Rubio is a phenomenal artist. My first tattoo and I am a very large guy (6’5 300lbs) and he had clean lines and got all the color done in about 3 hours. Amazing experience, I’m from out of town visiting a buddy and would do that again in a heart beat. Hands down amazing experience. Thank you sir!!

Brian did an amazing job! He is incredibly detail oriented and extremely hygienic - everything in his station was pristine. He is such an artist! The tattoos came out perfectly!!! The only constructive feedback I have is around appointment time…he was running late for both our appointments, so my partner had to leave early to get our kids, which was kind of a bummer since we were getting tats together, but they turned out perfectly, so I’m happy!!! If I get another one, I’d go back!!!

Got my second earlobe piercings at Fatty’s on H with Kyle almost two weeks ago, and I couldn’t be happier with both the piercing experience itself and the healing process. Kyle was meticulous about the placement of the piercings and they look fabulous. On top of that, I’m super squeamish about needles, but he was patient, supportive, and kind. Truly a perfect experience!

Really great spot! Kyle did my belly button person and it was practically pain free! I had a very painful experience my first time getting this piercing from another shop, but this was comfortable and quick! Kyle was patient, informative, and precise with my piercing location. 4 stars because the jewelry options are quite pricey, but they’re really glamorous, so I am happy with my selection. Might come back for an ear piercing in the future!

Got the best tattoo from Brian at H street! I was looking to get a tattoo that represents DC to me and decided a black squirrel holding a cherry blossom would be cool. The place was clean, the price was reasonable, and the staff is very friendly. The tattoo took longer than expected but I cannot argue with the results, far better than I could have imagined!

Ive had a piercing for 25 years that I love so much. Over the past 5 years, Ive had to get MRIs once to twice a year which means Ive had to get it taken out. Kyle has been incredible. Hes made himself available to take it in and out. When Ive had questions, hes been incredibly responsive through the portal. He even helped me find an even better sized ring when he didnt carry it. He has gone above and beyond and I trust him completely.

Wonderful experience here, highly recommend. Brian and I worked together to create a very emotional memorial tattoo. He gave me his undivided attention and patience in tweaking the design and sampling placement and size to get it just right. Kyle was great! Super accommodating even though I missed my original appointment, and the actual piercing was super easy and quick! It was my first experience with any kind of body mods and he talked me through the whole thing and my piercing looks great and is healing very well. I will definitely go to him again for future piercings!

I went in to have a bead put back in a heavier gauge CBR. Kyle did everything he could to try to make it work. In the end, he did get it back in the jewelry but it was tough. He never lost his cool. Another customer was there before and after me, and he was kind and respectful to them too. Overall, a good experience for a jewelry issue.

An artist often wants to do the most creative project as possible, in my case, however, Brian gave me exactly what was needed and it looks fantastic. Amazing service! Kyle helped me pull out a bad piercing that was a “botch job” done by a Miami piercing joint, and he helped treat it and offer advice and solutions to encourage proper healing. Im from Thailand and I had an appointment with Kyle for my two helix piercings which have had some issues. Kyle was very friendly, polite, professional and patient. I took a long time choosing new jewelry, and he didnt rush me and showed me all the ones I wanted to see. As he changed out my old jewelry, he explained step by step what he was doing, and I felt very calm and relaxed. I expected a lot of pain because my piercings have been bleeding for several days and had bumps, but the pain was very minimal, and everything was done very quickly. He definitely knew what he was doing, and its such a different experience from the piercers in my country - they would pop my bumps and squeeze them so hard that I would cry (Kyle told me that you should never pop a bump). Im now confident that my piercings will heal with ease from now on (if not, I would have to fly back to the U.S. 😂). I would recommend Kyle 100%.

Incredible experience!! Quick responses online when scheduling, and Kyle has a very calming presence. My nose piercing fell out and half closed over 2 days, and Kyle put one back in. I barely felt it, and it’s now better than my original piercing. Price felt very fair too. I will say that I would’ve loved a way to schedule an appointment online without having to message, but overall it was a great experience and I would/will recommend this place!

I have had excellent experiences with Brian the past two years. I attend a service academy, so my time in the area is always limited. Brian has always been flexible with me and makes himself available - and his artwork is phenomenal. They have all healed nicely and look great. I get compliments all the time. I also love the atmosphere in Fatty’s.

