I have numerous tattoos from Grand Ave and I can barely take the compliments! Their range is artistry is unmatched, absolutely my favorite shop in the city. I know I can recommend anyone looking for quality work to go there, no matter what they would like. The atmosphere is fun and welcoming always!! Could not recommend this shop more.

I recomend Grand Ave to everyone who is looking for new art. All the staff is incredibly talented, and make you feel in control of the whole process. They both offer their expertise on the look and placement of pieces without ever making you feel pressured. My partner and I have gotten several pieces from different artists there, but all my work is from Max who is a fine line with awesome shading expert. I get so many complements on my arm, and I will definitely be going back to full up a lot more space.

I’ve been tattooed by several artists at Grand Ave and I can’t say enough good things about this place. The team is encouraging and kind, the space is clean and organized, and they make top notch art. Clean lines, gentle hands, and good candy. I’m never disappointed but my parents always are. 10/10

GAT is by far the best tattoo experience I’ve ever had. The artists and folks who work there are so incredibly supportive, encouraging, and non-judgmental (not to mention mega-talented!). I’ve only had tattoos from Max (could not recommend him enough), but have friends who have gotten tattoos from other artists and also had overwhelmingly positive experiences. You will not regret coming to Grand Avenue Tattoo!

I was super nervous for my fist tattoo but it went absolutely amazing. i could not reccomend this place enough!! i did a walk in, showed up about an hour before opening (which may have been a little much but hey it worked out) and got in right away after being second in line! everyone was SO nice, and it was super quick and turned out exactly how i imagined! tanner did great!! not to mention the price was SO MUCH BETTER than other places were offering! 10000000/10 will come back :)

This was my first time here and it was INCREDIBLE.For the walk in, we got there a bit before opening and there were already some people in line. Right at 12 a few of the artists came out to each person to discuss their idea and get a phone number to call, so you can leave and go about your day until they’re ready for you to come in (with ~30 min notice). When they came to chat with us they all were so so kind and excited to make our ideas come to life. (We came with a pre-drawn ideas, which they made sure to take pics of for reference!)My partner and I both got our tattoo done by Bobbi. It was such an amazing experience from start to finish. We got our ideas mixed with a bit of Bobbi’s own personal style and it turned it SO DOPE. The pricing was fair, and the quality of work was incredible. The energy of the place was really good vibes and I felt truly comfortable to relax and enjoy the experience. The front staff was also super kind and was so sweet in offering us water and showing us to the bathrooms.Thank you Grand Ave tattoo. Truly you’re a gem. We’ll 100% be back not only to see Bobbi but your other artists have reallyyy quality work as well. Yall are killing it. Anyone who’s considering getting their first tattoo or their 100th and looking for a new spot, you gotta check em out.

Grand Avenue Tattoo is a 10/10. I’ve had walk-ins done by Will, Tony, Max & a guest artist. I always feel welcomed, listened to & totally taken care of by the talented artists at this shop. These people are kind and truly just want to give you a really great tattoo that you love. Highly recommend!

Best place! Have been going here for 3 years-ish and have gotten 10 tattoos here, 8 of them Marvel-based! Hands down the best group of artists I have been to and will keep continuing to go to 😀 I usually design my own tattoos and go to them to just put it on my body, but if I cant complete my vision myself, they complete it for me with all my input! While you are in their chair, they want to get to know you and your story then when you come back, they remember you! They see soooooo many people, so I would understand if they dont remember us, but its a nice little thing.

I’ve been tattooed by Ransom and Georgia, and have had stellar experiences. The other artists do fabulous work, too, and everyone at the shop seems very sweet in addition to being talented, hard-working artists. Swing on by for a walk-in!!!

