Definitely my new go-to shop!! Katelin (my piercer) was super sweet, she spent so much time making sure my placement was absolutely perfect. Super clean place with some awesome decorations inside!!

AJ did an amazing job for such a quick flash piece! I will definitely be returning in the future (maybe for a BG3 tattoo?)

After a lot of research and reading a ton of reviews I decided to go to Alter Ego to get second earlobe piercings and my frist cartilage piercing. The owner was absolutely amazing and took her time making sure everything looked perfect. I will recommend them to everyone. They are true professionals who care about their clients and stand behind their work. I cant wait to go back!

I had went into Alter Ego with my boyfriend who was getting a tattoo (done by Jessica) and he absolutely loved the environment. Everyone is very friendly and they answer any questions you may have. I decided to get my nose pierced while I was there and Katelin did a wonderful job! I highly recommend the Neometal jewelry as it is very good quality which is an option they give you. Loved it there!

This is my 3rd visit. They are all the best artists. I will never go anywhere else. I had A.J. today and he was great and very fast. It was the most enjoyable experience.

Amazing spot!! everyone was so helpful, chill and great to be around. Adam so kindly did my tattoo. It was a walk in coverup. They surpassed my expectations. I wish I left a review sooner but c’est la vie. It was hard for me. Anyways, I posted a pic & video below!! The first two were from when it was freshly done about two years ago. The last pic is now. After all my adventures I like how it’s aging. I also decided to add some lil pink & white to it later on with Adam too. Also I was helped with my new tragus piercing, two years and it’s still going strong with NO ISSUES!! I love it. The work was super well done, it’s lasted so well & the 4 hours of work was well worth it, well spent chatting! - Overall would highly recommend!!

Shop is super clean and organized, everyone is super friendly and professional. Kate, one of the piercers, is super thorough and professional and walks you through choices and what’s right for you. As well as the steps while performing the piercing. Every time I’ve gotten work has been an above and beyond experience with all of the artists.

Kate did an AMAZING JOB on my septum piercing! I have been thinking about it for years, after getting it extremely incorrectly and crookedly done at another place and it caused a lot of scar tissue, Kate told me it would be tough piercing to do- but she did it and it is absolutely perfect and it is straight. She always kills it, and she always keeps it real with you about the risks and possibilities. I’m so happy with my septum I wish I could give 10 stars! Love this place so much

I would totally recommend Alter Ego for any piercing needs. I went in just for a nose piercing and could not be more happy with my decision. Kate was AWESOME in EVERY WAY possible. Knowledgeable in her trade and totally made me feel at ease with my decision. She was very thorough with telling me the differences in all the different types of rings and what the pros and cons were of all. The staff here is fantastic, very knowledgeable, and friendly. I got my piercings changed out and my partner is afraid of needles but they helped him feel comfy enough to want to come here for piercings and tattoos. I can’t wait to come back for my next piece.

I had to get a flat back earring removed that was stuck. This was done at another piercing place. I had the pleasure of meeting Amanda who not only got the improperly placed earring out but she also put in a nice hoop into my already very ANGRY EAR! If I could give her 100 stars I would. The place is a hidden gem in the south hills! I was a walk in customer in a lot of pain and everyone there was fantastic. I highly recommend this piercing place. Very high standards for a clean & antiseptic work area. I cannot say enough good things about Amanda and her friendly colleagues.Do not hesitate to go here.

Had Amanda pierce my tragus, and she was AMAZING! She was fun and put me at ease. My tragus is small compared to many, and she found the perfect placement and pierced it perfectly straight through. Im SO happy!!! I highly recommend her!!

I got my first tattoo here today and the experience was wonderful. All of the stuff was super nice and was very easy to talk to especially if you get nervous. They helped me calm down when I was nervous. I love my tattoo and im glad that Aj was able to help me figure out what i really wanted because we had to switch tattoo ideas to cover up my old stick and poke. I definitely would recommend if its your first time!

