I cannot recommend this place enough. They came highly recommended to me by a few people in the area. First, I’m a huge fan of being able to book an appointment online. I was able to get availability the day after I looked.Upon walking into the shop, i was grateful for how clean and inviting it was. I was greeted promptly by the woman at the front desk (I forget her name) and she was so helpful and kind.Lastly, I was booked with Nick. He was incredibly welcoming and friendly. I did not feel pressure or uncomfortable at all. We even related on the fact that we both tend to get fixated on things being ‘perfect’. This was great because we spent a good 15 minutes getting the placement of my piercings in a place we were both happy with.He made the entire process quick and painless. If you’re from Pittsburgh and looking for a place to get your piercings, you will not make a mistake going to SIX16 and especially booking with Nick.Thank you!!

I had the best piercing experience here. I come all the way from south Texas visiting pittsburgh for a concert & football game. I decided to get pierced as a souvenir for myself. Being a piercer myself & being pierced dozens of times by other piercers & shops, this by far has been my favorite experience. I called right at the last minute & they were able to squeeze me in on short notice. First off, Emma the stylist & counter staff is AMAZING! She is so nice & sweet & so helpful. I decided on getting stacked lobes & she showed me so many beautiful options. Their jewelry selection is amazing. Its like being a kid in a candy store. After choosing jewelry (I chose 18k yellow gold bead ends) we waited patiently for Nick (my piercer) to get everything ready. LET ME TELL YOU... THIS GUY KNOWS WHATS UP! he took his time with placement and the entire piercing procedure itself was so easy. I honestly didnt feel anything. My body usually swells up quick & Im a bleeder (I know my body) & nothing of the sort even happened. I was even waiting to bruise the next few days because Im anemic, but nothing! Both he and Emma checked my lobes several times, which I was curious about, but now I understand. This experience just makes me want to be better & take my time on my clients now. It was a a great experience, it definitely humbled me on how important it is to take your time with every single customer. Thank you so so much Nick & Emma! I had a great experience here! I knew I wanted a unique cartilage piercing, but wasn’t sure what would work best for my anatomy so I figured I’d see what they said when I arrived. Ryan, my piercer, took one look at my ear and knew what would look best. Emma, the jewelry stylist, was so nice and helped me pick out the right kind of jewelry. And she hyped me up!! They gave me a couple options for the combination of piercings and I ended up doing a double rook and conch, which I absolutely love. Ryan was very gentle, quick and professional during the piercing process.The jewelry is definitely the majority of the cost, but they are very transparent about price on the website do I knew what to expect before I arrived. I would definitely recommend this place for a high quality piercing experience!

I don’t remember the name of my piercer but I had my first ever piercing here a few years ago (other than my ears). I got a septum. Everyone was very nice. Piercer was very professional. I am now a body piercing apprentice myself and I feel as though this place inspired me to want to pursue the piercing career as I fell in love with piercings after I got my septum done here. Will be visiting again when I return to the Pittsburgh area. Highly recommend!!!

I had the best experience here! Originally came in because my mother in law wanted to get her nose pierced. I had been eyeing this Six16 on Instagram for awhile so I made her an appointment here. Everyone was so friendly and amazing! I started looking at the jewelry for myself and ended up choosing a piece that I loved for a spontaneous piercing. All of the jewelry pieces were stunning and had flat backs. Emma was so knowledgeable and kind and helped me decide where the jewelry piece would look best on my ear. We ended up deciding on a mid-ish helix. She was able to book me right away with Ryan and I went back! Ryan was amazing. He was incredibly friendly and comforting. I had 17 piercings already, but I still get nervous lol. Ryan validated me and eased my nerves and didn’t shame me for it, which I really appreciate. I’ve had piercers in the past (at other places) make fun of me for still getting nervous about a new piercing. Ryan did an amazing job, he was quick, clean, and fun :) I will 100% be returning and recommending Six16 to anyone looking to get a piercing!

I had such a wonderful experience here. The space is so warm and inviting, the employees are engaging, kind, and it is very clear that they love people. Sometimes piercing/tattoo places can feel intimidating and I was greeted and felt welcome as soon as I walked in.I was lucky enough to be able to get a same-day appointment with Lindsay, and she took such great care of me!

I was really nervous to get an old piercing fixed but the whole staff at six16 were so reassuring and kind. The selection of jewelry they have is beautiful too so it was nice to take a peek at what they had available! Really kind folks and I left feeling so much better :) I wish I could give them more stars for the quality of care they provided. My piercer was Nick and he was very reassuring and patient with my concerns and questions which made me feel that much more at ease during something I felt anxious about. Could not recommend them more!

I’ve never had a bad experience at SIX16. Staff are professional, knowledgeable, and friendly and the jewelry selection is top notch. I am also told repeatedly by my dentist that as much as they dislike lip and tongue piercings, whoever placed mine (thanks Nick!) did a phenomenal job because I have zero tooth or gum issues, and I have had my piercings in both my tongue and lips for several years at this point. Bottom line, I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my piercing experience!

