MOLA Piercing and Fine Jewelry

I went here about a year and a half ago but debated making this review. I made an appointment at 1:30pm and when I arrived the guy at the front desk was off-putting and seemed like he didnt want to be there. No music, little decor, very sterile and uninviting environment (understandable for the separate rooms where you get pierced, but the waiting area was like an unfurnished apartment). I waited over 45 minutes to get pierced although no other customers were in the studio because more than half of the employees left while I was waiting and came back with Starbucks... you can imagine how irked I was when they returned. To be fair, they offer a beautiful jewelry selection and my piercer was well informed, but I feel there are better piercing shops in Charleston based on affordability, welcoming environment, etc.

I had a great piercing experience with Kae, they were happy to answer questions and were so gentle! I’ll be back to see them again for sure.The studio itself is clean, welcoming, clearly has rigorous infection control procedures in place, and their jewelry selection is excellent.

Best piercing experience i have ever had! the staff was very kind and knowledgeable. my friend and i drove from savannah ga because we heard such great things. they did not disappoint! we will absolutely come back!

Super good experience the staff was was extremely nice, comforting, and communicative about everything. The studio was professional and clean with nice seating and free water. I had Rogan as my piercer and he did an amazing job talked me through every step and answered all my questions. Overall very satisfied and would recommend to anyone !

I took my 10 year old daughter to get her ears pierced here. The staff were very helpful, informative and patient. Ear piercing is by appointment only, but its easy to schedule through their online system. When we arrived my daughter picked out the studs she wanted and then we went to a back room for the piercing. The piercer was very professional and also comfortable with children. She was patient when my daughter was nervous and took time to explain exactly what she was doing. They only do piercings with a needle, which minimizes trauma to the ear lobe and keeps swelling down. It was a great first piercing experience and Id recommend it to anyone. The only possible downside is that the jewelry sold at the shop is very expensive, but also very high quality. Brace yourself for the bill, this isnt a $20 piercing at a mall kiosk.

Ive been to this fine establishment a few times but I finally had my own piercing done there. I came last week with my partner to get her piercing. They answered any questions we had and were not at all pushy. I actually had to reschedule a couple times due to various circumstances and they were more than understanding. They have always been clean, professional, and incredibly friendly. Kae did my piercing and they talked through everything with me so I wasnt surprised and knew what I was getting myself into. Kae is a great piercer and hopefully Ill come back to them soon for something else.

As a first time client I felt welcomed immediately. My sister and I went to the West Ashley location. Kae and Asia were super helpful with picking out what jewelry we should get and talking to us about how to take care of our piercings. Kae was wonderfully friendly and funny. Their experience in the field was obvious but they were also great with customer interactions. Asia was also a delight. Wonderful at getting to know us and making us feel comfortable. All in all a wonderful experience. Would go back for the wonderful people alone but the piercings do look amazing!

Truly the best place to go if you want an experience with well-versed professionals. I’ve gotten nearly all of my piercings here (this being my second trip) and they were able to help me design a set for my ears that were complementary, flattered each ear, and worked with my particular anatomy—including very patiently and thoughtfully talking me through where on the ear a piecing would be possible/successful and where it would not. The piercing professional was very exact and executed beautifully the vision. My piercings always heal very safely and beautifully, following their aftercare guidelines. I’m so grateful to have this business as a resource in town, and will never go anywhere else.

LAURA and ALISA are the BESTT!!!!! I was so nervous and a baby about some lil ear piercings but they made me feel so calm and helped me pick out the perfect jewelry. I had a horrible Claires experience as a child and Laura reassured me this would be much much better and it TRULY was. Please go to them for all your piercing needs you will not be disappointed.

I called MOLA because i was getting a MRI and needed to know how to get my daith ring out and not only did they help but they went above and beyond !! i cannot thank them enough and if yall see this i got it out immediately with no damage thanks to you !!!!!

Go somewhere else. Way too expensive and the girl didn’t even want to move the dot she placed on my nose the first time. I don’t like leaving bad reviews but this was a pretty bad experience. If you’re going to charge this much you need way better customer service.

Wonderful business! The owner truly knows what she is doing! My uncle and son got their ears pierced together and it was great fun. The experience was positive, the shop was super clean, and she really knew what she was doing!!! You cant go wrong here!

