Nicky is unbelievably talented. I had a 4 year old tattoo that was faded and did not have the details and vibrancy that I wanted. She listened to me, took my ideas, and made them art. Nicky used temporary ink marker to draw the details and incorporate the design then worked magic with color. She is extremely knowledgeable and even though I live in Minneapolis; I would fly back to Santa Fe for any future touch ups and tattoos. Thank you so much!!

Rivers Collective was super clean extremely friendly environment. I got a large arm piece done by Nikky and she worked with me on a design I had started and made transformed my word of mouth and partial design into a beutiful detail oriented piece. She asked me how I was doing how things looked until we both were 100% ready to start. Her detailed line work is immaculate. She was having fun making jokes telling stories the whole time. Overall great experience! Again super clean line work and detail.

Weston did a couple tattoos for my mom and I and made the experience super easy! we both love our tattoos, highly recommend!

I had both of my conches pierced yesterday. Piercer was very knowledgeable and seems to take his profession very seriously. 10/10 would make the three hour drive to get pierced here again and would recommend this place to a friend.On a side note, this was the friendliest business I had been to in Santa Fe, and my husband and I did a lot while we were there. Owner, receptionist, and piercer offered pleasant conversation. Energy of this establishment is very good.Happy customer from Lincoln County, NM.

Nicki is an amazing artist, has a very light hand and the prices are perfect.I have gone back to have work done by her and she always has great ideas, creativity and open to suggestions, adaptive to where THE CLIENT always walks out happy.I have not had any piercings done there myself, but every time I go, all that I’ve seen leave have a smile on their faces too.They also have a great selection of piercing jewelry- for all price ranges.Clean, sanitized, great customer service.I cannot say enough good place about them!!!

WONDERFUL! I’d love to be able to get a tattoo here, but just for piercings this time; a stacked lobe. Perfect job, placement, and very professional. They helped me pick out beautiful earrings for my stacked lobe and also an earring for a currently healed conch piercing. They colored the conch jewelry for me and were so nice and so helpful. Would go back in a heartbeat if I were local. 100% recommend.

Amazing shop my mom,nana,and aunt went well they were in Santa Fe. Nikki opened my Nana up to different piercings she was so amased at the fact someone can get there eye balls tattooed!!!!!!! My mom can not say enough about the great Souls Nikki and Weston are. I havent even met Nikki and I have connected with here through the stories and it is amazing how much I have in common with here and her daughter. I love the artwork on the walls that I saw from the pictures. I love the tatoos to. They are both very talented people and they could not have picked better people to go to. At one point my Nana gave everybody Werthers candy and Weston opened his and it was a piece of chewed gum and he made everyone laugh saying he was going to put it in a shadow box. They also called Nana Mama the entire time and it made here feel so special. 😊🖤

Amazing experience from the beginning. Staff was incredibly friendly, accommodating, helpful in terms of tattoo ideas.Went in there with no idea as to what we wanted. In the past, tattoo artists have been snobby and unable to help with the process of creating a tattoo together. This wasn’t the case with Nikki. She is an amazing artist and an incredibly nice person. She sketched up our tattoos based on elements we were just throwing at her on the spot. She treated us like we had been friends for years, talked to us about local spots for authentic Mexican food, and last but not least, gave us two really sick tattoos! She hooked it up, and did such a great job that we’re going to try to get in there again today for another tattoo each. Visiting Santa Fe from Austin and couldn’t have found a better artist. Thanks again you guys!

Rainy day on Spring Break in Santa Fe. What else to do but go to a cozy tattoo parlor and get an Ephesians 5.2 “Walk in Love” tattoo with my 18 year old daughter! I have it in her handwriting, and she has it in my handwriting. The service was so wonderful from Alexander the tattoo artist that he has a halo over his head!

Had an awesome experience at Rivers Collective. Weston pierced my nose one day and after looking through his work I came back the next day for a tattoo. The piercing went super smooth and had no issue after. The tattoo looks great with clean lines and great shading.

