I was searching for an artist who could truly portray the essence of my cherished Boston Terrier. Darius Daniels exceeded my expectations by not only capturing his image but also his character flawlessly. The tattoo of my beloved Eddie, whom I had the privilege of sharing almost 14 years with, by Darius was impeccable in quality, detail, and respect. Upon seeing the finished artwork, I was deeply moved to tears. The genuine compliments from those who loved my boy reaffirmed the exceptional talent and skill of Darius. I am immensely grateful for his work.

Sorry, HCT,but I could not have been more disappointed in you than yesterday. I waited for an hour for walk-in Saturday. I showed the artist the crow tattoo I wanted. He said, 1) thats not a real tattoo; 2) that is too complex; 3) we could do something simple: ,and finally 3) Im sorry, but that is too detailed and we cannot do it on a walk-in.THANK YOU! Out the door, over to Iron Lotus, where Jess was not only more than happy to do my crow, but it is a masterpiece, which I am thrilled to show off.I dont get the hype about HCTC. Go across the street to Iron Lotus.

Great atmosphere! Everyone at the shop was friendly and cool. Eric did an awesome job and the tattoo came out even better than I hoped. I needed to add on to an existing sternum piece and he knew exactly what it needed to open it up and create the look I was going for. It healed up so well too. I will definitely be back!

Absolutely incredible experience. They helped me celebrate a huge milestone and were so accommodating and kind. The artist, Eric Jones, did such a beautiful job on my tattoo. Ive received so many compliments and inquiries as to who did such beautiful work. I hope they follow through and pay him and this establishment a visit. I was planning on completing my latest in April but will be returning before then to get a few more. Extremely professional, very clean and just so kind. Love this tattoo shop! Almost every tattoo I have is from HCT. They are professional, clean, and do great work every time. Every artist there is very talented.

Outstanding work and professionalism. Margo was my artist and truly captured the essence of what I wanted to the point what she presented for approval was better than I had even asked for. The office was super clean and everyone working there helpful and courteous. Loved Margo and her attitude and artistic ability. She offered advise on colors and shading while listening to my questions and keeping my ideas in the forefront as well.I couldnt imagine getting my work done anywhere else!

Eric was great in helping finalize the design of my new tattoo and was quick and professional throughout. Super nice and made me feel comfortable the whole time. The other staff that were there were super friendly as well. Highly recommend!

I can’t say enough good things about Ashley B. She’s incredibly kind and will make you feel at home while she works to help pass the time. Her attention to detail in amazing and some of the things she can do are unmatched in the Charleston area. If you’re looking for an artist I would highly recommend her. 10/10

I haven’t been tattooed in charleston before and was shopping around. A friend insisted I would be well taken care of here - she’s been going here for years - and that was 100% true. Trish at the desk was so welcoming and sweet. The entire vibe was chill and welcoming. The place was very clean and the experience was really professional. What I wanted didn’t require a specific style and I was tattooed by Nick on a walk-in and he was passing thru town so I can’t recommend anyone specific but all the work I saw looked great. I will definitely come back here for my next tattoo.

Ive gotten pieces done by Amber and Brittanie now. They are both extremely talented, professional, and personable artists. Ive seen the rest of the artists work too; this place is not only stacked, but also such a welcoming and safe environment. Trish and Dalton are incredible receptionists. They are both kind and honest with any questions I’ve had. Margo is my main artist style choice, but I’ve had beautiful work from Christian and Brittanie too. Most of my best friends go here as well, I would recommend them to anyone. All of the artist are Extremely skilled. It took so long to find such a comfortable and supportive place for any wild tattoo idea to flourish.I think Trish and I are totally friends now~

Margo nailed my tattoo that I wanted to commemorate my sister. Beautiful job and she had great suggestions along the way that made it just perfect. Very easy to talk to and she does outstanding work! Had to wait almost all day since it was walk-in day. Once in, Brittney however was professional, helpful and did an awesome job on my first tattoo. My friend also got one and hers turned out beautiful too! Ill go back for my second one!

Come here if you want to be respected and taken seriously! The prices are incredibly fair, the artists are both friendly and understanding, and the receptionist is sweet with a kind stature. I have never had a better experience nor have I ever felt so comfortable in a tattoo shop like that before.

I have been coming to Holy City for many years and have never left feeling anything but over the moon. I have been tattooed by Jason, Amber, and largely by Margo. All are personable and have the utmost priority in cleanliness and professionalism. Every single person is treated like they are the most important client to step into that door. I love every one in this shop and I love coming here. I get so many compliments every day on my work and i recommend this shop and its artists to every one that comments. Ill see you guys soon!