I was treated to a nose piercing by my cousin who knew of this place from her daughter having piercings done here. Firstly upon entering the place looked and smelled really CLEAN and that was a PLUS. We were immediately greeted by someone that was on an obvious lunch break as we were told without being asked “how we could be helped” that they were on lunch break and due to the time of our appointment 3:30PM that we would need to basically wait until their break was over. I needed to use the bathroom so as she was speaking about the need to wait I went there. I thought that was rather odd that would be the way we would be greeted. At first, that encounter made me sorta want to turn away but I put the feelings to the side and proceeded to look at the jewelry in the cases.The second thing that took me by surprise was the large selection of jewelry that was available but was disturbed that NONE OF IT had prices attached. Basically nothing was labeled with any type of price tag at all and this was concerning because you basically had to then take them at their word for what they said the prices were (eyebrows raised). Also, the price of the piercing WAS NOT included in the expensive cost of the jewelry. Paying let’s say for example $200 for jewelry then an additional $35 to have the piercing makes for a very expensive piercing. What can’t the price already include everything. When the lunch break was over jewelry type and cost was discussed. I felt the prices were steep but wasn’t sure of that was the norm because it’s been a while since I’ve had a piercing of any type. After picking what I wanted I then sat down to complete the waiver and other info on a iPad which was really cool. I will say the two ladies that were there made to keep things clean and sterile which I LOVED working in healthcare myself this was a PLUS. The young lady that did my piercing was nice and friendly. She explained everything and took her time with me as she pierced. The process was fast and I can honestly say not as painful as I remembered it being years ago. The experience overall was good. I would say the reason for not rating 5 stars was due to the way we were greeted and the prices along with cost labeling of their jewelry. I feel if you’re going to be on lunch then be on lunch and have locked doors with a sign up or something. This would prevent someone coming in during regular store hours and it being made to seem as if no help can be provided or questions answered during a time that wasn’t designated as lunch time on your website. Also put prices on the jewelry. How do I know for sure what is what regarding pricing. I trust that you’re honest but taking your word for things isn’t something everyone would be ok with doing. Otherwise good experience. Would recommend to others there!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this studio! I was in town for work and got my nose and helix pierced on a whim in July. The staff could not have been nicer and took wonderful care of me. When my helix jewelry broke a few months later, they went above and beyond to assist me in getting it repaired even though Im all the way in Georgia. Incredible service that you just dont find in most places these days. If you are contemplating getting a piercing, do it here!!!!

I went in to get a surface tragus after seeing the great reviews on Google. I was greeted by a nice receptionist and began looking at the jewelry. He showed me pieces that I could use and I ultimately decided on a blue that I loved. My total came to 125 which I paid with no issue. After paying the receptionist comes back and tells me that he needs to adjust the price because I need to purchase another piece???? I was very confused so the piercer, Michael, comes out and begins to explain but it still didn’t make sense to me so I politely asked for a refund, which the receptionist politely did. Michael, however, decided to loudly scoff at me in front of other customers as if I were the problem. I was already quoted a price which seemed a little high but I understand that fine jewelry can be expensive so I did not complain. But to be misquoted then treated like I did something wrong is crazy.

Got my nostril pierced here last week. Both people that I interacted with were so sweet and very helpful. They answered all of my questions and provided helpful information on post-care. The service wasnt too terribly painful and they were super quick about it. Minimal soreness that resolved in a couple of days. Will be back if I decide on another piercing!

I went to the West Ashley location to have my nose pierced. The store location itself is a little difficult to find but my GPS did bring me to it. Prior to this appointment I only had my ears pierced, using piercing gun and needles give me anxiety. Asia and Kae were so helpful from the moment I walked in the door. They gave expert suggestions to help me choose the right piece of jewelry. The atmosphere of the shop was friendly and fun, yet professional at the same time. The shop was clean and I appreciated the hygiene procedures during the piercing. Kae when changed her gloves (they were also different colors) after she finished cleaning and disinfecting the area but before she actually did the procedure. Kaes easy and funny nature helped me relax and eased my anxiety over a needle going into my nose. It honestly wasnt anything near as bad as I thought it would be. My piercing is beautiful and nicely placed. I did receive aftercare instructions in my email in addition to Kae reviewing them with me. Thanks to Asia and Kae for an amazing experience and the great piercing, I love it.

The ladies are second to NONE! This like my fourth piercing with these ladies with my 5 th already planned! Their attitudes combined with their personalities gives “customer service” a COMPLETELY different vibe. They are amicable, personable, friendly and tell you what’s in YOUR best interest versus theirs! Kae & Asia are THE BEST!!!

Kae & Asia were fantastic. They were incredibly knowledgeable about all things piercing and jewelry related. Kae was super kind and gentle when tapering my piercings and Asia was so helpful with selecting the right jewelry for me. I popped into the Sam Rittenberg location to see what they had as far as a new daith piece for my existing piercing as the one I had was giving me issues due to a fitment issue with my anatomy. I went in without an appointment and was greeted right away by a very bubbly person named Asia they were super nice and completely understanding about my issue and after speaking with the piercer Kae who’s VERY knowledgeable I was told that I would need to custom order a piece of jewelry that would be both functional and fashionable which was very important to me and what made me fall in love with the piercing in the first place. Asia quickly began looking at options online and turning the computer around to show me and honestly I was shocked at how much my likes and dislikes mattered to them because they really wanted me to walk away happy by choosing the right piece. Kae and Asia especially really took the time to hone in on a dream jewelry choice for me. Their attention to detail from everything I said what my likes,dislikes were to what my favorite colors were really mattered to them and I left completely satisfied that I would finally have something I would love. From start to finish I had exceptional customer service. Thank you both for your kindness and knowledge and the time you devoted to your craft and to my wants. You both are the reason why I want to continue making the hike out to your location for all my jewelry purchases.

I popped in looking for new jewelry right before they closed which is not recommended obviously for many reasons! Haha but Rogan was still very kind & even took a minute to look online for a specific piece that I had seen downtown.I then scheduled an appointment downtown for jewelry change and I highly recommend! There was no rush, I browsed, a few people helped & decided to place an order so even though I didn’t have my jewelry changed out during my appointment it was nice that they were able to allow me to take my time & give me their attention. I also had my piercing cleaned. Love MOLA! Not the cheapest but so worth it!!