Amazing staff, everyone there is so friendly! Amanda pierced both of my daughters in different locations on their ears. She was super clean, and actually took us just a bit later than usual because it was one of my daughters birthdays so that we could make dinner in the same night. She explained in detail the whole process so that no one was anxious about anything. Jess is so welcoming, as is the other gentleman that is an artist there. Highly recommend this location, we drove a half hour past many other places we could have chosen. We will be back! P.S. They are handicap accessible, I think I read somewhere that someone said theyre not...that is untrue.

Went here to get my nipples pierced and Katelyn was amazing! She made me feel so comfortable and gave thorough after care instructions. The shop is extremely clean and everyone I spoke with was super friendly, I will definitely be returning for all of my future piercings!

Best tattoo & piercing studio in town! The tattoo artists & piercers are all so talented, knowledgeable and kind. From the moment I walked in the door I felt so welcomed by everyone in the studio! As of today, I have gotten 3 tattoos at this studio as well as my septum pierced and I plan to get so much more. My daughter has also gotten 3 different piercings and my husband has gotten 3 tattoos too! This studio has the best environment, artists & piercers of any I’ve ever been to. I highly recommend them!

This was my first visit. I was a little nervous about getting my nose pierced, but Kate made me feel very comfortable. She took her time and explained the process every step of the way. I have been going to alter ego since 2008 when it was known as z spot. Got my first tattoo from Red and my first piercing from Dave. When I finally had the opportunity to go again after it was alter ego I went to Adam when he was just an apprentice. Adam has grown so much, especially with his black and gray, but he is extremely versatile and does amazing color pieces! He works extremely hard on placement, giving the client what they want and is a joy to be tattooed by! He has a soft touch so I would recommend him if youre a first timer and worried about pain! Jess, his mentor, is a goddess in the tattoo world! She is also extremely versatile, amazing at horror pieces and has been doing my sleeve for the past couple months and I love it more every time I look at my in progress piece! She excels at bringing your piece to life! Katelin, the owner, is an amazing piercer! Havent had the pleasure of getting any new piercings but her or Amanda, the other piercer, who just pierced my daughters ears for the first time are extremely thorough and patient in the process! Amanda made it so easy for my 13 year old and shes excited to get more! AJ, the newest addition to alter ego is Jessicas apprentice! He has done several pieces on my friend and has an amazing artistic eye! Once I finish my pieces with Adam and Jess I will be getting something from AJ! I would recommend him for anime pieces, feminine black and gray and honestly anything you could imagine! Hes quirky and fun to be around but also versatile from what Ive seen! Tldr: anyone in this shop you choose to get tattooed by, Jess, Adam or AJ will take the time to work with you, give you a piece youll love and make it an amazing memory making you want more! And if you choose to get pierced by Katelin or Amanda, theyll take the time to make you comfortable, add an ease to the process and give you the perfect piercing! The atmosphere is fun, relaxed and leaves you wanting more! No one in this shop will disappoint you with whatever youre looking to get!

I cannot say enough positive things about my experience with Amanda. She was able to squeeze me in on a busy day, but I never once felt like she was rushing, etc. Amanda removed a nose piercing from another shop that was not done well, and helped me decide on the best course of action. So happy with the results!

Took my 15 year old daughter for a navel piercing. She loves it, the process was smooth and clearly explained by Amanda who was AMAZING. Very patient and sweet, especially for a first timer who was a bit nervous (my child, not Amanda).

I got my septum pierced today by Kate. She was very knowledgeable and helpful through the whole process. She was very friendly and relatable. It’s also a bonus that when you walk into the studio, you automatically get a “good vibes” feeling. Friendly and caring staff.

So I got piercings done by Kate recently and she was amazing! So nice and calm. She made me feel very comfortable and explained everything to me thoroughly before getting them done! I have been pierced there by Amanda and she is a master of her craft and was able to answer questions with intelligent thoughtful information. Its a good time, every time. Fantastic studio! They helped me out with cleaning up my nose piercing twice (I got it done at another studio - the stud fell out and the hole closed up). I was so pleased with their customer service and approachability that I scheduled a tattoo appointment and I am VERY pleased. All of the staff is friendly and kind. Tattoos, piercings and body jewelry are affordable and very high quality. Thank you specifically to Katelin for helping out with my nose piercing and Ronald for the awesome tattoo!

