incredibly talented piercer. She guided me through a breathing technique while she pierced me, and along with her talents as a piercer, the breathing made my experience virtually painless. I had an extremely positive experience at Fattys overall, with helpful and friendly staff, along with an excellent piercer in Valerie.

Worked with Brian. Extremely professional, including first class hygiene and sterile practices.He is a brilliant artist. Brought my idea to life with more energy and impact than I could have imagined. Extremely clean lines. Very slick shading, color gradients, and highlighting. Absolutely tremendous!Getting signed up with an artist at Fattys is a little weird. The shop is locked at all times. They dont take walk-ins and they dont answer the phone.You have to fill out the request sheet on their website. Then wait for them to contact you back on that page. Set up a time and go in for a consult. Artists might be late or no-show (rarely), so you need to have patience and be persistent.At the consult, you meet in person and discuss the project. They give you a price and an appointment. Come back at that second time to have the work performed and prepare to be amazed!Highly recommended.

I got my first tattoo today. My sister, brother, and sister in law all have many tattoos so I knew I had to do my research! Fattys was my favorite, but I was only visiting my brother in Virginia so I didnt have time to make an appointment for the tattoo I had planned, but I still wanted to get one! I went in as a walk-in today at their Dupont Circle location and everyone was very welcoming, it was very clean, and they were all friendly. Sarah, who did my tattoo was easy to work with and talked to me the whole time! My brother and sister in law even scheduled an appointment with her for another time! Great place, great people, amazing work!

I went here last night for an ear piercing with a friend and had a great experience. Everyone was helpful and friendly, and the place felt very clean. Michael did our piercings and was really funny and immediately put us at ease. Would definitely recommend!

I went to get my first tattoo from Brian and the experience was amazing. Extremely clean place, and very friendly staff. They understood this was my first time and that I was nervous and all of them did everything they could to make sure I was comfortable and calm. Even the other tattoo artists made an effort to do this. Brian did my tattoo and was both very talented and professional. More importantly, he was as passionate about my piece as I was, and it showed in the overall quality. Yes, this place is a bit pricey, but thats because of the location. Sorry, but DC isnt cheap and there is overhead. Considering thr experience, it was worth every penny. Im going to be going back in the future to get more work done. I highly recommend Fattys to anyone who wants some high quality ink.

These guys are great. I was a bit worried as I am transgender and didnt know what to expect as far as treatment. They were very kind and used the proper pronouns which was important to me because I do not pass. They were also very discreet when my ID didnt match my presentation. This was my first time getting both of my ears pierced and the young lady that did the work was excellent. She could tell I was afraid and got me to relax and breath in a way that made it not too bad. Im a big baby when it comes to needles, but I could do this again....at least with her. I will go back to her again for a second set of ear piercings once the ones I have now heal.The ladies at the front desk were so kind and took time with me....even though they were very swamped with customers. When it was my turn...I got their full attention as did everyone else when it was their turn. I now know why they were so swamped....they are worth it. When I gather enough courage for a tattoo, this is where Im going. Thank you Fattys....much love to you. I cant say enough how great this place is.

I had an outstanding experience with my helix piercing, especially considering I was a walk-in. The front desk person was helpful and she managed the steady stream of clients nicely. The piercer (Danni) was helpful with placement and skilled piercing. This was my first piercing at this location but Ill definitely be back for future work.

My daughter got a nose piercing today with Dennis. He was excellent in making us comfortable, he was professional and very personable- excellent job helping her feel at ease. Fattys as always has a well designed system for keeping everything hygienic and safe. Also just an all around cool place. Thank you!

So, I’m not happy at all with my piercing. For $80 for an industrial piercing and for it not to come out right is upsetting. They do not have a large enough jewelry selection. Better bring your own, plus the little jewelry that they do have is around $30. You can order new jewelry from Body Candy.com or Amazon for 2/3 less price. Overall I’d suggest going elsewhere. Like I said the piercing wasn’t to my liking and now I have to have it redone. That’s more money and another two weeks of agonizing pain. Ugggh !!!!!