This is my absolute favorite place to get tattooed! Nikki does fabulous work and I trust her to make my ideas come to life! Weston does really good work as well and I am very pleased with my pieces from both artists! Garrett has helped me pick out and sold me all of my current body jewelry. This place is wonderful! The shop is gorgeous and everything is well-maintained and cared for. I’ve gotten a few cartilage piercings done by Phil and everything was very clearly sterilized and extremely clean. There is an immense selection of high-quality jewelry to pick from, too. All the staff members are very friendly and very knowledgable on the piercing/tattooing processes and aftercare. I also received a large thigh piece and a small wrist piece from Nikki and she was absolutely amazing. The thigh tattoo took about three 2-4 hour sessions in total and each time she was very friendly and energetic, not to mention she’s a STUNNING artist. I would honestly trust my life with her. I cannot praise Ikigai and their staff members enough. You’ll definitely receive quality body art here.

I had some piercings done recently by Phil. When I showed up early for my appointment Phil and all his staff were super busy but he still found the time to greet me and even to joke briefly. While I waited my turn I sat there and just watched and listened to how Phil and his wife Nikki and their staff conducted business . They were very professional and fun. The way they treated their customers was outstanding ! For me Im all about customer service and the the service after the sale. I am so pleased with the way I was treated that I will definitely be scheduling soon to have some more work done. This time I think I would like a new tattoo. I will be recommending this business to all my friends and family without a doubt. Thank you Phil for the amazing work and the outstanding customer service .

I rarely share reviews, but I felt like I needed to! This was an absolute wonderful place and experience. This was my first time getting cartilage done professionally and they were absolutely wonderful. The workers there were incredibly patient with me and super helpful (it took me forever to pick out jewelry, and asked tons of questions).They are incredibly clean, and sterilize all their tools and jewelry. (Something that definitely reassured my mother).I have a difficult time with needles and Phil was incredibly patient, kind, and understanding throughout the whole process. I love the finished product, and it was certainly quick and much less painful that what I thought!I would definitely recommend, it is slightly pricey, (the piercing in itself isnt, but some jewelry can be, however they have cheaper options, and the ones that are more expensive are expensive for a reason).I would go here for sure, and am excited to hopefully get more! :)

Nicki was the perfect artist to do my tattoo while in Santa Fe! When I called to ask about availability, the shop was professional and really nice over the phone. They were able able to accommodate my timing as I was only in town for another day. And when I arrived, I was greeted with a smile and entered into a clean, beautiful space. Nicki listened to my preferences and created exactly what I wanted. She is patient, a sweet individual, and a master at her craft. Phil is AWESOME! I’ve come to him for a few piercings now, before and during COVID, and cleanliness and the sense of hospitality have always been top tier. Phil and Nikki are super sweet and always great to chat with, which definitely makes the experience 10x better alone. Every time I’ve gotten a piercing with Phil it’s always a great time, and he always makes sure it is done perfectly to my liking which I absolutely love. Options for jewelry are endless and quite beautiful too, so there’s definitely something there for you no matter your sense of style. I HIGHLY recommend you come here when considering getting your tattoos or piercings, the quality is excellent, and they’re very safe and sterile during such a crazy time. TL;DR: this place is absolutely amazing. Incredibly clean. Nikki is amazing. Phil is super cool. This is THEE place to get any and all tattoos/piercings.My partner, my friend, and I got 3 amazing little flash pieces from Nikki last night, and WOW! What an amazing experience! From beginning to end we were treated like “family,” not just “clients.” Nikki took the time to walk us through her available flash designs and even tell us a little about each of the pieces. She really made all of us feel welcome and safe.The whole shop was incredibly clean, to the point where had everyone been wearing scrubs, I legitimately would not even question the situation. As someone categorized as “high risk” for the plague known as The ‘Rona, I REALLY appreciated the amount of time and care that went into the sanitation of Nikki’s station.Oh, and I forgot to mention that Nikki’s husband, Phil, their daughter, and two new fur sons were also super awesome and friendly!! Like I said, we were treated like family, and it was fantastic! I have never laughed so much during a tattoo! Thank you all for the good conversations, all the laughs, and most of all the amazing tattoos!!

