My 8 year old has asked for ear piercings for a year. I waited to see if it was a phase, that they understood proper care and were ready. When that time came, I knew to call Tattoo Charlies. Buddy was a great source of information regarding best time to pierce (not summer, due to swimming) and highly recommended Greg. I was easily able to obtain forms from the website for notary regarding age and consent. Greg was so great with my kiddo and explained all things! We are so happy with our experience and look forward to buying new bling with yall when theyre healed.

My teenage daughter made a poorly informed decision to remove her nose piercing acquired elsewhere too soon and could not get it back in afterwards. We contacted Tattoo Charlies and they were willing to stay late to assist her as long as we made it before a certain time.The service was amazing (thank you Greg) Not only did they work quickly to prevent her nose piercing from closing up they helped her pick out adorable jewelry with a safer construction material to ensure that she would not suffer further irritation going forward.Ive been intimidated to go into this place my entire adult life but Im pleased how professional and friendly all the staff were to my family. Will be going here for all our future piercing and tattoo needs.

I have been to this location 3 times and my husband once. He is cutting the works of a sleeve. Paul E Clark is amazing. His work is beautiful. I get compliments everywhere. Not to mention both mine and my husbands work has been several hours of sitting and every time has been an absolute blast. It’s like hanging out with your best friend which makes the whole process a lot easier. Thank you so much. You will always have us as clients!

So this is my second time coming to this location, and I have to say I am very pleased with the service and process of getting a tattoo here. I came with my girlfriend and we were both tattooed by Paul, he is funny and keeps the mood light the whole time for an easygoing experience and makes the process enjoyable. His work is very detailed and I know from both of us we couldn’t be happier with our new tattoos. The mood and environment is comfortable and with it being my girlfriends first tattoo it was very much appreciated.

I was suuuper nervous and not 100% sure about things like size and placement, but the artist (and all the staff really) were so cool and didnt make me feel guilty for not having all my ducks in a row before coming.Then he fit me into his schedule (I was a walk-in with my sister) and did a really great job with all the black saturation and consistent and the lines smooth.

I got two small tattoo for $100. The artist was Justin but I noticed his hand was a little shaky when he was tattoo me. I still like the tattoos but will be sticking with my regular tattoo artist.

They ALL were very professional, educated, and welcoming! I had alot of questions and they answered them without me feeling dumb. I walked in and made an appointment with Luitt and he was amazing, I would definitely refer anyone to him, hes a great tattoo artist and very professional! I will be goin back there to get all my tattoos and piercings!

I’m a trucker driver, one of my daith piercings broke, I was told by someone at the mall of this shop, where I could buy a replacement piercing, that way my hole wouldn’t grow shut before I get back home to North Carolina to get it replaced. The guy who assisted me informed me that the body piercer was busy and he couldn’t help me. I explained that all I needed was a replacement earring, they had several behind the glass. He still refused to help me, he said his piercer was busy all day and that’s her gig, not his. It’s a dang shame to turn away a paying customer, especially one with an emergency situation, just because you can’t be bothered to help. I don’t live in Kentucky but even if I did, I wouldn’t give this place my business. Common courtesy goes a long way nowadays.

Worked with Justin on this star trek themed tattoo and love the final product. Justin was easy to work with and great to chat with while getting the tattoo. 100% recommend this shop, and especially Justin!

Got my first piercings ever here. Ear lobes by Jess and they did a fantastic job! They were super sweet and knowledgable. They took time to walk me through what they were doing and went over aftercare in lots of detail. Would highly recommend them if youre looking to get a piercing :)

Just got my first tattoo here and had a wonderful experience! Came as a walk-in and got some simple lettering on my forearm. Joel did a fantastic job and was very apologetic about my wait (even though it wasnt that bad---as a walk-in, its kind of what you sign up for). He went over all the little details I may want to think through regarding the placement and subsequent care of my tattoo, and I felt very comfortable the whole time. Definitely no feeling of condescension as I had feared (this being my first time and all). I loved the whole experience and will be back again whenever I think of what to get next! I have a sleeve done by Paul E Clark. The tattoo shop/studio was amazing and spacious. Lots of displays and memorabilia. The artist (Paul) was amazing, straight up with all his answers, no sugar coating very honest and help me get grounded since I was very worried that I was the only one on the planet with attention to detail lol. He was very meticulous in every step of the tattoo procedure and knows what he is doing and is at a very high caliber when it comes to professionalism as an artist and dealing with his clients/customers. Made me feel at home, like a relative that I hadnt see in a long time, put me at ease and did an amazing job on the sleeve/ tattoo. I will return to Tattoo Charlies on Preston Hwy to continue this new journey tattooing my body, Im now looking forward to my next appointment with Paul E Clark! I’m not typically one to write reviews but tattoo Charlie’s and the artist deserve all the recognition! Me and my gals went in for three scheduled piercing appointments with Jess and it was BEYOND wonderful. Greg was apprenticing under her as well and they were both so fun to work with, and helped us pick great jewelry and piercings. Before leaving, we got to talking to Pauly and he ended up doing some sick walk in tattoos for all of us. I’ve been coming to Charlie’s since my first tattoo at 18 and it’s where I always go, but this time and these three really stood out.