I have nothing but great things to say! I was so nervous going into my appointment but Asia and Kae made me feel so comfortable and at ease! They both were very knowledgeable and kind… Asia helped me pick out the perfect jewelry and Kae was professional walking me through my piercing all while keeping the energy fun… which was exactly what I needed! Brought in my 5 year old in for ear lobes. Wonderful experience, clean, comfortable, the ladies put on a kids movie and made our daughter very at ease. Beautiful jewelry selection. Everything was explained, the piercing was quick and virtually painless, our daughter didnt even flinch. Highly recommend!

Wow! What a positive experience! Asia and Kae were such absolute professionals. I got a piercing for the 2nd time in the same place (over healed but scarred tissue) and I was expecting it to hurt WAY more than it did, but I was so pleasantly surprised that the pain was minimal compared to expectations 😁But pricey, but Im used to Tulsa prices, everything is more here in Charleston, and I knew I was paying for quality and cleanliness and the entire MOLA atmosphere!Planning to come back and get my notril pierced sometime in the near future!

Hands down, the best place, I went last night with my bf to get pierced! Asia was extremely accommodating with our appointments due to the weather and I really appreciated her kind customer service! Rogan was an AMAZING piercer who truly took the time with both of us. He was knowledgeable, patient, and kind.I would 10/10 recommend!!

Nice, experienced piercers in West Ashley but lack of pricing transparency. I walked in expecting to spend ~$200 based on the quotes from their website... I spent ~$450 ON 2 EAR PIERCINGS DOING IT THE CHEAPEST WAY PRESENTED.I scheduled for 2 piercings (ear lobe and tragus piercing) after seeing the piercing fee was $35/piercing and jewelry started at $45/earring. There is no pricing on the earrings on display in the shop, and the cheapest earrings prices they gave at my appointment were $130/earring so I picked two pieces I liked out of the least expensive ones they showed me. Then at checkout there was an additional $80 charge after the piercing fee and jewelry costs. I asked about the $80 charge and they said that is for the earring backs! $40 per earring BACK, and they do not include that in the pricing when they tell you the cost of the earring. It was more than I wanted to spend but the website says if you cancel inside of 24 hours of your appointment time they charge you for the appointment anyways so I just went with it. Then on my way out the piercer said I should come in after the swelling subsides and get shorter earrings posts which would be another $20/each. I didnt know about that before either. The actual piercing part was 10/10 (thank you to the great piercer!) but paying more than double what I expected based on the website made the overall experience uncomfortable.Side note- I went to the downtown MOLA years ago and got 5 ear piercings in one appointment. The piercer was a man and when I basically fainted after the 3rd piercing he told me to put my big girl panties on. It felt misogynistic. Not fun to be taunted by a man when you feel like youre about to vomit. Dont know if he still works there but Id ask for a woman or nonbinary piercer if you go downtown.

Kae is incredible! So thorough and gentle and made sure all my questions were answered initially. Took her time with consultation and brought me back for piercing appointment at her next available appointment so I could have the best level of care.Highly recommend !

I loved going to MOLA. I got my second lobes done and see myself coming back for more piercings in the future. The staff were so friendly and fun to be around, and they made me aware of every step in the process, even telling me when they were taking my jewelry to be sterilized. The process was quick and simple. They emailed me detailed aftercare and made sure I didnt have any questions before I left. I came in a little before my time and i was ready to go and out the door way quicker than I expected, but also helped two other people that walked in with issues they had with their piercings. I can not wait to come back!

Can’t say enough good things about this place! I’ve had horrible experiences with piercers before but this was far from that! Got my conch pierced with Kae. She and Asia were awesome and the whole experience was great. The studio is very clean and the girls were so inviting and fun! The quality of the jewelry is fantastic and have lots to choose from. It’s evident that they (as well as the company they represent) truly care about the individuals who come into their doors, not just the money they bring in.Not only do they have stellar customer service, but they are truly talented artists when it comes to piercings. Throughout my experience, I felt like the top priority of the parlor and will absolutely value their guidance when it comes to selecting my own jewelry and placement in the future. Their honestly, patience, and taste is rare in piercing parlors around the Charleston area. I took my daughter to get her 2nd lobe piercing and was so impressed! Asia greeted us and was super friendly and helpful. She walked us through all the details and steps. I loved that she really focused on talking to my daughter, since she was picking out her own jewelry and would be responsible for taking care of the piercing. Michael was also great at talking directly to my daughter, making sure she was happy with the placement and giving her options for future piercings. MOLA really excelled at customer service and safety protocols (sterilization). The whole process went perfect! They were even accommodating to my daughters friend who tagged along because she wants to get her ears pierced.

Just stopped in today to get my septum pierced, a little bit nervous as Ive never really had a professional piercing before. Asia and Kay IMMEDIATELY put me at ease with their fantastic personalities, warm nature and smooth, professional knowledge, answering every question and concern I had. We had a phenomenal time, the piercing itself was performed with swift, practiced ease and I felt safe in their confident hands. This is the last piercing studio Ill ever go to and could not praise them enough.

I’ve been to MOLA a few times and have had an amazing experience every time. They are clean, knowledgeable, professional, but also very out going, sweet, and make you feel so comfortable. Making an appointment through their website is super easy and I feel so comfortable every time I walk into their building. Kae is who pierced me and they are so sweet and made sure I had the correct anatomy for my piercing. After years of getting piercings I never knew just how important that was. Asia helped me with all the paper work, picking out jewelry, and pricing. They help so much with any questions I had, aftercare, and how to manage any irritation that may happen. They all respect pronouns, preferred names, and making you feel so comfortable with your body and your anatomy to make sure your piercing looks as amazing as it can. I will never go anywhere else for piercings, I’ve never felt so happy with the outcome and experience of getting one. They also have such a nice selection of good, high quality, and pretty jewelry. I would recommend them to anyone who asked.

