Matt Simmons is awesome. He’s done a few of my boyfriend’s tattoos and I decided to go to him for an arm tattoo that I had designed myself. He brought it to life and perfected it of course. He was incredibly nice and it was my favorite tattoo experience. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for new ink!!! Thanks Matt! I’m excited to get more work done by you in the future.

I loved the staff ,the location was amazing, Erin P..was the best piercer and made my son feel like he was specials. Erin was very attentive to his needs and properly using the autoclave on the jewelry pieces.Shes going places in life and so is this amazing 510 expert tatttos and body piercing family..

I was in tonight to get my industrial pierced. I don’t know who the man is who pierced me but he was shaking uncontrollably from the moment I got to his table. He spent over 40 minutes marking up my ear to find proper placement. The entire time he was shaking, he would erase a mark he made and continue to do the same thing over and over again. He told me to lay down on the wrong side the piercing was supposed to be on. I told him that was the wrong side and he replied “oh yeah duh I forgot”. He wasn’t making sense with his vocabulary. I was very scared and that’s coming from someone who has had many piercings and tattoos from this establishment. He finally got around to piercing the top part of the industrial, and he then walked away from the needle still visibly in my ear to then mark the second hole which took him another 5 or so minutes. I knew something wasn’t right. I thought he was done with the entire piercing to be honest. Turns out he was no where near being finished. My friend got up to look and there was a huge pool of blood on the table under my head and coated in my hair. He then proceeded to say he needed to try again with the piercing. I was confused as to what this meant. I then asked if he was going to re-pierce a second hole and he became confused and argumentative. He said he needed to re-angle it. I was shaking and felt very nauseous. I asked him to please stop the service and he got more argumentative. I was so uncomfortable and quite frankly, traumatized. I ended up leaving with my entire ear bandaged up. This is completely unacceptable to have someone that inexperienced and rude working there. It’s a a complete safety concern for all other at this establishment. Also, there were no wavers signed and zero accountability for his actions. He was very cold and seemed like he was on something. I want to let everyone know not to come here for their safety.His apology and I quote was…“I’m sorry, but it happens”… OH! A co-worker thought it was a good idea to put a half eaten bag of chips in my face while this was happening…

I am on session four and I can’t say enough about Justin and my experience. From design to cover ups he’s been fantastic. I have a fun time getting tattooed and the entire staff is helpful and fun to be around 7 bazzalion stars if I could.

I went to 510 yesterday to have my nose piercing changed for the first time since getting it done over the summer. Jill was super knowledgeable and sweet, and the process was incredibly quick and painless. Really liked their selection of jewelry. Will definitely be back in a few months when I can graduate to hoops and other things. Thanks!

Highly recommend for piercings!I came here for my first ever piercing (cartilage) and had a great experience. Kendall was recommended to me by a different tattoo shop, and she did not disappoint! She was kind, patient, and very knowledgeable. She gave me great instructions for after care and her contact information in case I have questions later on. Would 100% recommend!

I never write reviews, but thought it was necessary to write one after my experience here today. I got my helix cartilage pierced back in December 2021 at a different tattoo shop in Charlotte. I thought it was pretty legit and would be satisfied but my piercing wasn’t healing… at all. After about two months, I went back into the shop to get a professional opinion on whether my piercing was infected or if it was healing properly. I was told that everything was fine and I just needed to continue to clean it. I walked out and gave it three more months. Cleaning regularly, I even tried at home treatments (tea bag to bring down swelling) but nothing changed. Finally, I went into 510 today because Erin was having walk-in piercings. She was so helpful and much more knowledgeable on the piercing process as opposed to what I previously dealt with. She changed my jewelry for me and informed me that the other place used the wrong jewelry. I’m so thankful that she took the issue more seriously. While it has only been a few hours with my new jewelry in, I trust that Erin’s work will help heal my piercing (finally!). I will DEFINITELY be back in store for either another piercing or maybe even a tattoo. Highly recommend!

I had an appointment to get two piercings from Erin. I had never gotten a body piercing before and she made me feel safe and comfortable. The piercing was more painful than I’d anticipated so I was only able to get one, but Erin assured me that even though my appointment was for two piercings, it was totally fine if I wasn’t up for getting both. I’ll definitely be going back to get the other in the future.Regarding atmosphere and cleanliness, there’s art everywhere. The shop is tastefully cluttered, but not junky or messy. Because of COVID, the shop is taking appointments only. All of the staff were masked (as was I), and they didn’t have anyone in the waiting area. The needles and jewelry were in sterile packages, which I know is standard practice, but it’s still nice to see.Overall, the shop had nice atmosphere and was clean without feeling sterile or impersonal. The staff were all really friendly and Erin, my piercer, was friendly and supportive. She made me feel comfortable and safe, and didn’t pressure me to get the other piercing I came in for when she noticed how I reacted to the first one. I’m excited to return to the shop, and since it’s accessible by light rail, it’ll be my first choice for any other piercings I want to get.