Not my first but second time being turned away. For? Respectfully, I do respect appointments etc. However, it’s says you take walk ins and the chairs were completely empty. When I was told to make an appointment or call the next day to check for availability. I was then told there’s no guarantee that they would get to me. Oh, well! Life goes on RIGHT. If you’re able to get on the list or want a tattoo they have some really cool pieces on their website so check them out.

First I made an appointment with Jess and when I got there the day of my appointment, Jess did not do my piercing like I requested, it was a totally different person. The guy that did do my piercing was super nice and thorough, but I do believe he pierced my nose at too high of an angle. It was also a decent price for the piercing too, just not happy I made an appointment with a person I had followed for a long time hoping they would do it, and it was someone totally different.

Very clean and safe environment. Staff is very friendly. Darin did an awesome job on my tattoo. Will be back again!

I went in the other day for a nostril piercing (I already had one side done by another shop and had never been happy with it and it’s never healed right) - Joshua Spriggs did this piercing and he was AWESOME. Super clean, gentle and informative, my piercing is exactly where I wanted it. Totally different experience here than what I’d previously had at the other places I’ve gone and I just wanted to thank him for doing such a great job. I’ll be going back to him for all future piercings. Thank you!!!!!

This was my first tattoo experience and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Paul was both me and my boyfriends artist, and made the process super easy and comfortable for me as it was a rib cage tattoo. It was painful, as expected but so worth it and I would do it a thousand times over again for the outcome I had when I left. I will definitely be back for more and if you’re looking to get one done, this is the place to go.

Would not spend my time or money here if you are African American! They will not work with or accommodate you.They refused to communicate via phone with us prior to our appointments and were not understanding at all when we arrived. The person behind the counter with bleached hair was very rude over the phone and in person and quite literally told us It did not matter that we called ahead to let someone know we would be late. Very unprofessional and unwelcoming. Was excited to spend my time and money with you guys!

Jess was so nice, so helpful and I felt really comfortable with her. Make sure you make an appointment online, it’s super easy to do (I wish all businesses had this option). Because of the appt I had plenty of time to look at all the jewelry- they have the best selection I’ve seen. It took me quite a while to decide on what I wanted but Jess never rushed me and gave me good suggestions. I appreciated how she told me exactly what to expect before piercing me. I will definitely be back.

I got my naval pierced there and i dont regret the decision to come here AT ALL!!! The customer service was amazing and I love how it turned out and that I didnt pay an arm && a leg for it. My party called 3 days ahead to book an appointment for my friend’s simple ear lobe piercing. On our way, we realized we would be exactly 5 mins late per Google maps. We respectfully called en route to notify them and ask if we could still hold onto our appt. They reassured us that we could keep our appt as long as we were not more than 10 mins late. We arrived 5 and half minutes after our scheduled appt time. As soon as we walked in the door, they had already made their minds that we were not welcome nor was my friend getting her ear’s pierced. They claimed that they needed 45 minutes to “make sure everything is ok”. Though disappointed, we accepted their response. As we turned around to head out the door, one of the workers said “we will have to keep your deposit” but couldn’t tell us how much the deposit was. After looking at the two other women sitting at the front desk on their phones, they settled on $20. Needless to say, we were flabbergasted and frustrated given we called ahead of time and was told we would be able to keep our appt. We will not be returning nor will we recommend this business to any of our friends.

Got my septum pierced by Joshua and i couldn’t ask for a better experience. Price was great, instructions on aftercare were very clear and this is the only place in town i will get pierced at in the future!

Referred by a close friend in the industry when trying to find a good place for our daughter. So called and the staff was very friendly and inviting they advised us on Kentucky requirements and walked us through every step including how to find the proper paperwork on their site and setup appointments through their site.Let’s be clear this was an amazing experience all in itself and speaks volume to the staff and family that owns this business. This is how you know your talking with professionals in their industry and makes a world of difference in how you know your going to walk into a friendly professional setup. I’m glad my buddy was on point with his recommendation and will post a follow up review after our experience but this was a great experience that gained client trust and overall an inviting business that really showed they love what they do! The people are so kind here! Theyre great at making you feel welcome and relaxed. Safety is their #1 concern and theyre very strict about cleanliness and rules, which is great. Theyre also very knowledgeable and informative! 10/10 will be coming back for more piercings and tattoos.

I got my piercing done by Jessika and she was the best piercer I’ve ever had! I’ve had both sides of my nose pierced and my belly button done at other piercing places and they hurt 10x more than at tattoo Charlie’s! Jessika talked me through the whole process and made sure everything was clean. Best piercer I’ve ever had I completely recommend her 10/10. Amazing!

I’ve been to this location now three times. I’ve gotten two tattoos and one nose piercing. I’ve brought my sister along for a piercing and tat as well, and we’ve both been happy with the service we’ve received. Joel is super nice. Like I truly appreciate his patience. He doesn’t make you feel bad about moving things around a bunch. He wanted to make sure that you’re 100% happy with what you’re getting. He even picked up on stuff I didn’t notice at first glance and it took upon himself to make adjustments before beginning the tat. This is the second tat I’ve had from him, and when/if I get another I’ll be back in to Tattoo Charlie’s.