Not too long ago I went in there as a walk in to get a tattoo as I was on a trip with my friends. The place is super clean and everyone is very friendly. Moses took me as a walk in at the end of the night and did this diamond. The line work is fantastic and he has a light hand, but I am disappointed at the shading of it. Close to the line work you can see my skin and parts of the shading and not vibrant and you can see skin tone peeking through. It’s not completely consistent all the way through the tattoo. I will probably go to another place soon and have them redo the coloring. This piece is the size of a silver dollar and I was charged 120 which I definitely know is overcharging for something this small. The bouquet of flowers I have are bigger and much cleaner and was only 75. Disappointed honestly

Recently, I came in a second time to get my septum pierced. Id come in the first time a few months ago to switch out my stud nostril piercing with a hoop one. The first time, I thought Michael was professional and he put me at ease. This second time, I was very nervous, but again, he put me at ease. I felt vulnerable laying on the table as he put a needle through my nose - everything was going fine until he said, I like that you ask so many questions - I ask a lot too - Im probably very annoying to go on a date with. I shrugged this off thinking he was just making conversation. When he finished, I looked in the mirror and said I loved it. He said, yeah, it looks great, I mean youre already so beautiful. Hearing this made my stomach drop. Being alone in a building/room with a man putting a needle in your nose laying down is already vulnerable and theres a great deal of trust that goes into it. I immediately wanted to get out of there. Then he said, let me give you my number and quickly added just incase I had any questions about the piercing. I took it just so I could get out of there. All in all, Im disappointed because I thought that I found a piercer I could trust and rely on but in the end, it felt like he was taking advantage of the opportunity to hit on me and it make me feel uncomfortable and unsafe.

The workers here are nice, but try to trick you into paying 3x the price of other places and claim that their jewelry is higher quality than other places ($50 an earring) when its really a $10 pair of earrings. Im very disappointed by the blatant lying of the employees. It took almost an hour to get my friends ears pierced even though there was only one person ahead of us. Once that person left, the piercer looked at us, left and took another 30 minutes before coming to get us. Why she took so much time, I do not know. The only positive thing is the piercer who was very kind and funny.

I have been to Fattys for two tattoos and 1 piercing, and I have to say that the entire staff is incredibly helpful, professional, and know their stuff. Fatty did my second tattoo and he took the time and care to make sure it was done incredibly well. His prices reflect his quality of work, and he and Gilda are both awesome tattooist.Hannah, the Piercer is also amazing, and I recommend her to anyone looking for a a piercing. The jewelery is quality, and again, pure professional at her job.Lastly, everyone takes seriously their job. Things are sterilized, cleaned, cleaned again, and taken care of. The shop is clean and well maintained. They take no chances with the health and safety of their customers. I have seen them tell customers things they dont want to hear, and tell them no, because it wasnt something that was safe, or could lead to infection. I think that speaks more than anything on their level of commitment to their professionalism.Great group of people, great attitude (and yes, there is some sass there too, which is awesome) who put out a great, quality product again and again.Best Tattoo place in the city, hands down.

The customer service at DuPont was out-of-this-world great! My friend and I were so indesicive about which studs we wanted, and they treated us great the whole almost two hours that we were in there.I didnt give five stars because of the price. Cost was $50 service fee for a pair of lobe piercings, $30 for an additional piercing (all ears), and the jewelry started at about $30 per stud. No jewelry is included in the price of the piercing, making a pair of regular earlobe piercings cost minimum of $100 plus tax & tip (I didnt get the bottom line studs so my earlobe holes were actually $165 plus t&t).If you are looking for very attentive piercers who give honest answers about what piercings and jewelry will suit your body type, who are willing to let you debate with yourself for an hour about the trinity or the daisy, and who will treat you with respect the whole time, this is definitely the place to go. Just make sure you plan on spending quite a bit of money, for even basic piercings and jewelry.

Walked in and the receptionist was nice! But the tattoo artist was rude and very sloth like. He took FOREVER to get my tattoo sketched when I had already given him an easy picture to just copy .... and he had no other clients. My tattoo was small yet he charged me wayyyy more than he shouldve. The only reason I accepted the price was because my friend with me was also getting one and didnt want me to back out. Pricey, slow, and not very nice.

