Empress Tattoo & Piercing

Got a couple of tattoos here done by the wonderful Zac Hill, and needless to say I felt so taken care of and comfortable! He is by far one of the best artists in town and if you have the opportunity to get work done by him, get in there! I had a blast and the work was done quickly but cleanly! Thank you Zac for the wonderful art and the great time spent with you!

Zac has done two of my tattoos and will be returning for more. He makes the atmosphere so chill and does such incredible work. He is light handed and always checking to make sure you are good. He is so easy to talk to. I cannot wait to get more pieces done by him. I highly recommend getting tattoos by Zac.

I got a tattoo I’ve been wanting forever from the very talented Zac! I got my 3 daughters birth flowers and a butterfly representing the baby we lost. Zac did amazing line work and is a super easy going dude! I loved working with him, he’s a great artist and I highly recommend! Thanks for making my experience wonderful Zac, I’ll be back!

Recently visited Kishan after wanting and intending to for over a year and boy was this tattoo experience worth the wait. Not only was he super friendly and kind, but he was also very professional and created an even more beautiful version of the idea I had in mind. He took his time and paid such amazing attention to detail to bring this tattoo idea to life. Not to mention he is GENTLE on your skin. His space was clean, comfortable and decorated perfectly. The real meaning of tattoo artistry and culture has been reborn through this shop. Would give 6 stars if I could and needless to say, I am already planning my next visit to Kishan.

I had an amazing experience getting tattooed by Eunice. After showing her a few pictures of what I wanted, she replicated it perfectly and added so much detail. She is truly talented! Everyone was friendly and the ambiance of the place is top tier and cozy. I’m looking forward to going back for more tattoos in the future.

Kishan is a fantastic artist and has a very unique talent for black artwork and dot shading. He was such a pleasure to spend time with creating my first tattoo experience. I am super happy with how it turned out and beyond ecstatic with the many other upcoming sessions we have planned. Absolutely recommend him!

Got my first-ever piercings done by Via Sinclaire and she did a wonderful job! She walked me through every step of the process, checked in with me multiple times, and kept everything sterile throughout. I highly recommend her. Slay!

Had the pleasure of meeting Kishan for a Friday the 13th flash tattoo. Empress is a beautiful space in a historic home, so full of character! Kishan was kind, welcoming, professional, and efficient without being at all rushed. Even with a hand-sized flash design, he took plenty of time in making sure I was happy with placement before beginning. He is very talented with detailed dot work and gorgeous goth/Victorian designs. Im so SO pleased with my piece and will definitely be returning!

Great experience! Zac found the font that most closely matched my example and worked it yo fit my arms. His attention to detail yielded a great result. The lettering is clear and detailed I am very happy!

Just finished up with Zac. He was a great time as always and incredibly professional. He walked me through everything in a very understandable manner and kept the conversation flowing. His work is incredible and it shows. I would recommend him and everyone at empress if youre looking for a great tattoo.

My 1st visit with Zac was the best tattoo experience Ive ever had. He took a reference I had and put his own spin on it. I love it! Great atmosphere, good music and excellent accommodations. Zac was very light handed and made sure I had the most comfortable experience possible. 5 hours fly by with good conversation and good technique. Crispy lines and very clean work! I am looking forward to many more sessions in the near future! 🙂

I cannot say enough nice things about this place! My friend and I got tattooed by Zac and it was a WONDERFUL experience. He really talked to us and made sure we were 100% comfortable with everything, he really made us feel like we were in a safe space and the tattoos came out even better than expected. Everyone else at the shop was super friendly and personable. The shop itself was super clean and inviting, I will 100% come back to get more!!

I booked with Zac and from the consultation to the tattoo apt, he was super great. He makes sure you are comfortable as well as good with all your designs/sizes, etc. He spends the time making sure the tattoos also flow with your body & I really appreciated this.He absolutely killed these lines.

Eunice and Via are some of the best people. I came to the shop once it was open and Ness has done something like 6 or 7 tattoos on me and its always a blast.Now to piercings:Via could not be more calming and kind, with curations to match the Louvre, the Met, and the MoMA. Shes so positive and makes sure youre comfortable with what will happen. I am a big proponent of letting the piercer work their skills, and once we set the basic pattern let them go, but she still made sure that what her plan was, was the one for me. Always an easy choice to recommend.

