I’ve gotten two tattoos now from Ryan, and so has my husband and they have turned out so amazing!!! He is a true artist. If you share your vision with him, he knows exactly how to make it come alive in a unique way! He will let you know what is going to look the best, and he will put 100% of his best effort behind it. Seriously, such amazing work!

I wanted to give a special shoutout to Ryan at Hero’s and Ghosts! He was very friendly, fun & down to earth and the overall atmosphere of the shop was very welcoming and diverse. If you’re in town I recommend coming to this shop and PLEASE see Ryan M. As someone who’s been discouraged to get color/traditional tattoos because I have darker/brown skin finding artists who tattoo on darker skin has been quite difficult. Ryan educated me on what colors would pop best on my skin and my tattoo came out very vibrant and perfect! I’ll be back for sure!

My friend recommended the artist Ryan Machado to me and he did not disappoint! Not only did he design a tattoo for me after I had told him what I wanted, but he also gave me suggestions and ideas to make the tattoo look even better. He was also super chill and was like talking to a friend I had known for a while! 10/10 recommend.

To start this off I want to say that I cannot recommend this place enough. I went in today as a walk-in looking to get some shading done on a tattoo I had gotten done recently and ended up walking out with some shading on the tattoo as well as a whole new tattoo. Ryan was my artist today and I couldnt have asked for a better artist. He made the entire process really easy for me and was really open and transparent with me which I really appreciated since this was only my third tattoo and second time going to a shop by myself. The tattoo itself was insanely fast, easy, and painless. I got a pre-drawn flower done on the back on my arm and it genuinely looks incredible. The studio was very clean and had a super chill atmosphere. Ryan made conversation with me and it didnt feel awkward at all which made the whole thing a lot easier for me as well. On top of all of this, Heroes and Ghosts piercer Joey is also amazing! I discovered the tattoo shop through going to Joey to get my left nostril and helix pierced and I can not say it enough that it was so quick I did not feel a single thing but some quick slight pressure. From the time he started the first piercing and finished the next only maybe 15 minutes had gone by. It was all very sterile and sanitary and he goes out of his way to prove that as well. This studio is just overall filled with incredible people who are amazing at what they do!

I had a very good experience here. My girlfriend and I were looking to get a small tattoo done and every tattoo place we visited yesterday had some issue. Everyone was friendly here and explained things clearly.Will, the tattoo artist did a beautiful job. I am so excited with my new tattoo. Looking forward to go back for tattoos in the future.

My friend and I got our ears pierced as walk ins today and we had the absolute best experience. From the moment we walked in, we had excellent service. The person at the front desk (I didn’t get their name) was so kind and knowledgeable about the jewelry and answered our many questions about the jewelry with patience and care. Our piercer was Joey and he was FANTASTIC. He was so kind, calm, and friendly, we both immediately felt comfortable and ready for our piercings. Cannot recommend them enough. Y’all killed it! Getting tattooed here by Ryan Machado was a great overall tattooing experience 🙏🏼His positivity and attention to detail was phenomenal. In the past I’ve been to shops and worked with folks who were cold, intimidating, and just led to an uncomfortable experience. Not at this shop with Ryan! Incredible tattooer and great shop 🙏🏼

I went go Heros and Ghosts yesterday to find a new tattoo shop since I just moved from FL. The guy standing at the counted was very friendly but when I started showing him the work that my husband and I need continued and asked questions. Most of the answers were they cant do it. They cant do realism and they wont do a background that is floral on a half sleeve. They only do gray work apparently. He handed me the owners card to speak to him but the work I need done needs to be done by a place that doesnt say they can only do limited type work. Personal opinion if a tattoo shop doesnt have someone that can do realism then it isnt a good tattoo shop. Good luck to heros and ghosts but maybe get better artists that can do the work.

I had a great experience with Conroy on Saturday. He did a memorial tattoo for me that I was really nervous about. He communicated every step to me, even all the aftercare instructions. I would definitely recommend him to others.

Great experience coordinating and receiving a tattoo from Ryan. He was open to adding a customization to a tattoo from his flash book and did an amazing job on it. During the tattoo, he was very professional, friendly, and welcoming. Id definitely recommend him to a friend. The shop itself was inviting and clean.

Recommended by a friend to purchase body jewelry. The person was so unhelpful, saying that piercing starter should stay in forever and not to be changed out? Very condescending and snobbish. Had tattoos and piercings done before, the community of both has been very friendly and unassuming. Do not recommend this establishment.

