10/10 recommend this place to anyone and everyone that will listen. Heather and Victoria are not only incredibly friendly and welcoming (and inclusive), but equally as talented and knowledgeable. I’ve been getting tattoos across the course of 17 years now, and can easily say that this shop continually provides the best experience I’ve ever had. So, so glad I stumbled upon this place.

First just wanted to say probably one of the best experiences I’ve had getting tattooed. The shop was so chill and clean. Nice laidback vibes with some awesome artwork throughout the shop. Started my head piece with Sam. Which he was super chill and was light handed and quick! Like I said probably the best experience I’ve had and I’ve been getting worked done on and off for like 15yrs. Definitely recommend and will definitely be getting more of my work done there! Should definitely check them out!

Mama Tried is the Tattoo parlor that you want to go to and SAM is YOUR MAN! I felt welcomed as I soon as I walked in. Lyndi is a sweetheart and you can just feel her energy. ✨Mama Tried has homey, comfy vibe. SAM is beyond phenomenal, He is so talented! I am so impressed with his work. He is A NATURAL & I am 10000000000000000000% positive you will love him and his wok as well! His personality is so warm, I felt like I have known him for years. A beautifully curated shop filled with art, plants, and good vibes. Lyndi always makes me feel like a friend. She consistently keeps my comfort in mind and pays close attention to my skin and how it is reacting to the process. I love my tattoos and get compliments on them constantly. It makes me proud to have this art on my skin and that I can say an amazing woman created them. 💕

Ive seen multiple negative reviews and comments about this shop owner, so Ive decided to share my experience in the hope that others will not get harmed. Lyndi did a couple of large projects on me that took around a year. She bulldozed past professional and personal boundaries, increasingly behaving inappropriately. Lyndi would regularly put herself in my physical space outside of tattoo sessions and behave how I can only describe as flirty. She insisted on giving me multiple expensive gifts, including refusing to allow me to pay for a session. That may seem nice, but we didnt know each other like that at all. It all made me very uncomfortable. I tried to talk to Lyndi about boundaries, but I received junior-high level gaslighting, antagonization, and the predatory cliche of I was just being nice. Additionally, my tattoos have blowouts and the lines are raised with scar tissue. I highly recommend looking elsewhere. There are much better and safer options available in Louisville.

I’ve had a half dozen apts with shop owner Lyndi (working on a full arm sleeve) and she’s nothing short of amazing; her line work is impecable, her knowledge is trusted and she’s just a down to earth, humble artist. I’m thankful for her time and skill set! You rock!

Ive known Lyndi for years, well before she opened her own shop. Not only is she a talented artist, shes one of the best people I know. With Mama Tried, she has cultivated an environment that is so comfortable and welcoming, and a group of artists that are not only outstanding artists but wonderful people as well. You wont be disappointed by your tattoo or your overall experience Id you go to Mama Tried.

Do NOT get tattooed by the owner, Lyndi Lou. I needed a very simple thin black line work tattoo. What I got was thick, blobby lines that look like a child took a marker to me. Now I have to live with this ugly tattoo on my left wrist forever, because I wanted to support a woman-owned parlor. Never again will I be so charitable. I cannot believe I got such a bad tattoo from a studio owner.

I recently found an envelope containing pictures of my grandmother and I together and she had written “Lulu” on the front, which was her nickname for me. I took this envelope to Jared and he gave me my first ever tattoo! It’s beautiful, it’s perfect, exactly what I wanted. I got it done yesterday and I have no discomfort whatsoever. He was professional, kind, funny, and his portfolio is insane. Everyone at this studio is so talented, I can’t imagine going anywhere else! I’ll be back!

Best tattoo shop in Louisville! I work with Lyndi Lou. Lyndi is a great collaborator and a joy to work with. I get so many compliments on my tattoos. I couldnt ask for a better place to go or tattoo artist to work with. If you are looking to get a new tattoo, I recommend Mama Tried hands down.

I had a difficult and large cover up tattoo done by Jared. He did an outstanding job and exceeded all of my expectations. Jared was nice as hell and not to mention, a great artist. My tattoo even ended up being cheaper than the very reasonable price he quoted me. All the other artists I interacted with were were very friendly as well. Would recommend Mama Tried and Jared to anyone who seeks talent and professionalism.

I had a great experience with Bob Million for my first tattoo as a walk-in client. He was very nice & explained everything thoroughly. He checked up on me during the tattoo. Everyone there was very nice during my experience. The whole shop is very comforting & I would love to go back.

Lyndi, owner of Mama Tried, is amazing! She has done 4 medium to large tattoos for me, because I am so in love with her style. She is great at mixing old school inspiration with a softer (almost antiqued) color palette and additional detail line work. My tattoos really have an illustrative quality to them. You can tell she is an artist first! She is very professional and makes you feel at ease instantly. She places a large concern on tattooing properly as to not damage the skin, so it is as painless as possible and your tattoo will maintain its integrity through the years. I have brought several friends to her, because I trust her implicitly!!

After my significant other passed away, Bob Million at Mama Tried was able to recreate a tattoo she had on her ankle from a couple of not very good photos. He was easy to work with, extremely reasonably priced, and I barely felt a thing.I received excellent aftercare instructions and it healed quicker than I expected with very little scabbing. Additionally Bob offered to help with any touch-ups that might be needed, but so far I dont believe that will be needed.Quality work, a clean inviting place of business, and a friendly staff. What more can you ask for?

What an awesome shop! I have 2 tattoos by Lyndi and love them! She captured my kittys personality perfectly and really captured the whimsical style I was hoping for. Aside from her tattooing talent, her rapport with her clients is spectacular. She makes a painful experience a fun one :P

We were a walk-in group of 5, and Lyndi and Victoria did an awesome job of taking care of us! They did a great job, and were very friendly. Their work is amazing, and I hope to use them again in the future. Would definitely recommend! 👍👍

Lyndi is an AMAZING artist, and one of my favorites in Louisville! She does amazing work with both lines and color, she is extremely nice and fun to hang out with while she does work on you. By far one of the best tattoo artists in the city -- definitely seek her out if youre looking for something special.

Lyndi has done almost all of my ink. Professional and kind, Lyndi treats everyone who enters like they are family. Mama Tried has not been open for long, but its great to see how successful it is doing. She had amassed a substantial following over her years of tattooing before she even opened this shop, and she really doesnt need anyone to sing her praises. Im going to anyway, though. Her dedication, kindness, skill, and hard work speaks for itself. As long as Lyndi is in town, you wont see me getting a tat anywhere else.

Beautiful and clean shop, charming design and interior. Brilliant and inviting art all throughout. I felt at home with both the space and artists. My piece turned out wonderful (the following day it doesnt even feel like I got a tattoo yesterday). I will be returning for all of my future pieces. Jared was my artist and by the end I felt like I made a friend. Solid people and place.
