I highly recommend this shop! I went with friends on Tuesday for the 2 for $30 deal. I had looked at reviews online and decided to go to this specific Screaming Needle location because I saw a lot of good reviews on Andrew. Im glad I did! He was so patient, quick, and friendly! When we first entered the shop, the receptionist (I didnt catch their name, I wish I could shout them out) greeted us in a kind and relaxing manner, making jokes and teasing to put us at ease and was so welcoming. The piercer, Andrew, made sure we were confident, and pierced us quickly, but with precision. Piercings (daith and helix) barely hurt (coming from someone with low pain tolerance). He also pierced my friend, who was extremely nervous, and was very patient with her, and helped her decide what to do when her original plan didnt work out. I will absolutely be coming back here, and I highly recommend not only the shop, but the piercer, Andrew! Thank you Screaming Needle for the awesome experience!

Place is okay, my ear and nose piercing were good but my belly wasn’t really good. Andrew did not do it straight, and he was kinda rude as well. i went back to have it looked at and he said it looked like that cuz i’m fat and squished my stomach together. when u try to make conversation he just doesn’t care

Visited the shop to pick up replacement jewelry for two of my piercings. I explained to the receptionist at the counter that all I needed was a new bar & was immediately shut down & told “I don’t know anything about that so you’re going to have to wait for Andrew (piercer) to get done so he can grab that for you”. Usually I wouldn’t mind waiting but Andrew was in the process of piercing multiple people & there was still more people waiting to get pierced in the lobby. We waited for the first two people & then instead of offering to just grab me a quick replacement out of the case, we were made to wait for him to get through the entire lobby of piercings before us.If you are going to work as a receptionist at a piercing & tattoo shop, you should be trained to have some knowledge of what is in the case & other basic answers to commonly asked questions. No reason why I should have to wait for an extended period of time to get a piece of jewelry while everyone else is getting actual work done because the employees aren’t properly educated.

I love this place, the customer service is always good. They always thank you for coming in. I go here for Morgan though. He is the piercing whisperer! He did my piercing so fast and had me laughing the entire time. He is efficient, quick and had great customer service. I wish he was piercing everyday because I would come up with an idea to get more piercing because of him. I will always be loyal because of Morgan. Yall need to call and find out when he is piercing because he is the truth.

NEVER get a piercing here. I’ve only heard horror stories, but my ears usually in the past have healed very well from piercings so I decided to go for their 2/30 deal. I got 2 cartilage piercings, one of them I had to take out after a month because of how painful it was, and the other I’ve had in for over a year, I cleaned it and took care of it DAILY and it NEVER healed so I decided to take it out, I now have a huge bump on my ear and it is extremely infected. Never go here, not worth it for the cheap piercings!!!

I just got my nose ring removed because I have a surgery coming up and can’t have it in & the whole process was super easy. I also asked them a bunch of stupid questions and they didnt treat me like I was stupid which is appreciated. I could tell they were very well versed in piercing/tattoo knowledge which made me feel very comfortable. I will definitely be returning here for all of my piercing needs. I like supporting people that are kind and patient. Thank you!

Took my 16yr old for her birthday today. Got her second ear piercing and bellybutton. First off, the young receptionist was so welcoming and charming. The gentleman with the longer hair was just that a gentleman. And lastly Andrew did a quick, and precise job. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

I had my daiths piercings done there and Andrew was amazing he was professional and made me feel comfortable and the whole staff was very friendly and welcoming. The shop is clean and you can tell they care about what they do thank you for all you do I will definitely be back!!!!!!!

Sadly I wasn’t able to get mine done (make sure your license is up to date). However my friend had a great experience. Very clean and fast. Staff was very respectful and handled a rush well.

I had a great experience at Screaming Needle in GR. I went in for the Tuesday piercing deal and was in and out easy. My piercer Andrew was great. Piercings were done quick and smooth! I got my conch and helix done and I love them!!

Recommend 10/10 Andrew was fantastic hardly felt the nipples or the double nose piercing. Super friendly super fast and minimal pain so glad I came here to get them done also got them done for 2 for 30 for both sets of piercings wonderful deal wonderful place

Cant say enough great things about this place & the staff! Was in tonight for a tattoo with Joey & it turned out AMAZING! I met with him a few days prior to go over the details, but had otherwise never had any tattoo work done here. The front desk staff was very helpful & friendly, along with the other tattoo artists. Prices are very fair, work areas are very clean & sanitary. Super chill & welcoming environment, especially with having never been in before for any length of time. Joey did an amazing job on my tattoo. Lines are super clean & I couldnt be happier. You can absolutely tell hes extremely skilled at his trade. I will for sure be a returning customer & recommend this spot to others!

Best tattoo could be who a fellow tattoo artist gets their tattoo. I see Jeff Grachtrup. He can be found at the Plainfield location. Jeff has been tattooing for over 3 decades. (I’ve seen other shops brag how long they have been tattooing but they combined everyone’s time, lol). Jeff isn’t just a tattooist, he is an artist. Big teddy bear too for you first timers. I have been tattooed by a few people. Jeff is light handed but the color/shading on your tattoo is solid and heals well. With his time he has also the knowledge of what works & what doesn’t. Our skin bodies are 70%ish water; so if Jeff tells you to change the design… trust him. I recently had him recolor a half sleeve and piece on my spine. I love them….and wish I recolored them sooner. Jeff’s prices are more than reasonable. He really should charge more. You are getting a deal for what you are receiving, so May I suggest tipping him.

The receptionist was great and professional, unlike the piercer he was rude and aggressive I came with a group of people and they said he was nice but NOT AT ALL FOR ME. if youre coming to an uncomfortable aggressive male environment go ahead.