I feel like the prices on piercings are a little to high, and the person doing the piercing could have tried to be more personable. She did a good job, but refusing to take a walk-in when youre not busy is bad business. You just dont feel welcomed, even with a appointment. 😟

My first ever tattoo was a memorial tattoo for my grandparents. Darin did a great job. The color has yet to fade it looks just as beautiful as the day I had it done. Not only that, but it is such a clean environment, they take out all equipment in front of you so you see it right of the sterilized packages. They also are great at educating you on how to care for your new tattoo to give it the best color and healing process! Wonderful people!

I got my nose pierced and it was the first piercing I have had besides my ears and she was so kind and helpful explaining everything and she made me feel confident that I was at the right place. The whole experience was wonderful from her being really excited when I said I was there for a piercing to her actually piercing me.

Came in yesterday to get (my first!) tattoo done. Entire staff very friendly and pleasant to interact with, the parlor and atmosphere were very comfortable, and it was an all around brilliant experience! The artists are very friendly and straightforward, and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The tattoo itself wasnt any more painful than youd expect, and it turned out exactly as I wanted it, though I did have an exact image of what I wanted. The artist made sure I understood the aftercare procedure, and in general was an all-around joy to interact with! I fully recommend Tattoo Charlies.

Stephen did an awesome job making sure the placement of my tattoo was on point! It took 4 tries but he wanted to make sure it was perfect. I was super thankful that Buddy worked with me on using a gift certificate from Christmas 2019 since the world got crazy with Covid. Tattoo Charlies is hands down the best place Ive ever been to! I have gotten 4 out of 6 of my tattoos from there and each one is amazing. Plus the artist there are amazing, they work with you to get you the best tattoo! My recent work was done by Pike back in March, he is wonderful like the rest of the artist there.

I got the most beautiful watercolor tattoo from Elli! I showed her the design I wanted to base it off of, and she made adjustments for sizing and placement and added to it, so what I ended up with went far above my expectations. It was the longest session Ive ever had, but she made sure I had plenty of breaks when needed and she kept up great conversation the whole. I brought my son here for his first tat when he turned 18, and everyone in the shop is always friendly and fun and outgoing. No pressure if youre unsure about something, and I trust their judgement completely.

Ive gotten a couple of tattoos by Darin, my husband has as well. He never disappoints. He stays busy but his work is worth the wait. Ive always wanted a larger piece on my shoulder and he did it a couple years ago and I love it. I always get compliments on it. Darin And everyone there are class acts. I got my first tattoo here when I was 18 and they made it such a great experience. Everything was clean and neat. My fiancee just got our daughters name on his arm from here about a year ago. It turned out so beautiful. I will be coming soon to get a tattoo for my daughter as well. I was always told I could never have children so after many years of trying I was finally blessed with my little miracle. I cant wait to get a tattoo as beautiful as she is and there is no other place I would even consider to do my tattoo. Keep up the great work. ♡

I have 3 ear piercings on each ear and have wanted my septum done for some time but I was honestly really hesitant because of how often my ears get infected. I’d heard good things abt tatoo Charlies and decided to go. it was quick and clean my piercer did an amazing job she was fast and my nose hasn’t even hurt since. She was polite and I had such a good experience im thinking of coming back for a few more ear piercings definitely will recommend this place to anyone who asks!

I can’t say enough good things about Tattoo Charlie’s and the owner, Buddy. I recently decided to re-pierce my tragus and easily set up an appointment with Jessika. The studio is ultra clean (best I’ve ever been to) and makes you feel really safe, even with COVID. They ask all sorts of questions upfront to keep you and other clients safe. Jessika was professional and is a top-notch piercer. The aftercare instructions were clear and helpful - and they even provide aftercare products. Highly recommend!

Though the original shop on Berry Blvd has closed they have expanded to operate a few other locations with standards and quality that mirrors the original, hiring only the best, most accomplished artists. Whether you want a tiny, obscure bluebird or a full sleeve of mystic imagination, having your ink done here makes it a little less likely that youll regret 20 years later, getting inked up.A shout out to those fine artists that have carried on the tradition of Tattoo Charlies. Worst first experience with a nose piercing. Jess will not get back to you for concerns. Or maybe it was because I didnt tip when it was already overpriced as hell. (For what I got anyway, which is several infections and an absent piercer.) It was the day I turned 18 and I had just over 100 dollars to my name. (I paid 80.) This lady advised against everything except spraying solution to the piercing. Thats it. No soaking, cleaning with a q-tip, etc. Im going on my...5 1/2 month mark. Severely infected, skin is painful, I have tried to figure it out myself. I was not given enough aftercare advice, in fact she gave me the opposite of advice. Thanks :)...oh, my friend had hers done somewhere else, paid 60 bucks, and hers is more healed than mine. She has had it for 6 weeks.