WOW! I cannot say enough good things about our experience with Darius Daniels!Over our spring break vacation, my sister and I were looking to get matching tattoos. We did not have any idea where to go, so we looked at the best rated places in Charleston. We saw HCTC highly rated, and decided to give them a call. Luckily, Darius had a cancellation, so we were able to go in within the hour. The woman working the phone and counter was very nice, I wish I knew her name to give her a shout out. We showed Darius our inspiration photos, and he designed two pieces unique to what my sister and I wanted to coordinate. Each of our tattoos took about 20 minutes each. He had enough time for another piece before his next appointment, so he also did a flash piece on my brother in-law!In full disclosure to aid in a complete review, the prices of the tattoos were $150, $150, and $160 respectively.I would have never expected such amazing line work and an overall amazing experience from a walk-in appointment. It was a very positive experience and I wish I lived closer to see him again. He was very patient - as my mother was also in the shop - and he answered all of her questions about the tattooing process. He had a very upbeat and fun attitude, overall great dude!The following photos are my sister and I’d coordinating pink promise tattoos, and my brother in-law’s skeleton fingers crossed tattoo.

It was a breath of fresh air walking into Holy City. I had gotten my first tattoo 2 months ago at a different shop and I just wasnt thrilled with the result. Christian hooked me up and transformed it into something Im proud to show off. I went from an artist that didnt seem to care to the completely opposite. If I ever get another tattoo, Id definitely go back to Christian.

I absolutely love HCTC and all of the artists there! Everyone is so nice and welcoming there. Brittanie has been my artist since we moved here and I am SO glad Ive found her! Shes so patient with me, such a great artist, and is absolutely amazing to work with. I get compliments on my tattoos daily! Shes captured every part of my tattoos exactly how I imagined, my half sleeve looks perfect, and the cover up / thigh tattoo were working on is coming out beautifully, shes freehanded part of it and her artistry skills are incredible. Jason (the owner) is an excellent human, Ive seen some incredible work from him and from Margo, Elias, and Ashley. Margo did a little flash for my sister in law and it was SO clean and incredible.

Margo was phenomenal, in fact the whole staff was friendly and inviting. Completely professional and very clean. Full sleeve of custom art and color done at a fair price in a timely fashion. I get compliments on it every day. I cant wait to get back for more work. I would highly recommend Holy City for anyone who wants a great tattoo.

Trish is the worst receptionist Ive ever come in contact with. I called two weeks prior to my visit to ask for an appointment with Jason. Trish informed me that Jason had no appointments available until early September, and my best chance to get a tattoo by him was to come on a Saturday when they accepted walk-ins. I decided to come two weeks later on a saturday for a walk-in. I arrived at 11:40 and there was a line of about 20 people. Thats to be expected, no surprises there. After waiting in line, I got an appointment at 4:30. I asked if it would be possible to get my tattoo done by Jason. Trish then told me that Jason doesnt do walk-ins. I still decide to get my tattoo, just with an artist named Darius, instead. At 2:00, Trish called me and asked me if I could come in at 5:00. I was cool with that. I drove back to the studio and arrived around 4:45. I was then told, by trish, that my artist would be Justin instead of Darius. No explanation, but who am I to complain? This is basically still a walk-in appointment. About 30 minutes after I arrived back at the tattoo studio, two young ladies walked in and were asking if there were any cancelations for the day since they werent able to get an appointment earlier. Trish informs them that they could actually get in with Jason because he was still waiting for his last client to show up. I let it go, completely happenstance. The two chicks ended up not getting their tattoos(Happy belated birthday to them and Darius, btw). So I walked up next to them and asked Trish if Id be able to take their appointment with Jason because thats who I had wanted to be tattooed by originally. She said no, so that was that. Everything else was cool, though. Thats why Im giving 5 stars. I like the way the work came out, and it was worth the wait. Justin is a great artist and very detail oriented. I ended up getting to meet Jason, and he was a really cool guy. Told me some stories about James Island and Baltimore. I also met a red-haired young woman who was an artist as well. Super cool, we talked about a little Greek mythology while I got my wrist done. Thanks to everyone for being dope. Except Trish, were not friends

I got tattooed tonight by the absolutely lovely Brittanie! I got the cutest little traditional locket on my forearm and she couldn’t have done a better job with free styling a portion I had a shoddy reference picture for, AND also made it look BETTER than what I showed her. I’ve gotten tattooed as well by Amber in the past and I get compliments every single day and will forever recommend both of them. Even the atmosphere was so positive and made me feel incredibly comfortable when it’s common to feel uncomfortable when needles are going into your skin, haha! Finally, the rest of the artists and staff I’ve met are equally as amazing. Thank you so much Holy City — I will be coming back!!