Tonight I had the spur of a moment idea to get my nipples pierced. My husband did a quick Google search of places close to us and found this shop. After a quick phone call, they accepted me as a walk in. Ben was my piercer. He was very professional, knowledgeable and accommodating. He took the time to make sure everything was even and straight and that I was happy with his marks before he pierced them. Thankfully he was fast and efficient, especially with it being a rather sensitive area.

My friend Cearra and I went into today to get a navel piercing and a rook piercing! 510 has always been the cleanest, most professional shop i’ve ever gotten tattoos/piercings at, and the staff is always super genuine & down to earth. Our piercer today was Erin and she was amazing. So very kind, extremely sterile, and extremely helpful! I also purchased a tragus ring for my old piercing that i have had for years and she put it in for me. Overall a wonderful experience. I highly recommend 510 in general, and Erin for sure as a wonderful piercer!

A fantastic shop!!! Everyone in this shop has been so friendly, knowledgeable, and very upfront about pricing, aftercare and other relevant information. I got three piercings from this shop and felt fully informed about every step of the process and how to care for each after. Additionally, when I lost a gem on one of them it was replaced immediately at no charge. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. I will always get piercings here.

My husband and I walked in on a Saturday for me to get nipple piercings, and got in within 20 minutes. I was TERRIFIED, but Ben made me feel WAY better about everything. I was in the open tattoo parlor (not in a private room) and there were only men. Every single person was respectful and not once looked at me with my shirt off. Ben walked me through every single step and made me feel at ease. It honestly wasn’t as bad as I thought! I highly recommend this place for piercings!!!

I came in to get a line work tattoo of my cat in Nov 22.Unfortunately, I am now getting the tattoo removed. The line work is inconsistent and looks like I did it myself :( I wish that the artist had told me that he was not skilled in the tattoo style that I wanted and turned me away. Outside of the quality, the tattoo itself is not what I wanted - but the artist could only trace a picture and did not seem able/willing to even draw the tail instead of tracing the tail.I am giving two stars because the artist was nice and the shop experience is what you would expect from a quality shop.

Mark has been tattooing me for 12 years now. Never disappointed. Mellow environment. I get what I want and it always turn out great. Joseph has pierced me several times. Very professional and my piercings do great. They are reasonable and friendly and its overall a great place. Highly recommend it.

I recently got my nose pierced here. Ben was my piercer. He was knowledgeable, quick and above all else- they were very clean. I love my piercing, and I haven’t had any issues from mine (going on 2 weeks). I’d highly recommend them to anyone in the area.

Got my first tattoo today from Matt at 510 Expert Tattoo and I LOVE it!! Matt was very nice and patient with me, as I was rather nervous. I really wanted this tattoo though because both the triple infinity and the saying have very special/ personal meaning to me. Matt did a great job! The shop had a good vibe and I felt comfortable there. I definitely recommend!

Michael was SO. DOPE. such expertise and cleanliness was 100% for my piercing! He made sure I was all okay and did exactly what I wanted to do. And Ben was there hittin the moves to make me laugh the entire time. Such a great team, and they all work together to make sure you’re taken care of and has the best results I could have asked for!!! My artist, Matt did a wonderful job on the tattoo.The only thing I can say they lacked on is the aftercare information. I probably should have asked, but I was super excited about the tattoo and forgot. Amazing! I went in for two piercings and was insanely nervous but they made me feel at ease especially considering that I was anxious about undressing. I recently went in to get new jewelry for my Monroe and Joseph was incredible. He was super gentle and very quick and the price was extremely reasonable. Everyone that was there was super friendly and helpful. He didnt actually pierce my Monroe but if I decide to get anything else pierced I will definitely be going back. You wont be disappointed if you choose them :D

My mom and I came to 510 expert tattoo in need of two tragus piercings. Michael was fantastic he kept good conversation and made my mom and I feel really comfortable and got the piercings done quick and easy. The environment was clean and very friendly. I got my nose pierced a few weeks ago here. Super clean, friendly, professional and quick! No appointment but no wait. Quick, painless and easy. Went in for a quote but was happily greeted and accommodated as a walk in. Justin is one of the kindest artists Ive met, lots of shops have made me feel like I was wasting their time, not 510. I definitely found a new home tattoo shop and cant wait to visit again.