My first experience at alter ego was with my friend who came here to get her first tattoo. At first, I thought she was coming here solely because shes related to the owner. But, once we walked in and I seen how professional and friendly the staff was I knew this was not the case. The artists truly go to great lengths to ensure the customer is happy and her tattoo turned out AMAZING. We went back two weeks later to get a piercing done. The pricing was great and my piercing turned out great. I got my tongue pierced for the second time and it healed so much faster! It wasnt crooked, which happened with my first one at a different shop, and most importantly I received detailed after care instructions! I will definitely be referring all my friends to alter ego as well as returning for all my future tattoos and piercings. Thanks guys!

I came in to see Joe about an old tattoo I wanted finished/fixed and he did an amazing job! I appreciate that he listened to my ideas and made suggestions on what he thought would look best with the existing work. Ive gone to Dave for years for all of my piercings and Ive always had a great experience. He is very well skilled in sterilization methods and the place is always really clean. He goes over the after care in detail and knows the answer to every question I have. Everyone is very friendly and nice. I went to Aaron at Alter Ego on my birthday. I had given him a picture of what I wanted but he made some changes to it and made it bigger than what I had shown him. It was the Taurus constellation and he went so far as to pull up the star line and impose the tattoo on top of that to make sure he got the correct configuration of my constellation. He was so nice to me, so friendly and personable. It was a great experience and I highly recommend the shop and Aaron. He is a fantastic artist. He told me that his tattoos dont really scab that much and Im so amazed that mine isnt scabbing the way my other two tattoos did. If I decide to ever get another tattoo, I will go see Aaron again. And I am telling everyone where I got this tattoo done. Thanks Aaron! You made my birthday special!

I wouldnt go anywhere else for a body piercing-- and Ive had a lot of experience with piercing studios! Clean, professional, good prices, high-quality jewelry. Dave really knows what hes doing and Ive always been completely satisfied with the level of service Ive received,. If you have a problem with any of their work they will fix it no questions asked. I got seven piercings there, five of which were nonstandard, and theyve all been great.

This Body Art studio is the best place to possibly go to make you feel comfortable and at ease. I went in for a walk in appointment to get my tongue pierced today 12/26/17 and three of the artists were waiting at the front counter, including Jaime who did my piercing today. As soon as I walked in, they greeted me and told me the piercing will be quick and easy. I got to pick out 2 gems for the top ball of my piercing and then I was ready to go. Jaime introduced himself and got to know a little bit about me. He explained the procedure, what to expect, and what he needs me to do to cooperate. Everything he explained, is exactly what I needed in order to have a great experience. I would recommend this place a 1,001 times over any other piercing place. I am so lucky to have the experience I did. ❤️❤️

I’m an older woman. I have four piercings, two in each ear lobe. Three of them had the skin in the back of the ear grow closed. I called on the phone they said just stop in. I did. I sat there for more than a half an hour and no one approached me. I could hear the girls talking in the back like i wasn’t even there. I guess an old ladies money is no good to them. I left and went to Pyramid Tattoo in Bridgeville. Leana, not sure i spelled her name right said she could fix me up in minutes. She did! I was there maybe 15 minutes tops. All my piercings are open and it was completely painless and not that expensive. Alter Ego needs lessons on customer service at the least, they should go to school for business.

This place is beyond AMAZING!! From the time I stepped in to get information, I was treated very nicely. My mom came in from out of town and we did mother/daughter tattoos. This shop went out of their way to make the experience special for my mom and I. Our artist Red did a wonderful job on our designs. He put a lot of thought into them. It really came through with all the minor details he did in our tattoos. Not to mention all he did to make the day special. We were treated like family from day 1. Our experience will be remembered for a lifetime!