Jessi is the best piercer. She is really sweet and makes you feel at ease. Shes lovely to talk to and has a great attitude and personality, especially while youre in pain from getting piercings. Shes very clean and sanitary and aseptic when preparing a room and piercing equipment.

All but a couple of my tattoos have come from this location and they are AMAZING. I actually just got 2 done today and am super pleased with the work done. Got my first ever tattoo done by Darin. Very professional and efficient at getting it done. I love it, it was exactly what I wanted. My son went in March 2018 to fix one he got from a friend and add to Dave was great with him. I wanted first Tattoo so on March 17 came back to Dave got my first one a matching one with my sister. Love the atmosphere and how we treated.i liked how Dave made me feel at ease. My son went back today for a new tattoo with Dave. My oldest daughter got one a few months ago also. I went really close to closing time asking for a personal tattoo for a family member passing away Elli gladly did the tattoo for me. SHES AWESOME. Tattoo turned out really good. She has steady hands and she’s light handed. I would recommend her to anyone. She talks with you throughout the tattoo as well to make you feel comfortable instead of just sitting there.

I have got all 10 of my tattoos, and my wife received her 7, from Tattoo Charlies and every time we have gone there for work we have been greeted and helped with any and all questions we have had. The work we have had done has turned out great and we have felt safe getting them done since they follow strict rules to make sure you are safe. Will definitely be going back.

I will say they are the best when it comes to piercing. However to have to schedule an appointment is just ridiculous. Especially when you just want to get something the same day

I walked in this morning to be greeted by John. He asked how he could help. Mind you Ive only had one tattoo in my life and it was 23 years ago. I showed him something I was interested in and he quickly sketched an idea for me.. He had an appointment that was a no show and asked what I thought. I said lets roll with it and he went right to work. He drew up What he saw in his mind . showed it to me. I agreed and he went right to work with a brilliant mind and a skill unlike any I have seen. A few smoke breaks later and I ended up with a sweet masterpiece .. This place is busy and just from my first visit I could tell everyone was quite knowledgeable and LOVE what they do. It was such an amazing experience for me to watch that stencil come to life on my arm. Truly amazing.. Will definitely be back!!

The best place in Louisville to get a tattoo hands down. My first tattoo experience was over 14 years ago and it was done by Tattoo Charlie himself. I was scared at first but he set my mind at ease. Everyone is very professional and artistic. That is why I have come back to get all of my tattoos every time. I will continue to follow them from Berry blvd to Preston Hwy. I have recommended the shop to all of my friends and family.I plan on getting a sleeve done there. Excellent staff and management.

I had an appointment with Pike to get my mother’s handwriting tattooed. Pike was very professional and paid so much attention to detail because he understood what this tattoo meant to me. The finished product was better than I could have ever imagined. Thank you Buddy, Pike and the rest of the staff for having a COVID safe environment and exceeding my expectations.

I had a very bad experience at xtreme ink in Clarksville In, they put a ear ring in my double helix that was extremely two long and could cause bad harm and was cheap quality. They worked me in the day I called and Jessika even stayed late to fit me in. She was so sweet and was very smart and knew what she was doing. She took her time to take the rings out and put the new high quality ear rings in. Before I went my ear felt like it was on fire like it was throbbing. Now it is just a little sore but nothing like before. Xtreme ink did not give me any information on how to clean it and didn’t even mention a down size. Here I got a paper with everything I needed to know a way to contact her if I needed any questions answered. She was so nice and made it known she wanted me to ask even if it was just a question of me over worrying. I definitely recommend this place to get a tattoo or piercing. Saved my piercings and made it something great that I love so much. And the jewelry is top notch and not cheap like the other place that screwed my ears up

I 100% would recommend getting your tattoo done here. A couple weeks ago I called and had a few questions, the woman on the phone (sorry dont remember her name) was very helpful. Two days later I went in for a consultation and talked with Justin who was also very helpful. A couple weeks later I went in and got my ink, also by Justin. I am in love with it and it is by far the best tattoo I have ever received. I had given Justin my own drawing (sad excuse of one that is) and he turned it into something beautiful. He was professional, courteous, welcoming, and did an AMAZING job! I also want to give a thanks and kudos to Moy and Pike for creating a fun, relaxing environment while us guinea pigs get worked on. Ill be back, happily and willingly! Yall rock.... Now I know why Ive heard so many good things from everyone. :)

Got turned away after trying to make an appointment ahead of time online and then showing up twice in one day. The artists are clearly only interested in big-ticket items and they arrogantly brush off less pricey jobs. All is well that ends well, because I received great service and a great tattoo from the other store on Dixie Highway. Do not waste your time running back and forth to Preston Highway unless you are willing to get an entire body part tattooed.

Some of the best artists in the state for sure. Ive gotten two tattoos done here, one by Eric and one by Darin. Theyre each three years old and havent faded in the slightest. They ensured the best tattoo experience and tattoos possible and for a great price.