Had an appointment with Via, and she was absolutely wonderful! She was so patient, and did such a wonderful job with making sure I was comfortable every step of the way. I will absolutely be recommending her to anyone looking for a new piercing, as well as booking with her again! Thank you Via!

I can’t recommend Empress Tattoo enough! Eunice was so kind and very easy to talk to. She makes you feel very comfortable, almost like hanging out with an old friend. On top of that, she’s an incredibly talented tattoo artist. She has a great attention to detail and a very gentle hand. The studio was clean and inviting. Anyone and everyone should choose Empress tattoo in my opinion. You won’t be disappointed.I got another tattoo today by Zac and he was so kind. His line work is outstanding. Overall such a happy client! Also his paper towels were so soft!

Zac was my artist, and I cant say enough good things about him, and my experience. He has done several tattoos on my wife, and I loved the work, so I got an appointment for myself. So glad that I did. Very nice guy, light handed, and constantly made sure I was good. Couldnt recommend him enough. Absolute pro all the way around. 100% will be returning to add on to what I got today.Update. The second photo is after a couple more sessions. Best artist around. Cant say that enough.

I went in for a vertical labret piercing with Via and she did an excellent job. I was super nervous but she was so sweet and walked me through each step of the process. Would definitely recommend Empress to anyone looking for a piercing.

The service was great, but went in for a piercing and was told the piercing itself was only 80 dollars, once I got there I was told the jewelry starts at 200, I do think that should be advertised as this was an hour drive for me.. also was told my friends anatomy wasn’t right for the piercing we wanted, but we went and got them done elsewhere and the piercer said it was just fine! Again, via is great but I do think these prices should be advertised!

I went to go get my 3rd lobe piercing today and I am so happy with the experience I had. Via was absolutely amazing and so sweet. She gave the best professional advice and I am so excited to see the outcome on the plans we have!

Came here for my very first tattoo with Zac and it was such an amazing experience. Any first time nerves I had coming in were immediately relieved coming into his studio. His design was so much better than I could’ve hoped for and he makes the whole experience comfortable and enjoyable. Also a shoutout to his pufferfish potato.

I’ve been to a good amount of tattoo shops in my time. This was by far the best experience I’ve ever had! Zac is extremely passionate and the attention to detail is unmatched. Crispy lines, very cautious on sanitation and the vibes are amazing. Worth every penny and I didn’t even realize I spent 4 hours there from how smooth the process was!

I’ve had two pieces done so far (w/ Eunice and Jenn) and I’ve been beyond happy with both the experience in the studio and end results.Incredible artists, I 100% will come back for future tattoos!

My friend and I got pierced by Via and it was smooth, sweet, and easy. She was really sweet during the consultation and helping us choose jewelry, she was very passionate about the sanitation and prep processes, and she has a steady and experienced hand when piercing. She provided us with great recommendations and guidelines to care for our piercings and some industry in and outs. 11/10 will be back again.

A 10/10 business all around. I’ve gotten three tattoos by Zac and he’s done an incredible job each time. From consultations to aftercare he’s super thorough and took a ton of time to work and rework designs until I loved them. Super clean fine lines on all three. Zac did my thin line tattoo and I absolutely love it!! The whole experience was amazing and hands down my best tattoo experience!! (I have 3) Zac is awesome! I was super comfortable working with him. I’ve scheduled and gotten 2 tattoos with Zac since I’ve learned of the shop. I make sure to say scheduled because while he is busy, he was very accommodating. Both of my tattoos have turned out great after healing and the customer service from the top to the bottom have been great. Everyone is friendly it’s very clean (lots of sanitization) , paper towels are soft…what more could I ask for. I’ve recommend and will continue to recommend him to any one I know. Also Empress in general. 10/10

I felt comfortable, not judged, informed, and excited upon our first consultation. He was honest with me about the process, excited for me to experience my first tattoo, and was creative with such a simple version I showed him. The day of my tattoo, Zac walked me through the entire process, which I fully appreciated, and gave me the space and time to make sure what I was committing to was exactly what I wanted. I love Empress! I started coming here this summer and couldn’t stop coming back. I got 4 piercings in total from Via. She did such an amazing job and was so helpful when picking out the jewelry. I got my first tattoo from Zac and then one from Kishan. They were both really great and made my first tattoo experiences very easy. The tattoos also came out amazing and exactly what I asked for!