I had an awesome experience with Lindsay (the apprentice but youd never know it by how well she knows her craft) for my eyebrow piercing. A lot of reviews say its pricier but I was honestly surprised with my total being lower than I planned. This isnt some shady spot this is a place where the piercers are knowledgeable, take your anatomy into consideration, and explain everything in great detail. So much more than getting a hole punched in ya face. Clean, minimalist environment, calming music. Just generally good vibes.Also, as with anything you do get what you pay for. High end jewelry is always going to cost more and the service is totally worth it. I got my septum pierced at a biker shop like 16 years ago and while it was cheap and fast, it was very much crooked. I have had several facial piercings and six16 goes above and beyond.Edit to add: you can always stop in to get a total before your appointment. They add it up right there in front of you. Not asking for a total up front if youre worried about a price point is kind of on the buyer here, and after I did the math on the site with the fees I was expecting to pay I was pleasantly surprised with a lower total cost.

Done my earlobe and cartilage piercings here, they were really professional and hygiene was good! Would definitely recommend

This place was great. I scheduled to get 2 dermal anchors removed and both Ryan and Nick worked on them. One was a breeze but one didnt want to come out easily. We eventually got it and these guys made the experience so comfortable. Super chill guys, 10/10 would get jewelry pulled out by them again 😂.

Six16 is the best piercing studio that I have visited in general, let alone in Pittsburgh! I have several piercings and have visited most of the piercing studios in the Pittsburgh area. Hands down, Six16 is my favorite by far. I saw Nick today for a helix piercing and it was a really great experience. All of their staff are great, it’s very clean, they have beautiful jewelry, and Nick was very kind and knowledgeable. I cannot recommend this piercing studio and their services enough. If you’re on the fence about where to go for your next piercing, please know that Six16 is THE spot!

Ryan did my nipple piercings and was amazing!! He made me feel super comfortable and walked me through the whole process. The girl at the front desk was super helpful as well, telling me about her experience and what to avoid during healing. It is pricey, but totally worth it and the entire place is very welcoming and clean. Nick did two of my ear piercings about a year ago and he was great as well, I would 100% recommend!!

Went in to get my industrial pierced. Nick, my piercer, told me that the piercing wouldn’t fit my ear geometry well. He helped my brainstorm some backup piercings and i ended up getting my lobes pierced at 6 gauge. I didn’t even know this was an option and i am super happy with the result. Nick and the rest of the staff was super helpful and friendly through the whole process. I will be coming back to this shop for all piercings in the future.

I loved this place, the staff was friendly l and the place is beautiful, but i have to give it 4 cause the jewelry is EXPENSIVE you’re gonna pay atleast a 100 or more for the jewelry on top of paying for the piercing. My experience was pretty much painless i got my septum pierced and I never ever had issues with it or the healing.

Went to Ryan to get my helix. Was scared to death. But he was supper relaxing, amazing personality. Had it done in 5 seconds can’t waiting to go back and get more 10/10

Just got both nostrils done by Nick at Six16.First off, the shop is layed out beautifully and the staff are extremely welcoming and excited about your visit.All of the jewelry is high quality and many varieties of styles to fit anyones taste. I cannot stress the level of attention to detail and professionalism I experienced with Nick.I was relaxed and comfortable from start to finish. I walked in a 7.5 and left a solid 9.5. I recommend anyone looking to get something done to stop wasting time and book now!

I have a really severe phobia of needles but Ive been wanting a septum piercing for a long time. This experience was absolutely great--or as good as it could have been for me! Online booking for the appointment is really easy and straightforward. Although the website doesnt give you a quote, the front desk was really up front about pricing. I worked with Nick, who was fantastic. I explained what would make me comfortable, and he listened really well. He was calm and kept me talking and joking, and I didnt need to remind him of my needs or boundaries at all. The piercing itself was basically painless and a few days later it only hurts when I forget its there and try to wipe my nose like the idiot I am! The facility is clean and bright, but the piercing room I was in is up a fairly steep and narrow staircase, so those with mobility issues might have difficulty with that. The pricing of their jewelry is a pretty significant markup from what I could get elsewhere, and they do require that you use their jewelry (they do not pierce with outside jewelry), but to me its worth it for the quality of the work that they do. If I ever decide to get any more piercings (unlikely), I would definitely go back.

Went here to get my septum pierced-- totally perfect experience. Be prepared to spend more than $200 for a piercing + jewelry, but know youre paying for quality and service. Nick was amazing and the person working the front desk (so sorry I forget your name!) was incredibly kind and hyped me up for my piercing. This is the only place in Pittsburgh I would recommend a friend go to for a piercing.

Ryan removed a very painful septum piercing I got from another shop that was too small and cutting into my nose. He was super friendly and patient, explained every little thing, and was very comforting while I got a little teary-eyed about the situation. Everyone was really nice and I will be sure to return next time I want any piercings done!

I’ve visited this business since their previous location on Butler St. and I have always had a wonderful experience. They are always extremely pristine clean and professional - which are the most important things to me when it comes to any body piercings/mods. Nick is so talented and kind and has a very gentle piecing technique. Lindsey has been so helpful previously at picking out jewelry and being patient with how picky I am. There is the most beautifully curated selection of jewelry here that would accommodate any style. I have recommended this business to many of my friends, family and acquaintances because I am so confident in the services.

I had my right rook done here yesterday and it was honestly a GREAT experience. Everyone here is super nice. Most importantly, my piercing felt almost painless. Even today the pain isnt noticeable unless I touch my ear. I had my piercing done by Nick and hes obviously very skilled at what he does. Overall, super happy :)

Nick is great, hes pierced me previously, and he always takes the time to get the placement correct, answer questions, and make sure youre comfortable.Do your research on what they offer before going, the website is very transparent. This is not a typical piercing experience, its not meant to be. Its a highly curated premium service. Yes, the jewelry is pricey. Yes, they are going to give you their professional opinion. So go in with a good attitude, an open mind, and be ready to discuss a modification someone is making to your body.