I have gotten 6 piercings from Stacey and shes awesome. Shes a real professional and a perfectionist. She always showed me all jewelry and implements in sterile pouches. She also took her time marking the piercing and if she felt it wasnt right she would remark it until it was. And she always gave information on the jewelry she used and aftercare. She is patient and thorough. I recently moved to Seattle and have already gotten pierced here at a reputable shop, but I would still go to Stacey if I could.On a side note I have experienced what some other commenters have mentioned. Whenever I did walk into the shop I was never really greeted by anyone. I would sometimes have to hang around for a few minutes until anybody acknowledged me. So I dont really know how to rate the rest of the shop.

I took my daughter to get her nose pierced and let me just say that the customer service representative was amazing. She was so nice a detailed about the procedure and then the young lady who did the piercing was amazing as well. I definitely recommend this place and I will be back for sure.

Came in Friday for my Tat. This was my 8th one and FIRST from Charlie’s. Pike was my artist, Tat came out BETTER than the photo. Had good conversations, made sure I was comfortable. AMAZING job. Place is super clean, they take Temps as you come in which I love, all the workers are super friendly and very patient. I came in for a jewelry change and their piercer Jess is always amazing. Been going here for 30 yrs and never had a bad experience!

I got my septum pierced by Jess and I highly recommend them! They explained every single step of the process in detail which helped me feel really comfortable.

It really is like an art exhibit. They have art for sale and its a really cool set up. The receptionist was nice and the place was very clean. My artist, phil was quiet but took his time and did a good job. I saw the work the other artist there was doing as well and her work was amazing.

Tattoo Charlies is the only place I will trust with tattooing/piercing me. I have always admired how transparent they are with their customers, and how much they value giving people the highest quality service that they can. Not to mention that they have an insane amount of talent working at their store. They are also one of the few places to get a tattoo that care about their vegan customers, and will make sure that they dont use any animal products when tattooing vegans. Not only does Tattoo Charlies care about their customers, they are very generous and give back to the community whenever they can.

I’ve had multiple tattoos done at this location, recently I had one done by Louit and he is incredible! The man is a gifted artist and an incredible tattoo artist! Go see him and show him some love, it will be worth it!

I love Tattoo Charlie’s so much. I had sent in 3 emails with pictures of possible tattoos I want to get an estimate and I still haven’t heard anything.

Look I work in customer service and have had to deal with the rude customers who over exaggerate and dont tell the full story. Im honestly only writing this review to try and help the owner understand why my fiance and I turned right back out the door and didnt get our tattoos. I understand its the busy season for yall because of taxes and what not. And walk in availability is slim. I do not know who the man was at the counter that we talked to. But he was extremely rude to both of us. I have 10 tattoos. Im not new to getting ink. I dont claim to be as knowledgeable as any artist out there but I understand the basics. With that said he treated us like we were complete idiots about what we were asking. All I wanted was a penny and Roman numerals. All my fiance wanted was 2 words in calligraphy style on his wrist. We were told no. Its not possible. The sizing had to be huge. And it would be expensive. it just wont be doable. Because you cant paint the Mona Lisa and size it down. now we understand about detail. And we understand it needs to be a certain size for whatever kind of detail or lack thereof youre looking for. But, good lord, this guy didnt even give us a chance to explain what we really wanted. He just said no. It wasnt possible. Honestly its a shame because I walked through these doors when I was 18 to get a tattoo and they were rude then and I thought it might be different 9 years down the road. I didnt talk to the whole staff so I cant speak for them at all but this just sucked for us...Im sorry. Wish you all the best in the future.

Pike and Justin (Jinx) are both phenomenal tattoo artists and they are definitely very knowledgeable when it comes to getting a tattoo. Ive had work done by both and wouldnt dare go anywhere else for a tattoo and I highly recommend Tattoo Charlies to anyone looking for a tattoo, whether it be small or large. I went here for my second and third tattoos and was extremely impressed. The shop was very clean and the staff was professional. Dave did a fantastic job and made sure I was happy with every step before he continued. This was a way better experience than the other shop I went to. I recommend it for sure.

I love this business. 8 years ago I got my first tattoo here. About 4 years ago, I got my tragus pierced. And then 6 months I got my snug and my second tattoo. I have NEVER been disappointed. They are clean, friendly and above all, knowledgeable.

I met with an artist who was very professional and honest about my desires to getting a tattoo. I had lost weight and he congratulated me and made a suggestion for me to wait until I reach my goal. He was very AUTHENTIC. The desk workers were kind and polite and the facility was clean n smelled very clean.

I haven’t had a personal experience YET but my hairdresser got an amazing tattoo at Tattoo Charlie’s and it looks flawless! She said they were willing to listen to her ideas of what she wanted and come up with an incredible design that is unique! She has a one of a kind tat and I’m hoping to do the same soon!

To be honest I want to love Tattoo Charlies. They came so highly rated and have a huge dedicated fan base. I went in to get a tattoo- both times entering the shop and calling before hand I was met with horrible customer service. Even at their best they seemed completely uninterested. I loved their portfolios and their work seemed wonderful so I stuck around. All in all the tattoo process went alright but the end product was certainly not as great as I had hoped. My tattoo is a very specific line drawing and the end result did not look like the picture we had agreed upon. Be wary- not all their work is as exceptional as it seems.