While on vacation in DC I decided to add a new piercing. after some research I found Hannah at Fattys. I went down to the shop unsure of the exact piercing I wanted. After talking with Hannah and looking at my anatomy we both decided that I had a great Daith for a large gauge piercing. I was short on time but wanted to get my piece anodized. We both agreed she could anodize the jewelry and have everything set up for me to come back and get pierced. On the day of my piercing Hannah took the time to explain everything first and go over Aftercare instructions (and hand me an aftercare card as a reminder) before we started. she took her time laying out the perfect placement and got everything marked. When I agreed everything was good we got started. Only when I was fully ready did she pierce, I was in total control of the green light to pierce. The procedure was very quick, she slide the jewelry in painlessly and we were done. She explained one last time aftercare and we parted ways. I had a great experience and would recommend anyone to go to Fattys and ask for Hannah.

My wife and I went to Sabrina (H street location) because we really liked her portfolio and wanted some pretty fine detail confined within a small area. Although we werent completely set on what we wanted, Sabrina carefully walked us through a number of options, adding her own insight and--perhaps most importantly--cautioning us against designs that would not come out the way we expected. She was patient, creative, knowledgeable, and flexible. We settled on a custom design she drew for us.The tattoos themselves turned out amazing; Sabrina does some awesome work that is truly unique. If we were to get another tattoo, we wouldnt trust another artist to be as professional or proficient as she is.

I went to the Dupont Circle location yesterday as a walk in to get a rejecting dermal removed and a new dermal piercing. Danni was exceptional from start to finish. Very personable, knowledgeable, and professional. The jewellery prices are definitely on the higher end. But glad I found her.

At first when I started coming here for my tattoo session with Matthew, everything was fine, he is a good tattoo artist and I finally thought I found a permanent tattoo artist I can rely on. We agreed on a set price for a piece he was doing on my forearm, the piece had to be done in two session but he told me I could pay in advance for the whole piece so when I come back for the 2nd session I wouldn’t have to pay anything(except for tip of course) however 1 day before my appointment for my 2nd session he tells me that he “undercharged” me and that he will be charging an additional $250 to finish the piece even after we had already agreed on a price and after everything was already paid for.I got upset and told him it wasn’t fair for him to just change the price after everything was paid for, he did not try to understand or work with me so I instead asked for a refund of half of what I paid but he refused to give me any money back, I was highly upset with how unprofessional this situation was and now I have a tattoo that is half done even though I paid in full on the agreed price. Highly disappointed

Danni was great. She is personable and very knowledgeable. She helped me pick out jewelry for some piercings I already had and she did my conch piercing. I highly recommend Danni and would definitely go back to Fattys to get piercings done.

Just walked 1.5 miles to this place in the 100 degree heat trying to get a new ball for my barbell nipple piercing. (One of the side balls had unscrewed and fell down the shower drain) I needed a spare because without it, if the bar slips out it is very painful to put back in and the hole closes quickly. I went in and the young lady at the counter immediately said she couldnt help because she was not the piercer who is only there 3 days a week. I told her I was already pierced, I just needed a spare ball. After 3 times of trying to explain this very simple concept, she goes to get one of the artists who again tells me they arent allowed to sell the body jewelry because they arent the ones allowed to sterilize it? I think its great they have such a strict policy BUT I WASNT PIERCING MYSELF I NEEDED A BALL. Even the artist kept asking what size the piercing was and it was important that I know that and for the 5th time I had to state I was not inserting anything in my nipple, I just needed the end piece! I even offered to pay for a whole new barbell and I was willing to leave it there just so I could have the 10 cent ball. Then they say Oh well we probably have a bag of those balls somewhere with spare jewelry but we dont know where that is. Maybe come back Thursday when the piercer is here. SO INFURIATING. This is a Tattoo and Body Piercing shop, I understand you have one person there allowed to pierce people I totally get that but it is ridiculous that same person who isnt always there HAS to be the one that sells it too?! Never going back.