I can’t say enough about my experience at Six16. I made an appointment because I was interested in adding a chain to one of my earrings and knew they would have just what I needed. Well, Nick was so amazing in not only helping me pick out a gorgeous chain to add but also at helping curate both my ears. He had ideas that I wouldn’t have thought of, and that is exactly what I was looking for! Nick was so nice and had a ridiculous amount of knowledge, I completely trusted him and he did not let me down! He was so patient with me and picked out the most gorgeous jewelry. I left with 3 new piercings and some additions to old ones and couldn’t be happier. The studio is beautiful and absolutely impeccable. The jewelry is exquisite and the best of the best. They sell high quality jewelry, which a lot of people are not used to, but trust me it is worth every single penny! It is stunning and comfortable and sure to turn heads. Six16 is absolutely the gold standard for piercings. The selection of jewelry is beautiful and clearly curated with a lot of care, and the studio is clean and professional. What really sets Six16 apart in my opinion, though, is the staff. Nick, Lindsay, Ryan, and the rest of the staff are just fantastic. I’ve gotten six different ear piercings over the course of a year and have worked with Nick every time. Nick is wonderful: I typically come in with a general idea of what I’m thinking, and Nick gives the best recommendation for location and jewelry. From there, the process is so easy. Nick makes everything as comfortable as possible and is straightforward, informative and very kind.I was never interested in getting additional piercings beyond the two lobe piercings I got as a kid, but one visit to Six16 totally changed that. I definitely anticipate getting more ear piercings in the future, but what I don’t anticipate is visiting anywhere else. Couldn’t recommend highly enough!

I stumbled upon this shop a few months ago when I was looking for a piercer to swap out my existing nostril piercing (I’m a huge baby and get the skeevies at just the THOUGHT of doing it myself). My husband actually found the IG of the shop and said, “um this is the place. It has speakeasy vibes, it’s so for you.” And he was so right! The vibe is IT! Lindsay, a beautiful, kind blonde, was working the counter and helped style exactly the kind of jewelry that would fit my aesthetic. She was patient. She listened. She cared. She clearly wanted me to feel like I had the right style of jewelry and took her time to suggest pieces I might like. She asked me about my job, my family…she was just so personable and I loved the time I spent chatting with her. Then I met with Nick to do the jewelry swap. He too was so kind, so patient, and really cared about my experience. He was so easy to talk to, so welcoming and overall, just a cool person. They both left such an impression on me that the next time I was in town (I currently live in Boston, Mass.) I made it a point to schedule an appointment for another piercing with Nick - my septum. I was terrified of course, because again, I’m a huge baby. But Nick reassured me, kept me comfortable, and Lindsay was actually overshadowing the appointment too and kept me so comfortable by chatting with me and making me feel welcome. That was last week, and my piercing is healing perfectly - it looks awesome, the jewelry is perfect for me, and the experience was once again, 12/10. Cannot recommend Nick and Lindsay enough, they truly are wonderful people who care about what they do, and love their customers.

Nick did my septum and my paired nostril piercings, he took the time to assure that my nostrils lined up perfectly and everything was a breeze. Their jewelry is extremely high quality and everyone is so incredibly kind there. They are relatively pricey but for good reason, you get what you pay for. I would 100% recommend this establishment to everyone interested. They take safety very seriously and are APP certified. I absolutely love this place.

Overall- I just had a really wonderful experience with every member of the staff I interacted with. I came in for a simple nose piercing- which I love. But also was given extremely helpful information about future piercings. Nick does a wonderful job of making you feel comfortable and at ease throughout the entire experience. Can’t wait to go back!

Very clean, very nice shop. From booking to the appointment the staff was friendly and informative. The selection of available jewelry was large but not overwhelming. The nose stud my wife picked out was extremely high quality and fairly priced. They say you get what you pay for and in my opinion six16 could charge more and it would be worth it. I am very impressed and plan to recommend to anyone that wants a clean and elegant piercing.

Edit - been pierced again by this studio, two helixes and my friends felt confident enough to get their first helix and rooks piercings done. Continually impressed by the staff here.Six16 is by far a best in class piercing experience - and I have had several piercings over the years. It goes without saying that the shop is clean, the jewelry is all high quality and beautiful.The staff - front desk and the piercers - both work with you to create the look you want but also make great recommendations (including telling you no!) if a piercing wont work as well for you . Six16s jewelry is what some consider high end - you are not gonna to find $15 cubic zirconia studs here - and the jewelry is priced per piece, plus a piercing fee. You will find jewelry in the $80+ range that is unique, looks stylish, and is perfect for all genders. I have a really high pain tolerance and also am lucky enough that I can wear low quality jewelry and used to visit ok establishments until I came here. I have had a much better piercing and healing experience here than anywhere I have gone. Your piercing is essentially a permanent statement piece and so making the investment is worth it.I originally tried this place out as I like to get pierced with people and I have several friends who are very sensitive and wanted to get pierced. The first time I was pierced here was several years ago and I had a helix done - my second - and the process was so well done I barely felt anything. My friend got her helix done that day and absolutely loved it. Today I came in and got my septum done and again, I barely felt anything which is a testament to how knowledgeable and skilled the staff are . My friends got their second lobe piercings and three helixes done. All of us are so happy with placement, jewelry and quality. Highly highly recommend. Thanks so much Six16 staff!