Saw Phil on a walk in for my first time getting a piercing. The first thing I noticed was the shop was I credibly clean and inviting and the staff there were all very nice. Phil did my piercings and was incredible. He was very knowledgeable and helpful with all my questions and issues.the piercing took no time at all. Overall it was a great experience that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a new piercing.

I never write reviews but I feel like I need to regarding Ikigai.I got a tattoo from Nikki a little over a week ago. Nikki and Phil create a great atmosphere at the shop. The shop is extremely clean and this made me feel much more safe and confident. I love the tattoo I received from Nikki. She gave me exactly what I wanted. I have had very little pain, itching or scabbing with this tattoo. Thank you Nikki and Phil. I cant wait to go back!

Got 2 amazing tattoos from Nikki. The first was a display of dahlias to cover up some scarring from a surgery. Came out perfect!!!! The second was a redo of a tattoo that faded out. She put a new twist on it and really made it come to life. I’ll be going to her for many other tattoos. I highly highly recommend!

Garrett (the piercer) helped me out when another piercing studio in Denver botched my upper lobe piercing. The post was too short and so in swelling it was getting sucked into my ear and extremely painful. He did a great job getting the piece out so I didn’t have to have a Dr. Do it. The whole shop was welcoming and adaptive to my walk-in request. After my experience I would 100% have work done here.

Very clean, super helpful staff. I popped in while visiting family because Ive been unimpressed with the piercing studio sanitation where I live (central PA). It was sparkling and spacious, and I knew I wanted to do whatever I could in my time in Santa Fe. The piercing experience was awesome too: swift, sure, and theyre healing perfectly.Phil, the piercer, and the woman who worked the front desk (Im sorry your name escapes me!!!) worked to curate a single upper ear for me in my particular style. Their choices of jewelry was so extensive that I changed my mind a few times and they were more than kind. They told me how the jewlery would work (spacing, etc) and I ended up with a glorious 3 piercings tied together with a delicate chain. For family reasons, Ill probably be back in the fall, and Im looking forward to more piercings then. Its totally worth this trip!

Nikki and Phil were awesome!! I went in for a nose piercing and came out with a tattoo. I was looking all over Santa Fe for someone to give me a tat and Nikki was so awesome and said she would do it. I went in a few weeks back to get my septum pierced. Phil was patient and answered my questions. He was thorough and clean and made sure that I was comfortable with where he recommended the piercing be placed. This was the most painless piercing I’ve ever had, and has healed with the most ease. I will be going back to Phil in order to custom design a piece with him for when the piercing has healed. Now that I’ve experienced this, I will only come to Ikigai and Phil for my piercings and jewelry. AMAZING!!!

Awesome experience with Nikki and Phil!My five year old daughter has been begging me to get her ears pierced- Phil had done my belly ring several years ago and it was so painless I knew he would give my daughter a good experience.She did not shed a single tear!Also very satisfied with lavender cleaning product provided for her ears.Overall- great experience. Nikki is an amazing tattoo artist and created a beautiful custom piece for me that I absolutely love. The shop is super clean and for the first time ever I was actually shown each needle being opened and the expiration on the package. I was thoroughly impressed by all the staff and will most definitely be back!

What a great shop. I have been tattooed quite a bit and this shop has a sense of hospitality, cleanliness and comfort. Everyone is super pleasant and accommodating. The owner is funny as hell and a talented artist as well. Xander the gentleman who did my tattoo had the Hands of an ANGEL and really worked with me to create the right design.I cant wait to get back which I hope will be soon.