I had my lower lips pierced. I love it but my body didnt reacted well to the material of the piercings. I got me some different ones and cant wait to get it done again. They are great people, clean, professional, quick.

I went in for the 2 for 30 deal on Tuesday to get my helix and tragus pierced! It was a professional, sanitary, and safe environment, and the staff at the front desk were fast, informative, and precise! Andrew, the piercer, was ready immediately, and he got it all done within 5 minutes! Very fast, efficient, and talented! Of course, there were a lot of people there due to the great Tuesday deal, but they visibly went through customers at a timely manner! Thank you for the new piercings-- Ill be coming again soon!

Ive had piercings from other places, and ever since coming here on one of their 2 for 30 days, Ive never gone anywhere else. Andrew does an amazing job, super quick, answers any questions, walks you through aftercare, 20/10.

Went on 2 for $30 day for getting my lobes triple pierced (so 4 piercings). Not long of a wait at all, super efficient and clean. I was out in 30 minutes total and the piercing itself took less than 5 minutes, I swear. Quickest and most painless piercing experience Ive ever had. Andrew knows what hes doing, hes super personable and it was just a great experience overall. Highly recommend!

Lovely job with the piercings! With proper care I’ve always had a smooth healing process from all the piercings I’ve had here! Quick and efficient setup that covers all the information you need and gets it done fast. Always helpful with any issues that popped up afterwards. My go too for any peircing.

I had a great first experience at the Plainfield Screaming Needle! I went in on a Tuesday (2 piercings for $30), and there were lots of other people doing the same. A bit of a wait, but worth it! Go right when it opens if you don’t want to wait. I got two helix piercings on the same ear, which I recommend - if you get a piercing on each ear it’s harder to sleep on your side. I was really nervous going in, but it didn’t hurt at all! I iced my ear for about 30min while waiting in line and I think that did the trick, so I recommend! It’s been about 5 days since and there’s minimal soreness. I recommend!

Came in today for a nostril piercing. The girl at the front desk was just awesome. Great customer service with several people waiting in the shop. Stephanie my piercer was kind and patient and helped me feel at ease with her immediately. Thanks for a truly great experience!

Ive had at least 8 tattoos done at their Plainfield location over the years. Its a great place. Nice people. Excellent artists! I highly recommend them.

My fiancé and I just got a couples tattoo today, and I am so in love!! Toast did an incredible job, and was just super sweet and fun to work with. He added so much extra shading, detail, and gorgeous color…and even redrew the expression on baby Bugs’ face, which is absolutely perfect! 🙌 The finished pieces are even more than we’d hoped for…far exceeded expectations. Beyond thrilled! Thank you so much! Highly recommend, and will definitely be back!

I brought my 5 year old to get her ears pierced. I was surprised that the price was $60, since I read on their website it was 2 for $30. But thats only Tuesdays, stated on a separate page.When they were ready for the piercings, my daughter changed her mind and they refused to refund. We were given a gift card instead. There should be an option to get your money back, especially with little kids.After some time, my daughter found the courage and we went back. Andrew did the piercing and he was excellent with her. He told her everything he was doing as he worked and was quick and kind.My daughters experience was excellent. My experience was frustrating.

Absolutely love my new tattoo! I went to a different tattoo shop before this and they did not want to work with me or my design. The two ladies at the front wanted to help and figure out my design / get me in for the tattoo the same day!

Customer service here was great, the lady at the desk was very nice. Jonny, the piercer was not. He was rude and very rough with the piercings I got. Caused me to bleed for an hour, and they hurt for days. I have multiple piercings, and have never had this experience with any of them. Definitely dont recommend being pierced by him.

I got two piercings on my ear. Receptionist was fabulous! She was so nice and welcoming. Andrew the guy who did my piercings was pretty cold he didnt really talk me through what he was doing. I got my nose and ears pierced here, and had such a great experience I came back for a tattoo! All were great, Andrew did my piercings, he was calm and relaxed which helped me. A lot of people said in reviews he needed better bedside manner, but I thought he was great. Quick and easy, got in and out. Jeff did a tattoo of my two dogs, and worked so hard on the design and his linework was great, he was fun to talk to while he worked and did a great job. Would def recommend!

My daughter showed up last Tuesday and they had my information but turned my daughter away because there was no photo proof she was the person on the birth certificate, she forgot her school ID. I was so proud because lets say someone else tries to bring her in for a tattoo i don’t approve of, i know they won’t let it happen. Im so glad it has to be proven 100% you are who you say you are and the kid is in your care to have it done. We went back today, we were the first ones there, went a half hr early because the second they open people flood in, they were nice and they were really fast!! I’m glad we went early and skipped waiting in line. We wouldn’t have went early if we didn’t see how crowded it was the prior week when we were turned away due to the missing documents lol

In the process of getting a tattoo I just got 5 months ago removed because its so awful. Way too dark and deep and was done by a guy who apparently has been tattooing for 20+ years and said he knew what fine line was. He didnt even change needles to shade. Now I have to spend money on removal to get it done by someone who actually knows how to tattoo.

I didnt get to fill out a form at the front desk so Im just going to put it on this. First of all, I got my double helix piercings here back in September and had a pretty good experience. The place was super clean and I decided to come back here for my eyebrow and tragus. I havent had any problems with them and again had an amazing experience. I had Jonny pierce me and he did an amazing job. I will definitely be coming back again.

Do not let Jonny pierce you. Went here for the first time to get piercings. I already have multiple and was going to get my nose redone, belly button tapered, and get a daith done. Customer service was amazing. Not sure what he did to my belly button, but it was noticably becoming infected the same day it was done. Used saline, piercing oil, and cleaned it regularly. By day 3 I had to pull it out. By day 5 I went in to have it looked at and they told me it wasnt done properly and was infected. My nose hasnt stopped bleeding in a week. After those two were done I declined the daith before he could do it. I have my n***les done and those hurt less than the taper and nose, which shouldnt be how it is. Strongly suggest staying away from here if Jonny is on for piercings.