I’ve gotten multiple amazing tattoos from Margo at HCTC, including a full sleeve. She’s great to talk to, and extremely talented - the last two pieces I told her an idea of what I wanted to come together since I’m not that artistic myself, and she brought it together better than I could have ever imagined. Vibrant and beautiful work. She is pretty much the only artist I’ll let tattoo me at this point, and on my last trip to SC, my bf got an awesome piece done by her that is his absolute favorite. The shop is clean, professional, and friendly. Also while I find the prices to be quite fair for the quality received, remember you get what you pay for, for those who complain it’s “too much”.

Jason and his crew are all wonderfully talented artists. Margo has been tattooing me for years and I have never once been disappointed! If your looking for top quality tattoos, in a clean and sterile environment, look no further. On a side note, they aren’t only amazing artists, they are also amazing human beings!

Holy City is the best place to get a tattoo. Christian Elias is an amazing artist who helped me turn a walk in into a full sleeve, even working around an old tattoo. Everything about Holy City makes you feel like youre in the right place, from the consultation to the check in to the actual tattooing. Each person Ive met there has been welcoming; truly you cant beat the vibes.

From start to finish everyone made the process so easy. They communicate with you and work with you to make sure you leave with an awesome piece (have yet to see a bad one). When you walk in they make you feel welcomed and comfortable. Everyone is awesome and the owner Jason is doing an amazing job. Could not recommend them enough!

Love this place! The artists are amazing, professional, and extremely skilled. The quality of work is worth the wait for an appointment. They take their time with their designs and customize it to fit your body in an appropriate manner. They will tell you if a piece is too busy, and make it work in your favor so that you’re happy and ecstatic about your new tattoo. Having their work on your body is a badge of honor and I love showing mine off.

Got my first tattoo here. The entire staff was super friendly and just made the process ten times easier. My artist made the time very enjoyable and the completed tattoo looked even beter than I thought it would be. I cant wait to return and have the opportunity to be worked on by other artists. This is the place to go for a first time or new tattoo and it will be a place I return to ASAP!

My experience with this shop was first rate. They are fun loving, full of kindness, and world class professionals. The owner, Jason, is personable and shows a genuine interest in every person that walks through the door.My tattooer, AshleyB, was brilliant, helped me make a great choice during the consult, and was able to get me in fairly quickly, despite her busy schedule. If you’re looking for an American Traditional artist, she’s excellent.The shop is cozy and clean. In fact, I was impressed with their commitment to public safety and hospital grade sterilization & sanitation.Lastly, HCTC feels like a “real tattoo shop.” Their vibe is unique and super rad. Flash sheets and art on nearly every wall. A gum ball machine on the counter for people wanting a quick flash piece. Artist’s designing tattoos on their iPads or putting fresh ink on their clients in every room. This crew is the real deal. Don’t gamble with the street shops around town - come here instead!

I walked in on a busy Saturday to get matching tattoos with a friend. Darius did both of ours and was amazing!!! They are beautiful and we are so happy!

This was my first tattoo. It was in memory of our amazing daughter (20) who passed away after battling cancer for three years. I spoke with Jason and he understood how personal and emotional this was for me. He was so compassionate, as was the whole shop, and put me at ease. I now have Hannahs signature on my wrist forever and I am so very thankful for Jason and Holy City Tattoo. I highly recommend them.

I came in to the shop with some old artwork on my arm that was very much pieced together. Originally I sought out Margo as my artist but after a couple consultations she told me that my chosen subject matter (Japanese Dragon) was best left to Jason. I trusted her advice and after three sessions with Jason, I have a cohesive half sleeve that looks fantastic ! I was very nervous before going and I thought I was going to need to get a lot of laser to cover up some of my older tattoos that I was not happy with. Instead Jason was able to use his talent and skill to weave through the old pieces with the new seamlessly.This shop is in high demand and you can tell that when you enter. I was referred by multiple friends. No artist I met at the shop seems starving for business and that’s a good thing. High demand=reputable and talented. I waited patiently for my scheduled dates, arrived on time and had a great experience. Looking forward to going back for more work soon.

