I went into the shop a couple weeks ago for the shop’s Saturday walk-in special, and it was by far one of the most enjoyable tattoo experiences I’ve had by far! The shop itself has an impeccable atmosphere, with the walls being covered in flash for you to choose from, and custom art hanging everywhere. My Artist was David, I could not recommend him enough to anyone! He did a fantastic job on my tattoos and was very kind and informative throughout the whole process! It was a pleasure to have met him and to have gotten work done by him, and I will definitely be coming back for future work. If you are in the Durham area and looking to get tattooed, Welcome tattoo is the best choice!

Worked with Abby to get a beautiful tattoo of a tea plant! The design turned out wonderfully and she’s a very talented and kind artist. The entire experience was very comfortable and she was happy to communicate about everything regarding the design and the process.

I cannot speak more highly of Welcome Tattoos. This was my first tattoo in this area, and I was unsure where to begin a relationship. The entire staff, all of the artists, and even the other patrons were amazing, friendly, and helpful. It was easily the most relaxed and “welcoming” tattoo experience I’ve ever had.

I had an amazing experience here. All of the staff and artists were so kind and honest. I came with an idea of a design but David worked with me and was honest about placement and shading vs color. Definitely going to get my other tattoos here.

I’ve had two tattoos done here so far and a third that’s booked, and I feel like I’ve certainly found my shop in the triangle. In addition to employing some of the best tattooers I’ve ever had the chance to be tattooed by, the shop is immaculately clean and welcoming, their front of the house is efficient and kind, and they really make you feel as at home as possible given you’re getting stabbed by small needles thousands of times.There’s a reason everybody talks about them. My husband and I have both visited Welcome Tattoo for multiple tattoos. The studio is really bright and clean. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. Abby has done all of our tattoos at this location. She is creative, precise, and does amazing work. We’ll continue to visit Welcome for future tattoos! They have a great team!

Super friendly staff. Jacob was my artist. He was able to craft up a dainty script for my kids names and I couldn’t be happier! He was thorough and professional. 100% would recommend this tattoo shop.

Morgan and Jacob were extremely accommodating with scheduling an actual appointment on Saturday (when they do walk-ins) with me traveling in over the weekend from Chicago. Jacob did a sweet banger on my right arm. I love it!! I will definitely come back next time I’m in town!!!

Welcome Tattoo has an amazing shop and even better artists. I like how down to earth and welcoming the staff are. You can tell they enjoy their work. I am getting sleeve work done by David Victor there and he is as good as they come. Checks on you during the session and even the other artists popped over to say what’s up when they were chilling. It was great. Jacob was very open to my ideas. I’ve been ridiculed by artists before and it’s always a worry but he was basically like, yeah, let’s do this. I leaned on his compositional expertise to iron out the final design. I was in and out in I think less than 2 hours with a word/color piece and a small solid black one which turned out super solid. All in all a pleasant experience.One thing I’d suggest is boob friendly pillows haha. I don’t know if they exist but that was the most uncomfortable part. I have shoulder pain (sports ball)/big boobs and lying on my stomach isn’t my most comfortable posish. Of course 1000% not the fault the shop!I’m definitely coming back for more work.

I had an amazing experience at Welcome Tattoo! The front desk (sorry, I never got your name!) was great at communicating with me from the time I initially inquired about scheduling until after my appointment when I had a question about the aftercare. Both she and my artist Abby were super sweet and friendly!Abby was attentive and listened to exactly what I wanted and executed flawlessly. I love my new tattoo and now Welcome Tattoo has a returning customer in me! I even recommended them later that day to someone who was looking for a local artist. I LOVE THE WORK I HAVE GOTTEN DONE HERE! First off, Abby is epic. I am so glad this shop has a kick as fem tattoo artist, it was needed! She was clear about asking what I wanted, changing up sizes and postioning, etc. Both tattoos I have from Abby (different times) are healing so well. Second, walk in Saturdays are perfect, and I have had the best experience here with them. I will DEFINITELY be getting more work done by Abby and others in the shop!! Third the shop has such good vibes. Everyone is kind and easy going, the person who is typically working the desk is so funny and very cool. I couldn’t recommend a better shop!!