I used to love this place. The current receptionist with pink hair is VERY rude. She allowed somebody who came in after me to be “helped” before me. Then when I told her “hey I haven’t been helped yet” she said in the most rude passive aggressive way “oh I know! I’m helping other clients”. With a huge smile on her face. I understand people who had appointments will b helped first, but I’m talking about people who walked in to make an appointment just like me cutting me in line. Maybe she isn’t smart or friendly enough to be a receptionist here.

Went here for a spur of the moment septum and the lady up front i love her! So sweet and very welcoming. Andrew who did it did an amazing job, quick, painless and just great people/ vibe all around!

Andrew was pleasant and efficient as always, making sure to take the time and make sure I was ok thru the whole experience. Over the winter I went from having 8 piercings to three and getting my nose done today was the first time I’ve gotten pierced in a long time and it was kinda a big deal to me and I was pretty nervous but Andrew was fantastic thru everything. If something wont work theyll let you know. Theyre also cheap for their service. I 100% recommend for anyone who wants to get something done on a whim.

Got my first tattoo after 21 years here a few weeks ago. Turned out great. Skot is an awesome artist! Will definitely be coming back for more work. The entire process was great. They were quick to get me in for a consult and had appointment times available within the next week.

Front desk very welcoming and nice, helped with all I needed. I got a couple piercings and I was nervous and the piercer was only like you’re fine. As someone who enjoys their job you would think comforting your patient would be one of your tasks. I had my piercing for 8 hours and woke up in pain and blood everywhere to come to find out my ball fell off and my piercing fell out. I’m not impressed. This is 2nd time coming here with the same piercer and he was nothing but rude and only cares about getting you in and out

Had two friends go to this place, both had horrible a experience with Johnny as their piercer. He seemed annoyed that they were there the entire time, not to mention was very rough during the piercing process, and offered no warning prior to pushing the needle through despite being asked to. place might be decent otherwise, but he’s not.

It was alright, you could hear the employees complaining about customers while sitting in the waiting room a few feet away. The receptionist was a bit rude but it bothered my girlfriend more than it really bothered me. We heard our friends got a 2 for 30 deal on piercings but we were told you cant split the 2 for 30 deal between people which was like oh well but then the piercing dude gave me a love jab in the nose with the needle as he was getting his tools lined up to pierce my septum lol. Its whatever I guess, at least I have a nose piercing now, might go somewhere else next time

First off, Andrew is the man.I went here a week ago with my sister, who had previously gotten piercings from him. The 2 for $30 deal is a steal. Andrew was very informative, quick & personable throughout the entire experience.Also, he has a portrait in his office of him chillin, smokin a pipe, (not in an egotistical manner) & idk why but it added to the experience 🤣

I normally go to art n soul in Kalamazoo. But they are not doing any oral piercings at the moment. I drove an hour and thirty mins one way to go to this establishment. I have a few critics. I went in for my Ashley piercing. I called the day before and was given the basic info cost ,jewelry option and up charge for gems etc. I went in on a Wednesday around 3:30 they weren’t to busy. No to the critics. 1. I paid before service. 2. Wasn’t able to leave a tip on a card. 3. None of the employees were wearing masks. 4. I did not get to see placement prior to piercing. 5. I did not get to see piercing after done. 6. No prep Andrew was very nice good vibe but there was no counting no breathing nothing. So I left shaking. 7. I know lip piercings are supposed to swell but mine did immediately and my lip is swallowing the jewelry. I have no idea what gauge was used and I didn’t see any set up. 8. I wanted to do the up charge and get a gem bar but I didn’t get the option to choose my jewelry. In total I have 14 piercings and 5 tattoos so I am not new to the game. I probably won’t go back to this establishment due to my experience. The studio was clean and well lit and the staff was friendly but my experience wasn’t great. The pictures are day 2.

Honestly the worst piercing experience Ive had. I got my septum done by Jonny. Started out fine until he went to clamping my nose without warning and like not that big of a deal but he had the placement wrong and tried pushing the needle through and couldnt get it through. I asked for just a minute because I was in so much pain and the dude didnt even let me get a breath in he grabbed the clamp and just shoved the needle through. Ive had other more extreme piercings done and I know the protocol for when someone asks for them to stop. Especially when they just stabbed halfway through and failed at getting the placement. On top of all that pain its extremely crooked and I have no choice but to take it out. Its not high enough up and its crooked. A terrible piercing and honestly a worse experience with the piercer. I will be bringing in photos because I cant leave this in as its on my face and just too noticeable. I will be asking for my money back and hopefully nobody else goes to this guy because I am stunned at the unprofessionalism.

I went here for my first tattoo and I do not regret it! The staff are down to earth, helpful, professional, and really make you feel welcomed. Stephanie (front desk) was amazing and I was so thankful for her wise, honest opinion. Scott did my tattoo and he was friendly, funny, super experienced in his work, and did an awesome job!*note that they probably only do walk ins so at times they can be busy and you just have to be patient and understanding

I walked in today without an appointment after having an unpleasant experience at another place. First, Ashton at the front desk was amazing making sure that we got exactly what we wanted. She was so helpful and great to work with. Dom did my actual work and he did an amazing job. He also was professional but also super easy going and fun. The tattoo looks amazing. Terry worked on my brother and his tattoo also came out amazing. We will come back again and request both of them. From my previous experience of dating someone who owned a shop and knowing the rules and regulations....they are spot on with it all. If you are looking for a clean, fun, professional place that does amazing work look no further. It takes a lot to really impress me and I was super impressed.