Kae was absolutely amazing with my first navel piercing. They explained everything as we went along with each touch so I knew exactly what was happening. I was not nervous whatsoever, and did not feel rushed in any way. So happy with how it turned out, and all the aftercare was explained perfectly. The pain was super minimal, too :) thank you!!!

I had recently gotten a septum piercing from another place, that my friend recommended, but it didnt look quite right to me and was hurting a bit, so I called here and Brian took a look at it for me, super friendly and really cool people. I am very grateful.Update: I have since gotten 2 piercings from them (septum & eyebrow) and they have healed beautifully. I am very happy with their work!

I would highly recommend this place! I had seen the great reviews and decided to get my second holes done here. I am so glad I did! Rebekah was incredible! She made me feel at ease throughout the entire thing and gave me very thorough information about the type of earrings they use versus ones you may get at other piercing places, as well information about taking care of my new piercings. The man assisting me in the front was also incredibly helpful and nice. Overall I could not have asked for a better or easier experience. I am definitely considering getting my cartilage pierced and if I can get up my courage, I will absolutely be back! Thank you again!

Kae and Asia were fantastic. I came in with my mom initially for her navel piercing and they were both extremely knowledgeable about the process and helping her pick out the right jewelry. I thought the experience was so great that I came back a few days later to get my nose pierced! I even showed early and they were able to accommodate me before the next person showed up! I’ll definitely be coming back for future piercings.

At first I was extraordinarily anxious about getting this done. The staff was super understanding, friendly and were able to talk me through this. Everything was super clean and comfortable. They were fine with me taking a moment after the first piercing (which honestly was not painful, maybe mildly uncomfortable.) They were able to switch my appointment with a friend’s upon request and even took us in early. They cleaned in between us which was made the process a whole lot easier. Overall, an amazing experience! Thank you!

I received a nostril piercing here, and I had a great experience! I was really nervous about it, but Kae and Asia were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and they helped me push past it! The studio was clean and the jewelry is great quality. I’ll be coming back in the future! Highly recommend and worth the prices.

I got my cartilage pierced and I had the best experience! The staff was super knowledgeable and professional. Kay was was dedicated to cleanliness and following regulations. Also the staff’s personality made it feel like a safe, funny and friendly space. I already booked my next appointment.

If they think you dont have money or if your black they dont serve you, or properly serve you....

My mom and I both got some additional ear piercings here and the experience was amazing! The staff was so courteous and helpful—the woman at the front desk was great and asked awesome questions to help me decide what earrings best fit my style, and the woman who did my piercings was so kind and calm and really set me at ease. The process for booking an appointment online through their website was super easy and efficient. Highly recommend!!

I was really impressed with MOLA Piercing and Fine Jewelry. I had my earlobes pierced at 13, and never had anything else pierced in the last 20 years! I went to MOLA to get a double helix piercings three months ago.I felt like everything was incredibly sanitary, plus the piercer was experienced.Everyone was very helpful when I went in to have the posts shortened, and needed to come back because one was still swelling.I went in again to get a second earlobe piercing this week. I was very happy with the piercings, plus I was able to have my other question about my helix piercing answered. I wouldnt go anywhere else if I wanted another piercing.

My son (6yrs) and I came in to have our ear lobes pierced. As always, the staff was warm and welcoming upon our arrival. After picking out our jewelry, Laura greeted us and brought us to a room. She was so great with my nervous, little guy. She explained everything she was doing so he could fully understand, as she pierced me first. When it was his turn he jumped in the chair with no hesitation. Not one tear shed, and he was absolutely thrilled with the results! Such a wonderful experience and now a great memory we’ll share forever! Thank you so much for taking care of us both!

I got a nostril piercing a few months ago and placed an appointment online. I went in the next day and was greeted outside by my piercer. She was super friendly and definitely helped me to not feel so nervous. She helped to walk me through everything as it was only my 2nd piercing. It was a great experience overall but the only thing I would say is a downside would be my price for the piercing. I called the night before when scheduling my piercing and they said that the initial piercing was 45 dollars and then any price after that was just for the jewelry. And when asked, they said their jewelry price for a nostril started at 40 dollars. But when I went in the next day, she asked what my price range was and she said she wouldn’t be able to give us anything for our price range which was 60 dollars. She then said the price started at around 75 for jewelry. I ended up not liking the 75 dollar one and ended up having to get one that was priced at 115 dollars!! Multiple times, we told her we were clueless and didn’t know what we should get because we had never bought jewelry before. So, I’m not sure if maybe she took advantage of us? Though they have lots of ranges of jewelry and such, I find it weird that we were told different things and ended up having to pay an extreme amount of money. Total price after piercing, jewelry, tip, and cleaner, was over 200 dollars. When I asked multiple other people who went to other piercing places, they said they were able to get a nostril piercing for under 100. I find it ridiculous that I had to pay this amount. Though I’m extremely happy with the piercing and my experience, I’m not so happy with what I had to pay to get it done. Especially when I know I could have gone somewhere else and gotten it way cheaper.