Oh MAN! I went tonight to get 2 tattoos done by Miss Amber and wasn’t disappointed! She talked to me the whole time and even was willing to take some photos for me afterwards. The staff are all so kind! I was also pretty happy with how clean and Covid safe they were. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is needing a tattoo in the area. I’m very happy with my results!

Margo did mine and my siblings tats a couple of weeks ago. We went in there with the same tat which was specially designed by my brothers talented girlfriend so it was very special and meaningful for us. Margo did an excellent job and her personable attitude is excellent. Looking forward to her doing the next tats on me.

Good work. Ive been disappointed before to get small tattoos in the Charleston area that ive had my tattoo guy in myrtle beach fix them. I gave it another try though and I found Holy city just looking at their work online I was going to go with brittanie. Brittanie did fantastic! Super chill, steady hand, straight lines! and stays focused while being spoken to when shes tattooing thats what I liked that she didnt steer away from her work until she got that line done or that part shaded in. So end result was great. Sorry your back was hurting but I appreciate your back suffering for an hour. Im Happy. Wouldnt go anywhere else in Charleston.

Jason is a very good guy. Got my large back tattoo from Margo Venomous. Exceptional quality, very detailed, and beautiful color and design! She will be doing the rest of my tattoos!

My sister and I got tattoos together since we live so far apart. When we called to make the appointment we explained to the girl on the phone what we wanted. Before coming in we asked how much the price would be. The girl that answered expressed that it was $60 minimum, but not much more than that. All we got done was three words and after the session he charged us $120 EACH! I have tattoos with the same amount of work that have cost $80. When asked about the $60 minimum I’m and why it was $120 each he said the new minimum is $100. There was a sign sitting on the counter when we asked about it he said it was for a semicolon. When he was telling us how much to charge us he really had to think about it “$120…….. each”. The work was good, but they definitely take advantage of you.

I have been tattooed by Jason numerous times, and tattooed by Dennis once. I have never had a bad experience with either of them. They are very professional, clean, and hands down the BEST artists in the Charleston area. I recommend them to everyone I meet.

This is a very professional group of tattoo artists whose ethics are top notch. They are very friendly and work hard to give you the tattoo you want. They do, however, work by appointment only. The exception to this being their walk-in Saturdays. When my daughters were old enough Jason is who I took them to for their first tattoo. I am so excited to be going there for a cover-up of a tattoo I got elsewhere.

The tattoo work done on my fiance and I was good, but the pricing was a little high. My tattoo was just 3 words, 10 inches or so in total length and it ran me $200. $100 more then I couldve possibly gotten elsewhere. Hers was a small calf tattoo no bigger then 3 inches by 3 inches and was charged $100. The artists were very nice and friendly and we had a good experience it was just pricier then what I have gotten in the past.

Hands down THE most excellent Tattoo shop in Charleston SC and the surrounding areas. Jason and Margo are top notch and you are a fool if you let anyone other than Jason or Margo tattoo you. I adore the tattoo that Jason made on my inner wrist and they are both friendly yet utmost professionals at their craft.

Got Margo to draw something up for me to commemorate my grandpa. Loved the piece she created for me. Loved that she included all the things I wanted in the piece. Appreciated that she kept checking in during the session to make sure I was doing okay. And love her personality. 😂 Def will get her to do more of my tattoos in the future.

There are very few reviews I will take the time to write. Frankly I think it is better to talk with someone personally who has used that business’ services. That said, I started going to this shop on a walk in Saturday. It was to get matching tats with my sweetie. I fell in love! I have never felt so welcomed in a place. Brittanie is my artist, but they are all fantastic. I had no ink prior to that walk-in, but the experience was so awesome...I got three more; one of which is a leg sleeve that is nearing completion.

Dennis did a GREAT job on my tattoo! It was my first one and I had struggled with the design for a while. The tattoo was for my grandson who died at only 2 months old, so it had to be perfect. Dennis was so helpful and was very kind to a first timer...lol! The place was clean and Dennis was meticulous about his instruments...I will go back again!

It has been a little while since getting my first tattoo for my 18th birthday and Ive been considering getting another one and I was curious as to what other people had to say about this place and I was surprised by the bad reviews. I went in with something I had drawn as an idea and the artist talked with me about changing it a little bit and I agreed, after seeing his sketch I couldnt wait to see it done. He did an amazing job taking my idea and creating a beautiful tattoo. The people there were great as well. Since it was my first tattoo I was a little nervous about how much it might hurt but the people there helped me calm down and I am grateful for it. I ended up with a beautiful tattoo and had an over all great experience.