I had my helix pierced by Joey about 7 months ago (my first piercing other than earlobes). My piercing is fully healed now and I had a great experience with Heroes and Ghosts every step of the way. I went back three times since the initial piercing to have it checked and have the jewelry downsized and I was never made to feel like I was asking for too much. I would definitely recommend Heroes and Ghosts, especially for a more complicated piercing.

We had the most incredible first tattoo experience this weekend with Ryan Machado at Heroes and Ghosts. My wife and I (just married the day before) were walk-ins, just looking to commemorate this amazing weekend with some tattoos. Abby, at the front desk, greeted us with a huge smile as we told her about our special day and we told her we wanted our favorite flowers on our legs.Ryan walked out from the back, and with a massive smile on his face saying, “I’ll do it!” And it was absolute kismet. He told us how he had been looking to tattoo some flowers and had drawn some similar mock-ups in the days prior. We told him about our personal struggles getting to our special day and our gratitude for being there and Ryan had tears in his eyes.From then on, we were made incredibly comfortable, felt incredibly welcomed, and had another amazing experience to cap off an already amazing weekend. We shared a lot of great stories and personal details that made our first tattoo experience (something often scary for people) one that was therapeutic…if not incredibly relaxing. We felt we truly grew through the experience and got to know Ryan as if we had known him our whole lives.On top of that, Ryan’s art is wonderful. He was willing to try new things while still maintaining impeccable classic styling with his line work and shading. As soon was we each got up from the bench, we both were in love with our new ink. On top of that, we made a new friend in the process. My fiancée and I called in for a couples tattoo session and we were referred to Daryl for the styles we wanted.He worked with our schedule and gave us fantastic rates, and his needlework was superb. It was my first tattoo experience and Daryl made us feel welcome and at ease from start to finish. His line work is clean and crisp, and he got us in and out in under 2 hours. Will 100% come back in the future!

Excellent customer service and love that you do not have a consultation before hand. Easy to sign up just email staff using website and they will promptly respond and send an appointment link and ask for a sample photo of what you want. They were booked until July and my tattoo was definitely more detailed than I realized for walk in. Rod did an excellent job guiding me through the process. He had a sketch ready for me and asked if I wanted to change anything. It was perfect so of course I didn’t want to change the design :)After the initial review of the sketch he stenciled the design onto my shoulder (picture 1) and began his work.Highly recommend giving this place a shot. Very reasonable price as well (was thinking it would be around 400): actual cost was $325 for black and white tattoo on shoulder blade. This does vary depending on how long the design takes.Thank you Rod and all at Heroes & Ghosts! You made this an excellent experience for my first tattoo.

Recently got my first ever tattoo done by Ryan here a few days ago. He walked me through the whole process and was able to answer all my questions. He was super helpful and thoughtful when it came to making my idea a reality. 10/10 experience and Ryan was super cool, helpful, and informative. Would recommend to all! Shout out to Ryan Machado (@ryanmachadotattoos) and all of Heroes and Ghosts for a wonderful walk-in experience. A buddy and I went to grab some flash from off the wall, Ryan greeted us and let us know he was the walk-in artist for the day and what styles he works in. He was quick to answer questions and even worked with us to adjust some flash to be a bit more custom to the mood. He was extremely personable, friendly, and was able to work within our budgets. If youre looking for some trad work hit him up.

Ryan was sooooo good!!! this was my first ever tattoo and I was super nervous but as soon as I met him he was super welcoming and kind and made me feel super comfortable. As for the tattoo itself he did an amazing job and gave me exactly what I wanted, I trusted him completely to do the right thing and he did not disappoint at all. He also checked up on me multiple times throughout my session and made sure I was alright. It is so perfect and I will definitely be coming here for all my tattoos. Went in yesterday around close to 1 for a walk in … absolutely amazing service in there, Conroy did a japanese style dragon on my forearm didnt take long at all … perfect consistency, and perfect lines. I highly recommend this place!

Ive now had work done by Slim and Colby. Everyone Ive interacted with at this shop is professional yet laid back in all the ways youd hope.The shop periodically offers walk-ins when available and the pricing Ive dealt with so far has been very reasonable.

ABSOLUTELY RECCOMEND!! They were able to take my walk in very quickly, and communicated well throughout the beginning of the process. The receptionist was very kind and welcoming, and as this was my first tattoo, it was a wonderful experience. I believe my tattoo artists name was Shannon, and he was able to print out a stencil very efficiently, and adjust it to my liking. The tattoo process was smooth, and my tattoo artist often checked in to see if i was okay. Very kind people, clean space, and the establishment smells very good. They even let my friend sit next to me and played would you rather with me and my friend to keep me distracted!! Fabulous place, all of the staff is so friendly and welcoming. My sister and I got matching American traditional tattoos from Nick, and I was absolutely blown away by a) how quickly he worked and b) how talented he is. If you’re in the market for American traditional I would definitely recommend him.