I have multiple ear piercings but wish they had all been done at MOLA! Both staff members working were so professional and knowledgable while making it a fun and low-stress experience. Excited to come back in the future!

The two who helped me today were simply wonderful. I was nervous about getting my piercing and they both were very helpful, open, and fun! It was a very comfortable environment and I would highly recommend getting any piercings here. If I plan on getting more I know where I’m coming back too!

Decided to replace my cartilage piercing and made an appointment with MOLA on their website. Walked in on time and was immediately greeted by Asia and Kae. I provided them with my preferences and they were so attentive and helpful. Such a great shopping experience and I love my new jewelry! Ill be back soon!!

Recently took my daughter for another set of ear piercings. Kaye was amazing and they took great care of my girl. I wouldnt go anywhere else for piercings. My kids still ask to go back and say hi. I recommend them to anyone looking for a safe, hygienic, and relaxing experience.

MOLA is West Ashley is where you MUST GO for your piercings. (I’ve been to the downtown one too, which was equally as wonderful.) It is so clean and open and the whole process from start to finish was awesome. Asia welcomed me when I got there and was so sweet. Asia also gave me an opinion on what type of jewelry I should get for my septum piercing without being pushy, and was so patient when it took me awhile to choose. Kae was my piercer and was kind and funny and so professional. They let me know what has happening every step of the way and before I knew it, I had a rad new piercing. (And two new friends, at least in my mind haha) 5 Stars!

My daughter and I went to the Summerville location; it was a great experience! I had my nose pierced and my daughter had her helix pierced. Brian and Alisa were extremely friendly and professional. They put us at ease through the whole process and we are so happy with our piercings! Highly recommend MOLA!

First of all, the studio itself was spotless and well-organized. The piercing room was very clean and my piercer made sure to sterilize all the tools she was going to use in front of me as she explained the process and after-care. She was very relaxed and seemed comfortable with what she was doing, which was great. She answered all of my questions happily. Overall it was an easy process and easy on the wallet. I would be quick to name it one of the best professional piercing shops in the Charleston area.

We got our daughters ears pierced yesterday. She got her second hole. She was able to make custom earrings. They were very clean and professional. They have a life time warranty (no questions). I highly recommend Museum of Living Arts Body Piercing. We had Rebekah and she talked to my daughter so she understood. She was so nice and friendly. This was after Claire’s messed up several years ago. We will be back in the future.

I took my two daughters (9 & 11) for back-to-back appointments to MOLA to get their ears pierced. First off, this place is SO clean and when it comes to a kids lobe visit, they really made it feel so personalized. There was a Disney movie playing in the lobby / store area and Kay, our WONDERFUL piercing artist, even had a kids bop playlist playing in the piercing room. I just had my Daith pierced by Laura she did an amazing job, she is very informative and knows what she is doing!! The experience was wonderful and the place is so peaceful, relaxing and very very clean! I will definitely be going back for all my piercings needs. Plus they have a great selection of jewelry!

I brought myself and both kids to get pierced by Kae. First off, Asia helped us with the jewelry selection and check-in process and they were awesome about explaining the flow of our visit. Kae spoke with me ahead of time, and offered to have my daughter visit prior to her visit so Kae could walk her through everything to expect and feel empowered to be in control of her body the whole time. Kae is just A+ in our book. We are so grateful for Kaes patience, respect for kids bodily autonomy, and making the whole experience feel safe, comfortable, and enjoyable. Very disappointed. I used to shop and get pierced here all the time, throughout the years. Today I went in at open to look for some plugs and wanted to buy some gold jewelry. Was told I couldnt look around because they did not have time for people to just shop around. Thats a quick way to lose business. Left disappointed and with no new gold. Also told that if i did want to look around that I needed to make an appointment just to buy a pice of jewelry? Just shocked.

It has been a week since I have gotten my cheeks pierced at Museum of Living Arts, I do not regret it! The quality of the piercing is phenomenal. I have had no problem with infection of any sorts. Laura gave me great tips and info on how to care for my cheeks during the healing process, which helped a bunch! The shop was well cleaned and gave off a great vibe. The process of the piercing was quick and thorough, would you believe it didnt hurt? I recommend this shop over any other in Charleston, because of the friendly and professional atmosphere and the knowledge they have about piercing. 2 thumbs up for Museum of Living Arts!

This place is one of the cleanest and most professional shop anywhere near.I have been considering a piercing for about five months after visiting numerous piercing studio in the surrounding area. I was blown away by the level of professionalism and overall knowledge not to mention the extremely high quality of the jewelry sold.Rebekah made me feel like an old friend and walk me through the entire process from beginning to end.it’s true you get what you pay for.And I had a unbelievably great customer experience !

Of all the piercing studios Ive been to, the Museum of Living Arts has been the best. I came here, after a coworker highly recommended them, to redo my ears and see about a Rook that had been giving me issues.The studio itself was very clean and tasteful. My artist was also extremely professional, and knowledgeable. I ended up getting a longer barbell for my Rook and it has made a world of difference. The prices arent bad either. I would recommend the Museum of Living arts to anyone looking to get a new piercing.

I was very anxious getting my first piercing, but my anxiety disappeared at the hands of Kae and Asia. They were very professional and walked me through every single step of the process. Kae cleaned everything thoroughly and made it so easy to feel comfortable as I got my ears pierced. Afterwards, they answered a million questions and were patient with me as I walked through it all. I couldn’t have been more grateful for their professionalism, helpfulness, and kindness.