I had the absolute best experience at Empress Tattoo! I got my first tattoo here last week! I was really nervous about getting a tattoo especially after a different tattoo shop in Chattanooga had me walk out of an appointment after feeling judged. I found Empress Tattoo based off of a friends suggestion and instantly felt at peace! Zac Hill was charismatic and made me feel comfortable. He walked me through the whole process and consistently checked in to make sure I was good and understanding. My minimalist tattoo looks extremely clean & the paper towels he used at the end were the softest I’ve ever felt. Already planning my next tattoo I want from Zac! Highly recommend for a first time experience or anyone who just wants to feel comfortable and laugh throughout their appointment!

Got my second tattoo from Zac…tattoo turned out amazing, and I will be back to finish the tattoo. Super happy with it!I noticed that this time he used higher quality paper towels than last time. I think they were Bounty. They were more cushy and felt nicer. It really tells you that he cares about his clients that he would think about such a small detail like the paper towels! My experience at Empress was nothing slight of perfect. Zac is not only a great tattoo artist, he is a great person as well. The placement of my tattoo was intimate and he made sure I was comfortable with everything. He explained the whole process, arm placements, etc. in advance and made sure I was okay throughout the entire tattoo. He is so easy to talk to and made my experience super enjoyable. His paper towels are also super soft which is not something you find lol. The building itself is so clean and so pretty from the outside in. I couldnt be any happier with my artist and my tattoo! I got my first tattoo done recently by Zac and it was such a positive experience. Going in to the consultation I was nervous because all I knew was I wanted my dogs named who had passed away. He was able to help me find a font that was so perfect I got a little teary eyed seeing her name spelled out. While filling out paperwork the day of I noticed and highly appreciated the studio is considerate of individuals with sensory issues. Before he started he made sure noise was at a tolerable level for me which allowed me to really relax while getting tattooed. I couldn’t be happier really. It’s so beautiful and perfect to me, just like my pup was. Im proud to have this on my body. I don’t know why I waited so long to get one but I’m kinda glad I did. The studio is so gorgeous as well. Just a very comforting environment.

Go ahead and book the appointment. This shop is not only beautiful, but genuinely has some of the nicest workers. Zac Hill absolutely killed it. My last tattoo experience at another shop was not great so i was hesitant for years about getting another, but this totally restored my faith in good artists ! Words can not describe how amazing this place is! Before going in I went to Chattanooga tattoo and got the weirdest vibes and acted like it was a pain to pierce my ears. I Ended up stumbling across this place and soo glad I did! They were able to fit me in same day, and was so easy to make an appointment! The place is super clean and so comforting and welcoming compared to most tattoo places. I was greeted by Via ( sorry if spelling is not right )and got the best experience with piercing my ears she talked me through every part of the way and made it such a great experience! She was so informative and helpful picking out jewelry and they had a great selection and super affordable! If I could give more stars I would, definitely going back! 💛

I recently got a tattoo from an artist here by the name of Zac and I was absolutely blown away by his attention to detail when it came to his bedside manner. He was so considerate and transparent about the whole process, it really put me at ease. Id recommend him to ANYBODY looking for a tattoo!

Via was amazing to work with! I came in to have her look at a misplaced and painful piercing from an artist at another shop that I had just gotten. The other artist refused to take my concerns seriously or help me after she did the work, dismissing me and telling me to come back in 3-4 months. But Via stepped up! She not only patiently listened to me and validated my concerns, but she quickly removed the piece while educating me on why it was placed wrong and causing me issues. After the removal, she took the time to make sure everything was safe and that I was feeling well, and even educated me on aftercare to make sure it healed! Overall, she is amazing at what she does and a saint for helping!

This place is great. I’ve had several tattoos done here, any artist at the shop will not disappoint. I do have to give a shout out to Zac. Not only is he an amazing tattoo artist but he’s a great guy that will make sure you’re comfortable throughout the session. We’re currently working on an anime sleeve (Zac is hands down the best anime tattoo artist in the area with the best paper towels) and after our most recent session I found out that I had a flat tire. We were the last two to leave the shop and Zac waited with me until help arrived. I can’t recommend this place enough. Great people and great vibes.

I got tattooed by Zac Hill, who is new to the shop, and he was awesome. It was my first tattoo and he was super informative about how to care for my tattoo, and respectful if I needed a break while he was working on it. He nailed exactly what I wanted, and was great to talk to, so I would highly recommend him. The rest of the staff at Empress were also very kind, so I’ll be going back if I get another one.