I took a chance and had these walk-in tattoos done 8/14/24 by Maddie? Maddison? Madds? Im so sorry I didnt catch your name preference! Madds made me feel so comfortable; from simply asking if I was comfortable, to adjusting the stencil size and placement, to asking if I was ready to start, to warning me the wrist gets a little spicy 🤣🤣 and listening to me tell you crazy stories about my life. Im so glad I was able to grab your cashapp from you for your tip since the ATM limits you to $200 ☹️ Let that be a lesson to everyone! Bring cash! My pieces were $200 if anyone is curious. The vibes of the shop were also really fun and creative. Everyone had their own style and I loved it. As someone who works in surgery, I also appreciated the sterile technique I saw and that everyone was freshly setting up as I walked in. It adds a level of comfort knowing I can see the process happening. Definitely looking forward to coming back for more 😊

Came here on a Sunday for a walk-in tattoo, got in right away (I got there a few minutes after they opened at 12). I had an idea in mind and after showing a reference pic they were able to draw up exactly what I wanted. Everyone at this shop is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Will did my tattoo and did a great job - he was very courteous and asked how I was feeling, if I need a break, etc. Would highly recommend this spot for a first tattoo as everyone is so nice, and they make the process very easy. Would definitely come back for another tattoo! This spot is cash only but they have an ATM inside. My tattoo was $160 which I thought was very fair. Staff is kind, friendly, not intimidating, and make it a great experience.

Amazing walk in experience!! Honeycutt was amazing, they took my vision and turned into a reality! So patient with all my requests and changes, and so much fun to talk to the whole time! Will most definitely be coming back to them!

This shop is the best. If you want great tats from great people then this is your place. Very inviting and full of talented artists. I’ve gotten tattooed by Ransom and Max multiple times, and many of my friends have gotten tattooed by others at the shop. They always do great work.

Walked in to get a tattoo with my brother, staff was amazing, and Brian did a great job on both of us. Very quick, but his work is detailed and doesn’t look like he did it quickly.

I recently tried Grand Ave Tattoo for the first time and I can confidently say Ill be back for future tattoos. Not only did I get a great tattoo, everyone at the shop was really friendly, had great customer service and seemed to have a lot of fun while they work. It’s actually been a while since my last tattoo here, but I’m in marketing & know the importance of a google review (plus, I’m hoping to be back soon). Wanted to thank Max for taking the time to design my last three tattoos (one from his flash) & going above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable with the look & placement of them all. Another kudos to the shop for letting me know ahead of time that I could bring support with me for a tattoo on a sensitive area; though I didn’t end up doing it, it was greatly appreciated. Though I’ve only worked with Max, everyone in the shop (including fellow patrons) have always been kind, respectful, and overall pleasant to be around. Prices are, in my opinion, absolutely reasonable for the time used in both the designing and tattooing processes.

Do not recommend this place. had a walk in tattoo done and the tattoo blew out because it was done incorrectly. had it touched up by another artist and they said there was scar tissue from it being done incorrectly. wouldn’t recommend.

Hannah was really cool and helped me with a great design. The tattoo was done clean and sanitary and it looks great. Cant wait to go back.

Did walk-ins with some friends a few months ago and the experience was good, staff was very friendly and welcoming! I didnt think much of it at the time but everyone Ive talked to afterward thinks that it was too expensive (considering time spent and the fact that I brought a pre-drawn design). Probably wont be returning but it was a nice first tattoo experience and Im happy with the result!

I’ve now visited Grand Ave on two occasions for my own tattoos and they are both phenomenally done. The artists are very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend for very detailed tattoos and for anyone wanting clean line work!

Ive been tattooed by Ransom and Evan and both were awesome experiences! The vibe in the shop is really laid back, great sound track and the people are legitimately genuine and happy. It was cool to see the other tattooers walking around and checking out each others work. The sense of pride and appreciation for each others work will keep me coming back. Already planning my next tattoo. Cannot recommend this shop highly enough!

My first non cosmetic tattoo and had an amazing experience! My siblings and I walked in on Thursday noonish and were back in by 3pm and out by 6 which included all the paperwork, setup, tattoos, etc. Cameron did an amazing job, his fine line work is perfect. $200 for mine and $220 for my siblings who got slightly larger versions. Seemed fair, especially since there were no crooked lines!

Ive gotten a few tattoos here, all from different people. Theyve all been great tattoos and exactly what I wanted, but I especially wanted to shout out how easy going and friendly the people are, and how well they communicate. Even my mega-socially-anxious brain feels at peace getting tattooed here, it is lovely.