Michael took me as a walk-in last night for a nose piercing, and he was excellent. I hadnt had my nose pierced for 6 years, so I was nervous to have it redone again because the last time I had it pierced, it was pretty painful.Michael took the time to measure and trim my seamless hoop, and also showed me what it would look like without me prompting him. I love my piercing and would definitely go back - thanks!

Had a great experience. I went with my wife and sister. We all saw different artists at the same time. The staff and artists were all very friendly and professional. Brandon Naples did the art for me. He did an excellent job with the design. I gave him the starting point and a very specific idea. I asked him to embellish around that. He had a clear idea and design that accompanied it perfectly. It was a great experience and I would recommend highly.

I had my nose pierced recently at the Noda location by Erin. She did an amazing job! I cant express enough how professional and efficient she was in ensuring my nose was pierced correctly and that I was happy on where exactly to do it. I literally felt nothing! All I felt was pressure on my nose but I never felt the needle and when she inserted the jewelry I also barely even felt that. She has a good hand at what she does! Go to Erin for sure 😊

Excellent tattoo spot!! The artist who helps me Matt is a super cool guy and extremely talented artist. And truth be told I think everyone there is great at what they do, it just so happens Matt was the guy I went to first. Hes done 3 tattoos for me so far and I honestly dont think theres a design or style they cant do. Id recommend them to anyone.

My best friend and I got our second set of tattoos at 510 Expert Tattoos just after Christmas. We both went in with pretty firm ideas about what we wanted. Mark was absolutely amazing! Both designs came out perfectly even with the small details! I would recommend these guys to everyone I know (and I have)! They really make you feel like friends instead of just a paycheck. And you simply cant beat their prices! Hands down, 510 Expert Tattoo is the best place for tattoos in the Charlotte Area.

Was ok at first but I had a lot if issues with my piercing. The piercer Erin didnt want to deal with it I guess. Plus I never received the saline solution. I dont plan to go back although they were nice at firsf.

My daughter was super worried about getting her ears pierced and Ben did a great job making her feel ok with the process and loved it. They did suck a great job my wife and mother in law got their ears repierced. I also got my first Tattoo from Zack. Nothing crazy but he was great and did a fantastic job!

We love 510 and all of the artist here. We’ve had several tattoos done and also have friends who have work done here. I love recommending the artist and their work because of its high quality. Everyone is excellent at what they do and I love working with them on my ideas.

Joseph did my dermal and it only cost me $40. every other shop was $60-65. he was very careful with me. he also was just getting done with someone I believe and go to me immediately. I was very patient because I was very nervous, mind you this is a neck peircing so he explained EVERYTHING and even explained to me how to take care of it and what to do. he was very friendly and great. really considering him to do my very first tattoo!!

Got pierced by Sage. She was so kind and accommodating. Id had my navel pierced several times before at other places and somehow they always messed it up. Sage pierced mine perfectly and went through the aftercare instructions very thoroughly and made sure I understood everything. I would absolutely go here and get pierced by her again.

Walked in Sunday to get a tattoo. Theyre were a couple people ahead so my friends and I checked out the festival on NoDa. After lunch my artist was ready, he sketched out what I wanted and I was in the chair within a few minutes. My tattoo is amazing! Such clean lines. Brandon you did a fantastic job, thank you!

I came here to get my second tattoo, the beginning of my half sleeve. I was pretty picky about where I would go because I wanted something new - a watercolor looking tattoo. Its located in NoDa across from a yummy taco place. I was tattooed by Mark, who paid a lot of attention to what I wanted and executed it pretty perfectly. The studio is clean and well lit, not too sketchy, and the prices are great. They dont make it awkward at all, and they give you good conversation, but its difficult to stay still because all you want to do is laugh. Its like theyre working for friends rather than a client. Im definitely going to continue going there for my tattoo and piercings as long as I live in Charlotte. Very happy!

I’ve gone here for ALL my piercings and one tattoo. Had my nipples and VCH first same day. Quick and easy, surprisingly hilarious. Had them removed from a car accident. Just went back yesterday for the same re piercing and it was quick again. It hurt and I questioned my life for a decade, but they’re great!!