It was a bust! I specifically stated what I was looking to do and I was open to suggestions. I wanted a dermal surface Piercing. I was told Kyle could do it. But I get there and he doesnt!!! He was helpful trying to find someone else but it was futile. I made so many transportation arrangements to get there ONLY TO BR DISAPPOINTED. I got it done the next day at Red Octopus. Got my first piercing (septum) here, and they did a great job! Quick and very little pain. It’s been a few hours and I’ve had no bleeding or extreme discomfort. I love this tattoo parlor Matt did my sunflowers tattoo I wish I could remember her name she did my FREEDOM tattoo they were both wonderful I highly recommend if you want to get a tattoo go here I have many they dont dig into your skin and they do a wonderful job its very clean all the employees are wonderful if I could give it 50000 stars I would the atmosphere is wonderful there not real expensive but worth the price...💯

Overrated. The artists are decent but they all do down payments that are pretty steep and will not give it back for any reason. My artist rescheduled twice and then showed up late asking $850 for a 3.5 hr black and white tattoo. Honestly there are a lot better shops in DC that have better artists, better practices, and also have a better price.Update: they called me a troll for this review and refused me service as a result.

I went to Fatty’s to get my first tattoo and I was a little worried because I’m a black woman and wanted something with some color. Thankfully I was paired up with Brian at the H Street location. Not only is he experienced in color tattoos on dark skin, but he is also very gentle and cool to chat with. Process was quick and as pain free as it gets. 10/10 would recommend

Received my first tattoo here and Im so glad I chose this place. The entire staff was extremely friendly and went out of their way to take care of me. Sabrina did my tattoo and I highly recommend her. My design was pretty complicated, but she sat down with me and we worked a plan out together. She definitely knows what shes doing, so trust her. She was easy to talk to throughout the entire time, and you can tell she absolutely loves what she does. I’ve been getting my tattoos done here by stef for the past year. In total 5 pieces. She did my first tattoo and she made me feel confident in her work. The first appointment I ever had setup was awful, I had came at the time specified only to be ignored for an hour and then find out that she had booked over me. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and continued to come back. Recently had an appointment for 11/20 @ 1pm. Took off the entire day for nothing. I got there and was told to wait outside because she had not arrived yet. I waited for 30 minutes outsides and the next 30-45 minutes in my car. All the while sending her messages to see if something changed. Did not hear back until around 6 pm that she just “didn’t feel good”. We agreed to reschedule for today (11/23) @ 1 pm. I sent her a message to verify (I travel 30+ mins to her) she reached out @ 3 am claiming she won’t be able to give me an appointment again. She is a good artist but lacks a lot of professionalism. As someone who doesn’t just have any free time and has to make time for her mistakes in rescheduling it’s not worth it to keep going back and forth.

Kyle M was so great and extremely professional and clean. He was able to squeeze me in last minute for a piercing and did an amazing job. I would recommend him to anyone in DC who needs a piercing!

Kyle changed my nipple piercings for me and helped me put in a new cartilage ring. Super respectful and kind! I rescheduled many times and he was always very communicative.

Overview: Clean, professional, nice, and talented.My sister and I received tattoos in the summer of 2016. She was visiting from New Hampshire and we wanted to get them done at the same time as a sisterly bonding experience. Gia and Matt were awesome to work with. They took the time to get to know us and made sure the experience was comfortable.I would highly recommend this parlor for first timers or people getting their umpteenth tattoo. My sister received her fourth tattoo there and, out of all the shops shes been to, its been her favorite so far. We cant say enough good things about this place.

They are taking all the necessary precautions, staff present at the time were very pleasant. The staff is always helpful and the artists truly respect their craft and their clients. Matt in particular is so easy to work with and uncannily skilled at translating a half-baked client idea into a gorgeous piece. Whether youre a first-timer or a seasoned vet, youll leave the shop with a beautiful work of art. Cant wait to finish up my newest piece -- and get started on the next idea!