SIX16 is the perfect place for piercing. The staff was extremely helpful, the selection of high end jewelry is beautiful. Clean, private, safe environment for your session. Nick was extremely helpful in suggesting a piercing that would best fit my ear specifically, he made the entire process quick, easy going and virtually painless. He is so knowledgeable about piercing and you can tell how talented he is at it. I love that they put in the jewelry right away at the time of piercing so there will be no fumbling with it and replacing it later. I will definitely be going back here for more.

This place is everything I never knew my ears needed. I had my conch and forward helix done by Nick in November and just went back to have him curate a yellow gold outfit for my other ear. Lindsay was incredible each time at reading my mind and helping me pick out the perfect jewelry to complement the placement. Nick made the piercing process so easy - hes clearly super knowledgable in his craft. Love this place, love the jewelry, love the experience.

Fantastic experience. My first piercing after my ears as a kid and it was so easy and so pleasant. Front desk staff explained the process and told me the cost upfront. Nick talked me through what to expect, kept things sterile and gave great direction about what he was doing and what to expect. The shop is clean, the jewelry is super high quality, and I would recommend it to anyone. They even recommend follow up visits to monitor for healing and how to progress the piercing to what I eventually want. Well worth the price. Seriously check this place out!

Great place. Receptionist was very very sweet and helped pick out my jewelry for my septum piercing, and gave some advice for healing as well. Ryan did a great job for the actual piercing. Super quick and answered all the questions I had. I was pretty anxious beforehand but after talking with him I was much more comfortable. Im not sure that the needles are single use though, they had a sterilization machine that was used for equipment. Just noted that. Overall good shop, great piercers:)

I had the BEST experience at SIX16. The staff was really helpful and friendly... but most importantly professional and kind. Nick takes much pride in this studio and it shows in so many ways - from the quality of the jewelry to the time he takes explaining his process. i felt extremely comfortable the whole time.The studio is impeccably clean and well maintained. I didn’t want to get a second earlobe piercing at a sketchy mall kiosk, so I researched piercing spots and heard nothing but good things about Six16.Nick and the front desk associate were so friendly and super helpful. The process was quick and easy!The only reason I’m giving a lower rating is that there were a lot more fees that I didn’t realize initially, which exceeded my expectation for the visit. Piercing is $60 for one, plus $40 for a second, plus the jewelry and a tip. That’s to be expected, as it’s on the website! Aftercare is also included (as per the website) so I assumed this also applied to the the follow-up my visit and downsizing of the earrings, which was a necessary second step for the process.Scheduling a follow-up is $20 and downsizing the jewelry was $35, which I was not expecting. Other reviews talk about hidden fees so I looked all over the website for this information, but couldn’t find anything.I just recommend more clarity for all steps of the process, as people are spending $300-400 dollars or more on piercings.

I drove about two hours to get pierced here, and it was definitely worth it. Everyone was very welcoming and professional, the place was very clean and well kept, and they had a beautiful selection of jewelry. Nick made sure I was relaxed during my appointment, that the placement of my jewelry looked right, and that I understood how to take care of it. Definitely planning to come back

Loved loved loved everything about six16! Booking online was easy - all of the information is presented clearly and concisely. Nick answers emails super promptly and Lindsay is lovely on the phone and in person! Nick is a true professional. The whole building is clean and orderly. Nick has been piercing me since he started at Artisan and is hands down the safest, cleanest, and best piercer in the city. I was pierced by many before him, but Nick is next level. Ryan who is here, also solid guy, and fun to talk to, as well as being a very gentle piercer. Lindsay has an impeccable eye for curation and jewerly and Emma is the sweetest thing since sliced apple pie. As a trans person finding piercing studios is often very hard, but Six16 is a safe place for all.

Got my helix and conch pierced by Ryan and had an excellent experience at SIX16! They have a great studio and beautiful selection of jewelry. Everyone was super kind and professional, and I felt calm with Ryan despite my fear of needles. I would definitely recommend this studio to others! If you’re on a budget, I would definitely be a bit careful when choosing jewelry because they can get pretty pricey, but overall this place is awesome and worth it!

Listen.. this IS the place to get a piercing. Ive been getting pierced by Nick for quite a few years now and travel over an hour one way to do so. He is friendly, super professional, and is great at easing those pre piercing jitters.They stock GORGEOUS jewelry and take the time to recommend what they feel would work best for you. If you arent looking for high quality fine jewelry, dont shop here. Understand that high quality jewelry is 100% worth the price and it is not the fault of this establishment if it is out of YOUR price range.They are totally transparent with the costs and tell you your total before you get pierced!They list all of their policies clearly on their page, before confirming your appointment, read them! If you dont agree with any of their policies, dont shop here :) But if you do shop here, you wont regret it!

New to PGH, I knew I wanted to find a local place I could support with chill professionals and a nice environment. There are a few bad reviews here that did not represent at all my experience. My time at the studio was great. E was super helpful at the front desk and very kind. N was just as nice and chill, and I think he really knows the art. I returned to the studio a day later after feeling frantic about the placement of my piercing — N and E were happy to squeeze in a few minutes to accommodate me and help me feel comfortable.Looking forward to the next visit. I had my daith and forward helix done last Saturday with Nick, and it was awesome! He told me everything he was doing at every point in the process, and even checked in on me when my face and toes scrunched up (the daith really got me). The jewelry is beautiful and they were very upfront about the price and understanding when I decided to only get two instead of four. They even gave me a booklet and a saline spray to take care of my piercing! Highly recommend this place, Nick was incredible and didnt try to fit any piercings that wouldnt work with my anatomy. Great experience!

