I was so impressed with my experience at Clarity, I was already planning my next visit. All staff were knowledgeable and professional. Shea was an amazing piercer. I had four piercings done at once and Shea communicated clearly throughout the whole process, putting any nerves at ease. The facility was bright, clean and open. I had truly no concerns about safety or sterility at any point. I cannot wait to return!

Shea has cultivated an extremely professional and welcoming space, as well as being very cleanly/minimally designed and decorated. Ive been to a good handful of piercing and/or tattoo establishments and while I generally have found them to be friendly places, Clarity is really on a next level. If you have nervousness about getting pierced or you feel intimidated by the typical body modification atmosphere, I can say with 100% confidence that you will feel comfortable here.And of course its not just about the atmosphere; as a piercer Shea is clearly extremely knowledgeable and careful/thorough with his work. I would trust him to properly place and execute any piercing, and while I only have one from him so far Im looking forward to getting lots more! I havent personally interacted with any of the other piercers on staff so I cannot speak to them, but I have to assume they have the same level of attention to detail and care and are similarly pleasant to work with. If I could give 6/5 stars I would.

This place is so nice and clean. The staff are extremely professional and kind! They were so patient with me as I rattled off questions, lol. They were actually able to fit me in with literally 10 minutes of notice, shortly before close after a cancellation. It was for my birthday and I was referred on a second opinion. Shea debriefed me on all the risks, modifications with my anatomy, placement, aftercare and the type of piercing/jewelry I was receiving. I got a lovely navel piercing with opal stones. Highly recommend!

I went to Clarity Piercing to get my inner conch pierced last week, and my visit was a 10/10! Shay was extremely professional and kind, and he greeted me by my name when I walked into the door, and my piercer, Carlos, was there to greet me as well. They have a vast selection of jewelry that were all within reasonable price points for the quality and style. The piercing room was well lit and impressively sterile, and Carlos really took the time to explain the aftercare instructions to me, and he patiently answered when I had questions. The piercing itself was a breeze, and Carlos talked me through every step he was taking. I had such an amazing experience, and I definitely plan on going here for the remainder of my piercings!

Had the nicest experience getting a piercing today at Clarity Piercing. I was greeted the second I walked in, and loved the clean, calm, and modern aesthetic of the studio. Shea truly cares about the artistry of his craft and took plenty of time to make me feel educated and comfortable. The selection of jewelry is top-notch, with plenty of options in gold/rose gold/white gold and at lots of price points. I was also able to get a special order for something specific I wanted. I was never rushed, and Shea took the time to expertly place my piercing so it would be perfect. The studio is pristine and asepsis immaculate. I’ve had great experiences at Clarity up until today. My visit today took my appreciation of Clarity to the next level. 😁I had been in a few times for help changing jewelry and for a consult - and was impressed with the space and professionalism I encountered at those visits. Im truly someone who never writes reviews but I HAD to write one for Shea!I had gotten a tragus piercing done at another place and was having issues with the jewlery constantly falling out. Unfortunately this was also causing a healing issue and a LOTT of swelling, so a friend recommended that I go to Shea.He was so kind and genuine! Even though I got the piercing done elsewhere he went above and beyond to make sure I was well taken care of. I honestly wont go anywhere else from now on! Do not hesitate to go to clarity- they are amazing and youre in the best hands!

I am so glad I found this place! Kind professionals, sterile practices, and beautiful high quality jewelry at a fair price. I will most definitely be returning!My nose piercing bent so I couldn’t take it off and I had an MRI scheduled the next day. Luckily, they were able to squeeze me in between appointments to change it out. Shea quickly and painlessly replaced my stuck stud with a glass retainer. Plus, they straightened out that bend for me. Aaron was my piercer and they did a great job. They took their time and took me every step of the way. I had both my earlobes done and they are the small green studs. Everything was clean and staff were welcoming and helpful!

Shea is the best piercer I’ve worked with in the RDU area. I’ve always trusted him as he follows all the APP protocols and pays attention to detail. He does a great job keeping a beautiful selection of jewelry in stock, with a variety of price points available, but my favorite are the high quality gold pieces. You will be well taken care of here!Shea has done six of my piercings: the conch, faux rook, second lobe and two helixes in the attached pictures, as well as a second lobe on my other ear. He helped me curate my ear based on anatomy and jewelry preferences, and even worked with me for several months to order pieces from BVLA for my look. It was always great coming into the studio knowing that he and I were on the same page. I cannot recommend Shea enough!