Phil did a perfect job piercing my second nostril and he was the best at removing my old dermal! I don’t think anyone could have done it better. I came with my cousin who got a great script tattoo on her hand from Nikki, which healed perfect and has great lines! Favorite new shop in Santa Fe.

Phil and Nikki are the best! Came in today with my sister to get our ears pierced and we couldn’t be happier with the result. Phil is an awesome piercer. He did my industrial, when I was told it couldn’t be and did another upper ear for me. Very professional and listens to what you want. His wife fixed 3 neck tattoos and they came out AMAZING!!! Her creativity and custom work is great. She is gentle when she tattoos and explains every step of the process as she goes. I can’t wait for her to touch up some of my older tatts and help myself and my husband custom design our next new ones.

I have gotten tattooed and pierced at this shop. Phil (piercing) and Nikki (tattoo) are good people who are great at their art. Both are meticulously detail oriented and want to make sure what you get looks good and that youre happy with it. The shop itself is very clean and they sell a bunch of beautiful quality jewelry.

The absolute best place in Santa Fe to get piercings done. Phil makes a lot of the jewelry locally and when I went in there weren’t any that fit my ears, so he custom made 14k gold jewelry for my conch and cartilage piercings on the spot! I was referred to Phil almost 2 years ago for a piercing! Best thing I ever did was go to him! Not only did he do an amazing job on that piercing he has done 5 more piercings for me and I have taken all 5 of my daughters to him for piercings or jewelry! BONUS! Got to know Nikki and now I have an amazing piece of art on my back customized for me. I am very cautious about my piercing and tattoos because on occasion I do have to be in business attire. They both kept it extremely classy and always made sure I was comfortable and happy with their work!! The only downside .. I want more art done and everytime they get new custom jewelry it’s so beautiful that, I think I need to own it . I stop in at least once a week and never ever has my respect for them changed. Best shop in town by far!

I’d give them more stars if google would let me. Phil and Nikki are so genuine, welcoming, and helpful - they don’t have the “too cool” attitude you run into with some tattooers and piercers. They have a clean shop, great jewelry selections, and more than fair prices. Phil re-pierced my upper lip and absolutely knocked it out, it looks perfect. If I lived here, they would see me so much more!

I wanted to get my ears re-pierced and was looking for a place with a good reputation. I kept reading great reviews about someone named Phil, but discovered he was not listed at the location that had many positive reviews. However, I then found Ikigai and realized that this was the same Phil. He and his wife have opened their own business, so I went over. Phil couldn’t have been nicer or more thoughtful or professional. Everything was clean and hygienic and, best of all, it was virtually painless and very fairly priced. I don’t have other piercings, but if I did, I wouldn’t hesitate to go back. Very positive experience with really nice people!

I had gone in looking for a certain size for my septum gauge. They were able to size up my septum for me and pierce my bridge. over all really enjoyed my experience, the staff was all very kind and welcoming and was able to answer my questions! as a walk in was able to be served right away! highly recommend!

It took me a year to get the guts to write this review but I dont want anyone else to spend money on something theyll just cover up later.Nicki is an awesome person, and I say this with so much love and hope that it will get better, but she cannot do watercolor. I got my first visible, big piece (1/2 sleeve) by her and wanted a watercolor tattoo. When she finished, it was not watercolor style, more like paint brush strokes. I was honestly just kind of proud of myself that I simply committed to a big tattoo, so I pushed down my displeasure and went back to the shop for a text tattoo. She forgot a word in my text.I love Nicki and I hear she is awesome at realism but should not tell a client she can do watercolor when she cannot. I went to True Grit in Albuquerque for a cover up and got world-class watercolor service. I know Nicki is always trying to actively improve her services/techniques and I have mad respect for that! It should stay off of clients until it is perfected.