I was originally at another location but they were booked. So glad I came to Heroes & Ghosts! They took walk-ins and I didnt have to wait long. The atmosphere was great and the artists were very nice and friendly. Vincent ended up sketching out 2 small meaningful tattoos for me and I got both for a great price! He also offered future touch-ups for no charge. I am thrilled with my tattoos and so happy I came here for them. Would recommend.

Saw Joey for a double cartilage piercing, since my sister loved seeing him for her septum. He was very informative and considerate of what I wanted to get out of my piercing. I plan to transition to double hoops, and he positioned the studs so they would heal properly and allow the hoops to lay flat based on my ear shape. He was reassuring about aftercare as well, providing me his email in case I experienced any problems (which I haven’t).

Piercing: I decided to re-pierce my nose for the 4th time and am delighted with the care I received from Sam. They assessed my nostril to ensure there wasnt too much scar tissue then sterilized every item that would be handled during the experience. I felt very taken care of, respected, and safe. They even changed the music to something I found relaxing. Dont hesitate to see Sam for a piercing, book with them today! 🏳️‍🌈 Safe

Ive visited Heroes and Ghosts twice. Once for a tattoo and second for piercings. Nick Bryant did my tattoo and I LOVE it. Hes very nice and very professional. Joey Woodard did my ear piercings. I had stretched lives that I had surgery to fix. I was very hesitant to get my ears pierced again, but Joey was very confident thered be no issues and the process went very smoothly. Definitely exceeded my expectations!Id recommend visiting these lovely gentlemen for you tattoo or piercing needs!

Ryan Machado! is absolutely phenomenal and just all around sick!! I love his Betty boop tatts and asked him to boopify my basset hound and me and he did such an awesome job!!!! I love it and have received so many compliments! Great lines, great guy and also he’s funny and a Virgo which makes him a perfectionist!

Can only review the piercing side - excellent service. Really nice, patient, and helpful piercers. Good selection of jewelry, lots of higher-end pieces. A little pricey though and a couple times i’ve shown up and no piercer was working when I was told on the phone someone would be there. Recommend calling ahead. Other than that I highly recommend.

I love getting piercings here! Cayla and Joey are both so sweet and inviting and every piercing I’ve gotten from either of them has been quick and easy. I have 10+ piercings on each ear and they still walk me through each step which I truly appreciate. If you want cute piercings with high quality jewelry come here!

I do not recommend getting pierced here. I got my nostril pierced a little over two months ago, and within a week had a bump start forming on one side of my piercing. One sided bumps are known to typically be angle bumps (nostril piercings must be done perpendicular). So, knowing this info, I consulted my piercer. I told them I didn’t mind having to get re-pierced, I know things happen and was confident they would be able to fix it by re-piercing (after removal & healing).They didn’t think the angle was wrong and had the other piercer check it as well who agreed there wasn’t an angle issue. They said downsizing the post and changing from prong set jewelry to cabochon would help resolve the bump. When I got my jewelry downsized, I was surprised when they didn’t sterilize the new flat back labret or the insertion taper before putting it in. Unfortunately the bump didn’t get better—it kept getting worse.With my bump only getting worse, I consulted 7 other piercers over the course of the next 2 months. Yes, 7. (Can you tell I really wanted this piercing to work out?) Every single one said my nostril piercing wasn’t perpendicular and what I had was indeed an angle bump. They all told me I would need to remove the piercing, wait at least 3 months, and have it re-pierced correctly.With this info, I reached out again stating my concerns. I was brushed off, and told again the angle was correct and it must be irritated because of some other reason.After consulting 7 other professional piercers, who all said the same thing, I didn’t trust their conclusion, and wanted it removed. I will get it re-pierced elsewhere.I went to this shop after looking at both piercers portfolios, and not seeing anything alarming. Unfortunately they don’t show the angle of their piercings in their portfolios, so you can’t evaluate that prior to getting pierced. I spent well over $100 for this one piercing, and am very unhappy I had to take it out due to the angle.

Waited all day for a walk in but it was well worth it!! Nick is an amazing artist and has a very enjoyable personality, and Rocky at the front desk was incredibly helpful and very nice to talk to as well!! I would recommend this shop to anyone as their artists cover a variety of styles and I hope to be back in soon for more work by Nick.