I went in to Fattys for a DC flag tattoo on my wrist. I had it mentally laid out and wanted the artist to transfer my idea onto my wrist. The tattoo artist told me that a 2x3 inch tattoo would not look good. He said that I should make it small. Because he is the professional I took his word. My tattoo is 1×2.5inches.Later I saw someone with the same tattoo same placement and he was the same size as me but his tattoo was 3x3inches and looked perfect. I told him of my experience and his response was scam! tattoo artist didnt want to do the work but I bet he still charged the quoted price. Well he was right. What I paid for my tattoo was more than he paid for his and his showed better. Its not the price thats the issue. It is the deceitful method the artist used to save time and make a buck.Professionals should at as Professionals

I live in Illinois, halfway across the country from this shop. I emailed the shop before traveling to the area after hearing positive things about them and was given an appointment with no deposit needed. I gave the artist my ideas and was exchanged a few emails regarding my ideas. A few days before my appointment I got an email confirming the details. When I arrived at the shop as a first timer, the artist and secretary were extremely professional and made me feel at ease. They answered all of the many questions that I had and fully explained aftercare as well as the actual tattoo process. I got a black feather on my inner left bicep, and my artist, Mat Slime, absolutely nailed it! I fully recommend this establishment for any first time tattoo customers

I had a fantastic experience with Fattys. I had an important tribute piece that I needed to have designed for my shoulder. I brought my concept to Brian with some basic sketches, and he used them to develop something stunning, beyond anything I could have imagined. I was particularly impressed by how much he actually seemed to care about the piece, considering how many of these he does. He was really excited for the design as it came together. It could not have gone better. I will probably be going back soon to clean up the 15-year old ink on my other shoulder (and perhaps add to it).

I’m sure their tattoos and piercings are fine given all the reviews, but as a business there is no human communication available through phone and the email address provided on their website and answering service is not responsive after multiple contacts. If you want someone to consult with, it looks like the only way is to put down some money and make an appointment with a deposit.

Awful experience. Chatted with Kyle to make and appointment for a piercing and confirmed it with me. When I showed up me and my friend waited 45 min. When he finally came out he said he only had one appointment booked and said he had no time to do my appointment that we clearly booked. Never coming back so unorganized.

Just wanted to purchase jewelry for my piercings, but could not get in to see what they had without scheduling an appointment. cannot make appointment over phone, just email. Im sure its a great place though.

The artists here take their job very seriously, and work with you to make sure they bring your vision to life. I have already gotten several pieces here myself, and will continue to have my work done here. HIGHLY recommended.

I truly hate giving bad reviews, but this experience was so piss-poor that I feel like I should contribute my experience. I wish I could review the tattoo, but never got the option:I went in to the Fattys on H Street on April 12th to discuss a tattoo design with them. The next availability was in late June, which was fine and I booked an appointment and left happy with the consult. Unfortunately I neglected to make note of the exact time or date, which is 100% my fault. On April 22nd I emailed the artist and asked for a reminder of my appointment date. I never heard back. For weeks I tried to contact both the shop and the artist to find out when my appointment was made. I called several times during work hours and never got an answer (I later saw on their website that theyre not answering phones during COVID, which is mind-boggling, but there was no indication given on their answering service that this was the case, and instead it would just ring and ring). I emailed the shop on May 17th and June 11 requesting a reminder but never got one. I emailed the artist and never got a response. I messaged the artist on Instagram and never got a response.I never got a reminder call or email of any kind and, now that its July, I have presumably I missed my appointment completely. In contrast, I got a tattoo at Tattoo Paradise in AdMo recently and maintained great contact with both the artist and the store itself, even during COVID.Im really disappointed in Fattys cause not only do I want to support local tattoo artists, but I wanted a tattoo, and had scheduled one months in advance. More importantly, I couldve scheduled tattoos elsewhere and actually gotten one in the meantime.While I admit that I shouldve written down my appointment date and time as soon as it was scheduled, even if I had I wouldnt have been confident in appointment without confirmation and reminders from the shop or artist. Im sure that if you actually get to go to your appointment youll get perfectly good tattoos, since the artists are not representative of the poor management of the shop, but Ill never give Fattys my money.

I had an awesome experience at Fattys. Although Fatty the actual artist is highly regarded (as he should be) and there is a waiting period for his services (as there should be), I wanted to write a review for Gwooki. When I went into my appointment I had an idea for a tattoo that had a lot of space for improvement. Gwooki worked PATIENTLY with me, and I want to emphasize patiently because the time we spent ironing out the final details of my tattoo took a long time and I was not charged extra. It made me feel like he was more interested in creating a masterpiece then just getting paid. The actual tattoo ended up being much better than I could have imagine and I was blown away by the detail. I recommend this place for anyone looking for a tattoo, but if it is your first one (like mine was) I highly recommend Fattys Tattoos. They will take their time and help you come up with a masterpiece. I want to say thank you Fattys, I already made my deposit for next time

My husband recently got a fairly complex piece from the new-in-town artist Gwooki. The art is amazing and I really feel that Gwooki is in a league of his own in DC. Not only that, the new studio is really nice and clean, with lots of natural light and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to get a high quality custom tattoo. I see us becoming repeat customers.