Great experience from start to finish. I got my tattoo done at a walk-in Saturday. The process was well-organized and efficient. Jacobs rendering of what I requested is even better than I could have hoped. Every time I catch a glimpse of my new tattoo on my arm it makes me happy. I definitely recommend the shop and Jacob.

Kohen and Welcome Tattoo helped me rediscover my enthusiasm for being tattooed. As a pretty heavily tattooed person, I found myself losing interest over the years.After moving to Durham, my wife got an amazing full Japanese sleeve from Kohen. I naturally become quite jealous and decided enough time had lapsed that I should get tattooed myself.My experience was so great, I ended up going back for another just a few weeks later. Welcome Tattoo has really solid artists without any of the old school tough guy attitude or pretentiousness you can find in some shops.The shop is super clean, everyone is incredibly kind and professional, and both of my recent visits have proven to be some of my all around favorite tattoo experiences.I’ll be back once I forget how much my last one hurt.

Abby was fabulous. She took a design I wanted and adapted it for a better tattoo. She worked with me on placement and was attentive while creating the Kiri tattoo. I love it!!!

I love this place! The staff and all the artists are both incredibly helpful and friendly. I got my first tattoos here and Im glad I did! Nice, bright, and clean space. I have dark skin which Ive learned from reading online is a challenge for many tattoo artists, being unfamilliar with tattooing people of colour; but all of mine so far have turned out great. Big shoutout in particular to David Victor!

I contemplated the design of the tattoo for almost 4 years. I knew that I wanted an infinity circle tattoo with my granddaughter’s names in the circle. After finally deciding to get it done, I went in early on a Saturday morning no-appointment needed sign up (I suggest you get there before nine!) When I discussed the tattoo with my artist, Matt, he returned with exactly what I had envisioned and I love the way he incorporated their names into the circle! Excellent experience and totally pleased with my tattoo. It looks amazing!

Jacob did an incredible job with my snake tattoo. I love it so much and am so impressed with the line work and shading effects he was able to accomplish. Definitely going back for future tats. All the staff are great too and super friendly!

Everyone was great! My tattoo is a black and white simple so they suggested I do a Saturday walk in. I put my name on the list at 10:15 and was called in for 2:30. I requested Aby and she was fantastic! Her stencil was perfect based on my inspo texts. I highly recommend Welcome and Aby!

I got a snake tattoo on my inner bicep at Welcome Tattoo, and it was an awesome experience. Abby, my tattoo artist, was so sweet and friendly that she instantly eased my nerves. Had a terrific experience here! Eric Ayala is a superb artist and a surgeon with the needle. Work was impeccable and surpassed all my expectations. Great friendly and welcoming environment here; everyone is professional but familial. Location is extremely clean and an awesome museum of very talented artists. I cannot recommend Welcome Tattoo highly enough as well as the terrific work of Eric Ayala.

Jacob was very professional and easy to work with. My friend and I got matching birth flower tattoos during the Saturday walk in hours, and the whole process was straight forward and had good communication each step of the way.

Honestly. They are so super sweet and place is cleab, but over charged me for a tattoo, that doesnt even look good. Some lines are shaky + already fading. But thats what i get for getting a tattoo on vacation instead of my original artist back home.

I had such a wonderful time going for my first walk-in tattoo at Welcome this past Saturday. The process was extremely well co-ordinated, they found an INCREDIBLE design for me based on my reference, and the staff was all extremely welcoming and kind. I will absolutely be back here for more tattoos.

This place is run by full on vindictive people. I posted a review already but they got it removed (do you question why they have 800+ reviews at only 5 stars??? - almost impossible without manipulation).They ripped me off on a flash tattoo on their Saturday gimmick, of which I brought and pre-sized the art. I was on the table for 15 min and they charged me $275... but she wouldnt tell me a cost estimate prior to the end. So, I pushed back on their costing when I felt ripped off (I was imo). The owners wife / secretary (Morgan) did not like that I stuck up for myself and slandered me all over Durham for about two years.Fast forward two years after the tattoo and she takes a video of me walking past her shop with my middle finger up (no direction toward her) and sent it all over town to get me banned from places. Minutes after her video surveillance effort, Im having beer next door at Lou Ella and the owner husband bro (Coen) and his henchmen approached me in the wine bar and tried to fight me over something that was contrived and clearly a vendetta over me calling them out over ripping me off. I was also banned from Accordion Club and other establishments because of her conspiracy theory about me. High school drama to the max!They offered to refund all my money the day of tattoo but I declined; in good faith and respect I paid the artist appropriate cost (have proof) - but they dont tell that part of the story. They would rather vilify and destroy someone that sticks up for themselves.These people are mean and out for anyone that doesnt bow down to their southern deferential expectations.Please dont go there, there are way better tattoo artists in Durham. Kings Ave treated me well and I have a full sleeve from them.Jason S.