Got a piercing from Cayla and she was so great! Loved being able to just walk in. Staff was kind and welcoming and Cayla was sweet and patient. She explained everything so well and took her time. The piercing itself was quick and super easy and the placement was perfect! Clean and sanitized too!

I got a tattoo there a couple of days ago and let me tell you, I love it. I scheduled an appointment with Nick Barnett for my first tattoo, I went with him because his style was the look I was going for. Due to the precautions in place for the virus we did a consultation over email. I shared my vision with Nick and he suggested some tweaks to the tattoo style itself. His suggestions were awesome and I was happy to go along with his small changes to the style of the tattoo. The shop was clean, friendly staff, a real professional tattoo shop atmosphere. Nick was super professional and made sure to check with me multiple times throughout the session, making sure that I was comfortable and able to withstand the pain associated with the tattoo. I’ve gotten so many compliments on this tattoo already! Over all my first tattoo was a 10/10 experience. I’m definitely going back to Nick for my second.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Heroes & Ghosts Tattoo! With the pandemic, I know that availability can be a challenge, but the person my friend and I spoke with was very kind, and was able to fit us in after another client. The shop was incredibly clean, and the staff was extremely nice. My close friend and I would recommend this shop, and I will be returning. Also shoutout to Colby!! He did an excellent job on my tattoo, it didn’t feel rushed, and he was very gentle. I appreciate such great service!!

Super nice folks. Was out of town and and needed a piercing adjusted. Walked in unannounced and was greeted by super friendly and helpful staff - both in the tattoo shop and their piercing shop. Need to find an excuse to swing by again and have some real work done 🤙

I got my nostril piercing done here by the body piercer- I’m unsure of their name, but they were incredible! Very sterile, professional, welcoming and kind. Inclusive to all walks of life. Utilizes threadless titanium jewelry and pure gold jewelry, so I have no concerns about infection. Loved going here, and I think i’ve found my long-term piercer

Jess is an absolute wonder. I have gotten six pieces from her and each has been a masterpiece. I highly recommend giving her some artistic freedom because her creativity is unmatched. I have friends who have gotten work done by a couple of the other artists and those have been amazing as well. Also, there is never a dull moment in the shop so the experience is always entertaining. I highly recommend this shop over any other in Richmond.

My artist Josh, and Cameron kept me well informed between scheduling and the appointment due to covid restrictions. My interaction was professional and everything I was looking for. My tattoo is exceptional and I have another appointment a month from now Im looking forward to. I will be happy to recommend them to anyone.

I have gotten three tattoos here from two different artists, all of excellent quality. Ive also gone with three friends who were tattooed here. The place is clean and folks are really friendly. The artists I worked with were both wonderful at taking ideas and translating them into beautiful, livable pieces. Highly, highly recommend.

Very clean, friendly, and professional staff. Came in as a walk-in for a piercing on my ear and was done and out within 30 minutes. Joey did a great job at explaining the conch piercing I got and showed me how sterile the metal was that he used before doing the piercing.

I am SO happy with this place, especially after my usual shop lost favor with me. The people here do amazing work, theyre very clear with what they can and cannot do, prices are pretty great for what you get, they offer fantastic recommendations when your tattoo (or at least the drawing for it) needs to be altered, and theyre just genuinely awesome people to talk to (all of them being very friendly, which is the problem I faced at other locations). This is going to be my new recommendation when Im asked, and is now my new favorite tattoo shop.

First time and I was a little nervous and unsure of what was going to happen. The staff here was awesome. They made me feel welcomed and very comfortable, talked me through the process, and everything went smoothly. Vincent was my artist and he was just a delight to talk to--really made me feel at ease within just minutes. His work was excellent and talking with him felt like talking with a dear friend. Was so excited to come here and get some work done! Called a couple of days ago and they said it was walk-in work which is fine. I was told call the day I’m coming in and just check so I did and was reassured I should be fine. My risk I definitely get that! 3 stars because I waited almost 3 hours and never even got any work done! I checked back at an hour and a half and was told hang in there we will definitely get you in tonight! That’s the only reason I continued to wait. Gave it another almost hour and a half and came back to be told it’s not gonna happen. So disappointing! I understand the risk of walk in I’m not new to tattoos but don’t sell me an empty promise. I am the consumer in need but I value my time also. If I would have been told the first time after waiting an hour and a half it might not happen I would have gladly come back another day. Never again.

They took me as a walk in on a busy rainy Sunday and I worked with Sam. They were very kind, thorough, and helpful. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a comfortable piercing experience with someone who knows what they are doing! 😁

This place was recommended by a local tattooed waitress after myself and 2 friends decided we needed matching tattoos on our reunion holiday! We phoned and they said pop by they could fit us in no problem. We were tattooed by Nick who didn’t know quite what had hit him but he was absolutely lovely, so professional and friendly and just made us Brits feel super welcome and well looked after. We had tiny little tattoos which we paid $60 (their minimum) for but we grabbed t-shirts at a good price on top of that. Thanks guys!!

