Jackalope Tattoo

Came up for a girls trip and got matching tattoos at Jackalope. We worked with Father and they were great. The space was welcoming and there are many talented artists here. If I was local I would definitely return. Thank you, Father, for a fantastic tattoo and awesome experience!

Love Jackalope! I go to see Father there, who is amazing, but all the tattoo artists there are talented. Excited to receive more art and body adornment there. Seems super well-run and I appreciate the masking policy. Its chilly in there--so bring layers

This shop is a VIBE.Friendly staff, great music, and great atmosphere with lots of cool things to look at while your artist gets set up.The place is also spotless. They take sanitation very seriously here and I’ve never seen a cleaner run shop.Cody Rose is a GENIUS with a tattoo machine and is very transparent with what you should expect in regards to the session and the healing process.I will definitely be back.P.S.: If Cody tattoos you, make sure to ask them about Jello.

This crew is simply the best! From the moment I walked in, I felt safe and welcome. I appreciated their sickness safety measures, such as requiring masks and providing hand sanitizer.Sam and I spent almost an hour tweaking tiny details on my tattoo design and placement, and she never made me feel rushed or annoying. I was nervous to get a full color tattoo since I have darker skin, but Sam has lots of experience with POC skin all over her insta, so I knew I was in good hands!She is a great conversationalist with lots of knowledge to share, and respected when I wanted to pop in my headphones and zone out for a while.Overall the environment is great, my tattoo is AMAZING, and I look forward to coming back someday!

Ive been getting tattooed by M for 10 years now and have always been absolutely blown away by their skill. They are extremely kind and welcoming & I have always felt safe & comfortable in their shop and chair. As a queer, disabled, neurodivergent woman that can sometimes be hard to come by. The environment is very chill and DAMN do the tattoos look good. Highly highly recommend!!

Killer atmosphere and awesome staff (full of cat lovers) lead to an amazing experience. Came in for a tattoo with Lauren (@latebloomertattosmn) who is a super talented artist! My friend and I both came in with a general prompt and they came up with creative and really lovely drawings for them. The tattoo and aftercare experiences were great and our tattoos healed very nicely. The bedside convos were hella fun as well. Super cool AND talented people? 10/10 would recommend

I found Lauren (@latebloomertattoosmn, she/they) through Jackalope’s Instagram page and immediately fell in love with her style and artistry! I knew that they would be the perfect person to do my next tattoo and I was so right. I came in for a free consultation to craft my tattoo with Lauren and they made me feel so heard, respected, and validated. I’ve been to several tattoo shops and I have never had a place feel as safe and welcoming as Jackalope. I am SO happy with my tattoo. It looks so beautiful and the whole process was so seamless and fun! As a queer person, I walked in and immediately felt at home there.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. I am in town fromBirmingham, AL. I chose this shop because of its mission and values - I knew I’d feel safe here. I worked with Lauren, who is a gem of a human being and an extraordinary artist. I had the honor of getting her artwork in the form of a birth flower bouquet to honor my family - it is more perfect than I could have ever imagined. My sister and I got semi-matching tattoos done today with Lauren and it was such a great experience! Ive been getting tattoos since 1990 and this is hands down the best experience Ive ever had. Danni is an amazing artist. The whole vibe of the shop is so incredible, I felt so comfortable and well cared for.

I had such an awesome experience at Jackalope! My artist, Father, was extremely communicative in the days leading up to my tattoo appointment. Upon arrival, the person who greeted me (unfortunately i cant recall their name) was so so friendly and welcoming. Father was so detail oriented and spent so much extra time making sure every aspect of my tattoo was incredible and exactly what i wanted. I am SO happy with it, I dont think Father could have done a better tattoo for me. They were also such a joy to conversate with during my session. This shop is super clean too! Overall a 11/10 experience. I will definitely be back for my next one!

Bay was the kindest, sweetest, and most genuine artist I have ever met. They were extremely attentive to detail and did not rush through my appointment like it was just another tattoo to get done.They made conversation with me the entire time and it didnt feel forced or uncomfortable. They sent me the artwork the night before to make sure they were sketching what I had in mind.The shop as a whole was the cleanest and most welcoming shop I have ever been to or even walked past. All of the staff was welcoming, kind, and knowledgeable. You can tell they love what they do.

Nichelle started my travel tattoo in 2015. In 2017, we are still adding to it. She has creatively tattood over a dozen pics I have taken all over the world on my arm. Her artistic ability is beyond amazing! And shes funny! Bonus! ;)

I have gotten the pleasure of being tattooed by M twice and have love each time. The art work they come up with is mind blowing! All the artists are so sweet and friendly and go above and beyond to make sure your visit is comfortable and fun. Highly recommend booking with any of these amazing artists!