Dani did an amazing job with my nostril piercings! Shes patient and professional and very sweet. Shes done all of my piercings and each visit has been incredible! Dani also educates the importance of quality, durable, and hypoallergenic metals. They sell titanium and precious metals.

I got a tattoo in 2006 from Fattys after months of research and review of all tattoo places. What made me pick Fattys was good experiences by colleagues and the place. The place is cleaner than a hospital and the guys are extremely good at what they do.My tattoo took over 4 hours to ink and I was happy with the level of cleanliness maintained during the process.I would recommend this place to anyone and will definitely get my second tattoo from them too.

Fattys is probably one of the best shops I have ever been in.Not only is it extremely clean, everyone who works there is so friendly and knowledgable. Its also the first shop Ive ever been in that asks you not to touch your jewelry or piercings while you are in the shop, they are really big on educating people about proper piercing health. In addition to that, they also have tons of magazines and offer a wide range of jewelry that can be special ordered to the shop.Hannah Cherry is an expert piercer and really knows what shes doing. She did my tragus piercing, it was so quick and painless. She also helped me pick out stone plugs and advised me on how to improve the blowouts on my ears. So far my tragus is healing really well and quickly and my ears have already improved immensely.This shop when comes to its piercers, is top notch. I havent been tattooed there, but I have had the chance to look through the books at the shop and I would have to say it looks like a good place to get really high quality work done.All in all, I give this place a total 10 out of 10. Clean, Great Service, Great Staff and generally too awesome not to stop by. If youre in DC and looking for somewhere to get pierced or tattooed, this is where you need to go.

So.... After 10 years without a tattoo or a piercing.... Yknow... after becoming a boring old stuffy adult.... My boyfriend convinced me it was time to get that big, bold, and beautiful full back piece that I always wanted.We came to see James in January and started talking about some ideas. A week later we were back looking at the designs he came up with, and they were so much more than what I envisioned. Its been 6 months since James started the work on my back, and my bfs is already finished, and I cannot say enough about how amazed I am about the work hes doing. Hes added more and more to what we originally discussed making the tattoo a true work of art. I am constantly getting compliments and questions about where to go, and without any hesitation at all I recommend Fattys. Ive even taken to carrying around some business cards just for that purpose...As an added bonus, getting back into tattooing reminded me how much I missed the whole tattoo/piercing scene, so I decided to talk to Hannah about getting a couple of new piercings... Shes done 3 conch piercings (at once), and two 6g earlobe piercings for me so far, and I can honestly say theyve been virtually painless. I dont know if its her excellent bedside manner or just her technique, but I cannot say enough good things about her ability. I also really appreciate being able to call or e-mail if I have questions and getting a very thorough response.In general, I just love this shop, the professionalism and talent of the staff combined has made for one of my best experiences in either tattooing or piercing. Hannah is incredible. She turned an idea into art and her insanely steady hand made for exact replicas of my family members handwriting. She also covered up a major F up from a previous tattoo artist and made it look the way it was supposed to look the first time, just amazing. If that wasnt enough, she made time for me in her schedule out of nowhere because I had to fly out of state 2 days later and was super sweet and professional the whole time. Ill only be going to Fattys and having Hannah tat me from here on out, and you should too!

I had only been here for piercings initially but when I decided to get my first tattoo I made an appointment here. I’ve since gotten two, one by Mikey and one by Hannah. Although both experiences were drastically different, both artists are very talented and I couldn’t be more pleased with the result. I will continue to get work done here.

Fattys Custom Tattoo is a really good place to go if you want a tattoo when visiting D.C. I talked to Gilda through e-mail and showed her some pictures of what I wanted. The day before getting the tattoo she e-mailed me a draft and it looked amazing. She is a very talented artist and the whole staff there is really nice.So i give this place a thumbs up.

The piercers are great I am giving a 3 because the receptionist / blonde guy at the front always tries to rip me off with the jewelry. They are not transparent of the prices at all. Oh and I got a helix piercing and they forgot to tell me I will have to come in to pay an additional $20 for a shorter back.One time my piercing closed up because my own fault I took the earring out for 8 hours and they said to come in and they didn’t attend me for 30 min so I left and came back weeks after and got it repierced and paid the piercing fee again.