Got my nose done today and it was affordable, quick, and easy. I recommend going close to when they open. Sometimes they get really busy after 3 or so. Chris B did my piercing and was very welcoming and kind. The front desk workers were kind as well. Clean environment.

Incredible experience!! Walked in and immediately was greeted by the most friendly lady. Basically zero wait time, Andrew was super helpful because I was indecisive as to what side to do what. Got my nose and tragus pierced - no pain and I was in & out in no time! A mom and her two little girls were leaving as I got there and no tears from either one after getting their ears pierced. Highly recommend Screaming Needle and Andrew in particular!!

My daughter got her navel pierced. Everyone was so friendly and made her feel comfortable as she was so nervous. Her piercing ended up being a little crooked. But I’m sure it can’t always be perfect.

I went in with my 16 year old daughter to get her nostril pierced. We got there right when they opened but they were already very busy. Despite that, the ladies at the front desk were awesome and got us our paperwork and on the list very quickly. We only waited about 15 minutes total and the staff member that did her piercing was very nice and professional. Would definitely go back.

I got my doubles (ears) pierced here for the first time, and I had a great experience. I loved the staff, and the environment. The reason why its a four instead of a five is because my piercings did come somewhat uneven, but I wanted to get the process over quick, so I didnt check before he pierced. It personally doesnt bother me, but for the future, I will definitely double check.

Took my 11 month old today. First - they take children under 1. Second - Extremely clean and professional staff. The gentleman who pierced my daughters ear was very cool, patient and was very good to work with. Did a walk in and it was very fast. I would HIGHLY recommend this place. Again clean, friendly and fast. $50 for my daughters ears. Not to bad

Went Saturday night they were kind of busy but got me in (walk in) in a timely manner. Super professional and friendly staff. I got my nipples and nose pierced and Andrew made the whole experience comfortable for me. Definitely recommend and would go back. Thank you guys for being awesome!

The past two times Ive been here for my piercings Ive had nothing but positive experiences. The staff are super friendly and welcoming and the environment is clean. Their 2 for 30$ deal on Tuesdays is great and the walk-in service is super convenient. Screaming Needle definitely stands out from other shops and I strongly recommend.

I have went to the Plainfield location three times now during the 2 for 30$ piercing deal on Tuesday. Andrew is a really nice person, but over time, the more I have educated myself on piercings and piercing etiquette the more I realized how many things are done wrong.I have gotten a forward helix, conch, two helix, and a septum and side of nose piercing there. The septum is the only one that has healed okay. I got three of my piercings pierced with hoops, and every one got a bump or got infected and split skin. If a piercing shop offers hoops as an option for a first piercing, they most likely don’t know what they’re doing, or only offer it because it’s a popular option. They pierce with the wrong jewelry a good 85% of the time. Two of my piercings got infected because I had a butterfly back earring put in my outer cartilage, which is horrible for so many reasons, and a lip stud put in my forward helix that I can’t get it out, it’s super infected so I have to go somewhere else to get it taken care of. One of my helix piercings was pierced crooked. To be honest, it’s not at all unsanitary, it’s just they mess up so bad with using cheap jewelry and the wrong type of jewelry. Also I feel like they should not have the 2 for 30 because they only have one piercer, no one else, and he does probably 50-100 piercings just on Tuesday. That’s too much stress on one person, and probably why he messes up sometimes, I would too if I was in his position. It’s severely understaffed and it shows.

I just came in to buy a replacement for my nose ring and had assumed it would just be a quick stop but I ended up waiting for over 15 minutes before anyone helped me. There was another customer in line behind me but the employees let 2 people walk in and cut in front of us and get helped right away. When someone finally helped me, he gave me a stud that was too small since he never asked what gauge I needed. I also had told them that I was replacing mine because it was swollen and the new one he gave me was shorter than my current one, so it’s basically completely useless to me. Would’ve gone back and asked to switch it for the right one but I’d rather just lose the $15.

Me and my mom had great service from Archie! He gave us the best mother daughter tattoos! Also the receptionist, Stephanie, is the SWEETEST!! We felt very welcomed! Thanks for everything, guys. Well be back, for sure!

My first time getting a piercing. Was told they provide the ear rings. They only had two options: one orb shape but a bigger diameter rod which was not recommend by the worker, or small diamond faced option. I chose the diamond option and since they can’t be take out for 4-6 weeks to heal, I’ve been snagging them on all my clothes, and pillows and it’s causing a great deal of pain. Would love to see a small orb option so this doesn’t happen when I’m sleeping or changing shirts.

Took my daughter there for a nose piercing 2 times because she had nothing but problems from the first piercing. Same for the second time. Not a friendly atmosphere at all. I finally found a more reputable place that does exceptional work called Honest to Goodness!!! I will never go anywhere else for a piercing. Beware people if you are wanting a good piercing...this is so not the place for quality!!!!

Had both of my nips done and Andrew was FANTASTIC! Be prepared for a long wait on Tuesdays because of their two for one deal. And watch out for teenage girls who can’t tell the difference between silver and diamonds.

I got two piercings in my helix for the 2 for $30 deal in October. Did not get proper care instructions. Knowing my helix heals best with a hoop, I requested that was the jewelry she put in and she told me no and that it’d be fine. My piercings are still not healed and have been infected with keloids multiple times. The environment was rushed and not prepared to perform and produce healthy piercings.

Awesome experience from walking in the door and being treated great by Bubbles, the girl at the front. Got us worked in to get our ink and worked with us and our artist to make sure everything was what we wanted and it worked! Then we went back into a squeaky clean studio and sat while Toast did his magic. Great personalities and amazing artists. We highly recommend this place and will go back again for sure! Thank you!