Just wanted to get on here and let people know Zac is awesome and is always super professional and respectful towards everyone, especially women. Someone tried leaving him a false bad review and I just want it to be known that their complaint is false. This is a good person and a wonderful artist. High recommend

If you’re looking to get your first tattoo or even your 100th, I could not recommend empress tattoo enough! I received my first tattoo on Friday feb 17 with Zac Hill and he was absolutely amazing! Very personal and very friendly. He did a fantastic job of walking me through the steps and making me feel comfortable getting my first tattoo. I had a say in everything that he did and the tattoo turned out absolutely beautiful. The processes was easy and all the staff was very friendly. Seriously could not recommend this shop more and could not recommend Zac more to first timers. 10/10

I absolutely love my piercings from here! I recently got my conch and forward helix pierced here and the whole process was amazing! Making the appointment online was really simple and I felt really comfortable during the piercing process. Picking the jewelry and discussing price and quality is all included in the appointment so it made me feel less rushed to choose and really get to talk to the piercer about what was best for me. 10/10 recommend

Im from GA and me and my gf were taking a small weekend trip to Chattanooga. Amongst all the activities we wanted to do getting piercings was one of them. We by chance stumbled upon this shop and it was immediate yes! To be a female owned shop was the dopest part! When we got there I had Via and she was the sweetest person ever! Hands down the best piercer Ive ever worked with. The shop is beautiful and the ambiance is a vibe 👏🏾. I enjoyed being there so much that I wouldnt mind making the trip back up to get more work done! Had a great experience with the owner for my first appointment. I got some small pieces to make sure she was a good fit before getting a larger piece. It was at the beginning of opening her shop, she was the only artist at this time and I loved her vision and was happy to support. Second appointment, her printer was out so I did have to draw out one of them in my own hand writing and I wish I would have just waited as it turned out nothing like we had talked about. I also got two larger pieces during this appointment. One was a snake on the top of my arm that I see everyday which she added scales to without asking and I absolutely wish they were not there, as we had only talked about adding shading. And the second was a large bird and she shaded OUTSIDE OF THE LINES! This studio is much cheaper than the one I am going to now but I will gladly pay extra for my artist to stay within the lines.

I had a sternum tattoo done by Zac and he was AMAZING! He made me feel super comfortable and was extremely respectful. And his line work is FIRE!

I traveled from Atlanta to have my first tattoo done by Zac Hill, after searching for quite some time for the right artist and studio. He nailed the design and made the entire experience so comfortable and fun. Zac is very talented with his line work and has such an amazing portfolio AND personality. Go see him (especially if this is your first tatt!!)

Response: Absolutely inadequate summarisation of the situation. I definitely did not cancel (hilarious you would say I did). I woke up sick (likely Covid) and called the store upon opening(with no answer) and so I texted, explaining I’ve woken up terribly sick and would hate to infect anyone - “can I please reschedule? (NOT A CANCELLATION HONEY) “Mind you, my original apt was rescheduled because the piercer was sick 💀 So, you all won’t show the same grace when a customer is sick. That’s completely hypocritical. It’s not like I can ask my boss to modify my schedule after asking off for this. But because you all only open at noon and that was the soonest I could reach you, you decide to charge me a cancellation fee which is absurd because I was only asking for a reschedule due to being sick. Mind you, the fee is five dollars short of the piercing. I’ve always tipped very graciously, even when only coming in for a change in jewellery. On top of that, the entire cumulative of my experience here has been subpar to say the least. I really get a kick out of you trying to literally lie on all the details. This place is literally just scummy and you should probably do an internal review as to why your critical thinking is so low level. I’m sure my review won’t affect your service, but people who are seeking a new artist should know how much this place completely sucks.The most dissatisfied I’ve ever been with any piercing/tattoo shop. I’ve been going to this place since it’s opening and I’ve always had a super unprofessional experience. They also charge high above what they should. I supported Eunice before she even started this shop but since then, the entire dynamic has changed and there’s much better piercers and artists in the Chattanooga area.