My tattoo artists for both of my experiences was Matt. I had never had a tattoo before and with my first experience I feel that once I told him, he took advantage of that. He charged me $300 for a butterfly that was the size of a baseball and didn’t give me what I asked for what so ever, he rebuttaled me on the placement and shaded the entire tattoo, personally I feel that he doesn’t have a lot of experience with POC skin, which he should have forwarned me.. I went back thinking maybe it will be a little better this time and once again was given a distasteful bird that costed $200 and both of the tattoos combined barely cover my upper arm.

The shop is clean and very cool with a lot of different artwork. The people are awesome and very talented. Zach did a great job with lettering and Justin did a great job with the flowers and hummingbird. I will definitely be going back there!

Ive known Mark and Wayne for many years and they are both good guys and great artists! Mark has probably done 90% of the tattoos I have and would recommend him or anyone at his shops to do any type of style you wish. 510 shops are clean, laid back and all around good atmosphere

Was one of the first people to be tattooed in the new South End shop by Dom Flood. Loved the venue, very comfortable and clean but the thing that stood out to me most was the care taken by Dom and the rest of the staff to make sure everything went great and even making changes as we go to make sure I was comfortable and satisfied with their work. 1000/10, would recommend to everyone.

My daughter had her nose pierced she really was happy. They were very nice, and welcoming. Will use this service again, its time for some tattoos lol. Highly recommended 🙌.

I originally came in just to get a few ideas for a sleeve I wanted..after talking to Tom and a few other artists in the area I liked his ideas the most and he took some time to hear me out and set up an appointment. Ive been back for a few sessions and recently started another project - overall I am very happy with my experience here. What a great shop in one of my favorite neighborhoods.

Justin was great with walking me through my first tattoo and listening to me nervously talking through it. It came out great and I would recommend him to friends and family. Ive been getting great compliments on his work.

I went here for my first tattoo. It was just a shoulder tattoo, nothing too big or extravagant. After it healed the lines were super clear. Some of my coloring fell out (probably since its my first tattoo and taking care of it was so new to me) so a few months later I went back and they touched it up for free. Now my tattoo looks awesome and I could not be happier. The price is fair and the guys are great. I had Mark do my tattoo and touch up. I am more than satisfied with how it turned out.

My girlfriend got pierced here and there were some pros and cons.Cons:No privacy curtains or booths.We werent offered any options for wire gage or ring diameter. (Let me clarify that we didnt ask, either, knowing we could change jewelry once the piercings heal.)Pros:Price was less than half of other places we called.Piercer was very professional and personable.Offered rings or bars as options for jewelry.Other employees went outside to offer privacy. (There were no other customers at the time.)Piercings have healed very well and are excellently placed.We were given good instructions for how to care for and heal the piercings with explanations of why.The place has a cool tattoo atmosphere without being skeezy or dirty.

The guy Michael who was piercing my nose was asome and he did a great job it looks amazing if I ever want to get anything else done I would totally go there. They are very clean, quick, and professorial. I went in to get my nose pierced and Dominique did it for me. She was very nice and got it done quickly. I would most definitely recommend going here for a welcoming experience !

I was excited to get my piercings redone and heard some great things about 510 so I go.. Walk in and wasnt even greeted. I waited for one guy to finish talking to another customer. Sat for a good 10 mins and still nothing not even a hey or someone will be with you shortly just nothing! A guy walks in and he is greeted even chatted with them.. Still I waited. So I decided to get up and look through the tattoo book thinking that maybe they didnt see me. I looked through the WHOLE BOOK and then another customer walks in and is greeted and I attempt to but in to let them know I was waiting they talked over me and then my blood was boiling so I just left! Im sorry to say this but I believe this was because of my skin color because the ppl that were acknowledged were of a different color. I wont ever tell anyone to go there! Absolutely disgusting to be in such a beautifully colorful popular area and have that way of thinking! The underground tattoo spot is where everyone is welcomed!!

Bobby Williams is absolutely the best artist. Worth the wait to get an appointment. My third piece is in progress and cant imagine anyone else handling my custom tattoos.

Ive been getting tattooed by Mark and Wayne for 13 years now and you couldnt ask for a better group of guys. They are patient enough to help make your tattoo ideas into reality. Unlike other tattoo shops Ive seen in the past, these guys are true artists are always trying to improve their craft instead of waiting around for the next dollar to walk through the door. If you want a high quality tattoo then this is the place for you!!!

Brought my 7 year old in to get her ears pierced, I highly recommend them, Ben was great! He talked to my daughter and explained exactly what he was going to do, then asked if she was sure she wanted to still pierce them, and while he did it he told her what he was doing each step of the way !

Amazingly friendly and fun staff, clean, fast, and easy. Septum piercing was done correctly and fast, they even let me take a picture as most places dont allow pictures or recordings. Only place doing septums during covid and are clean about it too!