All around great experience. Friendly professional staff, clean, and talented. Their jewellery selection has something for everyone. Dave and Jinx impressed us big time. Dont have enough positive things to say. Highly recommend them to anyone.

I had a very easy process of changing my nose piercing. The jewelry is real and expensive but very worth it. I had to change my nose piercing for work and that cost me $31 installation fee included. Very simple and they give you a set to change it yourself at home.

Our girls trip to Louisville isnt complete without our group tats with Dave... Its become a tradition. Hes a great artist, friendly and gives great advise. The shop is clean and inviting.... We will be back for many years to come!

I went in to see about setting up an appointment to get a tattoo with John, when I walked in John came right over and we talk about what I wanted and I asked when he would be able to do it, he told me he could possibly do it the next day do the appointment he had did not leave a deposit and he was unsure if they would show. The next day I walk in with my girlfriend and we see John is tattooing someone so I almost 100% sure I would not be getting my tattoo, but to my surprise John ask me to give him a second and we would talk, as soon as he came to a stopping point we talked and he said that the tattoo was not going to take much longer and he would do my tattoo that day. John made my first tattoo an amazing time and not stressful at all, it felt like I knew him my whole life. Just to add even more good things my girlfriend was talking about how she was wanting to get a tattoo and John said as soon as we are done with mine he would do hers. I will definitely be coming back for more ink.

Their piercer Moy is fantastic at what he does and after finding this place I won’t go anywhere else for a piercing. Moy is professional every step of the way and takes his time to ensure your experience is pleasant and painless. Seriously. He also makes sure that you are fully satisfied with jewelry and placement, while working with you on what is best for the specific piercing you are receiving. The piercing room itself is very clean and sterile, as well. I have full trust with this man, he definitely knows what he is doing. I would recommend this place to anyone without a doubt. Heard about this place and thought we would try it out. My husband and I had our first date night in a long time and I wanted a simple nose piercing. Shop closed at 12 am and we got there 10 minutes before 11 pm. I asked the lady if I could get my nose pierced and she said she had an appointment coming in and I could come back tomorrow. I sit in the parking lot for 15 minutes trying to find another place and the whole 15 minutes she stood outside smoking. I think she could have easily done my piercing but refused. I’ve had my nose pierced before and I took less than 10 minutes. By her attitude you could tell she just clearly did not want to do it. Will not be back!

I just called to ask a couple questions before making the decision to come in to Tattoo Charlies and whoever answered the phone made it seem like I was an inconvenience to them. I just asked about walk-ins and if they could accommodate me and a very small tattoo I want. I understand this is a popular and busy place but it didnt seem like they wanted to help me out. As a first-timer, it would have been nice to feel welcomed!

I don’t write a lot of reviews BUT this is one review I did not want to ignore..I had my Tragus pierced and as soon as I walked in they did nothing but make it feel like home and welcoming. Moy Pierced my Tragus and he made me so so uncomfortable that I couldn’t even tell you he pierced my ear.. we had so much conversations about anything and everything that it was perfect.He walked me through all the sanitizing process and taught me an amazing breathe in and breathe out technique not only for piercings but in a lot of other things as well (like giving blood)..I will forever go to you guys and see him for my piercings and I love my experience. If I could rate you guys and him a 10 I would!!

All but two of my tattoos are from this place (I have 17). Darren is currently working on my left arm over time and cant recommend him enough. But I would trust anyone there. Theres a reason they have been around for so long.

I’ve been going to Tattoo Charlie’s for years. I started out going a couple other places because I “thought” Tattoo Charlie’s would be too expensive. But, I was wrong!! When you consider the amazing artwork, friendly customer service, clean facility (they always get 100%), it’s not a bad price at all. Most of my art is custom work. If you could see the artwork I have on my arm, you’d KNOW why I’ll NEVER go anywhere else!! I get compliments on my tattoos ALL the time.

Awesome staff, went in with my girlfriend to see if they would change out some of her jewelry for an operation. They were more then happy to help and even offered to put the other stuff back in when she was out of surgery! Always knowledgeable and cleanliness oriented! Will never go anywhere else!

Dave took great care of me. I went in with three different tattoo images and wanted elements from all three. Dave was able to synthesize the three ideas into a beautiful tattoo which also included a cover up of a dumb tattoo I got when I was 18. This tattoo is a memorial tattoo for a few brothers lost overseas and Dave treated the tattoo with the respect and professionalism that it called for. Tattoo Charlies was already my go to place and always will be, you guys have certainly earned this veterans respect and business.

I had my first nose piercing at the one on Dixie Hwy. I bled like a stuck pig. Then I get a bottle of Dial soap and was told to clean it w that. A week later my piercing fell out and got infected. I swore to never get another piercing done.HOWEVER...deciding to give it another shot, I went to the one on Preston. The young lady was professional, kind and understanding. The whole process was totally different there, I didnt bleed at all, was given a wound solution to clean it and not only did it heal wonderfully, but Ive been able to switch out with no problems. I recommend going to the one on Preston for all piercings! ❤

Today, I went in to see about getting a small tattoo done. I had my design in mind and was ready to answer any questions about it. As soon as I walked in, Moy greeted me warmly as well as working on finishing with a customer. He asked what I was there for and told him. One of the tattoo artist, cannot remember hai name for the life of me, invited me up to his space, while working on someone else, and asked me to show him my idea. The whole experience was great and I hope to come back tomorrow for a walk in tattoo. Fingers crossed that the wait isn’t long.