Went in today to replace my septum jewelry as I lost the ball on mine. Were on vacation, so I just googled a parlor to get the right jewelry and picked the closest one. I am happy that it was MOLA. I was so impressed. Brian was friendly and very knowledgeable about the jewelry. Michael was very skilled and quite gentle while replacing the jewelry. If I had had time to get new piercings, I wouldve gotten some just because these two were great.

I got my nose pierced yesterday as a Christmas present and couldnt be happier. The shop is clean, no dust on anything. The earrings and such are nicely organized. The people are super professional and nice. The guy who pierced my nose was very informative and wonderful. It was a pleasant experience all around.

I could not be happier with my experience here!! Everything was really clean and Barkley was EXTREMELY professional and knowledgeable. She answered all of my questions and calmed me down with chit-chat because I was noticeably nervous. I got two helix piercings from Barkley and she talked me through what she was going to do before and during my piercing. If you want to have anything pierced go to MOLA! Their prices are super reasonable but not at the detriment to cleanliness or professionalism!

I got my septum pierced Saturday and Im so happy I went here. The museum of living arts is the only place Ive gotten all of my Cartlidge piercings done and I would recommend it to a friend 10 out of 10. Everyone is so friendly and so nice. It would be hard to have a bad experience here. They are so good at explaining and answering all your questions they have and will always explain things again if necessary. I cant imagine going anywhere else to get anything done because the service here is so amazing. The people working at the museum of living arts are truly talented and amazing people.

I got my nose pierced at MOLA in August. I had practically no background information on the piercing I wanted, what kind of jewelry, how to take care of it, etc. but Laura helped me out tremendously. She showed me all of the options they had in the store, thoroughly explained how to take care of it afterwards, and was overall very helpful and kind. I have had no complications, infections, issues, etc. after my initial piercing because they did such a good job piercing it and explaining how to take proper care of it. Ive recommended it to many people after my experience there.

I went here for a daith piercing, I explained that I suffer from migraines. The girl was very honest, piercing is not a medical treatment. Its mostly a placebo effect.If you dont love the look of a piercing dont do it. Her honesty was refreshing, she could of taken my money did piercing and went about her day. But she didnt! So although I didnt get a piercing, for those that love piercing I recommend this place. The space was extremely clean and staff will not waste your time or your money.

I have been here for multiple piercings and I have referred several friends here because I want them to have a great experience also. The rooms are kept clean and the workers are very sanitary. The piercings are done well and the workers make sure you know how to take care of them. If youre looking for a good place to get a new piercing, this is the place to go. The only place I will go.

Got my 2nd hole in my ear done a few weeks ago at Heat Street in Florence while visiting my parents out of town. They recommended that I come here if I had any questions or any issue came up. Came here today to get my 3rd hole in each ear. Rebekah took great care of me and made my ears look ever better than before! If I decide to get another piercing Ill definitely be returning here!

I cant recommend this shop more! It is super clean and welcoming. I got my philtrum pierced last Saturday and my piercer took her time and made sure the placement was perfect! The staff is very knowledgeable, kind and professional. They also have a WIDE range of jewelery from affordable to luxury. I cant wait to get more piercing and jewelery here. Although this shop is on the pricey end, the jewelry is high end and the piercers are fabulous! They are very knowledgeable about placement as well as the jewelry they offer. Just be prepared to pay more if you want something other than a plain barbell. I shelled out nearly $500 on two cartilage piercings, most of that being the jewelry I chose, as you can see in the pic.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at MOLA! I went to get my belly button done and was scared out of my mind but the staff was awesome! LOVED my experience here. I went in for a nose piercing and learned that due to a health issue I would need to have a medical form completed by my physician before I could continue. Rebekah handled the situation with such care and professionalism, made sure I had what I needed, and I was able to get it signed and return the next day. Jadia handled my actual piercing and she was absolutely wonderful. She explained every step, was tremendously calming, and walked me through the entire experience. Really cant say enough good things about the team there, especially Rebekah and Jadia. Absolutely wonderful.

Long story short, I got a cheap piercing in March at the best place my hometown had to offer (read: still not great) and have been dealing with non stop infection/inflammation/irritation since then from this terrible externally threaded piece of jewelry. I finally decided to bite the bullet and stop into MoLA to get some new jewelry. Brian was soooo knowledgeable about everything me and my roommate threw at him, from facial piercings that scar the least, to stretched ear care. He helped me design a beautiful custom navel bar with implant graden metal, titanium, and black opal (!!!). My initial plan fell through after Michael (the piercer) professionally recommended that I shouldnt get it, just due to the anatomy of my stomach, which I really appreciated and Im not even disappointed just because the jewelry is so rockin. Even when they couldnt get the jewelry just perfectly aligned, he told me to stop back in tomorrow so they could keep working on it for me. I was greeted by name and helped by Rebecca who was awesome as well. Super friendly and told me to stop back in in a month so she could make sure I was healing alright. Considering I didnt get pierced at their shop, they still took care of me and I keep coming back. Their jewelry is expensive, but its also beautiful and extremely high quality stuff that is customizable and you can make payments on. After 24 hours of having this new jewelry in my previously super irritated navel, its stopped hurting and its not swollen at all. Seriously, come here and dont cheap out. This is some jewelry youll have forever (or at least until you see another gorgeous piece on their Instagram).