I very recently got my first tattoos here by Zac Hill and it was awesome! He perfectly made the smidgen of a tweak to the design that I really wanted and was such good company throughout the whole thing I practically forgot he was tattooing me for the last half of our appointment! Super chill and made sure I knew exactly what was going on and how to take care of it afterwards. Definitely recommend for first timers like me 😂

Via was AMAZING! She took extra time to answer all my questions about my lip piercing plus time to answer concerns/questions I had about my nose piercing. I was recommended Empress from a friend and it was definitely worth it. I’ll definitely be back and Via is someone I’ll recommend personally.

I have gotten both tattoos and piercings from Empress, and I’ve always had a wonderful experience here. The staff is very welcoming and kind, and really strive to make it a safe space. The piercers are also extremely communicative and understanding. I couldn’t be happier with the work I’ve gotten done here. I highly recommend Empress for tattoos and piercings!

Got my knee tattooed today by Zac and it was the best tattoo experience I’ve had. That’s such a sensitive area and he had me in tears from laughter. He’s such a chill dude with immaculate vibes. 10/10 recommend going to Empress. They’re all great people

I had the pleasure of Zac doing my first ever tattoo. From the consultation to the after care, he was thorough, attentive, calming and hilarious (which was much needed for my nerves). His design was exactly what I wanted and I could not be happier with the final result. When we were first getting started I was very nervous but he walked me through every step and answered every single one of my questions even if they were ridiculous. Even when my arm got a little bit of razor burn when he shaved the area (this is 100% due to my super sensitive skin and nothing the artist did wrong) he was patient and waited until it cleared up in order to move forward with the tattoo. I can’t wait for it to heal so I can show it off!! Excited to come back for more. The photos were taken by the artist on site at Empress after he was done, another great part of the experience!

I came to the shop with my old man for his tattoo and WOW is all I can say. Zacs line work is amazing!! And my husband said the paper towels are VERY soft.

Zac has done 3 pieces for me. Fine line flowers. He does incredible work and is so easy to work with. He makes sure that you are comfortable and at ease during the whole session. He has by far exceeded my expectations.

I absolutely love this studio! Jen has been my go to artist in Florida and now Chattanooga as well and always does a fantastic job with any projects I want done! This time we did firework tattoos to cover up scars from last years wrong place wrong time accident and a cute brain flower combo I’ve been wanting for a long time. Empress is a beautiful place with a sweet atmosphere and everyone is so kind. I love the vibe of the studio and the comfort it provides with awesome personal touches and attention to detail! If I’m in the area again I will definitely be back!

I had the privilege of having Zac do a tattoo on my arm that Ive been thinking on for years. Not only did he perfect the sketch I gave he made it more personal and executed it very well. I already knows hes going to be my go to for more art.

Wow just wow! I really can never stop recommending Empress to all of my friends and family members for all of their tattoo and piercing needs. The entire staff is so cool and chill and they really just wanna give you the best possible environment. My roommates and I came and got piercings, and it was such a great experience! Eunice was our piercer, and we seriously could not have asked for better. She was very patient with us picking out our jewelry. I personally have a huge fear of needles, but the second we spoke to her, I felt immediate relief. I’ll be back for sure!!

Via did an INCREDIBLE job during my visit! I came in to get my nose pierced, and I felt so welcome as soon as I walked in. I never felt like I was being rushed or a burden like I have at other places. I’ve gotten two traditional tattoos from Eunice now, both on one arm. One was a simple playing card design. The other was a flying bird. She’s been professional in every way. Her little shop is cozy and clean. I am already planning on going back to see her for some filler work on the same arm.

There is a person leaving multiple negative reviews due to a personal grievance (he’s not aloud to be tattooed there) so please keep that in mind.

Literally the smoothest piercing of my life! I got my lobes double pierced and my tragus.I have used Ness for a tattoo before and her services are a 100/100! She is thoughtful, soothing, detail oriented, and fun to be around. Ness will help you plan, works with your timing and is very considerate.If you are on the fence about a piercing or tattoo she is the first experience and every one after you want to have!

I had a really good experience with Ness and she was really sweet and professional but I believe I paid too much for my 3 piercings @$250. It was too expensive according to what my friends are saying I could’ve paid for the same service elsewhere.

Eunice has done all my work and she is very professional. She is very knowledgeable about her technique and walks you through everything. She is also super nice and always makes each session enjoyable.

Coleson is extremely talented at his craft and I appreciated how collaborative the tattoo process was. He worked with me to decide on placements and tweaked the designs to ensure that I walked away with tattoos I love.The studio is also extremely clean and welcoming. The plant shop adds such good vibes.