Jacob did a great job letting me know what to expect and figuring out how to place the tattoo how I wanted it. The space was clean and inviting and the vibes are immaculate. Saturday walk-ins are awesome. Allowed me to get a fantastic tattoo in less than 2 hours on a weekend while visiting family.Kohen is an amazing artist and seemed like everyone else there was as well. Would make the 4 hour drive here from home to get another one.

I had Jacob help me with some old English (gothic) lettering for a vertical tricep tattoo. He did an excellent job. Exactly what I was looking for. He does good fine-line work which was important for the kind of text I chose. Very happy with the results.

The folks at Welcome Tattoo were amazing and super welcoming and professional! I called when they first opened to get a walk in tattoo done as a spur of the moment thing.The receptionist was really nice and helped me out a lot in making sure they got the reference photos I sent via text.Their apprentice, Noah was super awesome and a great person to talk to. As some whose name is also Noah, I know that Noah has got a bright future in the tattoo industry. He was able to completely capture the vision of what I wanted done for my tattoo, and for it being the first time tattooing a stomach he did great. The line work is super clean and the shading and color is saturated very nicely.

I absolutely loved the welcoming atmosphere of Welecome Tattoo. Starting from the initial inquiry to finally getting my amazing tattoo it went smoothly. The owners wife is the first person that greets you and she is friendly and puts you at ease. Jacob did my tattoo and he did an amazing job. I gave him multiple pictures for reference and he turned them into an amazing finished product.

Me and my friend went on Walk-in Saturday to get our second tattoos and it was an amazing experience. We were closer to the end of the line but they’re quick and we were both finished by 3. The two receptionists are super friendly and Kohan is an amazing artist and super personable! Will definitely be coming back in the future!

Couldn’t be happier with the outcome. I took a shot on this place because I liked the pics I saw online on a couple of artists. I was looking for deep saturated blacks/colors and ability to pull straight lines. I got Jacob and was very very very pleased. I tipped great too!

At Welcome, tattoo artists are so professional and GOOD! They have always delivered a tattoo which was greater than what i expected. I love their location and the natural lighting adds to the modern studio vibes. I always get a good feeling there bc it’s not dingy, dark and shady- it’s clean, modern, and durham’s most awesome tattoo shop. Prices are always fair for their art and well worth it. Has always been a really great experience!

Love this place. I’ve gotten three tattoos now from Kohen, one flash and two more custom requests. I’m in love with all of them. Not only is Kohen extremely talented at tattooing, he somehow knew exactly the aesthetic and style I wanted in a tattoo design with only a little information from me. Not only are all of my tattoos amazing, they look amazing side by side on my body. More than that, I always feel comfortable and safe in this shop. I’ll be back for another tattoo soon! It’s the only place I’ll go in Durham. Kohen did my most recent tattoo and it’s perfect. Pretty sure you can’t go wrong with any artist in this shop. As a Durham native, I also love that Kohen is from here and the shop has such a, no pun intended, welcoming local vibe.

I’ve been meaning to go here for a couple years and it did not disappoint. All the staff/artists were super attentive and kind, especially during my initial call with Morgan to request a walk-in on Saturday (which she informed me they do walk-ins every Saturday).I will absolutely be coming back to get some unfinished pieces completed and new tats done. Eric did a wonderful job on both my pieces, specifically the memorial tat/signature and my “333” also came out beautifully.

I LOVE my new tattoo. Kohen did amazing, it’s been a week and I have gotten so many compliments. It’s a simple Avatar the last air-bender tattoo but I saw he has a lot of great detailed art as well. Great environment, really nice people, everyone should go there!!

