James at Artistic Advantage Tattoo & Piercing is the BEST and ONLY artist i will ever see again. he has 30+ years of experience. i highly recommend him to anyone and i trust him very much. he really fixed me up and executed the cover up tattoos i needed PERFECTLY! i am beyond satisfied & impressed. i finally feel complete. so many artists just do not care and will mark you up permanently & it really causes such distress on the self esteem. James is the way to go.

My fiancé and I get our tattoos here. JD did amazing with my fiancés sleeve and helped a lot with my first tattoo! Definitely going back to get my family tree of life done :)

Love those guys...James Parker is the owner of Artistic Advantage also tattoo artist and piercer. Joe Daniel is also a tattoo artist and piercer here and my favorite. 😉 (No offense James). I never review anything but I cannot say enough about this place. This was a cover up tattoo. They got me in quick, had it drawn up in no time and worked with me to do what I wanted with the design and made it work as a cover up. They were also very decently priced and professional. The tattoo artist did this thing where he kind of worked around the tattoo and didn’t linger in one place for too long, which really helped with the pain. This was by far my longest tattoo session and no where near the most painful one I’ve had. My sister also got a double nose piercing and it was placed perfectly and is so cute. We will definitely be making the trip out to Charleston for all our future tattoos/piercing needs. Thank you guys!

Stopped here with my sister and best friend during a weekend getaway. We had no plans other than to make plans as we went. This ended up being the bulk of our Saturday plan. My sister and I opted to get tattoos. My friend chose to get a piercing. JD was our artist. He did an amazing job working with all 3 of us and quite a few others in between. I wish I had captured my daughters face when she saw her name in her favorite color. This place is quite far from me but I wouldnt mind the trip for future work I have in mind!

I came in looking for a cover up. I know the choices are limited when it comes to cover ups, JP was able to design something that suited my personality and looked amazing. He was able to squeeze me in that day also.I think all and all we spent an hour designing something. He was so friendly, I felt like I was just hanging out with a life long friend. I posted some before and after pictures on my fb books and everyone couldnt believe how well it hid the old tattoo and how amazing it looked! Definitely looking forward to working with him again. The shamrock was the old tattoo that we covered, the rose and moon were the final product

Loved the work here. I got my first tattoo here, and so far its held up quite nicely! Joe is a great tattoo artist, and my mother agrees. I plan on getting all of my future tattoos here, and hopefully I can land a piercing apprenticeship here as well! Great job, boys. (And girl) Keep it up!

Went there for the first time today. Ive always heard great things about the shop. They were very friendly and profesional. I will definetly be getting all my tattoos done here!

I had to get my nose repierced after my old piercing closed. We called ahead and they had a very good screening process. Jamie was really nice, made everything very comfortable and walked me through everything step by step. The actual piercing was also very nicely done. Everyone there was very nice and overall, it was just a very good experience.

Had 2 piercings done about 2 days ago, Place was dirty, Employees will leave you standing. No after care instructions, didnt clean the marks or blood after the piercings. Ive had over 30 piercing experiences and never one this bad. Ill go elsewhere and so should you respectfully. I hope this helps someone.

Got my first tattoo at 68 1/2 years old. A very nice, respectful young man named Christian was my tattooist. Using a design I supplied, he reproduced it exactly and with great detail and color. The text is beautifully done and easily readable. The atmosphere at the shop was friendly, casual, but very professional. I watched Christian setting up and preparing. He was very meticulous and careful to sanitize everything. Plus, I had a big recliner to sit in with my feet up during the 1 1/2 hour process. The main feature of my tattoo is a quote from a Joni Mitchell song. My only complaint is that Christian is too young to know who Joni Mitchell is! I was very pleased with the whole experience (the pain aside) and highly recommend these folks for all your tattooing needs!

Every tattoo I have gotten from joe has been amazing 10/10. I went the other day with my friend and got tattoos that went perfectly. As I was leaving I decided to get my septum pierced. The piercer was in a hurry mid day with no other people in store and pierced my septum twice! After the second time I knew something was wrong because it sat in my nose crooked and was too far back to flip up. I will be getting it redone today. Also, it totaled $70 and the shop I will be going to with amazing reviews only charges $45.

I have had 3 tats done by Joe at Artistic and all are amazing! Joe is a great artist who takes his work seriously, but he is also very down-to-earth and makes you feel comfortable immediately. Im sold on Artistic. People have recommended other local tat shops, but Im sticking with Artistic! Theyre good guys and make you feel more like an old friend than a customer.

James does excellent work. From piercing to tattoos, I have been consistently impressed. I have even taken my children for ear piercings and they had no problems and healed well. My favorite tattoo he did was this one. It is a few years old now and still looks great.

Very polite, clean and awesome work space. They done an amazing job on my nose piercing. I love it. They listened to the way I wanted it done and talked to me while doing the piercing to keep my mind off it, loved the music that they played while I was there and I totally recommend going there.

Took my daughter to get her belly button pierced. They were awesome, quick and very professional. Will definitely be back.

I recently visited Artistic Advantage to get my nose pierced. When I arrived, I was met by a gruff, agitated nose piercing staffer who rush me through the entire process under 2 minutes. I sensed that something was wrong when he looked at the clock and seem to rush. Against my better judgment, I went ahead with the procedure.Because I’ve had a piercing before in Minnesota in a highly sterile, physician’s office-like environment, I knew that this wasn’t standard protocol. As a result, he pierced my nose so tight that the piercing sunk into my nose cartilage within two days. Now in Ohio, I have to hire another piercer to remove this defective piercing, let my wound heal, and get another nose piercing.I imagine that the Main tattoo artist (who seem to be the main owner) is a really nice man. I imagine that if you want.a great tattoo, you will get it here.Unfortunately, as a general Caveat Emptor, I cannot recommend getting a piercing here. I did not get the standard care that I deserved. Sad.