Very nice, clean and friendly shop! Everyone made me feel very comfortable which I really appreciate. I was nervous as I haven’t had a tattoo done in a long time. Also was a bit embarrassed as I had a few ideas of what I wanted but still undecided. My tattoo artist was Ronald and I couldn’t be more happy with his work!!! He was very patient with me as he listened to my ideas and then drew me up my perfect tattoo. A beautiful bird for my right shoulder blade that would cover up another tattoo I regretted getting years ago. I love this bird so much that I came back in two weeks to have him draw me up/tattoo another bird on the opposite shoulder blade. I’m currently having him tattoo a joining piece in the middle. Getting tattoos can be addictive excpecially when you really like the work! This is a great shop full of talented artists. Another artist Aaron did a piece on my neck which he put together himself and I love it! Go to this shop, you will NOT be disappointed! All the artists are nice, super talented and I think they are very affordable compared to other shops.

I was recommended to Alter Ego by a friend for piercing. They are very thorough, very clean, and very knowledgeable. I am not a first timer at piercing, but my sister-in-law was: they answered all of her questions thoroughly and walked her through the whole process to put her mind at ease and were thorough explaining all of the necessary information and aftercare to both of us.

I went in to get a jewelry change for my Tragus piercing after having it for such a long time. I knew I wasn’t going to be able to change out the jewelry myself and Kate helped me tremendously. She suggested a piece of jewelry just like my last one and even tried a couple different post lengths to make sure I got the right piece for my ear. Thank you Kate!

Aaron is an amazing talent. He looked at some images I found, listened to what I wanted, offered some recommendations and then designed an absolutely incredible piece. I cannot recommend him more. I recently had a tattoo done by Red at this shop. He was wonderful to work with. His ideas made the tattoo even better than Id imagined. It is gorgeous and I feel so lucky to have it on my body.Then, two weeks ago I decided I need to get a nostril piercing. Dave was professional. He had an inhale/exhale method that made the piercing barely hurt as he pushed it through.In both cases, the aftercare instructions were easy to follow. For the tattoo, Red even gave me an all-natural ointment to care for it.I cant recommend this clean and professional shop enough.

Kaitlyn pierced my daughters belly button today and she is absolutely amazing. She explained everything, asked if we had any questions and made sure we left knowing exactly how to care for the piercing. The first time I got a piercing here, I was blown away by the experience, and now it is the only place I will get a piercing! Everyone is incredibly kind, and really cares about doing a good job.

I brought my 5 year old daughter here to get her ears pierced. Jamie was incredibly nice and very communicative with my daughter which she loved. Jamie was very thorough and explained everything to my daughter. After Jamie started to pierce her first ear my daughter freaked. Jamie was very calm and completely understanding. She tried to reassure her but allowed her to sit and calm down and was incredibly patient. My daughter wanted nothing to do with it but Jamie (and her husband) were so understanding. Since I had already paid and I was thinking about getting my own cartilage pierced, Jamie was able to pierce mine instead of my daughters. They even said that if she ever changes her mind that she is welcome back at any time. I definitely wont go anywhere else for piercings and I look forward to getting a tattoo there in the future.

Great piercing artist! I had to get my daith switched out for diagnostic imaging. Kate is 100% a professional. She taught me how to care properly for my piercing (I was doing it wrong), was quick, and is just a rad person in general.

The piercists are fast and to say that it was clean would be an understatement! I would highly recamend Altered Ego to anyone looking for a tattoo, body piercing or branding. The owners (Dave and Jamie) are sticklers for cleanliness and professionalism which just inforced my personal lever of comfort regarding the entire shop.

Great service! Kate made me feel very welcome and in good hands. I highly recommend this place for piercings (have not yet had the pleasure of getting a tattoo there; therefore, cant speak to that).

The establishment is very clean and hygienic and my experiences with the staff have been nothing but fabulous. Dave has done 6 dermals for me. He took the time to walk me through the process and provided his honest opinion.Cant get much better than this place for piercings! Highly recommend to friends and family.

Highly recommend! Not only are the folks talented and friendly, but they have excellent sterilization standards. I wish PA held other tattoo and piercing shops to the high standards set by Alter Ego.

I get all my tattoos done by Ron here and hes honestly the best tattoo artist Ive ever met imo. My skin is very hard to tattoo due to extensive scarring from an accident that I was in and Ron always takes into account what my skin can and cant handle. He charges me fair prices, does amazing work and is super friendly.