I just recently got my 7th tattoo from here. Darin has done all my work. We are working to finish off my sleeve. I needed a cover up done on a tattoo I had done in my teenage years. A classic tale of not listening to the parents about bad ideas yada yada. I needed someone who could erase a bad memory and replace it with art and boy did I luck out with Joel. He really took the time to listen to my ideas and talked me through with what would realistically work. You could tell he really enjoys what he does because he took his time and created such an amazing detailed piece. I am in love with it and have received so many compliments. It was an honor to work with him. Joel will take great care of you, no regrets.

Really like this place but the wait time for a piercing was ridiculous. Waited over an hour before someone came to inform us of the long wait time. Chose not to wait another 2 hours. I dont understand if they have that much business why they dont have more than one piercer on at a time, especially on the weekends. Guess Ill just try another day later on.

My cousin and I went yesterday for daith piercings! I was a little nervous... LOL but Moy was absolutely amazing! He talks you through everything... Tells you certain breathing techniques to help... Explains everything thoroughly on how to care for your piercing afterwards! And the jewelry selection is amazing! Once my piercing heals I will be going back to get the other side done :-)

This morning, (October 17, 2016) I went to Tattoo Charlies on Preston and got my new tattoo. I got a tattoo that reads Just Breathe . I have wanted it for a while but was iffy because I have friends that have word tattoos that look like hell. Their tattoos all came from other tattoo studios, and looked as if they were done by a kindergartener. I worried for nothing. My tattoo looks Great. PIKE, who did my tattoo helped me pick out a good font, size, and placement. He was very professional and personable throughout the whole experience which made the situation more enjoyable. I got a nice ass tattoo that I will be proud to show off, and plan on returning to have Pike do more work in the future.

Two tats from there over the years tried to make it 3 last year but they wanted to charge double what others in area are charging. Great work not so great prices especially for what i wanted done. Update glad the owner replied back with honesty. I will be back!

Didn’t even go here and do not plan to. I called to see if nose piercings were currently allowed, and the woman who answered was VERY angry that I even called to ask. On the phone I even apologized for asking and she hung up on me. When things re-open, I certainly will not be going here. Unbelievable. Clearly someone needs a talk about customer service skills.EDIT: I messaged their Facebook page to express my disappointment, and they responded with the most ridiculous, disheartening message. I was accused of cussing at them, which was the excuse for why she hung up so abruptly. This is not at all true, and I cannot imagine ever going to a place with such poor staff who like to lie about potential patrons. Nobody should ever be treated this way for calling and asking a simple question.

Pike did my tattoo and was super nice. He wasnt rushing or anything and let me take a break when I need. Overall payed 80$ (without tip) and took about 25 min with my break.

I went to run in and purchase a nose ring. I was told I couldnt come in without an appointment and the piercer had already left by 445 on a Friday. Very un helpful and not professional. I was not able to make the simplest purchase. I will not be going back again

Would not let grandson n I sit in lobby while my 3 daughters got tats..We did go to Creative Ink and my grandson got to watch his mom get her tattoo from the lobby seats. If his Mom was ok w him being there it should have been her choice. I appreciate Tatoo Charlies policy but I think there should be exceptions. They lost 3 new customers and money based on that policy.

Worst Tattoo I have ever gotten. I paid over $300.00 for some flames and the guy who did the Tat went so deep that I bleed like never before. And I have many Tats and I have never bleed like that. Then it took 6 weeks to heal I went back to get them to fix it and the guy who did the tattoo quit. So I ended up trying to have them fix it which they tried 2 more times and it didnt work because it has so much scar tissue now! The colors never stayed it just looks terrible! I even had to go to the Dr to get antibiotics just to get the Tat healed the first time due to the infection that he caused by tattooing me too deep! I would never ever recommend this business to anyone ever!!!!

My Mom drew me a Phoenix for my first tattoo. I presented it to Darin who was happy to oblige and made sure it was sized and placed just as I wanted it. Love this place and all their artists are wonderful!

This is literally the only place I go for anything anymore! Everyone is so nice and knowledgeable, and they try to help me as best they can to make sure Im totally satisfied. Darlene and Moy are my go-to piercers, and all of the tattoo artists are great. I recommend everyone I know to go here.

My daughter had her nose pierced here and hasnt had any complications. The piercer was alittle gruff with my wife and daughters questions, but in the end it was good service w/o complications.