Archie fixed/covered an old tattoo for me a while back and I had two piercings done by Andrew. I cant express how happy I am with both experiences! Archie is one hell of an artist and Andrew works quick and efficiently, which in my opinion is best when youre getting pierced. The receptionists are always a joy to talk to as well! Not a creepy tattoo shop like some places I have been. Clean and bright inside the shop. My sister and I went to get piercings and Andrew did a great job. You saw him wipe down everything before and after use, and was very easy to talk to.I also have gotten a tattoo here. Joey did my tattoo and did a awesome job! Black and gray rose and I receive compliments on it on a daily basis. He was friendly and put up with me even when I was starting to wimp out out of the tattoo.He gives great input to ensure that you get a sweet tattoo. Pretty much will only be going to screaming needle for my tattoos and piercings.

I just wanted my nose repierced...It was awful!!! I am not sure which guage he used but it was too large and the two piercings fell in and got tangled. I immediately called for help and they refused.We had our image of a simple tattoo also and the clearly inebriated tattoo artist wouldnt even open his eyes- just growled no at us.Seemed clean and ok, but worst experience ever

I got my first piercing yesterday. (My navel) and it was a very pleasent experience. Staff were all very nice and willing to help. The young man who actually did my piercing was very quick, and overall it was virtually painless. It was very cheap for the piercing and the crystal ring. Very pleased with Screaming Needle and very happy with my beautiful piercing!

The facility was clean; however, the person at the front desk was somewhat friendly but seemed clueless to all our questions. The piercer (Andrew) was friendly upon greeting us but his overall personality was dry and rude. I was a little nervous and tried making a little humor and he was just dry. My daughter also received a piercing as well and her experience and feelings were the same. Because of his bedside manor we chose NOT to leave him a tip. I called the next day (Andrew answered the phone) w/ a question regarding my piercing and his tone and words were the EXACT same dry/rude.

Quick and easy. My nose over swelled after the piercing and Andrew took care of me by replacing either a different size stud. Highly recommend!

I went here to get my second ear piercing two days ago and the service was amazing. the lady that pierced my ears was Zarah and she was very nice and calming and talked me through the process. it was only $50 which isn’t bad for the good quality. i’m definitely going again to get my nose pierced

Impulse tat with a close friend of mine that I worked with. We couldnt find a place with an opening and I called this location and was told to drop in and maybe we could be squeezed in. Turned out the appt that was originally scheduled never showed, or had the wrong date.....whatever the reason we were able to get right in.Toast was awesome, real easy to talk to, very down to earth. Absolutely loved the experience.

Andrew is hands down the best there is. He is beyond talented at what he does and makes you feel so comfortable about any piercing you are getting. He is absolutely the only person I trust with my piercings.

Have had many piercings done in the last 10 years and this was by far the most painful experience. I could actually hear the popping sound of the needle getting stabbed through my ear like he was throwing darts. My ear has been blue and purple for days. Reception was very nice and friendly, but the actual service was the worst Ive ever experienced.

I got my nose pierced here by andrew. he did a good job with the piercing, it healed well and everything too. but the people there aren’t overly friendly in my opinion. i felt really out of place here and the environment wasn’t super welcoming. andrew wasn’t very friendly and said maybe 5 words to me the whole time. i don’t expect a full on conversation or anything but maybe just ease the tension and nervousness, ya know? and i am really afraid of needles as well, so when he was doing it i did my best not to move but i was almost shaking, and when he got the needle in my nose, i let out a deep breath and a laugh because i was relieved it was over, and he was just kinda rude towards the fact that i was nervous. getting a piercing is a exciting and nerve wracking experience and you want to feel comfortable when getting it done, and i didn’t feel very comfortable here. they do good work but i think they should improve the environment and make it more friendly.

Ive gone there 2 different times for the 2 for $30. Each time I have had great experiences. The receptionist were amazing. The artist did an amazing job. He was patient and very kind.

Got my septum done by Andrew and it was great! He was efficient and knew exactly what he was doing so I felt comfortable. I was in and out in 10 minutes. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for piercings.

My 9 year old daughter just had her ears pierced at screaming needle on Plainfield and it was LITERALLY the best experience any of my kids or myself have ever had!! He did so h a fast easy pain free job and my daughter was worried for nothing ..I would never go anywhere else for another piercing and I would recommend them to everyone!!!

First time getting a tattoo from here and I was impressed they took me in super fast on Halloween which tends to be super busy I’m sure and I was just a walk in. We had our girls ears pierced and they were great! We were told first come first serve for piercings, but we were in and out in an hour. Im glad I called ahead because they ask for a birth certificate for minors and I wouldnt have thought to bring them.

My 16-year-old niece just lost her mother (my little sis) a few months ago. Her dad asked if I could take her with my family to get my daughters ears pierced and so she could get a nose piercing as he is home caring for her three little siblings. My brother in law offered to send an original birth certificate and to be available virtually on the phone (facetime) and and show all of his documents. I spoke with Xander the manager who not only would not even try to help accommodate her situation but sad that he lost his mother at 16 and he’s just fine so we should stop complaining. I do understand if there’s health regulations preventing him from helping usbut what horrible insensitive people they are.

I got my nose and doubles (ears) pierced here. My piercer wasn’t super friendly maybe just a bad day but I was nervous so it didn’t really help that he didn’t talk much. He marked my ears but didn’t let me check to see if I liked it. They are a bit uneven but with certain earrings it’s not as bad. He also didn’t mark my nose he just went right into it with a needle. It is in a good spot but I would’ve liked to approve it first. The bad thing about my nose piercing is that it was red for a very long time and when the redness died down, a keloid appeared. I haven’t been able to get rid of it since it got here. I’ve tried many things such as the cleaner that they sell, sea salt water, etc... I’m not sure if it’s the jewelry or something but I’m not impressed with that.