Highly regret coming here. i had a septum piercing done for $75 i believe, which wasalready the first red flag (everyone i know who had a septum done paid 45-65). the environment felt off, didnt smell the best, and no one was there for a few minutes. i waited around an hour and a half for the piercer. when he finally came, he brought me to the back, gave me no after care instructions, and no warning for anything. after the piercing, i saw that the piercing kept flipping up and would not stay down. he told me it was the vaseline he put there that made it slippery and it would go away. two days later and it still would not stay down and kept flipping up. i finally looked at it good snd realized the placement was atrocious. it wasn’t even in my septum it was against my philtrum in the skin below my septum. i have a long septum and very obvious sweet spot, so there was no way he could have done that and it be understandable. i had to take the piercing out and am now getting it repierced somewhere else. i also know for a fact i am one of MANY customers who have had a bad experience there. the tattoo designs on display looked great, and i cant speak for their tats, but i do not recommend getting a piercing there.

Joe is kind and very talented, he did my 1st ever tattoo and it turned out amazing. James redid my daith piercing and it was quick and easy. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a tattoo or a piercing.

I am soo very impressed with Joe and Artistic Advantage. I explained to Joe what I wanted and he drew it up perfect and exactly how I envisioned in my mind. And this as we know can be a daunting task. All in all, I would definitely drive over 700 miles just to go to see Joe at Artistic Advantage and have much more of my ink done by him or his counterparts. Wonderfully amazingly super spectacular job!!!!

After 2 waisted trips to a shop in summersville my husband and I decided to take a little longer trip down to Artistic Advantage and it was the best decision we coulda made.. not only did they take good care of us but they made us feel so comfortable and right at home and we had some nice conversations with some good people and are tats look awesome! It was my first trip to an actual shop and it was exactly as I imagined it would be!! Highly recommend them!

My grandson went in to make an appointment. The artist was very attentive and opened to the work my grandson wanted. His appointment was made for the following day. He said he was very happy with the tattoo.

I received a septum piercing here and it was not well done at all. I had done my research on the piercing and I knew what it should look and feel like, but, trusting the piercer here, I received the total opposite. The piercing sits so far back in my nose it practically lays on my top lip. And I have a long nose! In fact, the piercer said his goal was to place it between the BONE and the cartilage, and in trusting his judgement I allowed him to do so. I will now have to go somewhere else to have it redone. I noticed another review with a similar issue, but they wrote in a way that led me to believe the error in their case was due to the overwhelming amount of business in the shop at the time. In my circumstance, there were only 3 other customers in the entire shop, and one had already been pierced! The service was nice, but the execution was extremely poor.

Highly recommend. i got my nose pierced there one week ago today , and it is so nicely done. it is already in very good shape , it’s not sore , and the piercer is the best i’ve ever had , i think his name was jack 10/10

Got a tat about 11 years ago on my neck, this place is amazing and they are very caring and clean.

I was very disappointed, I came in here wanting a daith piercing & he said okay the piercer isn’t here but he will be here, well I filled out paper work & sat there for like 20 more mins & I asked how much longer it would be he said he should be getting here well about 10 more minutes went by & this guy walks in covered in sweat tells me to come on back, I wanted to back out then by my husband & sister was like just go ahead get it done it will be fine, we’ll got back there he put some gloves on his hands were so sweaty he could barely get them on , then he gets all his stuff out & cleaned my ear & marks it, bends the needle on some wooden table he has all his supplies on , then pierces my ear then realizes he didn’t open the jewelry & had to get a thing to poke the needle in so it wouldn’t poke my skin, while he’s holding the needle he opens the earring package with his mouth yes his mouth I was like oh my god, then he puts it in cleans it & I pay him 50 dollars & he sends me out the door no paper on how to clean it, what gauge the earring is, nothing! I over heard him talkin to the other guy about moving apparently he lived a few blocks from the shop & was home packing stuff & moving & just ran to the shop to do a piercing, & as soon as he was done with me he left the same time we did & ran back down the block! He was in such a rush , I couldn’t believe how bad of service & stuff it was! Very unprofessional! This was back last summer & I never got around to writing a review & I finally remembered to get on here & write one. I would never go back or recommend anyone to go there!

Went about 5 days ago to get a septum piercing and they totally messed it up. it was crooked and through the cartilage and I had to have it removed today by an actual professional who told me it was done poorly. The cleaning instructions for the piercing were also outdated. Save yourself some time and go somewhere else because I have now found many who have had the same experience.

Absolutely fantastic staff! Jim was so artistic and also catered to the human side of the person. Highly recommend this place! Spent 6 hours in the chair, but was so well worth it.

I came a couple hours before they closed due to the pandemic. they were quick but professional and very kind. i appreciate how they took me as a walk-in. by far my favorite tattoo i have so far.

I got my first tattoo hear back in May and let me just say It was an amazing experience they were super friendly, great hospitality, very clean, and understood what I wanted and they did a great job... Walked in on a whim alone to get my nipples pierced. Very very professional and just really chill. I didn’t feel uncomfortable one second and it actually wasn’t that bad pain wise. Would totally go for future piercings.