Today I went to see Phil to get my cheeks pierced. He was so personable and knowledgeable it made the whole experience just amazing from start to finish. The shop has beautiful jewelry and great music playing. Definitely a great place for a piercing. Thank you Phil, I absolutely love them!!!

I love this place ! They are super sweet and make sure you’re comfortable when they do their jobs. The tattooist is awesome she made my tattoo exactly what I wanted a made sure I was okay the entire time. She did an amazing job. And the piercer was amazing! I’ve been their 3 or 4 times and they are the best at what they do. I am going to be coming here for every piercing and tattoo I will be getting in the future and so should you.

Great experience for my daughters first ear piercing. Phill is very laid back and easy going which creates a good atmosphere. My daughters piercings came out great. Phil took into consideration her different sized earlobes when making the marks for the piercing. There were many styles to choose from. Everything looked clean. We were not rushed. My daughter did not flinch at all. I didn’t realize he did it by hand because I have only seen piercing guns used before. I figure if he did it by hand and she didnt flinch, he’s gotta be really good. That along with everything else I mentioned makes us want to return for our own piercings! Thanks Phil and Ikigai!

I recently lost my 24 year old niece unexpectedly. Which I have not taken lightly. My family and I live in a small town in East Texas and drove to Santa Fe to pick up our daughter. On the way it was decided that I would get a tattoo in memory of my niece. I was originally going to go to another tattoo shop but they unfortunately were not sure if they could fit me in as I was only in town for one day. The only reason I was going to a different shop is because the shop I originally wanted is closed on Sundays and Mondays where Phil previously worked. She sent me to Nikki to see if she could take care of me. Now, not living in Santa Fe for over four years many things have changed. We pulled into the parking lot and I saw Phil’s truck. I was confused. We walked in to see Phil behind the counter. Phil has always been my tattoo piercing specialist. Nikki asked what I needed, me being the mess that I am cried as I explained what happened and why I was there. Nikki quickly comforted me and assured me that she would make sure I was taken care of. With me sitting there in tears she drew out what would be my tattoo that my niece had picked out. She is so loving, compassionate, and understanding. She literally cried with me a couple of times through out the whole process. She is incredibly gentle. Explained the whole process and everything that she was doing. The environment is very welcoming and immaculately clean. We have already started to plan on other trips back to Ikigai for more work from this wonderful family. Nikki’s artistic skills are phenomenal and her ability to quickly adapt to anything Is so great to see. We can’t wait to go back and get more.

I had my first piercing ever today. Both ears. Was slightly nervous but Phil and Nicole are really calming, clean, professional and most importantly experienced. Nice looking store front as well. There are a lot of shops in town to chose from but I would prefer to return to Ikigai. Why take a risk somewhere else? They told me they are usually not too busy when they first open in the mornings if you prefer not waiting.

We had a group of 5 girls come in and we were all trying to decide what piercings to get. Phil showed us so much patience and walked us all through the process effortlessly. My 3 girls wanted to get cartilage piercings of their ears. As two were under 18, I was there to sign parental approval docs. Phil was patient and professional as he explained everything in detail and answered all of our questions. He repeatedly confirmed with us before the piercings how everything was kept sterile and clean. (very important!) The whole experience was wonderful.

I got my helix earring done here and I was a bit nervous but I felt a lot better when I saw how clean everything was and how Phil showed me that everything was sterilised. Phil gave very clear instructions on how to care for the earring which was very helpful. This place was really great and I would defiantly go back to get another piercing!

I came here with a friend who was gonna get a piercing, and while I was waiting I was talking to Nikki about color in tattoos, and she showed such knowledge and professionalism that I ended up getting my tattoo retouched. I’m from New York and this piercing place became one of the reasons to come back to Santa Fe. Phil was so patient, fun, and open to creative collaboration. You could tell he loves what he does and is so focused on your happiness with the outcome. Probably spent 2 hours there and love love the piercings/earrings I got.