Got my second piercing there last week, my first one was a cartilage piercing. I have had piercings before coming here and had terrible infection, but here they do a thorough sterilization before the process and I have my cartilage piercing recover just fine!

I have always had a wonderful experience with Nick Sangregory I have actually followed him and have been getting pierced by him through 2 tattoo shops shops, then his first location and now 2nd location of his own business (Six16). One thing that I love is how he always takes the time to explain what is happening. So that way there are no surprises. He will give you a countdown, remind you to breathe, and has consistently answered and resolved any and all issues (up to and including when my skin inside my upper nostril piercing embedded the piercing inside my nose). The shop has always been clean and held to a high standard of professionalism. The staff is to the point because of the high traffic & how booked out they are. I recommend everyone I know go here. The jewelry selection and quality is impeccable, I have had my opal setup in (except when I take it out to clean) for 6 7-8 years with no issue. Though I only have a small amount of experience with his other piercer, he seems to be on par with Six16 standards, and is undoubtedly excellent at his job.10/10

Had Nick do a nostril piercing for me; six16 came highly recommended and I too would highly recommend. 1) very, very clean / sterile. My husband works at UPMC in a lab setting and walked out thoroughly impressed with Nicks sterile technique and attention to detail. 2) Im a fainter... and Nick did an awesome job talking me through what to expect, how to calm myself down, and overall made the experience as easy as it could be. 3) Love my jewelry - Im healing nicely and I think a lot of that has to do with the quality of the jewelry in my nose... This review is long overdue but I was looking in the mirror today and realized how happy I was with my nostril piercing a little over 1 year later.I originally wanted a hoop for my nostril and was led by the wonderful people at SIX16 in the direction of a stud until it healed. I was a little annoyed since my heart was set on a hoop but a little over 1 year, 6mo with a hoop, I can confidently say my piercing looks great and no issues whereas my other friends who had hoops originally put in have all had to take them out d/t infection. Everyone at SIX16 is professional, well educated, and overall great at what they do. I cannot recommend enough.Im sorry Nick and those at SIX16 I will never doubt you again :)

Nick is incredibly professional, has beautiful jewelry, and his shop is very cozy. Ive been going to him 7 years and followed him to prior shops because of the excellent care I receiveand Ive never been disappointed. Six16 was actually recommended to me by my mom, of all people, who had a great experience with some nose piercings. Im really glad I took her advice (for once). I had an awesome experience with a forward helix piercing. The staff was incredibly helpful and professional, and they helped me pick out the jewelery that would work best. Ive gotten my ears pierced by them twice when the studio was in Lawrenceville and most recently I got two done at once. I was excited to return in the future for multiple piercings at once since the piercers are great with placement, have a wonderful selection of high quality jewelry, and are excellent piercers - but one of my flat cartilage piercings recently fell out and all I have is the back. I rarely touch/bump it and I wasnt aware this was a possibility because of the nature of the jewelry and Ive had it for the past 4-5 years now, but upon calling theres not much they can offer since its up to the warranty on the jewelry. I had hoped there would be more options available since I relied on their service, spent $300-400 on the jewelry and the piercings, and I do this as a treat to myself since I dont have extra money to drop often - so its honestly super frustrating. Apparently this is a great place when you have a disposable income.

The team took time in selecting jewelry with me that helped me achieve the look I was going for by pairing pieces and placements which was very exciting to work through... I have a daith, conch, nose, and 2 lobes all done by Nick and he was always polite, professional, and knowledgeable about everything. I have been wearing the same jewelry, purchased from him, in the lobes for more than 5 years straight with no issues, and the conch, daith, and nose over 2 years. When I got my conch and nose downsized a few weeks after getting them, Nick wasnt there, but the girl at the counter was happy to help with selection and sizing and the guest piercer (I forget his name) switched the jewelry for me, and that went smoothly as well. Its clear that these people care about their work and their customer satisfaction. I have never felt unwelcome in the shop even when I took 30+ minutes to decide on jewelry, the staff was always patient and kind.I wish I would have gotten more piercings done here before moving out of state as I havent been able to find any studios that compare to the quality I was used to six16.

The staff here are very attentive and knowledgeable. I went in a few weeks ago and got my Helix done, then came back today for my tragus and forward Helix. The gal at the front desk remembered me & what I liked and she helped me pick out some great pieces to go with the overall look I wanted. :-) Nick is awesome; he clearly takes his work very seriously and knows his stuff. I had a great experience getting my ear cartilage pierced. They are very professional including a very sterile and safe environment. Great information on taking care of your piercings. Only downside is the pricing. Very expensive jewelry and I was surprised at the hidden fees that were tacked on at the end. Everything is good quality and I would recommend it, especially given how hard it is to find a good, clean piercing place in Pittsburgh. Just make sure you can afford it in advance.