David is amazing, he is a great listener and can really put together what youre looking for. Ive done several sessions with him and always just defer to him on most artistic decisions. It always comes out better than I could have imagined.

Eric was great. Im not much of a talker, and I didnt feel at all pressured to maintain a conversation. I was able to just chill while Eric focused on his art. When something came up to talk about, having a conversation was easy. Im very happy with the tattoo itself and glad I allowed Eric to do his thing with just a few requirements on my end.

Great shop! Clean, efficient booking, responsive, and stellar artists. I’ve been tattooed twice by Matt and once by Jacob. Both have been great! Extremely professional, approachable, and talented. I’m looking forward to my next piece at Welcome and one day I’ll try the “get what you get” gum-ball machine for fun. Parking is easy too - lots of on-street parking nearby and an easily walkable area.

Reached out in advance of their Friday the 13th event and received a prompt and thorough response through instagram. Came in on the day and was impressed by how clean and “welcoming” the shop was. Eric was my tattoer. He was quick but didn’t hurry. Tattoo was priced fairly and I am psyched with the result. Excellent experience all around. I’ve been tattooed all over the country and I was really happy with my experience. I’ll be back for sure!

I love this shop!! Getting tattooed can be a pretty intimate transaction and as a trans person even more so. I felt very welcomed (pun fully intended) by the staff and my artist, Eric Ayala. All of the artists working there are kind and warm and super talented and have great twisted senses of humor. 10/10 get tattooed here!

Visiting Durham and happened across the shop. I had something in mind for a while, and through some scheduling magic got in to see Jacob on a same day walk in. The shop is great and Jacob was super cool. Very happy with the new installation and my experience getting it.

Kind of expensive but amazing work. Guy got me in within a week for a detailed tattoo which only took 45 min and tweaked the drawing to my liking. Will be coming back for sure.

Brian did a traditional style dog portrait for me. His work is amazing! It was my first time at Welcome Tattoo and first time working with Brian. Definitely going back to see him in the near future. The establishment is very clean and COVID protocols are in place. 10/10 recommend!

We did walk in saturday. My recommendation is get there at least an hour early to opening and bring sunscreen while you wait in line. Paul did amazing. First tattoo and I was pretty nervous. Paul was so chill and reassuring. From my buddies who also got tatted by him, they said he was very light handed compared to other artists theyve had. I really couldnt have expected a better first time experience. It sucks I live kind of far away, because I have more tattoo ideas and would love to come back.

This is hands down the best shop in Durham. Sometimes tattoo shops can be a little off-putting but Morgan and Kohen are always very welcoming and friendly. The shop is bright and vibrant and the walls are covered in art. Its just a really pleasant place to be. Kohen and Paul are both great artists. Paul has been working on my leg for the past few months and everything hes drawn up has been amazing.Do yourself a favor and get tattooed here. Youll love it!

The tattoo itself is high quality, and Eric did an amazing job! Everyone was nice and respectful, but the wait was long. I waited from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm to get a 30 minute tattoo. But, overall I would definitely come back for my next tattoo because the quality and customer service outweigh the long wait.

I got my first tattoo here for my birthday. Everything was alright until I took off the bandage the next day and my tattoo appeared cloudy. After a week I asked the shop and they just kept giving me the response that they didn’t know. I asked if it was a blowout and no one seemed to answer. The shop was very nice and clean though.

Clean, professional shop. Highly recommend! On Saturdays they do walk ins. I did this today and I was happy with the experience. They put out a sign up sheet at 11am, I got there at 10:45 and there were about 6 people ahead of me. I arranged everything at the shop, was seen around 2:30, and I was done by 4. David did my tattoo and he was quick and gentle; he did a great job. Id go back again anytime.

I am a boring 40 year old woman stepping into the coolest shop. To start, Kohen was booked so I chose a consult with Brian because I also like his work. But Brian didnt try and sell me. He told me straight up this wasnt his style and wed both be unhappy. Then he went and got Kohen, who sketched what I wanted in mere minutes and booked me an appointment a few months out. So listen...I have NEVER been so comfortable with someone sticking needles in my harm. The tattoo is beautiful. Kohen is fast and professional and So. Damn. Good. 5/5⭐ can recommend!