Nikki did such an amazing job on my tattoo! I absolutely adore it and will definitely go back for more. I will refer everyone to Nikki. The entire staff are kind, professional, and awesome.

I went as a walking to purchased new jewelry for two of my piercings after being told via email that they would accept walk-ins. They sold me two rings that were 20$ each with a 3,65 credit card fees and told be they didnt have time to change the jewelry for me. I struggled to changed them on my own at home and one of them wasnt the right gage and didnt fit and the other ring is now crooked because I had trouble to change install it on my own. I would not recommend going there to purchased jewelry

Love this shop and wish I lived closer to visit more frequently. Their jewelry is beautiful and unique and high quality and they treated me like an old friend, even though it was my first time in. I was looking for a new nose jewelry piece and they had so many great choices it was difficult to decide. Most shops have the same old, same old, but not this shop ~ very beautiful, one of a kind jewelry. Highly recommended for amazing jewelry, awesome people and high quality work.

Phil and Nicki are the owners of Ikigai, they greeted us with positive energy. I plan on going to get pierced there soon. I know friends and family that have been pierced by Phil and highly recommend him. The new space is welcoming, has amazing lighting, and is aesthetically pleasing.

Took my 15 year old daughter to get a 2nd piercing on her ear lobes and a helix. I wanted someone good. Phil did not disappoint! He is a PERFECTIONIST. Thats exactly what I wanted. He talked us thru the whole process and made himself available incase there were any problems. He was excellent and definitely recommend for perfect piercings!

I got a piercing done by another shop in santa fe and I was not pleased. I had asked Phil his opinion on my piercing and he agreed that the placement was incorrect. I went in to see Phil to get it fixed and he was awesome. Right where i wanted it, the healing process has been 1000% times better and i could not be more happy. I will definitely be going back!!

I have a few experiences, I originally went to get a tattoo. I asked for a cover up and I begged her and said consistently “not to shade.” She agreed to that and she still shaded the tattoo and didn’t tell me. I Still payed full price even though it’s not what I wanted. They are nice enough that I went back and got a piercing from her husband. He pierced it really crooked. He then re pierced it to rectify his mistake, he handled it professionally. But then I got black eye from my piercing. When you get a body modification it should be how the customer wants it, it’s their body. I hope they can improve from this feedback.

Went to Santa Fe for a gitls weekend and decided i wanted to get my daith pierced... Found this shop on google. Called phil up and he said to come on in. I wanted a heart earing in my daith and he customed made one just to fit me. Him and his wife were very nice, professional, kind, etc. They really cared about me and what i wanted. I love my daith piercing!!!!!! Their shop was also very clean!! I would recommend phil to anyone!!

Visiting New Mexico with my friend I decided to pierced my nose and we found this place.Abosolutly awesome! The owners are super sweet and fun. If you want a place with a soul this is where you get to go!My friend even ended retouching her tattoo and adding a few details ... looks amazing!And I love my piercing!

We came in town for a weekend road trip and my wife and I decided to get matching tattoos.They got us in at the end of the day with no complaints or “can you come back tomorrow” or “we’re closing soon” - NOPE - just “come on in and we’ll get to it!”Nicki and Phil were supremely AWESOME! Took my 15 year old daughter to get a piercing. Did not get it due to them needing a copy of her birth certificate. What does her age matter if Im her parent and can sign for her. She already has 4 piercings and 2 tattoos. Its the dumbest excuse Ive heard of. Will never give this place business.

This place is a ripoff...charging $100 (starting price) for a replacement ring for an already pierced belly button. Went to a different local shop and paid $10!!

I was in Santa Fe for a quick trip and bought a cool pair of earrings on the plaza. On a whim, I decided to get a second piercing and was recommended to go see Phil. It has been quite some time that I’ve had a piercing done, so initially I thought the cost was pricy, but the customer service, professionalism and process was incredible and first class. I know I made a good choice coming here!