Several friends and I decided to get tattoos to commemorate college graduation. We searched all around Richmond for walk ins and three of us ended up getting work done here and had a great experience. This was my first tattoo and it went far better than I could have imagined. Jess drew up the perfect design before I even got into detail about what I wanted and the entire experience was great and cheaper than I expected. I dont live in area but will definitely be coming back for future work. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, incredibly accommodating and great work.

This is the shop I got my full sleeve done at by Jess. Spent countless hours with her completing this sleeve. Not only was I impressed but I get a lot of compliments everywhere I go about how great the artwork is. Every time someone ask who does my work I have always spoken highly of Jess and recommended her. So to the point of why I gave them a one star. My uncle decided for his 70th birthday he wanted to get his first tattoo. Impressed with the work I had gotten done he wanted to go to the same artist. I called to set up an appointment for a consultation and I was told no appointment needed. If you can show up when we first open that we be the best time to catch Jess free for a consultation. So we did. She refused to leave her station to come talk to us about the tattoo. She wouldnt talk about the size or pricing. Her response when the receptionist walked to her station was just have them email me. We paid the deposit, scheduled the appointment and emailed her the same day. The appointment was for about 60 days from the consultation. 30 days after the original email I reached out to her as a follow up because we never received a response. Again no response. So we decided to just cancel the appointment via email. Her response at that point was deposit non refundable. I understand policy and procedures but my frustration is the appointment was only cancelled because of her lack of professionalism. I dont know what has happen since the last time I have been in the shop but things have definitely changed.

Joey was very knowledgeable and helpful when it came to changing out some of my jewelry. I had a ton of questions and needs that he was patient with the whole time. He went out of his way to spend the time making sure I was happy with my purchases!

I could not have asked for a better piercing experience than I had with Joey. He made sure to explain everything to me, show me all the sanitary instruments, ask if I had questions along the way. Absolutely recommend 100%

I left a five star review about five years ago thanking Jess for doing my first tattoo, but I felt like I should update it since Ive gotten four others done here since.Everyone I have encountered has been very patient and professional, as well as being willing to explain to you nicely when something isnt possible (for a walk in, placement, sizing, ect). If you wait a long time on Saturdays, just keep in mind that there can be a line right at noon and one artist cant do multiple tattoos at once, so somebody is going to have to wait. You also can leave the shop and get a text to come back when somebody is ready.Nick (tattooelvis) & Will (dubwilltattoo) are the artists who I personally have gotten tattooed by in the past year, and I cant recommend them highly enough. Theyre just good at what they do. Nick has been really open to whatever ideas Ive had and managed to make a drawing of a spinach and feta pretzel look aesthetic, which is an accomplishment on its own. Will asked me what TV I liked to watch and played Broad City the whole time.Just immaculate vibes all around. Go here!

Im from small town Iowa and visit Richmond every 2 or 3 years. This was my second time visiting Heroes &Ghost Tattoo. I love the friendly atmosphere, and talented artist. I wish we had a place like this at home. As a walk in they got to me right away and Ellie was so nice and did exactly what I asked. Thanks!

I would love to give this place an excellent review but unfortunately I can’t. Iv had one amazing experience here with Josh. He is awesome!!!! One of the best iv worked with on my tattoos. He did a realism tattoo for me which I get the most compliments on. I can’t say the same for Ish. He cancelled with me last minute for a tattoo appointment because of an eye issue with his contacts. Which I completely understand and expressed I was sorry to hear that & hope his eye gets better. I also did express I was bummed as well but that’s understandable to be disappointed. I wasn’t mad at all. But I did become frustrated when his email stated that “Cameron” would be in touch with me about rescheduling the appointment. This happened on 3/30/21 and today is 4/8/21 and still no word back yet on rescheduling me :( This was supposed to be a celebration tattoo. So much for the celebration..Just felt it was unprofessional to not reschedule me after I already had an appointment set to begin with. ( This was also supposed to be a favor Ish was doing for Josh as well). Ish dropped the ball on me for this one. I honestly liked his work but after this I’m not going back to Ish. Side note, I found an amazing tattoo artist the next day after ish cancelled to do the tattoo and it turned out amazing.This is a great place to get a tattoo, they have very talented artists...just take the time to do your research on which artist you choose beforehand. My husband and I came to Heroes and Ghosts for our very first tattoo. The staff were all very friendly and made us feel comfortable. We both went to Nick Bryant who was very professional and attentive. We were very pleased with his work. Our tattoos were exactly what we wanted. If we do decide to get another tat (which is a strong possibility) :) we will definitely go back to Nick Bryant @ Heroes and Ghosts.