I cannot recommend this shop enough :)))i’ve gotten many tattoos here and have been tattooed by every artist. they are all extremely talented and so friendly! i had been to many tattoo shops before coming here and immediately felt welcomed the first time i went in. tattoo shops and getting a tattoo can be intimidating but everyone from the receptionists to the tattooers make the process so comfortable! it really just feels like you’re hanging out with friends when you’re there. Pricing has always been super fair as well for the quality of tattoos that I have gotten!

I have been tattooed at probably 25-30 shops around the USA and England and as far as the warmth and welcomeness, this shop wins hands down. Tattoo shops can be an intimidating and uncomfortable place for anyone but the guys here are incredibly friendly and inviting. I have been tattooed by Ransom and it healed looking like the day it was done. All of the guys have a little different style but all do an incredible job executing their work. No matter what you’re looking to get done someone here can do it and I’m willing to bet exceed your expectations.

Been here twice now, both times had Max and have been very pleased both times.Its first come first serve so you could be waiting a while, first visit we waited less than an hour but today we checked in at 2:30pm and didnt get in until about 6-6:30pm but theres a lot of nice restaurants and stuff nearby you can wait at. Prices are also very reasonable.

Can not recommend this shop enough! I walked in first thing on a weekday and they were able to get me in within an hour. It was my very first tattoo so I was super nervous about it but the front desk girl and I had a nice chat about it all so by the time it came for my session I was super stoked and not scared at all. Tony was amazing. He captured my vision for a dragonfly tattoo perfectly. He was super sweet the whole time, making small talk and checking in to see if I needed a break. After my tat was done I got to show it off to other clients and artists and it felt like showing it off to a bunch of friends! Nothing but smiles! The shop is pretty small but its nice, feels a little less daunting that way. Great music and fast service! Will definitely be coming back for more now that Tony and the rest of the Grand Avenue crew have me obsessed. ❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍

I got some work done by Ransom today, and I just have to say GO HERE!!! This shop is awesome! They do beautiful work, but the thing that won me over is their attitude. Super laid back and welcoming shop. I totally felt listened to and respected from start to finish. Everyone working the shop is approachable and kind, it was a total pleasure to be here and Im so happy with the work that was done. These guys are new to the neighborhood, please show them some love and support them. Two were done by Ransom, one by Cameron. I just finished up with Ransom again, he altered something I had previously done a year ago and he made the idea for it work. Three years Ive been going there, and theyre just as fantastic now as they were the first day I walked in. I love the vibe of this shop, everyone in it is so respectful and accommodating, and Ransom is quite possibly one of the kindest humans Ive ever met. I am a client for life. These guys are awesome. I came in as a walk in and felt taken care of the entire time. All of the artists made the environment so comfortable and non judgmental. They took the time to ask about my tattoo and make sure it was the correct size and in the right spot and I never felt rushed. Not to mention they got me in right away. The tattoo itself is amazing. I’m so happy with the work they do here. You can tell these guys genuinely care about their customers which is why I will be back for my next tattoo!! Ive gone to this shop twice, Ive had pieces done by both Cameron and Will. First, they both were very realistic with what could be done in a certain amount of time. They gave really good pointers on what I wanted and critiqued it. From there, both were so gentle. Ive definitely had some artists traumatized the skin a bit, but I walked away with no additional pain after my pieces (both are on my shin, so tough spot). Also, the atmosphere is amazing. Other artists will critique others work to give you the best piece possible and you can tell theyre there to support each other in the best way possible. Its a bit expensive, but the quality, versatility (most artists specialize in American Traditional, but Ive seen people walk out with all styles and designs), and people are all amazing in this shop. 10/10 recommend!

I’ve gotten 3 tattoos here, all have been fantastic! The first 2 were done by Will and the 3rd by Max. Super friendly and welcoming. I don’t plan on going anywhere else but here for future tattoos. Highly recommend!!!