I have gotten all three of my body piercings done at the Museum of Living Arts and wouldnt go to any other body piercing facility in Charleston. The atmosphere as well as the service is far more than amazing and I am happy to say that I havent had one infection or problem with any of my piercings! In two years Ive been pierced by Rebekah twice, first for an upper lobe piercing in both ears and finally for my latest daith piercing in my left ear. Shes phenomenal and I cant say enough good things about her. She tells you everything you need to know just prior to the piercing, in terms of expectations, pain, and after care. Its been three plus weeks now since Ive had my daith piercing and, truly, it has been my easiest piercing to date. I was super, super nervous before getting it but Rebekah made it so easy. I highly recommend the Museum of Living Arts for any piercing you want done. For both of my piercings I purchased the jewelry they sell there at the shop. Their jewelry is high quality, Ive never had a bad reaction or not been complimented on the style.

I got a cartlige piercing from here in May 2018. My piercing turned out fine but my experience was far less than pleasant. I picked out the earring I wanted with assistance from a worker and she told me what size I needed. No problems so far. I waited 20 minutes while it was being sterilizated only for them to tell me it wasn’t the correct size. I had to pick out another earring and in the process the piercing artist was rushing me to pick something out and at the same time was trying to convince me to get a completely different piercing; which she explained was due to my ear shape which I understand, but the way she went about it was very pressurizing, pushy, intimidating, and in all honesty, quite rude. However, I stayed with the cartlige piercing.I then had to wait another 20 minutes to get pierced. The piercing process was very rushed. I asked it I could have my piercing lower the slightest bit, and she bluntly told me, “if you want to do that you’ll have to get a different earring and wait at least another 20 minutes for it to sterilize”. I had already been waiting for 40+ minutes so I wanted it over with at this point. The piercing artist also rushed me through all of the information regarding “side effects” that could result from the piercing as well as care. Information that I needed to know since the only piercings I had at the time were my lobe and upper lobe. On top of all of that, It was VERY overpriced. Most places charge $75-$80 to my knowledge but my total ended up being 100+ not including tip.A few months later I went back for a checkup to see if the piercing had migrated. The same women who pierced my cartlige looked at my ear and said I needed a smaller post, but they currently didn’t have the size I needed. The piercing artist called the downtown location (which I appreciated) and gave me a $5 discount. She told me they had my size at the downtown location and to go there to get my post changed.Soon after, I went to the downtown location. I explained how I was told I needed a smaller post. The piercing artist there looked at my ear for a second and said “it looks fine, you can leave”. Once again, it felt very rushed. After the 6 month time period before I could switch my piercing was up, I went to a different piercing studio to get it changed and I had a tremendously better experience. I wish I had gone there in the first place.In conclusion, the atmosphere was incredibly rushed, tense, and pressuring making the entire experience unsettling. Yes, my piercing turned out fine, however, I believe the experience plays a big factor such as the decision to get more piercings, if to go to the same place or not, ones attitude towards piercings, and most of all, the bad (or good) memory that is now associated with the piercing etc..Needless to say, I unfortunately did not have a good first experience at a piercing studio. I am not planning on coming back here in the future, nor would I recommend this place. But to add a positive, the jewelry and store are beyond expectation when it comes to cleanliness.

The price for piercing was fair, and the woman who did the job was pleasant, but there isn’t much jewelry to choose from, and all of it is ridiculously overpriced. I wouldn’t suggest anyone come here unless they plan to pay a whole lot more than they expected to. There are better piercing shops around that don’t charge absurd amounts for junk jewelry.

Went in to get a nose piercing...something Ive been wanting for a while, but finally had the guts to do. First off, the store is very clean & bright. And second (most importantly) Richard, the piercer, was very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. He answered all of my questions (I had a lot) and put me at ease throughout the whole process. I would definitely recommend MOLA.

Compared to the piercing parlors I went to in Charlotte, NC Living Arts is overpriced and the selection of jewelry in my size is small. Ive been to both locations and wasted both my money and time, leaving completely unsatisfied with no resolution. Today I told them I didnt like the color of the ring they attempted to dye gold for me. They tried to sell me another ring for double the price of the first one I am currently unhappy with and were going to dye this one too. I walked to cut my losses. $62 later I am stuck with this bronze, tarnished-looking ring in my septum until I can find a better look somewhere else.

Got my nipples pierced here. The guy who pierced them was very professional and knowledgeable about the piercing/jewelry, and the after care of it . I was very nervous and indecisive; however, he kept me calm and laughing throughout the process. I always go to MOLA for my jewelry and sometimes just to say hi. I also recommended so many other friends and now we all always go back! MOLA is awesome and the people there! 💖

I went to visit the shop on Halloween and was OVERLY IMPRESSED. I don’t think I can go anywhere but here to get my next piercings. I came in to get an anti tragus piercing and to have a piercing removed that was not done properly from another shop. The whole entire energy when walking into the door is awesome. The shop is so clean and professional and the jewelry offered is very beautiful and high quality. The piercer and the receptionist were so professional and helpful. I walked in with a piercing nightmare (from another shop) and walked out OVERLY AMAZED. I love my new anti tragus piercing so much. This shop deserves 5 STARS!!!!!!