Welcome Tattoo is the best shop in the triangle as far as Im concerned. Excellent artists who are safe, consensual, clean, and all around nice people. I have tons of tats, and have gotten several stand alone tattoos from Kohen and am having him complete a leg sleeve for me, and every time I go in its one of the nicest studio experiences Ive had. 5/5Update: my leg sleeve is complete besides a touch up session. Definitely recommend anyone looking for a quality tattoo to come here!

The actual tattooing experience was great, David did my tattoo and he was very reassuring, respectful, chill, and accommodating! I appreciate his adaptability when I changed my tattoo three times.The only thing I did not like, was the receptionists service. It took me a while to even confirm my tattoo because every tattoo that I brought to her, she just kept saying it couldn’t be done on the spot that I wanted it on. However, when I finally talked to the artist, which was David, he approved the tattoo instantly, and said it was no problem. That part was just very overwhelming and frustrating for me but I highly recommend David as an artist.

They fully explain what information they need on the signup sheet and how they’ll contact you when it’s time for your appointment. And this is the nicest tattoo shop I’ve ever seen. Morgan was extremely kind and welcoming. I was a walk in on a Sunday and the entire process was seamless. Jacob did a stellar job answering all my questions and being patient while we figured out placement. He wasn’t heavy handed and was good at communicating what was happening. My tattoo has since healed at it is gorgeous. This shop created such a safe space and I will absolutely be coming back.

I was visiting friends in NC and we decided to get tattoos together. I was very hesitant considering this wasn’t going to be my regular artist but I figured what the hell, how bad can it be?! Well Matt was absolutely amazing. He gave me exactly what I wanted. The shop is clean and well organized. Everyone was friendly and experienced. I would recommend Matt all day long. So much so that I am putting together a rough sketch of a much larger piece and I will be contacting him to see if he’s interested. I have no issues flying down to NC for him. He’s that good! He did my friends tattoo as well and hers was perfect too. We both had a lot of straight lines, dots, ect..all things that look simple but can go very wrong. He did an EXCELLENT job.

The staff was wonderful and helpful. Jacob did an excellent job with my nephews idea and helping him with his 1st tattoo. I was also excited to learn that they are fluent with vegan ink, so Ill be visiting soon!

For any future tattoos, I will be going to Welcome Tattoo! David did a cover up of an arrow tattoo on my right wrist and a touch up for an ampersand symbol (&) on my left wrist. I’m in love with how everything turned out! The tattoo that was covered up, I got over 6 years ago, but I put off doing anything about it because I’m very self conscious of the self harm scars on my arms. I was nervous going into the appointment but I’m so grateful for the comfortable environment David created. I did not feel judged or ashamed, but instead just a client coming in for some cool new artwork. This might seem like something little, but it made all the difference to me. Thank you!

I had a great experience at Welcome Tattoo! I did their walk-in Saturday because I knew exactly what I wanted, had a picture, and my friend has had great experiences there. I suggest lining up around 10:00 for walk-in Saturday which is what I did. The sign-up sheet was put out at 11:00 and I was messaged at 11:30 to come back at 12:00 when they open for my tattoo. I was the 5th or 6th person in line and they had 5 artists tattooing that day so it was a quick turnaround for me! Based on the pictures I sent in after signing up, Matt drew up a beautiful design that was exactly what I wanted. Everyone there was extremely friendly and I highly recommend Welcome whether you are newer to tattoos like me (this was my second tattoo and much bigger than my first) or if you’re a pro.

Both times now, the experience has been exceptionally positive.The front desk staff are kind and transparent about what clients are to expect. They make intake and scheduling simple, and they try to be flexible.The artists are creative, personable, and collaborative. The first time David tattooed me, he consulted other artists in the shop as he drew on my stencil by hand. He wanted to ensure everything looked right, and his execution was fantastic. I will continue coming back to him, but you cannot go wrong with any artist here, in my opinion.Their prices are fair and their schedule is busy, but every experience there is worth the time and money. You’ll find no better tattoo shop in the Triangle than Welcome.

They had amazing communication and were able to put us on their waitlist and communicate an exact time to come in so our wait was not long at all.