I have been worked on by both Ransom and Cam here, two excellent artists who excel in their own styles. I have been to a dozen different shops give or take, and this is the first shop that I have bothered to write a review on. Super warm and friendly vibes for anyone that walks through the door, artists are easy to work with but will still offer their advice on the piece. This shop is super busy, I have never seen a shop with the waiting area completely full which says enough about how much people enjoy this place. If they are running behind on your appointment time you should realize that this happens at pretty much any tattoo shop ever. Pricing is fair for the quality and experience, but it is on the more expensive side (which when getting a tattoo, the last thing you should be looking to do is get a deal on price). Overall super pleasant experience and I will be back.

I had a wonderful experience at Grand Avenue Tattoo! The shop was clean. The music selection was perfect. Ransom did a beautiful job on my plant tattoo. He is the Plant Zaddy. The prices are totally fair for the high quality of work. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and kind. Honestly, I was just very comfortable and we had great conversation which helped pass the time. I will absolutely be back.

My friend and I spontaneously wanted to get tattoos and every shop around st.paul was booked but when we called they said to stop by and we could see if they can squeeze us in. Normally I don’t like the vibe that the artist give off and all the other places we called were very snappy and not willing to help us get in. When we arrived the staff was very kind and they were able to get us in within 20 minutes! Ransom was very nice and got left my friend and I wanting to come back for another tattoo! He was very easy to talk to and even let my friend watch which most places won’t do now! Thanks for the great inviting personalities you have here!

Okay shop. likely won’t return here. i booked with will. not the greatest experience personally compared to some of my other tattoo artists who have completed pieces of beautiful work. currently seeking an artist who specializes in cover up work due to my lack of dislike for the tattoo i got done here.. only real positive thing is cleanliness which.. is kinda necessary in a shop dealing with needles lol.

I’ve had ransom as my tattooer and he is such a great guy! I got my first tattoo here at 18 and was super nervous, especially since it was during covid and I couldn’t bring anyone in with me. He made me feel so comfortable and at ease, along with the other staff! All my tattoos are perfect and are exactly what I asked for. If I decide to get any more, this will be the place I go to!! I highly recommend it!

Everyone there was super nice and very helpful when getting my first tattoo. I like that their brand is built on walk-ins because I love getting a tattoo on the whim. So amazing!

Best tattoo shop in the twin cities. The artists are crazy talented and put a lot of work into designing something you’ll love! I’ve been tattooed by Will and Evan, but I can highly recommend each tattooer with their own talents. Great vibes and music in the shop- you definitely feel like a friend here. Excellent place to go if you like the American traditional style. Bring a snack and water, tip your artist, take care of your tattoo properly at home and life is a dream. Awesome, awesome place. Very friendly staff - if youre doing a walk-in, make sure you leave ample time in your schedule, and try to get there right at 12! I came in on a weekend with my roommate around 12:30 to put our names in and got called in to come back around 2 pm. We got our tattoos drawn up and started at 3. Overall the wait wasnt too bad, we got to walk around Grand Avenue and shop at all the other cute stores in the area :) Cameron did our tattoos and he was super chill, very friendly and professional. Both of our tattoos were done in less than an hour. Will def be coming back!

Got my first tattoo yesterday from Evan. It was a tattoo on my ring finger as I recently got engaged and I must say I love it. The customer service was amazing, and the price was more than fair. I look forward to getting more tattoos done at this shop.P.S. if you want a walk in I’d advise you arrive around 11 because the list fills up quick (probably due to the amazing quality of the talented artist)

Received my first tattoo with Ransom and the experience was so pleasant and genuine. The shop is beautiful and Ransom, the owner and tattoo artist, is thoughtful and caring. I’ve been to a couple tattoo shops in the cities, but once I went to Grand Avenue for the first time, I knew I wouldn’t be going anywhere else. The staff are so incredibly friendly, the tattoo shop is extremely clean, and the artwork is unmatched. Cameron has done one tattoo on me already, and we just finished a session on another tattoo. If you’re looking for realism, Cameron is absolutely your guy. This is absolutely a five star tattoo shop, I can assure you, you will not leave disappointed.

I’ve been here a few times and have always seen Cameron. I was getting a back piece and was feeling very anxious about it, and Cameron was very empathetic and flexible. He also has a really gentle hand! The whole crew gives great emotional support. A very positive environment, I would recommend them to anyone.