Can only speak for the piercings, not tattoos:Both me and my friend got piercings. We have never had reactions before to other piercings, but their earrings gave us both gray tissue growths around the front and back piercing sites - eventually we had to take them out. We care for piercings properly, have sterile solution, etc. There wasnt any infection. Gave it a solid four months before I gave up on mine. Plus, one of mine the exit site was so crooked that the piercing almost couldnt go far enough to exit.Not really part of my rating, but it kind of speaks to their unprofessionalism, I guess: they actually called me to get an additional $10 payment bc they forgot to charge me the right amount. 🤦

I first came here a couple months ago because I saw some of Gias tattoo work online and loved it!! I had a general idea of what I wanted, but nothing solid thought out. This was my first time at Fattys on H and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. I met with Gia for a consultation and she seemed super excited for my tattoo and she tied all my ideas together beautifully! I love my shoulder tatt from Gia so much that I just made an appointment with her for my next tattoo in a few weeks :) I am very excited!

I worked with Brian to get a piece done that I wanted for a while. Consultation was smooth and pricing was very reasonable, and turns out it was worth every penny. Hands down the best tattoo I’ve gotten to date.

I can only describe my experiences with Fattys on H St as unpleasant. Aside from the nice young man that informed me of the glass shop a few doors down, everything else was a hurried miscommunication where at no point did I feel that anyone was taking me seriously. They ate my overly large deposit because I was running a bit late due to a mental health condition. I would not recommend unless you have an establish relationship or interest in particular artist or have more dollars than sense. It is a nice looking shop though. Good location.

I highly recommend Fattys for both tattooing and piercing. Fattys isnt your typical tattoo shop where you select a design off the wall or from a book, rather Fatty prefers to work with each client in order to personalize their design and develop a high quality piece of body art. I have had two sleeves done at Fattys and cannot say enough about the final outcome. There is a reason Fatty has received so many awards from the industry over the years.My wife has been tattooed by Fatty twice and has gotten several piercings done at Fattys. Everything was top notch. The piercing staff is top notch and they perform clean, high quality piercings and offer some of the most unique, high quality jewelry in the area.If you are in the MD/DC/VA area and are looking for top notch, professional tattoos and body piercings, I highly recommend you check out Fattys. There is simply no comparison. My wife and I wont get pierced or tattooed anywhere else.

Pedro did my girlfriends tattoo two weekends ago. Since then it has been leaking ink, burning and very red. Its apparent that there is tattoo scarring there, however, the biggest issue is the lack of professionalism from the entire shop. She and I have called, text, emailed the shop and Pedro and have not received a response for days. Tattoo scarring only comes from inexperience or blatantly not doing your job correctly. The lack of communication afterwards is completely a choice that both Pedro and the the shop has chosen.

Love Fattys! Went in with an idea and ended up with an amazing tattoo. gWooKi was my artist and he went above and beyond to give me the tattoo I wanted. The entire experience was awesome. gWooKi made sure the design was perfect and took the time to make sure I was happy with it. He stayed hours past the time the shop closed to get the tattoo done right. I would highly recommend this shop and artist.

Gave me alcohol and pizza as a minor and then charged me $500 for a very simple band tattoo.It was my first tattoo and I was already 18 so I didnt find out they ripped me off until recently when I went to get a more detailed tattoo on that same arm by a different artist.Ive lived 3 years thinking that tattoos cost hundreds of dollars.

If I could give zero stars, I would. For three weeks now Ive tried meeting a piercer on 2 out of the 3 days theyre supposed to have one at their H st. location (info from website). Each day no piercer. No one to sell me jewelry because no one feels comfortable selling me jewelry because they are not a piercer. They obviously dont want to make money - why do you need a piercer to sell me diablo weights or any jewelry on display? Im never coming here or any location for jewelry or piercing needs again.