The tattoo artist arent at all thrilled about doing tattoos... they have no umph to add when its offered to them, and frankly everyone there will tell you about how they knew Charlie himself... theyre bug headed, unartisitic, non caring, employees... Ive never had such a dull, non friendly, tattoo experience in my life. Not to mention they over price the hell out of tattoos and they dont even have any actually GOOD artist. Legit. Its like going to Sunday church to get a tattoo... And I mean like adult Sunday church. Like, the employees are more busy with their phones and each others personnel lives then they are with any art or customer. Was truly just a weird ass experience. Tattoo shops/parlors... Just, normally being there you feel like youre around family. Legit. Or friends at the least. These... just... ugh. In case I havent made myself clear... this was the absolute worst tattoo experience of my life.

Tried calling to see if they were still taking tattoo’s. Not only did they say no and explain themselves, I was just talking (as I understood they were booked the rest of the night), they had proceeded to hang up on me while I was in the middle of a sentence. Very unprofessional, definitely will not be giving them a chance to rectify themselves.

Four tattoos by Lucky at Tattoo Charlies in a span of 16 years and love every one of them! The color is still as vivid on my first one as it was the day I got it. He not only gave me a brilliant tattoo but taught me all those years ago, on my 18th birthday, how to properly take care of the tattoo so that it would look great for years to come! Lucky (aka Steve) is professional, creative and second to NONE! With my last tattoo to celebrate my Ironman Louisville finish, I told him what I wanted and he designed one of the sweetest M-dots designs out there. Without a doubt, he is the BEST and Tattoo Charlies is where I tell everyone to go! They are the most professional, clean, well ran shop that a person could find! Find them and find them quick, never settle for something that isnt one of the finest from Tattoo Charlies!

I am looking for a tatoo artist for my granddaughter and I. I want someone that is good because I never dreamed I would get a tatoo until I got cancer and my granddaughter asked me to get a tatoo with her! Now Im a grandma and what they ask for most likely they get. Especially if she wants to do something for remembering my cancer and how much we love each other. We have waited a few years because she asked me to do this when she was about 15 and we had to wait until she turned 18. I told her maybe after Christmas we could do it.

Best artist and shop around. My wife got art there and every 1 was beyond nice and helpful like she was family to them and her art came out beyond what her and me could imagine it would and a week after her tattoo was done and hilled it still looks perfect. I have tattoos from other shops that are good altho this will be my new art shop to get mine done at due to the whole atmosphere there and the artist and there work

I have two tattoos from Tattoo Charlies that are 25 years old and still in beautiful condition. The lines are distinct and the color is still vibrant. Tattoo Charlies artists are talented and helpful in helping you decide on your permanent ink. Most importantly, they are professional and clean. My friends and I have never had any issues with our tattoos from Tattoo Charlies.

Tattoo Charlies on Preston Hwy is the most professional tattoo shop in Louisville! I know that I always get the top of the line care when I go. Would never go anywhere else for my tattoos or piercings. Love them!!

Staff seems very knowledgable. Very clean environment. I had daith piercing and my piercing was literally painless. Only complaint i had was coming in several times and they were out of product to do the type of.piercing i was getting.

I have been trying to call since Saturday to get an appointment : The answering machine states Friday the 13th and that they will not be answering calls nor is the voicemail system monitored. I’ve used this location in the past for all of my piercing needs but now I’m not so sure about working with them in the future.

Jessika pierced my daughters ears and she was fantastic. She talked us through the process and showed us everything sterilized. It was clean and my daughter said she barely felt anything.

Justin done my daughters foot print on my wrist almost 3 years ago. He told me because I chose purple it would more than likely fade, but he went over the foot print 5 times. To6 this day it looks just as good as the day I left!

Went with my mom a few months back to get her tattoo, I’ve been looking to get my first and I’m definitely going here. They were all so friendly and made you feel right at home and comfortable.

Unfriendly. The associates acted irritated a costumer would even talk to them or, gasp, ask questions. They also refused to allow my service dog to even be in the lobby which, according to the ADA, is illegal. A tattoo parlor must allow service animals. The only reason I even gave any stars is because one inker was kind enough to answer questions after he saw us still standing frustrated after dealing with the other associates. Please dont waste your time. Fund a local artist that understands how to treat a customer aka their paycheck.

Visited several tatoo parlors in the area. I was in town for a funeral and my sister and I decided before I had to leave to get matching tatoos. Didnt relise it was saint patricks day. We go inside no one greeted us at all so we started flipping through the books. Figured everyone was busy they would eventually say hello. Three people walk in behind us all of them get spoken to and helped. We raise a hand wave to one lady and ask when she has a minute if she can help us. Two more people walk in and she helps them instead. She ends up making appointments for them. We finally get to talk to someone and she says they are full. We ask about appointments and she cant schedule them.. we went to quit a few shops after that and they were all full and all of those shops treated everyone respectfully, kindly and courteous unlike tattoo charlies.. we ended up getting matching tatoos on saint patricks day in memory of our mother. Ill always remeber tatoo charlies as that rude place.

Moy did an excellent job on my nose piercing... He took his time to explain every little detail to me and made sure I was comfortable before starting. Excellent service!!!!

I have only recently started going here for my tats and I have always been told this place wasnt worth it for the prices but they are a great group. From the staff to the artwork in the making its worth the money and even the is really affordable no joke.