Made me come into the shop to set an appointment. Fine, no problem get there and no artist had time to look at my wanted tattoo. It was 15 minutes after open and nobody was really busy. Said Id have to come back again. I went two miles down the road and went to PAIN FOR SALE. GOT WHAT I WANTED NO HASSEL

First tattoo experience: They have a friendly and inviting staff. The sketch reflected exactly what I wanted (its a custom only shop.) I was told that I could come back in for touch ups, which I did. Im happy with the final results.

I went here to get some jewelry and thought i’d be getting good quality things but the price seemed pretty cheap, $25 if i recall correctly. But still i really thought nothing of it since they are the professionals, not even 2 weeks later, after 7 months of perfect healing, they become grossly infected and i was almost positive it was the jewelry. i go home to my piercer at home who has wonderful quality stuff and he takes a close up picture of the jewelry and it was tarnishing and the pieces were glued together and it was definitely not quality. He sells lifetime warranty on all his jewelry with a certificate of the jewelry and the products it is. Bottom line is don’t go here, just another piercing shop scamming and taking advantage of you. However, if horrible quality jewelry and then getting infected weeks later due to super cheap jewelry is your thing, then this is the perfect place!

I got two piercing from this guy named Andrew and he was so rude! He was sarcastic and made me feel stupid throughout the entire appointment. He did not dot my ears before piercing and I wish the two piercings were closer together but it’s to late. Everyone else was super sweet. Just watch out for know-it-all Andrew.

The people there have always been so nice to me and the piercings are always done super quick. They definitely know what theyre doing. The only thing is that it seems like they put my septum a little too high but I also know nothing about septums.

In the process of setting up an appointment. Got an estimate, filled out paper work, did the down payment. The guy at the counter didnt relay what i wanted in full to the tattoo artist so my tattoo price doubled because I double checked. Can I have my down payment back. No. All this happened in store not like I left and came back. Ink didnt even dry on the paper yet. But my money disappeared.

Needed some surgical grade earrings to replace a set I lost. The staff was helpful in removing my current jewelry and installing my new set, and the price was very reasonable. Had to wait a while, but not terrible for a walk-in.

I did the 2 for $30 twice for my 3rd lobe, rook and helix. It went great pretty painless but it was a very fast setting and more of a Im here to do a job and get it done so it felt very unpersonal and rushed but it was Tuesday and they have the deal so maybe they were just trying to get through everyone

I got my nipples pierced in December. The guy who did it was nice and made me feel comfortable, but my left piercing was made too deep. One of the balls keeps entering the piercing tunnel. It has gotten to the point of being half way through. It hurt so I had to take it out.

I stopped in to inquire about touching up my semi colon and have a little added around it, and they were very prompt at getting me in, and my artist, is truly an artist, as he free handed a heart around my semi colon. I was surprised by the extras he added, and am completely happy with how this turned out! It is more beautiful than I even imagined ! Thanks Archie!

Pretty rude people, Ive gone there twice for piercing. The first time was a year and a half ago, I got two piercing and one of them still has not healed. It was a piercing half way up my ear, so not a particularly bad spot for a piercing so I cant believe that it still bleeds. I clean it, and followed their post-piercing instructions exactly.The second time was about 6 months ago and I just got a second lobe piercing on the other ear, and that also still hasnt healed. I was curious if it could be something I was doing wrong, and Ive found that they use cheap earrings that could slow the healing process. Im taking these out and buying nicer ones.The cheap earrings they provide their customers shows the lack of responsibilities to their customers but what bothered me the most was the rude service. I am in customer service and I would never treat customers the way they treat them; especially considering that people come in to get piercing and tattoos and may be nervous, and need reassurance.

I got my septum pierced here and had no complications, but recently got nipple piercings. I came in for a consultation because my left piercing is pierced partly through the areola. Andrew said it was just swelling and I was being nit-picky. Of course Im nit-picky about my piercings not being the same! Its very disappointing that Im going to have to take my piercing out and get it repierced instead of getting it correctly done the first time.

Got a tat yesterday and i am more than impressed, its 100% better than i could have ever expected. My plan is to sleeve both arms and i know for sure ill be back to see joey very soon. I highly recommend this location. Friendly staff and always very professional. a pleasure to do business with. Not much else to say. This place rocks !

Love the atmosphere, but some of the staff at the Plainfield location have a tendency to come off as rude or condescending which made me feel kind of uncomfortable. But I will say that Ashton, who works behind the front desk, is wonderful, SUPER helpful, and willing to answer any questions you have. If anything, she made me feel better about being there.

Andrew pierced my second set of nostril piercings. He pierced at an awful slanted angle and even with a strict cleaning routine that has worked for all of my 16 other piercings, it would not heal and infected due to the tissue Andrew damaged from piercing at such a sharp angle. Would not recommend.

Got #4 from Little Mike (he did a Zelda Arm piece in bronze ink) Had to have that one touched up (for free) He wouldnt even take a tip for my touch up!! Going back in the next few days for tat #5 (FF10 tat) going to try to get Joey again! Great customer service and great work from people who really care what their customers think! Pierced the wrong thing when I went in and placed the conch in a really bad spot so I couldnt put a jewel in it; retired both piercings a couple of days after.I didnt notice the incorrect placement or the wrong piercing until I got home because I couldnt see my ear in the mirror after. I called as soon as I noticed and was informed I would be able to get a full refund for the issue, told them I would be in the following Friday to get it. When I stopped in, I was told they cant do refunds even though I was explicitly told I would get it in full because they messed up. They eventually gave me a $10 gift card that I will never use and still sits in my wallet a year later.

