Love the tattoo! My tattoo artist started to tattoo before going over pricing… I was going to get it regardless of the price since I really wanted a tattoo but if pricing is an issue make sure to ask about the pricing.I have no complaints about the art,artist , or shop! I was able to get a someone in who felt comfortable with flowers and he did an amazing job and I’m obsessed!

Best tattoo shop I have been to! Ever!! My brother and I made appointments for tattoos on our last day. The shop was a little hard to find at first with it being my first time but Immediately when i walked into the shop the atmosphere changed! Everyone was so kind and it felt so comfortable! Met Kirby and Brandon! They were both so helpful and personable! The shop is super clean and well managed! I could honestly go on forever about this place but long story short both my brother as well as myself will be coming back to this shop for more every time we are on the island! Good humans, good vibes, outstanding work!

When I first contacted them, they asked all the specifics. What I wanted, where I wanted it, what size. I was able to text pictures to show my ideas. I was gently talked out of a finger tattoo (thank god). When I got there, I met Brandon M. I have been tattooed over a dozen times and he was the nicest, most thorough artist Ive ever had. The first tattoo he did was repositioned about 10 times, until we both thought it looked perfect with my existing half sleeve. He continuously asked if I was ok. Meanwhile, I was vibing with the late 90s/early 00s rap/R&B. I have never loved the vibe of a tattoo place more. The second tattoo (pictured) was on a sensitive spot, and he made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire process. The biggest disappointment I have is that I live in Tennessee and Im not sure if/when Ill ever make it back there. Brandon would absolutely be my go to tattoo guy.

I am 71 years old and took my first trip to Oahu with my wife. I decided to get a tattoo. I found Black Palette Tattoo on line. They were able to fit me in the day before we returned to Idaho. Brandon did and excellent job. He took his time on my old skin. I have had a few tattoos over the years. Without a doubt this was the best experience I have ever had!!

My second tattoo at Black Palette Tattoo. This one was created by the amazing artist Curtis. This man is beyond talented. He is stoic and deliberate in his craft and will NOT disappoint. I dropped the idea for the tattoo on him when I arrived and just hours later I was leaving with a tattoo that was more than I could have imagine. If realism is your thing don’t hesitate to let Curtis bring is to life. 10/10 all day long.Brian Allen

From the communication via the receptionist, to the artist and his skill… top tier. They’re rightfully award winning. Manuel did my wife and I’s matching tattoos, and his work was phenomenal. Our design, although simple, was the best we’ve had thus far. That’s saying something…He is light handed, and made sure my wife was comfortable as she has had painful tattoos in the past from other artists. We were in Honolulu for our honeymoon, and leaving the next day. They got us in fairly quick. I believe I contacted them 3 days prior to our tattoo date.Not to mention, he and I are birthday twins, which explains his really chill vibe. You can tell that everyone there was talented. When we come back, Manuel is the only artist we will get tatted from however, he echoed my observation stating, “everyone there is talented,” and if he’s not available, he trusts everyone there to do good work.The environment was clean, chill, and everyone went above and beyond to adhere to sanitization standards/regulations. Manuel also made good conversation, but doesn’t mind being quiet if that’s what you prefer lol. We definitely, highly recommend this shop, and definitely recommend Manuel. 5 star service for sure!

My mother and I got matching breast cancer tattoos for her 10 years of remission. Manuel took care of her since it was her first tattoo (she’s 55) he put her at ease. He did an amazing job and was very gentle with her as she was very nervous and a little emotional. We had a great time talking with him. We discovered he was from Mexico City and had a small bonding moment in Spanish as we are from Mexican decent as well. We had a wonderful experience and will be back the next time we are in Oahu!! Thank you for taking care of us!

Raquel S is a sweetie. Great to work with and fantastic with fine line. I found it best to walk-in and setup an appointment. $50 deposit is required to make appointment which is standard in tattoo studios. Cash only but they do have an ATM machine.

Super professional and friendly, clean modern shop! Havent been tattooed yet.. about to have my 5hr session with Dia R. Shes been really great and was willing to make changes and made sure I was happy with the design. I recommend a consultation and then you can bring home a piece of the island.. Im excited to have her do a meaningful tattoo for me!Update. Dia R was fantastic very good eye for detail. She went above and beyond. My tattoo is incredible! Im soooo happy with the work that was done! So friendly and easy to talk to. All the artists I met were super down to earth and genuinely friendly and fun to be around. I’m from San Francisco and always make an effort to see Raquel at Black Palette Tattoo because I love her artistry and overall good vibe! I visit this shop at least twice a year and always have a fantastic experience. The staff are all friendly and the shop is very clean.I have to emphasize how great Raquel is. She’s great at communicating and even when I have last minute requests, she works with me to make it happen. She always welcomes me at my appointments with a hug and a smile. Not only is she the sweetest human being, she’s insanely talented. I highly recommend her!

I love the place! I didn’t had much time because I had my flight back the same day and spontaneously decided to get a tattoo. They organized a really good tattoo artist for me in a few minutes since they were full. I really recommend.

My tattoo artist was Kevin, a young talent from Korea. Good, delicate (I didnt feel any pain, in fact I was about to fall asleep) and above all very precise. Highly recommended. If I ever return to Honolulu and get a tattoo, I definitely know who to go to.

I met Tiare in Los Angeles when she came to visit the city. I was lucky to have found a great woman Artist. She put her own touch to the tattoo; which I appreciate and it came out better than I expected.