I cannot express how grateful I am for the staff at Six16. We had an amazing experience today. We took our seven-year-old daughter to get her ears pierced. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming making my daughter feel comfortable from the start. They made it very clear to her that this whole thing was her choice and she could change her mind at any point in time. Nick was awesome with her, walking her throughout every step, and asking her permission for everything he did. Listen, you get what you pay for. Go to the piercing kiosks if you want your kids ears mutilated, but go to Six16 if you want to be cared for and have an excellent piercing done.

On a whim, walked in with a friend and had a third lobe piercing done. Nick was awesome and I didnt catch her name, but the woman who gave me information and rang me out was nice and very easy to talk to. I cant say enough about the space and the variety of jewelry offered. Would absolutely recommend and go back myself!

Cons: very limited jewelry selection - more fair to say limited variation in style, large number of pieces - weird attitude from girl at desk, as others have mentioned. Overall unwelcoming vibe to me.Pros: quickly and relatively painlessly pierced (less painful for me than the same on the other side); pricing good imo ($60 piercing fee)I like the piercing I received, but I dont want to feel uncomfortable in a shop, when Ive been to many that are so much friendlier and happier. If I get pierced in Pittsburgh again, itll be at Hot Rod.Edit: While they certainly HAD jewelry physically present, it was mostly seam rings (they had like two clickers total) in small diameter hoops (that made me personally concerned about swelling in a fresh piercing, but YMMV depending on how your ears do), small studs, and more classic brands like Modern Mood and I think some Anatometal. I prefer to see newer piercing brands such as Junipurr, Pupil Hall, etc.The minimalist aesthetic is not my vibe, but I respect it. They dont do the same. When I asked about larger diameter for my rook, to match the other side, I was told it was overkill. I was surprised to have my aesthetic insulted like that. Feel free to click through my other reviews, this is the only piercing place Ive given less than 5 stars.Plus 2 stars for their explanation of intention. They are clean and prompt. Unlikely youll have a similar bad experience to me.

I am new to Pittsburgh and needed to replace some piercings that I previously have had. I was able to schedule through there website, which is a major plus. Ever person I interacted with was wonderful. The selection of jewelry was great, and everyone was very knowledgeable and honest about their suggestions. Nick was was kind, and we ended up just reopening vs repiercing my philtrum per his suggestion and it turned out amazing. I felt accepted and comfortable there. I am non binary and not once was I addressed with any gendered terms, and that may seem small but it makes all the difference. I will only be getting pierced here, and will recommend everyone.

I never ended up posting a review because I forget about these kinds of things, but anyway, I was super nervous about getting my septum pierced, because it was something that I’ve always heard horror stories about.I scheduled a same day appointment, (which is a rarity, but awesome) and the staff was super awesome about the fact that I wanted a very plain, surgical steel captive bead ring. (They have a ton of amazing jewelry, but I was on a budget, and they weren’t super pushy about it, which I appreciate)The piercing was flawless. The piercer, Nick, reminded me of a piercer I had in the past, who I honestly compare everyone to, because of all of the amazing experiences I’ve had with them. It didn’t hurt in the slightest, which surprised me the most.The aftercare was easy to understand, and as a result, I have a very great and healed piercing.Many months later, I asked for advice about fabricating a piercing for myself, and he was great about answering any questions that I had about metas and interactions with my piercing.Thanks again, and I’ll be back in the future for any more piercings that I decide to get.

The studio itself is absolutely gorgeous. I’ve been to shops all over the country and I can tell you that the selection and knowledge at SIX16 is unmatched.They carry an amazing selection of jewelry in reference to both styles and material. Quite frankly, if they don’t have it, you don’t need it hahah.Nick takes the time to explain everything in great detail and makes each experience as quick and pain free as possible. I couldn’t imagine a better studio and certainly recommend anyone in the Pittsburgh area to stop in and see for yourself.I’ve seen some of the poor reviews on here and to be honest.. they seem to all be born out of people not looking up the requirements for minors (which is no fault of the studio) or people not being used to purchasing actual quality jewelry. Frankly you get what you pay for and I feel this shop is worth every dollar spent.

I have gone here several times to get my nose piercing post resized. Each time they have given me individualized attention and information about the state of my piercing (which I got about 2 years ago in Portland).Although their products and services are a bit pricy, you pay for quality. Each time Ive visited every employee has been friendly, sanitary, and highly knowledgable.Would definitely recommend for a clean and safe first piercing experience, a change of jewelry, or any piercing issues you might be having.Will be back soon to upgrade from a post to a hinge nose ring!

First, Id like to say I had Nick perform a tragus piercing. He was incredibly helpful with questions and nice. He is fun to talk to when anxious about a new piercing. He alone landed 5 stars imo. However, the front desk figure was rude and short with me when I asked them questions. They would respond in a demeaning tone when I asked perhaps obvious questions to them, but to I (only a second time client) did not know the answers to. I almost walked out before I had the chance to meet Nick, thus possibly losing a 50$ deposit to the front desk attendant who was very unprofessional and abrasive. Six16, make sure the person you are putting at the front of your business is the personality and temperament you want your guests to view you as.

This is an amazing shop. I had the pleasure of teaching an educational seminar here for piercers, and I have to say it’s one of the best shops on the east coast. I send my clients here when they need a shop in Pittsburgh that does quality piercings with high quality jewelry.I know they follow regulations and their insurance regulations. I know they will do what’s best for their clients, even if the client’s don’t understand or want to accept that what they are asking for is not abiding with regulations or in their best interest.

