My tattoo artist was Lindsay and she did a beautiful job. This was a memorial tattoo and meant a lot to me, she handled the design and process better than I could have hoped for. I loved the entire process, she was so attentive and kind, I felt so comfortable. I highly recommend her and I will definitely keep her in high regard for future projects. Her work on Instagram is beautiful, plenty of updates on there.

Highly highly recommended. Jeff and the staff at Uptown Tattoo are the best.Jeffs talent and work are incredible. Jeff is careful and meticulous (something you obviously want with a permanent tattoo) and takes great care, even with the simplest of designs or even text. In my case, Jeff did some initial work on my right arm at an event held at the shop, and it went so well that I came back a few weeks later for a similar one on my left.Its not to say that the artists that did my prior work werent any good, just that Jeffs work was better, for many reasons.First, Jeff took great care and time to align the two tats so that they matched on each arm and were in sync with each other. Jeff knows just what pressure to use so that the inking is well done without any additional pain.Best of all, Jeff is simply an awesome human being. Friendly, nice, outgoing, and professional.If this is your first time getting inked or then next on a walking canvas, Jeff is who you want putting that permanent person statement on your most precious possession, your bod.Quality work and fair prices. I’ve been going there for over 10 years and have always gotten a referable experience through every stage of the tattoo. There may be other places in Minneapolis to get tatted, but Uptown Tattoo should be at the top of your list if you’re looking for a world class tattooing experience.

I could not have asked for a better experience for my first tattoo! I did the Friday walk-in and Jeff was the artist I worked with. He was professional, helpful, and did top notch work. The shop is clean and bright and everyone was friendly. Highly recommend - I’ll be coming back in the future!

Jeff @ Uptown Tattoo was fantastic! He worked with me to get the placement of the tattoo and the custom ink colors just perfect. The shop was welcoming, clean, entertaining. Excellent past work displayed along the walls. Conveniently located atop a coffee shop, too.I did the Friday walk-in and they had no problem with me waiting onsite. It was a much shorter than anticipated wait time, which was a win.Already booked a sesh for August to get my next piece.

I spent days going over reviews of different shops\artists and their work.I finally went to Uptown Tattoo and realized how much time I wasted. Other shops might have 1-2 great artists - this place has 7 (I think thats right). Everyone here does great work. Which artist you choose depends on what style you are looking for. New remodel is great - place is clean and welcoming. Everyone from the desk to the artists were professional and really cool. Thanks to Dan for my first large ink! Great work - great conversation!

Nic the owner does all my tats. High quality work done under surgical clean conditions. Nic is not only an amazing creative talent but has a professional work ethic and a fabulous and fun personality. I can’t say enough good things about Nic Skrade personally and professionally.

Great place to go! My friend and I were both on the Saturday walk-in list and Nic was the artist for both of us! Very welcoming, clean, and comfortable environment. The women at the desk is very helpful and kind, and Nic was a great artist! It was my first tattoo and he was really good about talking me through everything and helping make sure my design would look good! I would definitely go back and recommend!

Chris did mine and my daughters tats. They turned out great. I wanted a 3-D effect in a butterfly tat and Chris had no problem with my requests. Very clean, and chill yet professional shop. I would definitely recommend Chris N. And uptown tattoo!

Dan is fiercely dedicated to the craft. His line work, sculptural work (making images look like they have dimension), and ability to take your style and meld it with his to make it a beautiful piece of art is really impressive. Also hes just a down right good human. Highly recommend.

GO HERE! Dan is the guy I went to to fix my tattoo I had done somewhere else and he is amazing. I have no other words for it. I always recommend him to my friends and anyone who will listen. I love this guy. Really check out his work for sure. You definitely get what you pay for here and the work is fantastic.

Been coming to Uptown Tattoo for 21 years now. While there are a lot of great tat shops around the metro, no one matches Nic and his team when it comes to the most artistic, most detail oriented artists around. Super clean shop, Covid-aware, so no worries there. Make an appointment now, itll be months before you get in, but always worth the wait.

Very clean and professional tattoo parlor. Lots of experience with the artist who definitely put in time and effort with each tattoo they do. Dan did great work on mine and my friends tattoo and was very engaging while completely our tattoos.