The shop itself is tucked away but clean and very well kept. The staff is friendly and want to make sure you get exactly what you want. Very organized and made sure they weren’t overbooked so it didn’t feel rushed. Very talented artists and chill atmosphere. They do take walk-ins, which is what we did, but I suggest making an appointment if you have a schedule to keep. We walked in a bit after they opened and were able to get an appointment later in the afternoon. Mika did my tattoo, and she’s amazing at delicate lines. Really happy with how it turned out!

Manuel did an amazing job. Thus was almost a 10 hour tattoo. The work is exquisite. I will be back for another.

This is was my first time getting a tattoo, my artist name was Dia R. She asked what type of tattoo I had in mind, then helped me pick out a design (of a Tuttle)and what would the best fit, orientations and location I had in mind. She was great at keeping me calm because I was extremely excited at getting my first memory of Hawaii. After a good talk about after care l got to see my tattoo. I had no discomfort during or afterwards and my tattoo looks really really nice. I would definitely recommend her she is a talented artist.

Black Palette Tattoo is where I received my first (and probably last 😉) tattoo! I was on a trip with family in memory of my grandparents who were stationed in Hawaii way back when, their decision to end the trip was to all get a somewhat matching tattoo. I wasn’t going to because I didn’t see myself as a person with any. However, the FOMO hit hard. I did end up getting one. Kirby was so chill and really understanding about how I felt. My experience because of this was more pleasant than I expected.

I wanted to get a tattoo while visiting Hawaii for first time. Saw Black Palette’s photos online and reckoned they had the best line work and portfolio that I like. Texted them a day prior and they responded so fast and got me in with Kirby a day later for two pieces. Kirby was excited to work and had a super friendly attitude making the experience great. His line work and designs of what I wanted were spot on also. Hoping to visit again!

Mika H was amazing. She revived a design of orchids dedicated to my father. Mika then added her touch by adding additional orchids. It was seamless. The shading is beautiful. Mika was gentle and open to questions. I would highly recommend her. Also the young lady at the front desk was friendly and assisted me with which artist fit my request. The atmosphere in the shop is great. Nice team.

I’m changing my review to 1 star. because foolishly i did the review prior to getting ink done, so i could get free after care. that’s how they get you.Anyway! DO NOT GO HERE!! and don’t see Kevin. my tattoo i got here is probably the worst one ive ever gotten and i have like 30.. AND AND it got infected. The line work is horrible. Everything is uneven and looks unfinished. I paid $300 for something that I could have done a better job on my own and I have zero tattooing experience.so do you research? Do not go to this place if you want a good tattoo that you’re not gonna have to get fixed and or treated later on. It’s only been five days and I had to go to the hospital because of the infection

Saw this place when I was booking my first appointment months ago and the communication between me and the artist was amazing, Manuel did such a good job and was very accommodating when I asked for a slight tweak right after he started to tattoo me. Over all I cannot recommend this place fast enough to someone looking to get their first tattoo!

I absolutely adore this shop! I got a cute little lamb head piece and an adorable dainty flash done on my arm. this shop is so clean, genuinely one of the cleanest shops ive been in. the staff is so nice and welcoming. I 100% will be returning for bigger pieces. I recommend this little hidden gem to anyone looking to get some adorable / amazing work done.

To be tattooed by Milena was like being tattooed by an actual angel. From start to finish I have never been more comfortable in a tattoo shop, the paperwork process was quick but thorough. She took time making sure I loved the size and placement and then made me so comfortable while I was being tattooed I almost took a nap. Jaimee was compassionate and kind, and helped me create something I thought was absolutely perfect! She does amazing fine line and color work and doesn’t rush the process - I truly couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome! I gave her the freedom to do what she thought would look best with the colors, and her choices were awesome! Our family came to Oahu for a 18th birthday/high school graduation celebration and knew we wanted a matching family tattoo. Raquel was kind enough to do 2 of our tattoos and Jaimee did the other two! They worked with our inspiration, dealt with our crapand each delivered ABSOLUTELY STUNNING tattoos. This isn’t easy! They tattooed a 46 year old Dad, 42 year old Mom, a 20 year old daughter, and 18 year old daughter. Jaimee and Raquel came up with a design we all wanted. They tattooed us in different locations. They accommodated modified version for our 18 year old. The tattoos are not only stunning, but so meaningful. Jaimee and Raquel’s patience, kindness, precision, artistry, and skill are unmatched. My husband received his tattoo from Napua of a fine line sunset with palm tree, surfboard with our kids first letters hidden in the art. I came to Hawaii for vacation and looked up the best tattoo place near waikiki as a walk in. I was scheduled with Brandon most down to earth person I met out there. I ended up getting a stitch tattoo that Brandon did the shading free hand and it came out sick. The environment at black palette was as if being at home back in the states. Most recommended tattoo place in waikiki. A hui hou kakou and Mahalo brotha.

Clean, friendly, and professional shop! I accompanied my friend to their tattoo appointment and decided to get my helix pierced on a whim. Casey was incredibly patient and talked to me through the whole process. They ONLY use implant grade titanium jewelry. Wow they really go above and beyond what any other tattoo/piercing place Ive seen. They are very thorough here and you know youre getting the best of the best regardless of how big or small your project is. This was such a good experience. I cant wait to come back to get a tattoo one day!