I had first emailed Lauren to book (my first ever) tattoo on January 2. She did not end up replying again until February 5. I asked her to create a design for me in a style that I had seen on their Instagram. Though I didnt love the original design that they sent back, I told them what I would prefer changed, and they acknowledged this. We set an appointment for March 1. When I arrived, they had not completed the new design, and tried to tell me that they didnt know that I had requested any changes, despite their email confirmation that she would make them. After making me wait 45 minutes, they came back and said that they werent rocking with the design and cancelled my appointment. I understand not wanting to tattoo outside of their typical style, but given that they had a work in that style on their Instagram and they had already confirmed that they were going to update the design into that style, it was extremely disappointing. Im sure the other artists at the studio are really talented, but this experience has put a bad light on the studio as a whole to me.

Hands down one of the BEST experiences I have EVER had with getting a tattoo- from the front desk greeting me and walking me through the process to seeing the cutest little Axolotl in the waiting area! You def need to go see BOBBI!!! Immaculate techniques, work and VIBES! Everyone here created seriously the most amazing experience! Can’t thank you all enough.

I went to Jackalope Tattoo for my first tattoo and Katie was my tattoo artist. I am a technical person who likes to feel prepared for anything I get myself into. I did a lot of research to identify which place would offer a comfortable environment and which artist would be best suited to help me design my tattoo. I scheduled my appointment 2 months out. At the consultation, I received the impression that she would be sending me sketches here and there as she thought of possible designs and then I’d be able to give her feedback on what I liked and disliked. I liked the idea of being a part of the design process. She didn’t respond to my email that I had sent a month before the appointment inquiring when I’d get designs. The appointment date that I had recorded had been miscommunicated somehow. I got three designs 6 days before the appointment that weren’t at the level of development artistically or conceptually that I had been expecting from someone with an art background who said that they were familiar with Art Nouveau. I responded with lots of feedback. The day before my appointment I hadnt received any new designs so I became nervous and designed my tattoo myself. She said she loved it and would create the stencil for it.At the appointment she said that concerning Art Nouveau her experience was drawing the female element and not the architectural elements like what I had drawn. Everything that I had shown her regarding what I was envisioning was architectural with no females present. I think she should have directed me elsewhere to someone who could create the architectural design I had requested. In the end, she did a really good job at translating my design onto my skin and was very fun to talk to during the tattoo process but, I was not pleased with the design process of my tattoo. She gave me an amazing deal on my tattoo considering that it was colorful and took 3.5 hours to complete. I think the price was to compensate for the frustrating design process. So, to those who are technically minded and like to have lots of correspondence and preparation for things, I’d keep my experience in mind and reschedule if you feel uncomfortable with the design process and timeline. If I hadnt had an art background and hadnt come up with a design I liked by myself, I would have cancelled my appointment. I will say that the space was very clean and comfortable with friendly staff.

I felt super safe and supported while in the shop getting my tattoo. Not just by my tattoo artist (Father who also did an amazing job) but by all the staff that I interacted with. I felt very supported in my identity as well, so to any other queer people I definitely recommended this shop

I have 5 tattoos from different​ places and Jackalope is by far and away the best!!! The work is impeccable and the service, amazing! I waited 6 months for my appointment and it was 100% worth it. Nichelle is spectacular... Super talented and easy to work with. I provided 8 reference pics and she took the things I liked from each and created a masterpiece. I could not be more satisfied!

I got a tattoo from Tiana. First of all, I love the art. Second, they were very professional. Third, the pain level was very low as compared with similarly situated tattoos on my other arm. I would recommend them in a heartbeat.

Katie did a tattoo for me last night and the experience and work is out of this world. They did some of the best detailing and shading I’ve seen. I’m obsessed with the work they did for me. Jackalope tattoo is the best of the best. I had been researching tattoo artists that can do fine line, minimalist floral tattoos and found a few artists at Jackalope that love doing that kind of work. Due to scheduling and high demand, I had to wait a bit to get on the books but it was totally worth it. Based on word of mouth from people I know and other reviews, I knew that I would feel comfortable and that this would be the shop for me. Every single person I encountered in my experience was so so kind, professional, and inclusive. The artist that did my tattoo, Tiana, was amazing! They are so talented and artistic, but they also worked to make sure so felt safe, secure, and comfortable during my whole experience. My tattoo came out better than I could have ever imagined! I have gotten so many compliments and questions about where I got my tattoo. I cannot recommend Jackalope and their artists enough! It’s the only place I’ll ever go for a tattoo!