Completely disorganized and zero stock. I went to Fattys DuPont to have a surface piercing done on 8/18/19 around 3:30 pm. They did not have any of the posts in stock so they called the Silver Spring location, at the direction of piercer Danni, because she was confident they had everything there and that she could do the piercing on Monday. The Silver Spring Store said they did not have any posts in stock. Danni assured me that they did and that Nick was new. To be safe, on 8/19/19 at 2 pm I called Fattys Silver Spring to speak with Danni and make sure everything was in stock. Shockingly, I was told that all the posts/ supplies were moved to Fattys DuPont overnight. That literally makes no sense.

Fattys is the absolute best!!!! My wife was tattooed by James. He is awesome!!!! He is so professional and his artistry is so well defined and detailed. We had 2 sessions with him and he did an extraordinary job. I will most definitely be coming back to Fattys for my next tattoo. James you rock!!!!

Me and my friend tried several times to walk in for a (small) tattoo. On Saturday the guy said we should better come back on Sunday and theyll have time for us for sure. Today we were the first ones over there, directly after they opened. The same guy told us to wait for an hour so we can talk with the artist about our tattoos. We did that and after we came back he told us they wont have time for us today. This is not the service I was hoping for! Big disappointment!!!!

Had a fantastic experience at Fattys. I checked out 4 other tattoo places before Fattys, but after having a brief conversation with Gilda about the idea for my piece, I knew I could stop looking. It took 4 three-hour sessions, but damn, was it worth it. Gildas skill and art was absolutely amazing. She essentially flawlessly replicated a piece of art on me down to some of the subtlest details. Test of the staff I met were laid-back and nice as well. Check out this place!

Walked in and the staff were so friendly. I got to sit with the artists to work on the piece and we communicated really well about getting something I really liked and that was doable. I highly recommend this place the staff are great and professional and I am extremely happy with my tattoo!

I had gotten a tattoo at another location and while the tattoo was nice, as a first timer, I had a horrible experience and thought all tattoo artists were this rockstar wannabee. However I wanted to get another tattoo that reflected a very meaningful thing for me. I spoke with Marissa (sp?). Super cool. Answered all my questions over the phone and was extremely courteous. George so patiently helped me narrow down between two styles and the amazing Sabrina designed an amazing tattoo. I got a tat of my ribs and even as I wriggled and screamed from the pain, she was so patient and did a remarkable job.Do not go anywhere else. Go to Fattys, ask for George or Sabrina on H street location. You wont regret it!

I was super nervous to get my septum pierced because i had to go alone, but Michael was very friendly and answered all my questions. It was quick and painless and i absolutely love it!

Bad experience! my $ 100 was taken from James the artist he did not do my tattoo and took my deposit! I had an appointment and called the front desk rep and She let me know I was OK, but apparently not because fattys shop would not give my money back! and said that if I have to reschedule I would have to pay another $100. James and the front desk REP made me feel very unconformable!!!!!!

Had three piercings done with Valerie - she was amazing. I was a little curious about the shop going up the slightly creepy stairs, but once inside it was great. Would totally recommend.

After a lot of research on tattoo shops and specific artists, I decided to go with Gwooki at Fattys on H St. for a shoulder octopus design I had been conceiving. I could not have made a better decision - from the moment I walked in the shop it felt right. I met Gwooki for a brief consultation, showed him some examples I liked and described my intent for the design. He told me the concept was exactly his thing and he was noticeably excited to get to work. A few weeks later I showed up for my appointment and the fun began.Gwooki had clearly done a lot of research on octopus designs and busted out a few different colored sharpies and started drawing on my arm. I was kind of unsure of what was going on at first but as soon as I could make out the framework I knew it was going to be awesome. Once the sharpie stencil was in a good place he began the actual tattoo and was able to work very quickly because of his familiarity with the type of artwork. We got through the entire outline and some shading during our five hour session and I scheduled a three hour follow on session to finish it up a few weeks later.The final design came out breathtaking. Gwooki himself was so stoked about the design, which was awesome because it was clear how invested in the process he was throughout. I recommend him hands down - five stars across the board.