Ive gotten three piercings from Shea over the years (while he worked at other studios). When we decided it was time for my daughter to get her ears pierced, I knew I wanted to go to Shea specifically. We live out of the way from Durham, but it was worth the drive. He puts a lot of care into sanitation and comfort. He makes the whole experience stress free. I especially loved how he spoke to my daughter, and showed a lot of respect for her and her big moment. He explained everything to her as it was happening, and gave her plenty of opportunities to ask questions.When we left, my daughter told us multiple times that she had so much fun and loved getting her ears pierced. Right before a big international trip, my earring back fell down the drain. I had gotten the piercing elsewhere but Shea fit me in on short notice and helped me out. Recommended to me by a more local piercer because of his specialty related to the piercing I wanted. Incredible experience, especially for my first piercing. Even with a small complication, Shae was more than capable to make corrections. The store is bright, modern, and very clean. His care for providing a sterile a procedure gave me even more confidence in his professional skills. He answered all of my questions honestly, and made sure I was comfortable and prepared. If I ever wanted another piercing, I would absolutely make the drive back.

I got my septum piercing with Shea back in October and just went back to get a nostril piercing from a guest piercer (I can’t remember their name unfortunately) and both experiences were amazing. They were both incredibly nice, more than willing to answer questions and obviously very informed/experienced. I had never gotten a facial piercing before and I was very nervous after a bad conch piercing experience a few years ago. Both times I was put at ease as soon as I walked in, shea helped me pick out jewelry both times and he was super patient as I looked through everything. Both times I got pierced, they used strips that you initial that confirm the sterilization process is completed on your jewelry. I cannot recommend them enough, incredible clean and comfortable experience - I’ll be back for more piercings for sure!

Amazing experience at Clarity Piercing! Ive gotten many piercings over the years and this was by far the best. Shea is so thoughtful and informative, and I think hed be great for someones first piercing or who is nervous about the whole thing. I got my nose pierced for the second time after the first one healed improperly following a poor experience, and it couldnt have been better. I also followed up with Shea on Instagram weeks later with a question about saline spray and he answered really quickly. The jewelry selection was excellent as well. I highly recommend coming here!

Second round of piercing received by Shea a few weeks ago - to date he has done tragus and double helix piercings for me, and reopened a closed ear lobe piercing. He is friendly and professional, and explains everything thoroughly throughout the process. His sterile technique is excellent, I am a surgery nurse so I’m watching! Everyone I have sent to him has reported having a good experience as well. His shop is beautiful and in a great downtown location. Will be going to him again.

Awesome experience last night at Clarity Piercing! I wanted a second hold in my earlobe and it was important to me to support a local business. Appointments do book in advance, but I was able to get a Monday evening a few weeks in advance and I appreciated that it wasn’t a rushed session. Robbie did a great job with the piercing, making sure I was okay with everything beforehand and throughly cleaning the area. It barely even hurt. Shea, the owner was working out front and helped me pick earring studs I liked in my price range. I’m moving out of the area soon and luckily he’s familiar with the next place I’m going so he gave me the names of some studios to check on my piercings in a few months. Highly recommend this studio if you’re looking for a piercing!

Ive seen Shea a few other times before he opened up his own place, and its always been a great experience! He is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I always value his opinion when Im stuck between a few pieces, which is important for me as an indecisive person! Also very patient and will hold up pieces to your ear that youre considering so you can get an idea of what itll look like. Ive been to places where they didnt do that, so Id just have to eyeball it and hope it would work. Sometimes the piece would be a little smaller than Id want, but Im always confident with sizing when I work with Shea.

To anyone looking to get a first, second, or 19th piercing, this is where you need to do it. Shea is very kind and inviting, and he clearly has both a breadth of knowledge and a strong passion for his craft. He explained each step of the process well and offered many opportunities for questions, and as someone with a bit of a needle phobia and an iffy pain tolerance, he was SO patient and helped me feel as comfortable as possible. The studio was also very clean and sanitary, and both water and fruit snacks were available. I really can’t say enough good things! Will definitely be back for any and all future piercing needs without question.

Shea is the most professional and gentle piercer Ive come across. He has now pierced my daughters 1st and 2nd earlobes and each visit is better than the last. His shop is clean and gorgeous. I plan on getting my rooks and tragus opened back up next month. I would never think of going anywhere else!