To say this place is amazing would be an understatement! The environment is clean, well lit, and calming. The artists and staff are so kind and welcoming, I felt like I was at home. I got my first piece from this shop today with Joslin and I have found my forever artist. She went above and beyond from start to finish, and took extra time to make sure that every little detail and the placement were perfect from every angle. Her talent, genuine spirit and love for her craft made every part of this experience unforgettable.

Katie did a beautiful watercolor-inspired piece for me. We talked for a few minutes about the vision I had and she drew up something way more beautiful than I could even imagine! I love my tattoo and get tons of compliments on it. The shop is also the most welcoming, friendly tattoo environment I have ever experienced. In other shops I have felt like “that girl,” with no excitement for my tattoo or my experience. This was totally different, with artists talking to each other and sharing their work, and inviting me to participate in the conversation. I had a good experience for my first visit to Jackalope. My artist was Nora, and they did a great job with a memorial piece I had. I felt realxed in the shop as it had a calm atmosphere. I plan on coming back once I acquire extra funds for more tattoos.Everyone in the shop was also polite and friendly. (kudos to asking for pronouns on the intake forms!)

Jackalope Tattoo is by far one, if not the, best shop in the Twin Cities. I got a tattoo with Nora and absolutely love it. I gave her some ideas of what I liked and she drew up something better than I imagined. I found it worth the wait to get in to see her. The shop is clean and it was nice they have individual spaces so I felt very cozy when she was working on me. Nora was speedy on communication via email.

Ive gone to Jackalope since they opened at their original location. Ive worked with three of their artists and all have been wonderful. They offer amazing work in an inclusive space making for a fantastic experience. Highly would recommend, its definitely worth waiting for their books to open.

Ive been coming here for almost a year now and working specifically with Jacoba. The artwork she has and is doing on me is amazing and better then I could have hoped for. Another great thing about her is she isnt afraid to tell you if she thinks someone else would do better work for what you (the customer) is wanting out on your body. I love that if she doesnt feel comfortable with the artwork that is being asked for she is very willing to direct you to someone she thinks is gonna give you a better tattoo. That right there shows that she is more concerned about the artwork rather then making a quick buck.So I recommend stopping into the place and seeing if her or any of the other amazingly talented women would work out for the style of tattoo you are wanting and get some amazing artwork done on you like I am continuing with them to do.

2021 edit: Updated Amo’s pronouns in my review and adding that I’ve continued to be tattooed by them and my original review still stands - Jackalope is a clean, comfortable space with incredible artists. I still haven’t gone to anyone but Amo for my tattoos and having added a number of them since my first review I couldn’t be happier. Highly recommend this shop and all of the artists to anyone!I love Jackalope! I went to Amo a couple years back , hoping to finally get an artist that I really liked as I continued to get tattoos, and Ive found that with Amo! I decided to go to them for my big piece, a thigh tattoo in honor of my grandpa, and one I had been waiting a long time to get because I wanted to have 100% trust in an artist. It turned out better than I couldve ever hoped for. The next day when I took off the protective layer and I got to look at it again, I ended up getting emotional, it was so perfect. He wouldve loved it. Im going back for my third tattoo with Amo and bringing in my mom for her first - Ill never go to anyone else or go to another shop!Overall, the shop is clean, everyone is friendly, and its a really nice environment to get tattooed in. I have always felt incredibly comfortable! I recommend Jackalope to anyone getting a tattoo!

I have been tattooed numerous times here and also brought my children (once they turned 18) here. EVERY. SINGLE. ARTIST is beyond kind, talented, creative, passionate, funny, welcoming and make you feel like you are part of their family. And these wonderful artists are absolutely family.One of the things I like the most about them is that they do make sure EVERYONE feels comfortable in their shop so if someone is trying to intimidate anyone, client or artist, they are shown the door. Its a wonderful, accepting place to be. HIGHLY recommend.

My sisters and I were referred to Jackalope Tattoo by a friend. Emi consulted with us on our shared and individual ideas and came up with a beautiful piece that the three of us got on our left forearms. These tattoos are visible to everyone, all the time, so we wanted them to be simple, tastefull, and easy to read. We got what we wanted and more. Everyone at Jackalope was welcoming, helpful, and entertaining. The space is clean and well organized. The environment is comfortable and inviting. We had a wonderful experience, and so will you.

Bambi was great to work with and a fantastic artist as well. I wanted two snarling wolf heads on my chest facing one another, one of them needed to cover up a jail house tattoo that was 20 years old. They turned out great and I couldnt be happier. Bambi absolutely nailed it. The shop itself is very clean with a great atmosphere. All the ladies at Jackalope are fantastic and the work they do is just beautiful. I highly recommend this shop to anyone that asks.