Discovered an issue with a new-ish piercing while visiting from out of town. They saw me right away, fixed the problem quickly and easily. The people who work there are highly professional and the shop is clean and tidy.

Tried to call all three locations and nobody picked up. The online appointment system also took multiple hours to get a response. I was just looking for a simple jewelry change and purchase, which shouldn’t require a laborious online system and lack of communication.

I emailed the Glida asking her about covering a tattoo I currently have as well as getting another small one. She emailed me back basically saying to just come in and we could discuss it. I went in during the next week and she was tattooing someone but started discussing it with me anyway. She was very condescending about what I wanted and was not really listening to me. She kept asking me all these questions which was good but to the point where I wanted to be like I dont know youre the artist take my ideas and create something. She also told me the small one I wanted would be about mid $200s. I thought that seemed a little crazy. She told me I could make an appt if I wanted to or could just come in another day. I walked out with no intentions of ever calling or going back.

I got my ears pierced here and it was a very positive experience. They had a great selection of studs and very friendly, professional staff. Its very likely I will return for future piercings.

Tattooist Matt Slime caused permanent scarring on a very simple (over priced) tattoo. He was too heavy handed while tattooing and now the tat is raised and doesnt look good.I got the botched tattoo back in October 2015.Ive since had work done by a more established shop that hires professional artists who are trained at working on all skin types. No issues.Do you research and go somewhere where they know what they are doing.

Gwooki is THE MAN. Ive only gotten tattoos from 2 different shops, but have gotten quotes and artist input from several, and Fattys is from start to finish hands down the best place in the DC area and beyond. I spent about 2 years trying to find an artist that could really knock my design out of the park; a realistic black and gray kneeling angel holding a longsword with wings wrapping around my thigh and crossing in the back. I walked into Fattys H Street, and both Fatty and another artist said Gwooki was my man. I cannot overstate how awesome this was, theyre all about making the best tattoo, regardless of who does it, they just wanna make kickass art and make the customers happy. I met with Gwooki, told him about my idea, made an appointment and left source material. One great thing was how involved I was during the whole process. We had some correspondence over email, and Gwooki put the basic tenants of the idea together, but he fleshed out everything right there in the shop and I was able to give him my input on everything as he drew it up. It took about 12 hours over 2 sessions, and it looks amazing. Gwooki even added in fingernails that are MAYBE 1mm wide; just incredible. For any black and gray, realism, or bio-mech, or anything else really, dont go to anyone else if you are within a days drive of DC.

The piercer was super friendly but it’s WAY overpriced. Charged $40 for jewelry; which was a standard curved barbell worth $10-20 at most. Not to mention the piercing was done crooked.

Walked in yesterday and the staff was super friendly and attentive. They made sure I was getting what I wanted and were super reasonable with finding the right price that worked for me. Also, if you were just looking for something small with fine lines, they did an astounding job!

Awesome place with amazing tattoo artists and had a second nose piercing here. Daniellia didnt use tools so it was smooth and totally non-traumatic, healing perfectly with no issues or even pain ❤

DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!! It’s a waste of time. I came to buy a nose ring. I should have been able to purchase it and go out the door. They took all my info like I was buying a car then I was told I could not leave with the jewelry until it was sterilized. I asked for a refund because it was taking so long and the manager said no refunds. THIS PLACE IS A RIP OFF!!! AGAIN DO NOT COME HERE!!!

I’m in the tattoo removal business and have a different perspective. Saving a few bucks on ink Is one of the worst mistakes people make on their tattoos. Fattys is the only place I would take my 19 year-old for her first tattoo. To all those who say Fattys is more expensive, I’d say you definitely get what you pay for...

The piercing service experience I had was really bad. The people are not friendly, while I was talking about options for my piercings she kept on looking at her phone. After I did it went back for a follow up I got the same attitude. No going back

Great place to get tattd. Buddy went in, talked with an artist and had an appointment set up a week later. The tatt came out great, everyone was friendly and knowledgeable and it was priced fairly for the DC area.

My piercer was excellent. Kyle was kind, gentle, and patient. The guy at the front desk was impatient and dismissive when I asked questions.