I went here to get my 5yr olds ears pierced. I choose this place for their sanitary practices and line of implant grade titanium earrings. For those reasons I am glad and satisfied. I just wish there was a more child friendly version in the low country. Not their fault that there arent any other high quality piercing options for kids...just my opinion. My daughter definitely needed some handholding and consoling which was in short supply. Im sure thier specialty isnt kids but it is a service they offer and really the only option around for what I was looking for.

I called to make an appointment for 6 piercings. Due to Covid I ordered fine earrings on line from a fine jeweler so I wouldn’t spend much time in this place with a mask on, trying to choose earrings and sizes, but was told that I had to buy their products to have it done. I told them that it sounds like you don’t want my business. I will take it elsewhere!

For my 23rd birthday, I decided to get a navel piercing. After searching the internet for a few days, I came across MOLAs website and noticed immediately that they were creative and knowledgeable but also professional. I visited the next day and was greeted promptly, as well as being able to make an appointment for a same-day piercing (though I could tell they were busy). Upon returning, Richard informed me of what to expect with the act of piercing and proper aftercare. Additionally, he kept good conversation and is just an overall cool guy. He was precise in piercing, which was quick and easy; took maybe a total of 10 minutes. I am so happy with it and would recommend MOLA to anyone who wants to have quality work done by knowledgeable artists with a passion for customer satisfaction.

I went in on yesterday to get a tragus piercing. I hate getting my ears pierced but I really wanted to get this done. Laura was AWESOME. So terrible. i waited for 30 minutes, still wasnt taken care of and barely acknowledged. once i came up to ask a question, told me i wasnt fit for the 2nd piercing i had been waiting for on my belly button. then went on to tell me i should have never gotten the one i had using a condescending tone and calling me honey. then rudely telling me to stop touching my belly piercing ive had for 5 years now which she told me to show her 3 seconds before. she turned away and when i went back up to explain how i didnt appreciate the rude tone and such, she told me to calm down and walked away. the WORST service ive ever received or seen. they dont know what theyre taking about.wish i could put 0 stars.

The receptionist was extremely rude. They are trying to keep things sterile, but they dont need to be rude about it. They dont even keep hand sanitizer out. The woman who actually did the piercing was very nice.

MOLA is BY FAR the best body piercing shop I have ever seen. Starting with the owner Laura; most business owners are in it for one thing, The Money. Laura, however is one of the most intelligent individuals, both in and out of the business world that I have ever met. She listened to me fuss and grumble about getting my septum pierced. She doesnt give you any B.S. Quite the oppisite, she tells it like it is and is very understanding. The other Laura that was present; man I cant say enough about her as well. Both very friendly and business smart, oh and did I mention that both ladies are very beautiful =O). I really could go on and on about the wonderful experience I got to share with MOLA, but I will just say I would recommend them to anyone. Best Around! Oh and dont worry, the prices are very reasonable.

MOLA family are very professional and friendly. They are so patient with you. All sterilized tools was opened in front of me. The studio is spotless. I truly will recommend my friends there.

My mother and I went in on 2/14/13 and got a tragus piercing in each ear. Richard performed the piercing, he was very patient and explained everything he was going to do before doing it. Everything was clean and well taken care of. If I decide to get another piercing, I will go back to MOLA and request Richard again!

I felt very uncomfortable and it was definitely overpriced for what I got, and there’s extra fees I was not aware of. Also, prices of jewelry was no where to be seen. Definitely recommend somewhere different.

Store is clean and jewelry is well showcased. Lovely jewelry selections albeit a bit pricey. Janelle is wonderful. The owner, eh. My recommendation is to ask for a written receipt with the printout receipt.

They were super nice and professional. I got some beautiful titanium stud earrings and they put them in for me. They made sure that they were anodized to the same color as my septum jewelry.

Wish I could give 0 stars. I was excited about starting some gauges and needed advice or help. It was like a ghost town in there. I thought they closed at 8, but I guess no one works there. I even yelled hello a few times and no one came out. I called while inside. No one answered. So much for their good reviews.

Incredibly rude and condescending staff. To insult me literally less than a minute after walking into the shop without even asking my name or finding out anything about me or my experience with my pirecings is not a way to earn business . If you truly want to educate your potential customers, make them feel welcome first, and show them that youre interested in helping rather than talking down to them without even standing up from the desk .

This place is great!! I saw Janelle and she was awesome. I had so many questions and was afraid to get a nose piercing but she was super helpful and nice and did a great job, also her music was the great and gave the place a great feel!!

The place was clean and up to code but the piercer shook so bad she had difficulty putting the ball on my piercing. And it took almost an hour just to get my piercing, she took two people who came in after me and did their piercings before mine.

A great almost painless experience! The artist was so particular that it look right, she had to take out the first attempt and do it a second time. That wasnt as much fun but I really appreciate her care and not having to walk out with a bad piercing.

I had a very positive experience here! I had my high earlobe done and the piercer explained to me the different care instructions and piercing information for different parts of my ear to help me make an informed decision about where I wanted my piercing to be! Thanks MOLA!

Shop Policies are way to strict to maintain business. Mentality of the customer is right doesnt apply. Another problem is parking, which is not good at this business. Trying to pull out back onto the road is dangerous.

I came here to have one of my dermals screwed back in, because it fell out while I was at the movies. They were able to get it back in with as little of pain as possible. It took the girl a while because the hole had closed a bit, but she got it. They charged me $5.00 I believe.