Emi did a great job on my knuckle tattoos. Clean, Professional, Nice, and really great at making me feel comfortable. I have one really personal tattoo in the future and I definitely plan on consulting them first because their level of caring is above most.

Great place, everyone is respectful and polite. After experiencing some other places tell me what ideas they had for my tattoo, I sought a place that would hold themselves to a higher level of etiquette and professionalism. Hands down the best tattoo shop in Minnesota. Incredible artists, locally owned and operated. Clean, cool, and comfortable. I would recommend this first and foremost above all other shops in the twin cities. The artists are all masters of their crafts. If youre getting a sleeve, your first tattoo, a cover up, anything, this is the place to go. If your imagination can dream up an idea, they can put it to skin.

These ladies know what theyre doing. Theyre serious and passionate about tattooing. I love listening to all their shop talk. Ive gotten two huge beautiful tattoos from Amo, one my own art, one a custom, and I will always put up with the wait to come here. Only reason I knocked a star off is because these ladies are all awesome friends and sometimes I felt like I was the awkward kid at their house party.

I havent been tattooed here at Jackalope yet but Im getting my first tattoo done here by Katie. I have my first consultation with her on Halloween this year and Im beyond excited. Im 31 yes 31 and no tattoos but Ive taken some serious time to figure out what I want my first tattoo to be and Ive chosen to come to Jackalope because they have such amazing artists and from what I heard its the best tattoo shop around. Ive heard every artist here is amazing and I dont doubt that. But Im ever so excited to work with katie as her work from what Ive seen is spectacular. And I hope to make katie my only tattoo artist I go to.

I just did the consultation for this visit so maybe Ill be able to give another one in a couple months if google suggests I review it again. Katie was super awesome, she seemed excited with me, I really think were on the same page for what I want done and what she will do. She was thorough on explaining the process. Its really funny walking into the shop and seeing that half the artists are gardeners.Hopefully Ill give another update soon

Clean, friendly, women-based environment but everyone is welcome. Reasonable prices for the quality of tattoo you get. Visit heir website for more info and they usually are pretty good with follow-ups. Walk-ins are in luck basis, but they do offer a special day (I think monthly) for walk-ins.

Ive been to several artists over the years but have never felt as comfortable, safe and taken care of as much as I do when I visit Jackalope. Emi is who Ive seen each time going and I never fail to be impressed with their work and professionalism.

Thos tattoo shop is THE most inclusive and friendly shop I have ever worked with!!! They listen to your ideas and bring them to life and are patient in the process! The talent alone should be a draw but the atmosphere of kindness is such a bonus I want more time just to bring more ideas to life!!!

Amanda is so wonderful and talented, they made the process easy, fun, and time just flew by. The environment is beautiful and welcoming - I strongly recommend coming here for your tattoos!

I made the mistake of going to another studio to get a tattoo. Luckily Jessie was able to work her magic and bring it all together into the tattoo I was originally hoping for. The vibe here is welcoming, friendly and all free of the typical tattoo ego or tattitude. Ive had work from Jessie in the past and can confidently say you wont be disappointed by her work. I wont go anywhere else for my ink.

Ive gotten my first tattoo (and second) done here and both came out so beautiful. Amo and Nichelle were very professional and just so talented throughout the whole process. I have zero regrets on the the designs and their executions by their respective artists. The actual tattoo parlor is very clean and was so beautiful with all plants pre-Covid19. Post Covid-19 is still just as clean (if not more). Theyre really taking all the precautions necessary to keep customers and artists safe.

My husband got a tattoo with Amo, her work was excellent. She did an amazing job of using the sample illustrations amd combining it with his ideas and what works well with having the tattoo stand out. Cant wait to get mine done there!

I wish I could rate them as they were my first choice to get my first tattoo at. It was a tattoo to honor someone very special to me- and I was so excited I would have done it the day I walked into the shop. The front desk representative was very nice to talk with, she encouraged me to email a certain artist. I did right away.Unfortunately, the tattoo artist told me that my design would not reflect her portfolio so she would not take me as a client. This left me super disappointed and feeling very disregarded. At least the front desk representative (who looked at my idea) could have informed me that it would not be taken - I would have then understood. But unless your tattoo will be (quote from the artist) mostly painterly, large scale work... then either go to one of their walk in days where you can get something quick or find somewhere else.

Absolutely fantastic tattoo shop! Ive come here and worked with Katie on two tattoos now and I felt much more comfortable in this shop than ones Ive previously visited. Excellent art and even more excellent people!