I came here on Saturday to get a nose ring and was told that it would need to be re pierced because hole was too small for the studs they have, so I let them do it. I’ve had my nose done for 2 years and never felt this much pain, it’s beat red and already infected. My friend had the same exact problem when she went and got her nose done for the first time she had such a bad infection she had to take I.T out...

I have no issue with the piercer or the piercing I got but the woman at the front desk who checked me in was very condescending. I was choosing what jewelry I wanted for my piercing and she said something about needing to check something in another room. I said she could attend to that while I decided. Then she responded, “Yeah, right. I’m not leaving you alone with them.”I understand if that might not be store policy to do that but I was just trying to be nice and I felt there are way more polite ways to say that she can’t leave me alone with the jewelry. I wonder if this was race-related (I’m Filipino) or if she was just tactless about it. Either way, it rubbed me the wrong way and I’m not coming back.

Came in seeking help for a very irritated piercing. The re-pierced it and gave me a “medical grade titanium” earring. My ear got significantly worse so I went to another shop. They tested the earring and it WASN’T pure titanium. Got a new earring from a different shop and now my ear is fine. I could have avoided having extra holes in my ear and 2 months of discomfort if they were just honest about their earrings.

I went to the Grand Rapids location to get my tragus done, and I accidentally said conch, and the lady who was piercing me was VERY rude about it, so I just decided to get my conch done instead. A couple of days after I had it done, I thought it might be infected, and so I went in to get it checked. They barley even took two glaces at it after what I felt like interrogating me. Ive had it done for over a year now, and it still has not healed. The same day my best friend got the other half of her snakebites done, and the same girl pierced it crooked, and higher than the other side of her lip. The second time I went there with my best friend for her tattoo. When we called they said to come in and theyd get us in quickly. Well we ended up waiting there for 6+ hours because the tattoo artist never showed up. We tried setting up another appointment and they said they didnt have any for the next day, so we continued to wait. About 30 mins later two girls walked in and got a tattoo appointment for the very next day that they apparently didnt have I will never go there again after the experience both my best friend and I have had.

I went with my friend to get 2 piercings done today (Tuesday, August 20th). She has major anxiety and a phobia of needles, but she loves the look of piercings. So, I went with her for moral support. We get in there and Im hyping up my friend to keep her from having an anxiety attack and our piercer Andrew was not being very nice with his statements. Considering the fact that he doesnt know my friend or I and her existing conditions and mentalities, he had no right to be treating me like I didnt know what I was doing with her. So, we get to the piercing section and her first piercing was fine until he had trouble getting the ball on the jewelry (which I get, its a small piece and wearing gloves doesnt make it any easier). When he cleaned up the blood with a cotton swabs, he was quite aggressive, he was not being very gentle around her piercing site. So we move on to the next piercing and this one hurt her quite a bit, but she was being a champ! He was tugging on the piece after he put it through the hole while he was trying to put the ball on this one. He was quite literally tugging, I watched her ear move! She was wincing in pain. Ive seen friends get the same piercings (as well as my own piercings) and their piercers were VERY gentle! He was, again, aggressive with the cleaning of this second piercing as well, causing her more pain by being rough around her piercing site. After we were all done and celebrating her accomplishment, he says, and I quote, You see what happens when your friends tell you everything will be fine? There is literally NO excuse as to why he had to treat us the way he did. Everything else was great! AMAZING front desk staff!!! ❤

Not sure about the quality of the artists at this location but I called inquiring about a single needle tattoo that I’ve seen on Instagram and really love. It’s a popular style but not many artists have picked up on it in this area yet. He explained with single needle the longevity of the tattoo wouldn’t there as it would with a regular tattoo needle set. I said well the longevity wasn’t necessarily an issue, it’s what I want and like. He was a snarky smart ass and then said I should just get a $.25 sticker to stick on myself then. Just be prepared to be made to feel like an idiot if the artist doesn’t think your desired tattoo or idea is up to his standards. I never leave reviews, especially bad ones but being a business owner and someone whos business runs primarily on customer service and how clients feel, I felt this review was justified as I was treated poorly and made to feel less before even stepping foot on the property. I can only imagine how he treats his customers in person! Perhaps if this artist knew what I was even talking about he wouldn’t have been embarrassed and acted like he did. Clearly not knowledgeable and very unprofessional in his field as he doesn’t even know about single needle tattoos!!!!

I got my dermal done here and it was my 2nd dermal in the same spot. Its been 4 months and it healed so well I would recommend this place to anyone! Clean, she explained in detail the process before hand and how to care for it after. Very pleased.

Had a great experience with the artist scott he gave me a great tattoo and was really friendly. I did however see the owner be very rude and disrespectfully talking to one of his female employees and made me feel very uncomfortable. I hope to return for thee great artist but I pray I dont see the owner again

Clean, friendly, and very professional! First experience ever walking into a piercing or tattoo business. My daughter had her nose pierced, they were very thorough about paperwork and procedures.

I went with my cousin to have a cancer ribbon done in honor of my grandma, this is my 4th tattoo, not my first so I know how to care for them... (although this was my first at Screaming Needle) and I will never go back. My tattoo got horribly infected, I contacted my artist after a couple days and explained how I was caring for it, and he told me and I quote Well, the ink is bacteria in your skin so if you use any kind of anti-bacterial medication youre making it worse!.....WHAT?!? Bacteria in your skin?!...NEVER again will I go there. Ever.

Got an arm tattoo and it leaked under the skin.The only solution suggested was to get a skin colored tattoo over it or change the design.Absolutely horrible. In the first go the ink should never have leaked.

The staff was wonderful, welcoming and extremely helpful. I had two piercings done. The environment was clean and sterile. The piercer was great and it didn’t really hurt too bad!

