Gilbert is hands down the best artist I have come across!! My wife and I were lucky enough to discover him early last year after spending months of trying to find an actual artist in Albuquerque. Very professional and very down to earth. My daughter has been tattooed by Zach and I have had friends from out of state come in and get tattooed by Zach, also an amazing artist!! Can freehand anything and willing to accept any challenge! This place has my vote as the best tattoo parlor in Albuquerque!!!!

Gilbert was my artist for these two pieces & I could not be happier. The shop is clean & the staff is welcoming. They are a well-rounded team of artists that can achieve any style you desire. Quality work, not heavy-handed.You may pay a little higher than other places but Shadow of Comfort is well worth it.Ill be scheduling in another piece soon!

Got matching tattoos with all of my girls. Chris Partain was amazing! Got us in right away. He was funny, has amazing tat skills and made us feel right at home. The place was clean everyone there was so welcoming and friendly. Will be coming to see him again.

Just moved here and was looking for a tattoo shop. Stumbled up in this one and Im glad I did! Chris was my tattoo artist and hes amazing! Hes super fast and detailed! Will definitely come back in the future for more tattoos!

Everyone at this shop is awesome and super nice. They made me feel extremely comfortable from the moment I walked through the door and were interacting and joking with me the entire time. KJ did a script tattoo that is probably the most important tattoo on my entire body. He’s experienced in tattoos like this and is easy to trust. He treated the whole situation with the utmost respect and compassion. I would get tattooed here again with no hesitation.

Got tattooed by Sean for the first time. He was really professional, and very kind. He took a great deal of time to get your tattoo what you want it to be!10/10, would recommend

Very nice shop, crew was pretty cool. Made us feel at home and welcome. Will return to get more work done soon. Also, it sounds stupid, but the restroom was super clean. That alone tells me all I need to know about the cleanliness of a shop.

Absolutely wonderful hospitality my tatto artist was Zachariah Grey and he was the best he free handed my tatto and it is beautiful he was super meticulous and detailed and he made sure I was ok

Got my first tatto here and I absolutely could not be happier with how it came out! Chris Partain is handsdown the best artist I couldve hoped to have had for a first time experience! Super fun, super talkative and just amazing in every sence of the term and to not mention a complete Wizz with the tattoo machine! Everyone in the shop was super nice and chill and not once did it ever feel unwelcoming or anything of the sort! 10/10 would and currently recommending to all friends and family! 😂

About a year ago, I got my first tattoo at Shadow of Comfort. At the time, I was pleased with the result, mostly because I was experiencing an adrenaline rush and was just relieved I didnt pass out or vomit — I even tipped the guy. But days later I began to notice imperfections and how different it looked compared to the photo of the tattoo I showed the artist (Ive attached the photo below). The outline is much darker than the shaded bit of the crescent moon, and the rays are wiggly and different lengths — the ink even looks smudged on my skin in some areas. The tattoo was also meant to be a fine line design, but it came out very thick. Ive tried to learn to live with it, but its really upsetting every time I look at it — I hope to get it removed next year. I wish I had spoken up earlier to get my money back or get it fixed somehow, but it is what it is. Dont make the same mistake I did.

I stopped into an auto parts store and the girl behind the counter had an incredible tattoo. The color blend was amazing. I asked her where she got it and she told me. As soon as I left, I went to Shadow of Comfort Tattoo and found the artist. I scheduled an appointment with her. She took pictures of the tat that I wanted work done around. When I showed up for the appointment she had photo-shopped her design and she solicited my input. The colors and blend she did on my skin are astounding. I was so happy with her work that I had her do the other shoulder. Now we are working on a back piece. Her name is Beth; and though I jokingly call her The Queen of Pain, she is very gentle and articulately detailed. She is a master and totally amazing. All of the artists there are very professional, super friendly and when you go through the door you are met with courtesy and great beautiful smiles and hearts.

This was my first big tattoo, the other being a 2 minute small symbol, and I was pretty nervous. Gilbert made the whole process run smoothly and him and all the other staff I met were all super nice. I gave him a picture of my cat to work with and I was worried it would be hard to find someone who could get it just right as my cat has kind of a unique face. Gilbert nailed it and Im even more in love with the piece now than when I left the store. Im definitely coming back when I get my next one and Im definitely saving up to give him a bigger tip than I could give this time, the work was ABSOLUTELY worth it.

Gilbert and all the girls here are incredible artists. Friendly, clean, personable, talented, and fairly priced. At this stage in my life, after some *ahem* youthful mistakes, finding an artist you can trust and who will listen to you is priceless. Gilbert covered up one of those mistakes, and now I receive daily compliments on what I thought was a lost cause tattoo. I dont even have words to express how infinitely grateful I am for Gilberts amazing work. He even managed to get it all done before my wedding (the most photographed day of your life, they say). Supremely happy. I refer everyone here.

I cant say enough good things about SOC. Its a nice, clean studio with a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. Bunni is a top notch artist who turned a well loved, but old and faded, tattoo into a true work of art. Aside from the impressive portfolios of the artists, what sold me was the professionalism and friendliness of everyone there; kind of a rare thing in my experience. SOC has a great group of folks working there and made the whole experience enjoyable. Im definitely going to visit again to have more work done. Thanks for a great experience!

Friendly, inviting, pristine, comfortable I got an awesome piercing from Randy. He was delightful and explained everything to me as we went along and provided great aftercare instructions. At 55, Im probably older than their usual clientele, but I felt right at home.

Bunni was awesome! This was my first tattoo and it was so easy to talk to her. She took my idea and reference photos and worked with me on the design. Im in love with my tattoo and I completely intend to go back to get the rest of my sleeve done.

Bunni is an amazing artist and did a beautiful job on my cover up tattoo. I am about to get my 2nd tattoo done with her and every one in the future. Shes not only sweet as can be and incredibly talented, shes fair in her pricing as well, IMO.

The artist thought it was okay to make changes to the original tattoo that was shown. Very disappointed in the work lines are very wonky. Definitely was not worth it. I will be getting the work that was done here covered up