Six16 is the real deal. I got a double helix piercing done by Nick, who is absolutely awesome. I brought my mom with me and she got a lobe piercing, and everyone we encountered in the shop (Nick, Micah, and Lindsay) were so kind to both of us. My mom is a nurse and they all nerded out over how they clean the jewelry and their processes around that (hint: they use an autoclave, which is basically unheard of outside a hospital setting, and means Six16 is as sanitary as humanly possible.)Ok, back to the piercing part: I had my helix/cartilage pierced TWICE before, in the same spot. The first time I went to the mall and it was too painful/started to get a bump around the piercing, so I had to take it out. The second time, I went to a piercing/tattoo place and after they pierced it it was almost instantly a mess - bleeding, super painful...it was awful. The piercer told me it was because I had scar tissue from my previous piercing. So when I went to Nick, I explained what happened during those previous two attempts, and wanted to discuss piercing below that area because I figured that the top third of my ear was beyond repair. He listened, examined my ear, and then gently explained why my ear was actually going to be totally ok to pierce in the original spot that I wanted.The end result: a PAINLESS piercing experience - again, Nick is a true professional and I literally barely felt a thing for both my piercings. Ive had my piercings for over a month now with zero problems. As someone who genuinely believed Id never be able to have that part of my ear pierced again, this feels like a weird piercing miracle.A few other things: they pierce in a separate room from the front counter, and it feels very safe, calm...almost like a doctors office, honestly. (But a cool, friendly doctors office.) Also, after you get pierced you can reach out at any time with questions (I have and got a response within a few hours!). Lastly, I live outside of Pittsburgh and Nick was able to easily make a recommendation for me to get my piercing downsized/checked up on in the area where I live.I will say that the price tag is high here - but worth every penny. You 100% get what you pay for - the most clean, professional, thoughtful piercing experience you could ask for. If you want your piercing done right, you come here, you pay for the experience and the quality jewelry (why would you want to fill what is essentially a wound with sub-par jewelry?) and you leave with exactly what you asked for, quality aftercare, and people who are there to help should you have any problems with your piercing.If youre in Pittsburgh, you should go here, hands down. My mom and I are already talking about going back!

I had a truly wonderful experience getting a nostril piercing at Six16. I cant imagine how many of these they do in a day—and how many times they have to repeat the same info and patiently watch people debate their jewelry selection for 20 minutes!—but I felt like I was their first appointment of the day. I made an appointment for a Saturday at 12:30, but ended up having to take my 4 year old daughter to the emergency room. I noticed a charge on my credit card at 12pm (before my appointment) for $60 cancel fee, which the website says the fee is $20-$60 cancel fee. I am not sure why I was charged the full amount since they didnt know what I was getting done. I called to cancel my appointment and the woman who answered did her job and gave me the whole explanation of if she makes an exception for me then she has to for everyone, etc. She ended up criticizing me for yelling at her from the beginning of the call, which I wasnt doing I was talking louder than my child crying in the background. I do believe that in certain cases they should make an exception or at least put a credit into my account for another appointment. I also think that they should not be charging credit card before the appointment even occurred. I ended up talking to a man and he was very nice and cleared up everything. While I wont be visiting this place ever again, I am thankful that whoever took over the conversation had the authority to take care of my issue.

The process of getting my ears pierced was smooth and the place was very clean. However, there were a lot of hidden fees and they were either out of stock of their very limited and expensive collection or had incomplete pairs of earrings. Only go for ear piercings if you’re willing to drop 200+ dollars on a 5 minute session.

I had my septum and my vertical inverse labret done. The shop was beautiful, very clean, very professional, HUGE jewelry selection! The piercer was wonderful! Super friendly meticulous very precise. Would definitely go back just for him! But Devin working the front desk seemed to be very irritated by every interaction between us and another customer.Called the shop back because I had questions about jewelry and swelling, Devin was the one to answer, was very short with me after I asked about my issues, stating that since she couldnt see through the phone I would have to come in for them to check it out and pay an extra 20$ for new jewelry and for their piercer to replace it. I thanked her for her time and information.Unsure if Ill be going back in the future.

This shop is a little different than your average piercing studio. The waiting area has books of Pittsburghs Whos Who, essentially a photobook of people with money. Combined with the high end jewelry store vibe its a little off-putting and not very warm.My interactions with the polite young lady behind the counter were awkward at best. I felt like she did not really know how to present the jewelry that was for sale, nor to figure out what I needed, aka simply not asking the right questions or offering any ideas.When I explained Im sensitive to most metals she insisted thats impossible, that their pieces are all hypoallergenic.I cant wear gold or silver (bodies are weird, but yah, thats a thing) and basically had to assertively push for something else, which ended up being titanium. No surgical steel or anything like that in this shop, which I admit is a bit offputting when its what youre used to.Front end experience aside, Nick was absolutely amazing. He has the touch for sure. He was gentle, considerate and professional. You could tell he knew what he was doing and even though my sales experience was pretty miserable, Im hoping I can come back with my own pieces of jewelry for Nick to work with. Hes the reason for the four stars! Easily the most comfortable Ive been when having my piercings worked on.