I really can’t say enough good things about Grand Ave Tattoo! I stopped in on a whim last year for a walk-in piece and was completely blown away by how f*%&ing FRIENDLY all of the artists at the shop are. I’ve been back to see Evan a few times now because he puts so much time and care into every piece he does, walk-in or otherwise- and he’s super comfortable to sit for.Seriously, it doesn’t matter if this is your 1st tattoo or your 40th- this is the shop to go to.

Had my first ever tattoo done with Will as a walk in. Couldnt be happier with the work. Clean lines. Didnt hurt. checked in with me constantly. I got the tattoo at the same time as an LGBTQ friend, and they couldnt have been cooler. No broiness or stupid masculinity to be found. Whether youre a first timer or someone with loads of ink, this place is great. Laid back and skillful. Just be understanding that they take a lot of walk-ins, and that they may not be on schedule, and basically, be cool, as they are being cool. Whether youre a new customer or old. Ill definitely be going back.

Ransom has always been a personable dude with great stories and even more amazing art and tats. I never have had an issue trying to get business with him and am thrilled he has started his own shop! I’ve gotten 2 tattoos here (both done by Ransom) and I cannot rave enough about this place! The absolute nicest, friendliest staff. Super clean place, great vibes. And super super sick work done by all of the artists! Cannot recommend enough.

There are better places in the cities to go for a tattoo. I went in to schedule an appointment, and the front desk staff was nice enough. When I arrived for my appointment time, I waited over an hour because for some reason the artist didn’t think I was there even though the shop had told him I was. The artwork wasn’t ready, even though I had sent the artist a DM explaining what I wanted. (3 stars with varying shading on my collarbone). I got the 3 stars, but the shading was poorly done and sloppy - it looks like I have discolored skin where the shading is. I’m going to another shop to get these filled in, and won’t be going back anytime soon.

My husband and I went here to get tattoos as we were trying to find a new tattoo artist since moving from North Dakota. This was by far the worst customer service I have experienced. We showed up 10 minutes before our tattoo as we are aware that paperwork is needed. As our appointment is reached our artist literally STARTS a tattoo on someone else. Which means he has to finish that whole tattoo, wrap it and clean his station before he can even start ours. After 25 minutes nothing has been said to us, so we asked for our deposit back. No joke the artist laughs and states call that other dude who wanted a tattoo. Simply he could have said I’m sorry for being unprofessional and being ready when I set an appointment with you. Safe to say I will never be back because if this is how your customer service and professionalism is then I would rather give me money to an artist who cares about us as a customer.

I came in as a walk in. I came early in the Morning and got my work done right away! Everyone there is super friendly and are just overall great guys. Super considerate of everything. During the process, will made sure I was okay the whole time, and asked if I needed breaks or anything. (They even bought us jimmy Jon’s)….10/10 service10/10 people.

I first met Ransom (the shops owner) when he worked at another shop, he gave me my first tattoo which was exactly what I wanted and then some, great conversationalist too. Unfortunately, before I could get more work done I deployed overseas. When I came back and found out he opened his own shop and reached out, not only did he remember me, my tattoo, my girlfriend, but he remembered everything we talked about almost a year prior. Add to that that the shop wasn’t even open yet! He still said he’d get some work done on me and gave me two perfect tattoos! On top of that!!! I mentioned I was hungry when I was getting a 3hr tattoo done and not only did him and his staff offer me their food (some cheeze its and a banada) they also FED ME THEM so I could keep getting work done. Above all else this is THE shop, the skill is perfect, they are all wholesome down to earth people and I don’t know if anyone elses needles will ever touch my skin!

Stopped in for a walk-in tattoo. It was a simple design and Ransom killed it!! I L.O.V.E my vertical lip line. I am proud to rock his work. I will mos def go back there to get work done and chat it up with him and Will. Glad they are in a neighborhood I frequent often.

Me and my boy mike got tattooed here and the shop was super clean and the people who work there are extremely friendly. They make gorgeous tattoos and i could not have had a better experience. i love it. would definitely recommend visiting this shop for your tattoo needs.