So I should start by saying that uptown tattoo has a great reputation and that’s why I chose to go there for a new piece. However my experience differs from that of little. Dan Kytola is who I choose to do my work. The first time I went I had to wait about two hours while he finished drawing my peace which I thought was a little strange but wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt so I looked passed it. Outline went OK healed nicely I thought OK this is gonna be good. Second time I went waited an hour and a half to two hours again because he was finishing another tattoo. This time it didn’t really go as well this was the shading and coloring of a portion of my tattoo and he was very heavy-handed and it was quite uncomfortable. I should let you know that I have a good amount of tattoos I have healed many tattoos this tattoo however did not heal very well. It had issues from the jump it seeped sebum for 3 to 4 days after the crusty were much more intense and the lower part of my arm-not around the tattoo- swelled up to double the size of my arm leading me to go to the emergency room being afraid my tattoo was infected or something horrible was going on. I went to some other tattoo shops in the Minneapolis area and had them look at my tattoo and they all said that the guy must have been too heavy handed and gone over the same areas more than once. It’s been almost a month and it’s still not healed properly in those areas I hope it eventually does but I have a feeling it won’t. At this point I did not want to go back to him I didn’t feel comfortable I did not want more of my arm scarred but I wanted to have him look at it and see what he said. So I went in for my next appointment he came up to me at looked at it and totally brushed it off like oh it’s nothing it’s going to heal and talked to me for about two minutes tops then proceeded to tell me that He was going to tattoo his other client until he tapped out and this was already 40 minutes past my time. I thought about it and I decided to go with my gut and to leave and to have someone else finish my tattoo. Needless to say I’m very disappointed in my experience with uptown tattoo and Dan I found him extremely unprofessional and lacked care for my time or the health of my skin. Now I can say that the other artists around seemed like they were very professional and on time with their clients appointments as I sat there for hours as they were immediately taken back and taken care of so I’m only speaking of Dan. I don’t like writing bad reviews and when I went to other tattoo artist to ask them about mine I never told them who did my work but I feel like people should know because sometimes the shop having a really good reputation just isn’t enough.

Nic is an awesome artist, very detailed and patient. I will provide him with pictures and some ideas, he will convert them to awesome tattoos adding his personal flair so each tattoo is unique. I started with one piece and now on #5....6... Uptown Tattoo is very clean and comforting!!!

Hands down the best tattoo parlor in the Twin Cities. I went to more than 5 of the best rated shops, and eventually ended up here. It should have been my first choice. The manager tried his best to fit me in even though I had a very tight schedule, and ended getting my tattoo done with Nic. After 5 hours of a pleasant chat, the tattoo was done. Finely detailed, way better than I expected. And it ended being a lot cheaper than what every other tattoo shop estimated. Fair warning though, there will be a long waiting time since they are booked months ahead. But if you are thinking a tattoo for the rest of your life, you might as well wait a little longer and get it done by the best.

I have been going to Brandon to get all of my tattoo work for 10 years now. I made the mistake of going somewhere else for a piece and it is leaps and bounds behind in quality.Everyone Ive ever encountered at the shop has been super friendly. The price is actually rather comparable to other shops and the quality of art is the best Ive seen anywhere in the cities.

This is THE place for quality work! I chose Jeff Marek for a full color Rainbow lorikeet. Session 1 was over 3 hours. Session 2 was perhaps an hour and a half. Session 3 found Jeff dissatisfied with the way the colors set and he spent 2 hours touching up the work. He charged $0. Round 4 should finish the tattoo in about a month. Jeff is a skilled sketch artist and fantastic tattooer. His work and work ethic is top shelf. This is a great place with excellent artists who do fantastic work!

I saw Nori on extremely short notice and he was so kind and understanding. He was so great with the whole process. Also I literally just looked at his Instagram and JESUS all of his work is ICONIC!! I for sure am going to try to get into his books :)

I had a great experience as a walk in getting my first tattoo. The artist took my template and made it perfect. I posted a picture on pinterest and it is a top search and is constantly repinned. Atmosphere was comfortable, especially since I was nervous!I dropped a star because it was so incredibly busy (a good thing, proves they are legit!) but it felt like the artists were timed and penalized for taking the time they needed on the walk ins. The tattoo area was also very open and had lots of people traffic moving past so it was hard to stay grounded. I know there has been a remodel since i was there

I have been getting tattooed here for 12 years, and I keep coming back because all of the artists at uptown tattoo contribute to an atmosphere that puts a focus on top-notch artistry and customer service. In all the years that I have been collecting tattoos, I have not seen another shop that consistently produces the same level and volume of high-quality tattoos as Uptown Tattoo. I am an avid tattoo fan and collector, and Uptown Tattoo is the only shop I recommend to people interested in getting a tattoo. The only way to get the tattoo you really want in the twin cities is to go to Uptown Tattoo.

Nic did a cover for me and I love it! I get so many complements. He has a great personality, artistically talented and made the experience wonderful. I highly recommend him!

I was very interested in getting a tattoo here, went into the shop just to see if I could get set up a consultation for a later date, but was left standing around while painfully being avoided with eye contact to help. Figured they may just be super busy, so I left and sent an email, I got through the initial email, and now havent heard back. Setting something up is a struggle.

Dan did a great job! Made sure his work was perfect and placed perfect before tattooing. I will be back even though I live in Des Moines, IA.

Missing food from order! This happens ALL the time at this location. It has significantly gone downhill over the past years. And dont even bother trying to call a manager about your food missing. Theyll just tell you to drive all the way back and pick up your missing item, completely starting the purpose when youre in a hurry to be somewhere. We dont eat fat foods because we like it...its just a necessity!