If youre interested in one of a kind tattooing in a great atmosphere, Holy City is the only shop you should be going to. The staff is welcoming and ready to work with you on your design. The shop is spotless and thankfully theyre meticulous about keeping it so. Great people make a great place.

I have nothing but praise for the entire staff at Holy City Tattoo, they dont make you feel unwelcome, uncomfortable or beneath them when you walk in the door. I use Jason for my tattoos and Ive never had such a knowledgeable professional tattooist do such clean work on me. A true student of the art of tattooing, I wouldnt even consider going anywhere else. Next thing is for him to fix a technically horrible tattoo on my wife that was done at a shop very close to them. I would without hesitation recommend them to anyone.

I have followed Britt around for my tats. She is awesome. My tats mean a lot to me and I love them. She makes it very addicting because all her work is so good. I would recommend her to anyone!

I went to Holy City for my first tattoo and am blown away. Brittanie did an incredible job. I asked her what the pain would be like and she responded by saying something along the lines of “The pain you are going to feel today wont compare to the happiness you’re going to feel once it’s finished.” She was 110% right. I searched for years for someone to complete my 3/4 sleeve tattoo. As soon as I walked into holy city I felt welcomed and was greeted by an artist. Not someone that wanted me to pick a design from a book or the internet.I felt completely at home and with such a large piece this was important to me as I would be spending alot of time there. Great staff, recommend them to everyone I get stopped daily asking who did my tattoo. Ill be coming back soon for my next piece!

I gave Margo a concept and a general sketch and asked her to use her artistic judgment. She created the most beautiful shoulder pauldron - above and beyond what I could have imagined - which I am proud to wear as a tribute to my GG and grandmother. There isnt another shop Id let tattoo me. They are attentive and go over everything with you long before they even get to the tattooing part. They are reasonable and would rather tell you no than doing something that is going to turn out less than perfect. Me, siblings, parents, friends ... Ive brought many, many people here. Never a complaint and their ink is STILL stunning.

Went here on a whim with a group of friends we were vacationing with. Amber was able to get us all in, quick, clean, efficient, and reasonably priced. We are all very happy with what we got.

I have work from Margo, Jason, Brittany, and Amber and I have nothing but high praise. They are clean, professional, and kind, and worked with me to create the perfect compositions and placements. Looking forward to working with them many more times in the future.

Brittanie was super awesome. she truly loves and is passionate about her job and tattoos shes almost fully covered herself. I got exactly what I wanted and she is drawing up a diabetic tat for my husband. Shes very good at getting what you want drawn and open to changes. Also Me and my husband had our 2 sons with us ages 8 and 11 and she was totally cool with the kids being there(as long as thet are well behaved which i totally get) and our boys are, the waiting area although separated looks into work area so kids could see. It was cool to have my boys there and show them new things and experiences. Shop is very mom and pop-ish style building but clean and welcoming with the feeling of more intimate and hands on approach. Unlike a lot of other uptight and selfrighteous shops and artists around.

Christian does amazing work. He’s extremely creative and has such clean line work. I highly recommend him if you’re looking for a tattoo artist in Charleston.

Great artists hands down. My wife and I drive from south Ga to Charleston to get tattooed by these guys. Brittanie has done several of my daughters tattoos and is in the process of doing a large chest piece for me. Going anywhere else is a waste of time.

I have been working on my Japanese inspired 3/4 sleeve with Dennis Hickman at Holy City Tatooing Collective. While I was searching around Charleston for a tattoo artist, I found it difficult to find someone that had the experience and the creativity that I was looking for in an artist. After much searching, I met Dennis Hickman. With his polished professionalism and his positive attitude, Dennis has been a joy to work with. We have made it through three sessions, and I am looking forward to having him complete my sleeve.

Jason has done several custom pieces for me, all of which Im extremely happy with. The ones that he did years ago are still holding pristine color and form. These folks are professionals with integrity, and that is definitely not something that you find at every shop.

Jason is by far the best Tattoo artist I have ever been to and the only one I will ever go to. I dont care where I am in the world I am coming back here. The guy is a total pro, an artist and gentleman. You WILL NOT find better than HCTC.

Most unprofessional tattoo staff Ive dealt with. They couldnt be more unhappy to have to tattoo you. Trying to get one of them to sit down and actually tattoo you is almost impossible. Dont listen to the positive reviews, most likely friends and family.