I highly recommend Shae at Clarity Piercing. He is professional, considerate, experienced, thorough… I could keep going on! I had a great experience in his studio, which is immaculately clean and located in a great spot. He provides so much education about what to expect in the healing process, and pays attention to every little detail down to the type of jewelry and completing the sterilization process in front of your eyes. The most impressive thing that resonated with me was his motto, “My job isn’t done until your piercing is healed.” I’m definitely looking forward to going back!

My bf and I got piercings from Shea previously. I got two lobe and my bf one lobe. Shea was very professional, made sure we knew everything about taking care of our piercings afterward. He made sure we were okay before and after the piercing. And of course everything was clean and sanitized. Highly recommend if you need a piercing in Durham.

Beautiful, bright, impeccably clean piercing studio with an excellent jewelry selection. Shea has done several of my piercings and they always hurt less than the piercings I got at other shops. Im not sure how he does it but its magic! If you want a piercing but are nervous about the pain, this is where you should go, hands down.

I had been wanting to get my septum pierced for a very long time, but had been very hesitant. I asked on Facebook who I should go see. A friend posted Clarity Piercing with Shea. Boy I am glad she recommended him. I have a lot piecings which I have mostly gotten at tattoo parlors. This experience was so different and better. There was no cheesy artwork on the walls. No tattoo guns buzzing. This place feels fresh. The jewelry selection was stellar. Sheas attention to detail, and the cleanliness, with the procedure of prepping for the piercing the sterilization of the needles. Everything he made me feel so at ease. I would highly HIGHLY recommend coming here if you are looking to get something pierced.

I went this weekend while on vacation for a quick jewelry change and had a great experience. Shea was extremely polite and professional from the minute he answered my phone call till I left the shop. I went there after being referred by another shop, I made an appointment to get pierced about 2 months ago. I was contacted by Shea to see if it was ok to modify my appointment about two weeks before my scheduled appointment. We discussed it a bit and I agreed to modify my appointment, scheduled for the same day and same time but with another piercer.The day of my appointment came and it was an evening appointment. It was not overly difficult to find a place to park. I did park in a nearby public parking deck there was a fee associated with parking there. That is not something that Clarity Piercing can control. Since I have to park and walk I was just a few minutes late for my appointment. Shea & Robbi were both understanding and still honored my appointment.The shop was very clean and clinical. After a trip to the bathroom it was confirmed that this shop is serious about keeping the place clean and safe to get a piercing. This was confirmed when they made sure to have me initial a tag that was placed in the autoclave with my jewelry to prove my jewelry was sterile and any other tools needed to complete my piercing were sterile.I filled out my release forms online while my jewelry and the tools were being sterilized. Once sterilization was finished Robbi took me into a private area and we discussed the procedure and the required aftercare.Robbi was very patient with me thru the entire process. He told me when he was going to touch me and what to expect as he was piercing me. No problems with having my partner in crime in the private area with me while the piercing was going on.I would highly recommend Shea or Robbi (who was there that night as a guest piercer) at Clarity Piercing should you be looking to get anything from ear piercing to a more private piercing done.It was a comfortable atmosphere and a clean environment with a very supportive staff.

Appointments seems to be fully booked often, but I contacted them for an urgent visit, and they obliged. I visited for a consultation/jewelry removal. Staff is patient, understanding and non-judgmental. The studio looks pristine as a museum. I felt comfortable here and enjoyed my visit. It’s a little far from home (almost 3 hours), but I may make this place my go-to. I look forward to my next visit and excited to get my future piercings here!

Shea re-pierced an earlobe that had closed up and did my septum piercing a few years ago. He was lovely and his work was fantastic. 10/10 experience. Im so glad he has his own shop now so I can resume referring people to him!

If you are wanting Claire’s, then go there and I wish you the best, but here, you are going to pay for a piercer who knows what he’s talking about and jewelry that is good, high quality stuff. I can’t recommend this shop highly enough, Shea has done three new piercings for me and helped save one performed by another piercer that wasn’t healing well. Great jewelry selection, great consent practices, totally comfortable for me as a visibly queer person. Go see him!

Went in to have an eyebrow piercing put back in. Shea was super friendly, accommodating, quick and efficient. The shop was incredibly clean and very nice. Would absolutely go back and recommend to anyone.

I worked next to Shea for 2 1/2 years before I moved away. Shea is an amazing person and honestly might be one of the best piercers on the east coast. Youd be doing yourself a disservice by not trusting him.

Had my eyebrow jewelry pop out. The piercing was done out of town but they were still able to take 5 mins between clients to help me get it back in. Only costed me $5 for the single use tool. Great service and beautiful and clean space and reasonable prices. Will definitely be looking into getting some work done here!!