Cheap piercings but you get what you pay for. Left with a super painful double helix piercing- two months later and it was still red and angry and was keloiding. Went to another piercer who took one look at it and was appalled and the shotty work - original piercer from here used a 18 gauge needle but put 16g jewelry in. Once she switched it out the pain wasnt as bad but about 4 months later the piercing still rejected. Definitely will not ever come back. Also my ear was bleeding after the piercing and the piercer took paper towel and squeezed my ear hard telling me it was to stop the bleeding. My ear was barely bleeding and that was unnecessary.

Rude. I went in for a tongue ring. The one guy tried giving me the wrong jewelry twice & the 3rd time the threads on the one side were too small. It was obvious that ball didnt go with that post. When i asked for my money back, i was told that all jewelry sales were final. Ive gotten tattoos there in the past but i wont be back. Terrible customer service. Its too bad one manager is going to ruin it for the while place.

I’ve gone to Kevin at the Allendale location for almost of my piercings, and he’s great! He’s professional, especially when you’re getting intimidating piercings. He’s great, I don’t think I’ll ever go anywhere else as long as I live around here!

My best friend and I got our tattoos here and they turned out great! We both walked in and got each a small tattoo on our ankle from Jeff. Everything was amazing and clean and would highly recommend the artist.

Very rushed, got three piercings and was only in there for about 5 minutes. Didnt get to pick my jewelry, and I didnt have time to settle down or even look at it. As soon as I got out the door I passed out and had a small seizure. Dont recommend.

I went there and got my snake bite lip piercings on July 6th with my boyfriend. It was quick and professional. Very clean. Definetly my favorite shop in Grand Rapids for tattoos and piercings

I got my snug pierced here and then ended up in the ER with an awful infection and they said my cartilage was coming apart from my ear and that I had mushroom ear. I now have $400 in medical bills and no piercing. I only had it in for 4 days. I went to APP member Zach June at the Kitten Flower and he said my ear was pierced with improper jewelry in the improper spot. I came here to save some money and ended up spending more because of medical bills. Kevin was the man who pierced my snug and it has been documented and brought to the state for further examination.

Andrew is a good piercer but just so everyone knows not everything is going to be perfect because you flinch. Its not his fault. And tell him where you would like it to be placed he will do his best.

My double helix lasted 9 days. I went to a different salon, where I was told that the jewelry that had been used on me wasn’t really appropriate for an initial helix piercing, and both of them had come out. The holes were already mostly closed.So I’m out $50 with nothing to show for it. I will go to the other salon when it’s time to try the piercing again.

Got my septum and belly button done here on the two for Tuesday special with my cousin. The staff friendly and very clean and professional. I can’t say anything about the tattoos cause I’ve never gotten one there, but it’s a great place to get piercings.

Buyer beware. This piercer should have his certificate removed. A month ago I went in for a double nose piercing. I already had an existing hole and he took it upon himself to just make two brand new holes instead of following my request to use the original. He was just supposed to be “stretching” my existing hole so the hoop would fit, and instead shoved a BLUNT object though my nose to pierce it- Resulting In THREE holes in my nose! everything is so messed up. I could also mention how he commented many times how it was as if I was having a midlife crisis.. JERK!! I’m 33 and I’ll do what I want... NOT COOL!!!Not even a month out in one of the balls fell off of the hoop. I went back in there today and he would not even have the decency to come up and talk to me because I had my baby in there. Strapped into a stroller. Not making a peep— BUT, it WOULD be ok for me to take the baby back into his room if the babies ears were getting pierced. So please tell me how this makes any sense? I have heard many terrible things about this establishment. But chose not to believe them and find out for myself. Unfortunately I found out the hard way, and I am done with this place... so go right on ahead and go get this “special” You’re going to get what you pay for.

Laid-back but professional. Ink looks great. And I have a tattoo on a difficult location on some fragile skin. And he did a wonderful job. I would definitely recommend them.

Got my second tattoo there and they completely messed it up. The artist went way to deep with the needle to rhe point where it took two months for it to heal. Went back for a touch up to fix their mistake and they wanted to charge me another $100 to fix what they messed up in the first place. Not at all impressed with them

Just took my daughter in for her septum and nose piercing for her birthday. Andrew was very professional and made it easy for her. Thanks for the good service!

This is a terrible place. They hav you pay before the peircing which at first I thought was odd but didn’t think anything of it because the very good places I have gone to make sure you like the peircing before you pay. Well after I decided I didn’t like the earrings they had to offer because they are extremely cheap, but they wouldn’t give me my money back. So I then just let them peirce my ear... it got extremely infected and would not stop bleeding, this also happened to my friend. Not a professional place what’s so ever. Don’t be fooled by their 2 or 30 deal... not worth it.

Andrew is an amazing piercer. The wait was a little long (it was a two for Tuesday of course) but the nose and belly button piercing took like max 2 minutes and I was out.

Nice updates. However IF you know your having a great sale bringing in a receptionist would be wise! Im 100% sure you could ask for a volunteer for trade in a piercing. :)

This place is the best! Kevin did several piercings for me today and I have to say he is the best I’ve ever gone to. It was the smooth and as close to pain free as you can get.

I went here for my second tatto per recommendation and I was able to just walk in and get it done. Staff was helpful and the shop was very clean and professional. Jeff was my artist and he did an amazing job, and was able to get it done quickly. I highly recommend this shop and Jeff.

I have had several tattoos done here my last three have been done by Miss Cori. A very talented artist with a light touch. I highly recommend this is establishment and Miss Cori as your artist.

I got my traegus pierced here three months ago and experianced complications and I went to another piercer and he informed me that the piercing I received had the wrong size and the wrong kind of ring in it. I should have been given a size 16 stud but instead I was given a size 18 ring. My traegus was inflamed and bumpy for three months. I got the ring replaced with a stud elsewhere and I’m glad I did