I got my tattoo from Dahlia—her art is beyond awesome, she was super nice, communicative about what she was doing at all times, and in general just made the tattooing process comfortable and safe!

I’ve gotten most of my tattoos done here for a reason. The quality of work is unparalleled at this shop. I’m talking like one ring type quality, their tattoos are so good that the fate of Middle Earth could hang in the balance type quality.Each artist has their own style and is very upfront and open about what that style is, which is so cool. They will refer you to someone who may be a better fit for your design, which shows hella integrity instead of just taking on whatever to make money doing it. That’s some Mother Theresa level integrity there fam.The shop is so clean I would be okay having a surgery done on their floor, it’s literally that clean.My most recent tattoo was done by Katie, and holy mother of god did she blow my mind. I was basically like “hey 1 tattoo pls” and Katie created the most amazing piece for my leg. Like I will never have eyebrows as good as the badass Greek goddess on my leg.Do you guys understand how talented people have to be for you to want them to do art on you with high speed ink magic needle pens? Like I’m willingly paying them to stab me, but making it art. That’s some talent there.ALSO they are easily the most inclusive and socially aware establishment I have been in. They make a point to ask about pronouns and create an atmosphere that people and truly be seen as who they are. I found my favorite artist Jocoba here, and after hearing my dream, she brought it to life!.. And it was far better than I imagined!I look at my arm all day, every day and I cant believe that you can tattoo like this? Its friggin magic to me and I couldnt be happier.Plus, while Im there, everyone is such a tight family there its so entertaining how everyone opens up and gets so real.Everyone Ive meet there has such distinct styles and personalities... So happy they have relocated to a larger space -- they needed it! Female owned, female operated, all female artists. I am heavily tattooed so Ive spent over 2000 hours of my life in five other Minneapolis tattoo shops. Unlike the other shops, at Jackalope there is ZERO toxic masculinity, sexual harassment, or other artists ogling my exposed body while Im being tattooed (under the guise of checking out the tattoo. My artist, Katie Kroek, is a consummate professional: always on time and ready to tattoo. Ive never had to wait around an hour after my appt. start time while she sets up, socializes etc. (Something I was beginning to think was an expected part of tattoo appts.) I am very happy to have discovered Katie and Jackalope. Also, keep in mind that for as much bad behavior I have seen from tattoo artists, Ive seen more customers treating the artists poorly and disrespectfully. Be a good customer! If you dont know how to be a respectful tattoo customer, Google it!

This by far is the best tattoo shop in the Twin Cities. When I was looking for my first ink, I went to the “busy place” where you walk in the door and you look at some wall art, then thrown in a chair and an hour or so later, you walk out with the standard tattoo. After this experience, I was very fortunate to meet Emi, through a mutual friend. Emi took the time to get to know me, and what I was looking for. Then Emi went to work, coming up with different conceptual renderings of the tattoo, and then working with me, to personalize and realize my vision. These are true artists who excel in their crafts at Jackalope Tattoo. The wait is worth it. As I am looking forward to my eleventh tattoo and a lifetime client.

Had a consult and felt like I could have used a little more enthusiasm about talking about my ideas. Im not an artist and I felt like I needed to have a fully laid out idea. From my friends experience, many places really like to be part of the design process. Didnt feel like it here.

Katie was incredible! This was my first tattoo and I decided to get it on my rib. Painful! She did a great job keeping me comfortable and distracted, and was incredibly fast without sacrificing quality.

Got a small tattoo from a while back, not my first tattoo, anyways she is by far the best tattoo artist I have come across, Jackalope is the way to go. I also have a tattoo from her when she was at another location in white bear lake, always quality work for Emi and her Jackalope crew.

I have 4 tattoos from Emi and am so happy with how they turned out. Emi has a way of hearing what you want and making it happen! They are extremely talented, caring, and make it a very safe and inclusive environment. Emi went above and beyond with my memory tattoo for my brother that had passed away just days before, I’m so grateful.

Jackalope holds a place deep in my heart for many reasons. However the piece of work I have on my back done by the late Mo Richard, is a most cherished piece of art.I have watched Jackalope grow through the years. I am proud of the integrity of the manager in standing firm with the values that they want the community they associate with to have. It is imperative that we remain silent no more, for those who are offended by being called out for using derogatory terms, please get used to it. Tolerance for this behavior is less and less.Bravo Emi for standing up for what is right!!!

Horrible experience with Jacoba, do not see her as your tattoo artist. Milked the time to do my tattoo for more money. Argued with me as what I told her did not look proportionate to the size of the human body. Would not give my promised free touch up 6 months down the line.