Matt is my main Artist there and his work is always top tier. Been 3 years since I got some ink but he helped fix that today. He slays it every single time and Im never disappointed with his work!

Getting tattooed is a life decision. I have had many experiences, some good and some bad. There are 2 things that you must consider when choosing a shop. First, the quality of artist. Second, the environment of the shop. If there is tension and discord, you will not have a good experience and will associate your tattoo with that. At 510 Expert they have not only the best artist, but the best atmosphere. I have many tattoos, and after searching for a long time, I have finally found the shop that I call home. All the artists are at the top of their game, and the atmosphere of the shop is laid back and friendly. Its the only place I will go.

I flew from California to N.C. to visit my Girlfriend and she decided while in Charlotte that she wanted to get a medical alert logo tattooed on her arm so we went to 501 Expert Tattoo shop. The artist there were very friendly. After I seen the Great job that Evan had done I decided to get inked myself. I was dead set against getting any color on mine because I like black and grey style, but Evan convinced me to add some red to it and wow he was right. I will be going back for more ink!!!!!!!

I had two tattoos done, one by Wayne and one by Mark, and both did an awesome job.The shop is very clean, very professional, and the artist know what theyre doing. Matt did an incredible job designing my tattoo from a conversation idea down to tweeking and custom fitting my half sleeve. Its my first tattoo and I wont go anywhere else because Im very picky and he nailed it like a true professional. If you want the real deal, talk to Matt.

I was very disappointed. My birthday was 3/24. I called on Sunday 3/25 to schedule an appointment to get my Tragus Pierced on BOTH ears (after reading some reviews) and was told that they were opened and took walk-ins. I am not from the area so I made my way to this busy NoDa location with barely no parking, ONLY to get there and they were closed smh... According to the sign on the door, the website, and the person on the phone all stated that they werent to close until 6pm and it was ONLY 430pm when I arrived and I had just called at 330pm. Lets just say I will not be attempting to go back for ANY other services and will be going to Hollywood Ink on S.Tryon going forward.

Took my girlfriend here to get her nipples done and she absolutely loved it! She said the worker was so nice and made her feel comfortable . And they also took her and a friend on a walk in! High key reccomend this place !

Got tattooed by Tom on a multi-session piece. He was hospitable and the staff was friendly. Bathrooms were clean. Also, if youre a foodie there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

My friend got her piercing here and they were really chill! I talked to the guy with grey hair for a bit I think I’m gonna hit him up sometime for a frog tattoo, these are some really nice genuine people!

I came into 510 with two of my friends in June to get my belly button pierced. Sage pierced my belly button 3 different times, one of the three puncture wounds was visible (about a quarter inch to the left of my naval ring once it was in) and still bleeding when I left the shop. During my appointment she seemed nervous, and called my belly button “weird” as if that somehow justified how much she was struggling while piercing me. Fast-forward to three weeks later, after regular saline soaks, chamomile tea bags and other anti-inflammatory remedies- I ended up in the ER in excruciating pain, I had to have the naval ring surgically removed. Once it was out the doctor told me that is was “really poor quality metal” and “should not have been used.” He’s right. They should have used titanium & after calling them they flat out told me that they used stainless steel. To say I’m really disappointed with my experience at 510 with Sage in an understatement. I have endured so much unnecessary pain at the hands of this girl & don’t want anyone else to have to go through this. Save yourself the time, money and agony and take your business to someone who actually knows what they’re doing.

I got my daith pierced due to migraines. Michael did an awesome job. I was nervous but he made it quick and painless. Shop was clean.

Im giving three stars because I ALMOST got a tattoo here. My friend and I gave our ideas to the artist that was available. My friend wanted Allah in Arabic and I wanted a Harry Potter symbol. The artist was printing what he found on the computer to pick from. Because we were walk-ins, we ran out of time describing our ideas and had to reschedule, paying $50 for a deposit. The image that the artist brought back from the printer of Allah did not look familiar, as Ive seen it written in Arabic a few times. I found a fluent speaker online, emailed him a picture of the print-out and he replied via email, that the word was tattoo. Basically, make sure your have your foreign calligraphy worked out BEFORE visiting this place. We dodged a bullet. Still glad we paid $50 for NOT getting the word tattoo tattooed on my friends chest.

My artist, Anthony French, did an awesome job for just a small (Friday the 13th) piece, but after seeing all of his art, I highly recommend him! Im very picky about my artist; I consider him MY artist now. :D