Great shop, i just got my 6th tattoo there yesterday by their new artist Mitchell Canter. I knew I could trust Mitchell off of the fact that he was hired at Heroes and Ghosts (and an impressive portfolio), and H&G only hires artists who are talented and professional. I got a great price on the realism portrait of my cat! I go to Heroes and Ghosts for my tattoos, and if you saw them, you would want to go there too.

I love Heroes & Ghosts! Very clean, fair, staff is always super cool (both front desk & the artists). I see Jess when I go, and to say she is amazing is an understatement. Most of the work i’ve gotten from her has been very personal and meaningful to me, and she always knocks it out of the park. She just always seems to know exactly what I am asking for, even if I have a hard time describing it! I highly recommend Heroes & Ghosts if you’re looking for a very professional tattoo experience. I will only ever trust them!

I ended up going out of town for a week for work so needed to reschedule my appointment. I called the shop twice, reached out to the artist online, and even sent an email. The day of my appointment they called me asking if I could come in a few hours later that day. They somehow never saw my multiple messages about having to move my appointment. 5 months later, they still have not reached back to me about rescheduling. I have reached out 10+ times, but I guess they just want my $100 deposit.

I had gone there for my 18th birthday to get a very simple 3 lined tattoo. It was $100 which is a bit over priced, especially for the quality. The ink bled, never peeled and is raised above my skin from him pushing the needle too far scarring me improperly. I wish I had a better experience. The artist was Nick, he was nice but the job was poorly done. Hope this helps future clients

Vincent did a remarkable job! Not only did he give me a beautiful tatt, he made sure I was receiving a great experience along the way. He engages in his clients and has a passion for what he does. I felt very welcomed by him and by the rest of the staff.

The one and only shop I will ever go to again. These guys are true artists and gentlemen. I have been tattooed by lots of others before coming to H&G but will not go anywhere else now. Each artist has a unique style about their craft, there is something for everyone and nothing for no one. I send anybody that asks about my tattoos to these guys because I trust them and respect them. You will be welcomed and made to feel comfortable by these modern renaissance men from the moment you walk in the door. I cant say enough about how great this shop is. Go see them!

Went in a couple years ago (pre covid) for either a walk in or to set an appointment. After a few minutes of standing by the counter and having none of the handful of employees milling about talking to each other acknowledge our existence or ask if we needed help with scheduling anything, we ended up leaving and got our work done elsewhere.They might be good artists, but hard to find out when nobody there wants to help you.

My boyfriend just finished a 5 hour session with Josh. His art is sick and hes a super cool dude. Everyone there is very welcoming and extremely passionate about their craft. Highly recommend for anyone looking to get a new piece.

Went in for my consultation In September with Mitchell, he took photos of my arm we discussed what I wanted and pricing etc. We set everything up and unfortunately work conflicted with my schedule. I rescheduled. As my tattoo date was approaching I get a phone call from the individual who does Mitchells bookings, asking if I wanted to schedule.... I told him I was ready scheduled for November, THEY FORGOT to put me in the books he said. So yet again had to move the date to now December. In December I had to have my gallbladder removed and it was the week before the tattoo appointment. I called to make sure it was still okay to tattoo and the same guy that always answers told me, for health reasons they prefer me heal, which I agree w that. So finally set for February 18 at 5pm. They call at 1 to CONFIRM, and then I head to Cary town because the traffic and my anxiety. So I pop in the shop at 230 or so to see if I can get paperwork out the way and typical tattoo ego appeared where it was just come back at 5. So at 4pm (one hour) before I need to come in, I get a call from the shop. Saying that Mitchell has forgotten what he was supposed to tattoo, and wanted to just do another consultation. Are u serious?! I asked why I was confirmed for an appointment if he didnt have anything drawn, their excuse was because my consult was 5 months ago and he sees so many people a day that he just cant keep track. Really?? Because you book months in advance anyway, so normally your schedule two - three months out to begin with. So whats the difference? Not to mention you took photos, created a file and even have emails from me about my tattoo. I was then told if I come back at 5 to consult he already had a 5pm so Id have to wait. But yet told me had noone else on the books. This shop is disorganized as hell, and makes the artists look like the stigma given to them. It took me 1 year to research and pick an artist. 1 year!!! I picked Mitchell and this is the service I get. Thanks for nothing!!! I hope the owner sees this and actually cares a little more than the person responsible for the bookings.