SIX16 is a beautiful studio with gorgoeus, quality jewelry. Nick and his staff are top notch, and treat all customers fairly and professionally. I’ve had several piercings done, and I will continue to go to SIX16 for all of my piercing needs in the future. Ive had experience already with the owner at a previous establishment and can say that the excellent customer service is still the same. Despite not being ready to spend the money on one of their higher end white gold pieces, the staff was more than willing to help me find something within my budget that would still help me achieve the look I wanted. Even though the septum ring I chose wasnt expensive, the staff still treated me like a valued customer and took the time to explain my options without being offended by my spend thriftiness. This kind of respect ensures that when Im ready to upgrade to a higher end piece of jewelry, I will be happy to spend my money at this establishment.

At my wifes suggestion I visited this shop and have also emailed them my questions. When I visited this weekend the ladies working the counter were both very professional and helpful. I know that I will be scheduling and visiting this shop to have my piercings done and look forward to the experience. If youre nervous at all, these folks will put you at ease. I haven’t had the pleasure of getting pierced here yet- but I know whenever the time comes I will come here, even though I live out of state. The space is beautiful and the entire staff is incredibly knowledgeable and kind about the piercing process. Their jewelry exhudes the highest of quality and honestly they look like works of art in themselves. I strongly recommend swinging by and checking out the place next time you’re in PGH and thinking about a piercing in your future!

Cannot comment on the actual piercing services, as I came in looking for new jewelry for an existing piercing in my cartilage, and have never been unsold something so quickly by folks working before (I’m in sales professionally). They looked at my piercing (orbital piercing with a simple silver hoop that goes through rook and helix) and immediately said they had no jewelry that could work, without asking a single question about what I had in mind. Meanwhile, all I wanted was a simple gold hoop to replace the silver one. After me asking them questions and pushing to see jewelry options, they finally measured the piercing and determined they did in fact have options that would work. By that point, I was so put off with the initial experience that I wasn’t interested in purchasing anything. The folks working seemed irritated to be dealing with customers in general and were overall unhelpful.

What more can I say, AWESOME!!Six16 body piercing is customer oriented, professional, and knowledgeable. They walk through the process providing information on your specific request and advise what works best for your anatomy. Looking out for your well-being is a top priority even if it means rescheduling for your best interest. These are all aspects I recommend to anyone looking for piercings so, look no further Six16 is your place!!

I had a great experience at SIX16! Nick was super helpful in picking out a good nose ring for what I wanted, but he also was able to just reopen my old nose piercing, which was less pain for me! He was very professional and the shop was clean!

The employees here are extremely rude and unprofessional. When you walk in, even with an appointment, they act like you are invisible or just flat out ignore you for ten minutes or longer. And when you finally do get to speak to someone they act like they are either bored out of their minds or annoyed that you even bothered coming into their shop. When you try to make a purchase or pay for your piercing service they become even more rude and act like you are just wasting their time by speaking. If you like overpriced piercing and being talked to in a rude and annoyed manner, then yeah this is the place to go.

I went in to get get a flat piercing, and was told that it would look awkward based on how small my ear is, so I was recommend a conch piercing instead. It turned out super cute and am so glad they helped me decide what would look best! Everyone was so kind and helpful, I will definitely be back!!

Amazing jewelry selection and an excellent customer service. The owner/piercer was very knowledgeable and explained everything every step of the way. The desk person helped me pick out the most beautiful jewelry. I definitely recommend.

Pierced by nickwalked in to be greeted by a cool dude, we talked about my piercing of choice, went through what would work best till healing was done and then selected the jewelry.he did a sterilization on the piece of jewelry while we talked some more, then when it was ready he had me lay on atable and the setup the location for the piercing (cleaned and marked), he was calculated with the placement. his hands were still and I was pierced in literally 1 second. no pain, no blood; all smiles.dude let me know that I looked like I came in with the piercing. tipped well, and will return for any others I may want in the future.side note, the shop is neat inside, visually appealing and clean. piercer wore hypoallergenic nitrile gloves.thanks guys

Overall, nice jewelry options, poor customer experience and over priced services. Front desk clerks are both very unwelcoming and gave me flashbacks to the mean girls in high school. I will go elsewhere next time…unimpressive overall.

Walked in, said what I wanted, filled out the release, and got pierced. Great, knowledgeable, friendly staff. Good aftercare instructions. I loved their selection of gorgeous jewelry! Planning on going back soon.

Very overpriced. Front staff not very friendly. Unfair policies regarding issues with piercings under a month.Gave 2 stars at least because piercer himself was nice but I would never return again due to the issues stated above.

I highly DO NOT recommend this place! the lady who works at the front desk is extremely rude and unprofessional and was giving me attitude the second I walked in the door and it was making me very uncomfortable. Also, they charge astronomical prices for poor quality jewelry. If you’re smart, go get the piercings you want somewhere else

Amazing place! So nice, knowledgeable and clean! I bought two new pieces of jewelry for existing piercings and they replaced them for me! I can’t say more good things about them. I would 100% recommend them to anyone!

I would not suggest going here because of their un welcoming staff and horrible quality jewelry. I purchased 6 pairs of over priced earrings that all broke, the needle part of the earring came off on two pairs and the other three they broke. mostley i would not come because of the staff they made me not want to buy their jewelry which should of been a good thing because they all broke.

Very high end as far as piercing studios go, the cost of the act of piercing is about average but they have much higher quality jewelry than most shops, and I would say the cost of the pierce is actually a very good quality because Nick is an incredible professional who did my wifes septum painlessly in a total of 5 minutes!

Even with a scheduled appointment it was a long wait time. The one woman at the counter was rude. The guy Nick doing the piercing was good.