The artist I saw was very brusque and unprofessional, his line work was rushed and a piece that should have taken at least 30 minutes was rushed into 15. I have been to several other shops for larger and more detailed pieces and have never been this dissatisfied with a piece or with the attitude of the artist. I will not bemoan the price as I knew what I was getting into, but the work was sloppy, lazy, and not reflective of the work my mom and sister have received from other artists at the same location. If you do decide to visit heroes and ghosts, I strongly recommend meeting with your artist ahead of time and discussing details with them to hopefully avoid the same disappointment I experienced. I have already made an appointment with my favorite artist at a different shop to clean up the piece but am sorry it was necessary as my sister and mom spoke so highly of this shop.

I care about 3 things in a tattoo shop. Cleanliness, Friendly customer service, and solid procedures when getting a tattoo. This shop had all three of those things. The fact that it was well designed was gravy. I felt like my artist, Steve, cared about my ink turning out great.

My husband and I have been coming to this shop for years now and we wont go anywhere else, even though we live 3 hours away in North Carolina. Clean shop, friendly staff, and not overly priced like some of the shops in the area. My first tattoo was my shin and my artist lowered the price from what he originally told me (he goes by the hour and it didnt take as long as he thought it would.) He couldve taken my money and not said a think since it was the agree upon price but he docked I think it was $70 and this was when I first started going there. He didnt even know me and had no reason to do me any favors. Im not much of a talking during tattoos but I was laughing and chatting with him the whole time and it went by so fast. He really made the experience wonderful for me. After that I decided I wouldnt go to any other shop and I always point my friends and family and their direction.

A collection of the best artist in va for sure. Ive been going to Josh for several years for my ink and recently have gone for piercings. Extremely clean and professional shop. Very knowledgeable and friendly.

Called ahead to ask what the shop minimum was because I had a very simple and small tattoo idea. They said $50. When I went in it took him about 10 minutes to draw the sketch up and get his station ready. The tattoo itself took about another 10 minutes. He ended up trying to charge me $80. Luckily I only brought $60 so he took that.

So where to begin with my poor experience with this shop. I went there because my brother had gotten a tattoo there a few years back and I saw the work he had gotten and I was thoroughly impressed. I called into the shop and asked if they could simply meet me for a consultation. I wasnt looking to get it done that day but to just meet an artist and schedule for a later time. I walked into the shop and the front desk guy was nice and I waited for 10 minutes, so far no problems! When I was called to talk to an artist and the front desk guy about the details of my tattoo I explained I wanted a small 5 word phrase tattooed on my wrist. Immediately the artist rudely scoffed and said, Im not wasting my time scribbling on someones hand. I CANNOT believe how rude he was and poorly treated I was. I know that its not some huge piece that is going to inspire you, I get it. But you have no idea what some small tattoos mean to people, just because its not an art piece, those tattoos still bring in people and mean just as much to someone. Then! As the front desk guy was talking to me about my tattoo he was already saying, well, we cant do the font small because itll just close the gaps in the letters, so if we were to do it it would have to be big. I asked, How big? he then scaled the tattoo to being almost my entire freaking wrist! This isnt my first tattoo, I understand completely about the cursive closing up. I have my wedding ring with my husbands name tattooed on my finger, so I know, if that can be done so can a small tattoo on my wrist. I wasnt expecting this huge bold cursive slab on my wrist, and when I tried to voice my thoughts about not wanting the bold lettering it was like talking to a wall, it was like well thats the way we see it and thats the way were going to do it no matter what you want. I was so uncomfortable, felt shut down, humiliated that it wasnt more interesting. I honestly couldnt wait to get the hell out of the shop. This place went so far downhill that I will never consider sending anyone to this place! If youre not interesting enough, please dont go here. Its made very clear that they only do their best work on big ticket items.

Got my first tattoo with Nick Bryant today. I chose him because looking through his portfolio, his style seemed to match the style I was looking for. He was great! Very friendly and knowledgeable. Would recommend this place.

I had an awesome experience. Josh takes your original idea and improves upon it. The lines are crisp, the colors are vibrant where needed and muted where they should be. I definitely recommend Heroes and Ghosts for any tattoo work.

Was told to come back today at 6 for a consultation, was there promptly at 6 to meet with the artist only to be asked to wait. Which is no big deal as long as there is some communication. To which I sat there nearly 30minutes without none at all.When I asked the front desk when I might be able to see the artist as I had other things to do this evening I was told maybe you werent told but this wasnt an appointment this is just the artist might be available around this timeThis is not what I was told yesterday when I made this consultation.Whats the point of asking someone to take time out their day to sit around waiting for someone else to make time for you?Seems like basic respect to me that when you ask someone to be somewhere at a particular time, youre there on time, and if youre not, you simply communicate when you will.Walked out the shop and made a consultation appointment right down the street at Black Rabbit as they seem to respect my time a bit more.Edit in response to the reply:That is no where close to what happened. I wrote that after walking out almost verbatim what you told me. Not only that, I never even spoke with my artist over the phone, not sure where you got that bit from. I walked in yesterday and I spoke with a different front desk individual yesterday and he chased me out the door as I left to give me that time to show up today.

Heroes and ghosts is amazing. I was in town on last minutes notice and usually you gotta make an appointment far ahead of time. Knowing i was in town for just that night of the week, when one of dylans clients no showed, he decided he would take the time on 2 hours notice to do my tattoo. Got a tattoo there for my 18th from Josh. Still I rise in fairly easy print. Its botched to say the least. All the is are different, the Ls are at off angles and the lines are all different thicknesses. After he gave me a spiel about being able to do great work since hes been tattoing 15 years. I came back later to see if he would help fix it and he was really rude and barely did anything.

Got a helix piercing here and it was so painless and smooth. Everything was very clean and sanitized, I highly recommend!

By far the best tattoo experience I have ever had! Walked in on a busy Saturday, was given a realistic time to return, and Laura did a phenomenal job.

Unlike tattoo parlors 40 years ago when I got my first tattooa lot of tattoo parlors today come across as well- pissy - and look down their nose at new customers...NOT HEROES AND GHOSTS..our first visit here we were bringing our youngest daughter in to get a family tattoo.. everyone was very nice..Josh Richey did a great job dealing with my daughter and doing the tattoo..so much so that he has now done tattoos for our other daughter, my wife and myself..he is a very cool young dude who is professional and friendly and a great artist.I have several more tattoos planned and I am planning that Josh will do them all...he does take appointments..and it is Carytown so parking can be a pain sometimes, but its worth it to go here..

I came in almost 3 years ago for a basic phrase tattoo on my wrist. The artist assured me he used the thinnest lines he could, so initially it looked good. Within a few hours though, I knew something was wrong. The lines almost instantaneously spread making it look like someone wrote with a sharpie on my wrist. And it still looks chunky and has blown out to the area around it. I know now that the artist went WAY TOO HARD which lead to this result. I never thought to write a review, but now Im realizing I probably should so that no one else makes the same mistake I did by going and trusting their work on your body.*I believe the artists name was Nick

Walk-in appointment and Vince knew exactly what I was envisioning. So polite and professional! All the staff there was professional and friendly. They were helpful getting me what I needed in the same day. Will definitely return to this great place!

Wow, where to begin. If no stars was an option that’s what I would choose. I was referred to this place by a previous customer because this place does walk-ins which was great since this was a last minute idea. The front desk gentleman seemed nice, knowledgeable and thorough BUT my assumption was incorrect. I signed in at 1:58PM with (2) people in front of me and was told that it would be about two hours. I let them know that wasn’t a problem and I would be back to see Laura in two hours. I left to kill some time and returned just before 4:00PM only to be told that it would be another 30-45 minutes. I was curious as to why and the response was, Laura requested to do a group tattoo before me because money is her priority and it’s better to do a group tattoo since this is her livelihood. There are a few issues I have with this situation 1. Common courtesy would be to simply call and notify me 2. Laura/Front Desk had no idea of the cost associated with my tattoo or potential tip 3. I offered to wait because I was eager to get the tattoo only to be told that it was too detailed and she couldn’t complete it today because they were closing at 6. Needless to say I wasted 2.5 hours.POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ITS FINEST. I WOULD HATE TO THINK THAT THIS WAS RACIALLY DRIVEN BUT ITS NOT CLEAR WHY ANYONE WOULD TREAT A POTENTIAL CUSTOMER THIS WAY. I WOULD NOT STEP FOOT IN THIS SHOP OR RECOMMEND ANYONE ELSE TO. IM SURE THIS SHOP HAS A SET CLIENTELE BUT IT WILL NEVER GROW WITH EXPERIENCES LIKE THIS. I JUST HOPE NO ONE ELSE HAS TO BE MISLEAD BY THEM OR WASTE THEIR TIME DUE TO THE LACK OF COMMUNICATION AND PROFESSIONALISM. ITS CLEAR MY TIME AND MONEY WAS WORTHLESS AT THIS SHOP.