I respect all the artists, Sarah is just an all around awesome person. She may not have done any work on me, but she was great on Ink Master, and when I talked with her at the shop. Ryan is one of the best artists Ive ever met. So down to earth, but at the same time, tells it like it is when he needs to. He took some time out of his day to give my daughter some pointers about her art. If youve never been to this shop and want a good tattoo, get you ass on the phone and book an appt. You WONT be disappointed.....I promise!!

I cant say enough good things about this shop. They are very clean and professional. The staff are a bunch of amazing, kind people they they do phenomenal work. They always make sure you leave happy and do offer free touch ups on work they have done (even though I have never needed one its still nice to have that guarantee). They have amazing flash sheets but also do amazing custom work.

We were on our way to another tattoo shop when I happened to read a review posted by @Baby Blue ... in it he called the shop a estrogen tank filled with children of the corn.... and from that we decided that we just had to go and get tattooed there!!!! The shop and those that worked there COULD NOT have been NICER nor MORE PROFESSIONAL. I had a very POSITIVE experience. Jessica is so talented and so patient (I was indecisive) and when I FINALLY made up my mind I was INSTANTLY in LOVE with my tattoo!!!!! I cannot wait to get my next piece !!!!! Thank you Jessica... Got a nostril pierced by Katelin. Super friendly and knowledgeable, made the whole experience great. Developed a keloid, went back a month later and her solution (tea tree oil) has worked like a charm. Shop is very clean and has a chill vibe. Highly recommended!

Although I had a good experience at the actual piercing and with the staff I’m really disappointed with my navel piercing. They use externally threaded jewelry which I now know, too late obviously, is very harmful. As well, the stone in my navel ring came loose. The worst part is that even though it’s been 1.5 years, my navel piercing remains irritated and not healed even after meticulous care.

I loved the knowledge of the staff, and the laid back atmosphere (which I expected). Often I have seen this hard to combine in other shops. I went in for one piece. I made an appointment for another before I left. The skill level of the artists makes all but the most detailed pieces move along quickly. My second piece was started by one artist who really helped me put into picture what I was thinking. It was a two -appointment process because of some of the detail. She had to leave the shop for personal reasons and was unable to finish my piece. Stanley took on the piece to finish it for me. Lets just say that I have had some famous compliments regarding the finished piece to pass on to him. I am proud to show off the work and say where I had it done.

I have had piercings done by Dave and have a work in progress with Red on a beautiful Skullerfly. They are very fun people to be with. Their shop is immaculately clean. They are very professional with every aspect of their business. I have seen them actually counsel people against stupid tattoos. I have had tattoos from other artists, but Red is now my only artist. I have seen Stanley do his thing and his art is off the hook. I have and will recommend this shop to anyone who has a need for ink or bling. Prices are higher than some shops, but the quality is so worth it.

Great environment, all their artists are spectacular and hold great conversations. Their piercer is wonderful as well and very experienced. Always great music playing, just an all around fantastic shop.

Came in as a walk-in and got two piercings from Amanda Armstrong. super nice, super respectful and very helpful. Definitely will be coming back.

I would not suggest getting your first piercing here. When I got my lip piercing they put a permanent hoop in. This means I have to go back and pay money to get it removed. They also told me to wash with regular soap and use mouthwash. Since Ive never had a pericing I took their advice. A few days later my lip is very swollen, I havent eaten in a few days, Im not able to drink or even use a straw, my lip is swollen so bad that I can barely even move my mouth to talk. My friend (whos had many piercings) then told me that who ever told me to use regular soap was very uneducated. I am now trying to fix my infection with salt water solution and basic mouth hygiene.Over all the whole experience was awful bc I got my lip done on Friday the 13th after waiting in an 8 hour line and they even promised we would all get tattoos. They cut the line off right when they got to me and I decided to get a piercing. I didnt even really want the piercing but I wasnt about to wait 8 hours and waste my whole day for no reason. The least the piericer could have done was tell me the CORRECT way to clean a piercing.Update: even called the place to try to sort this all out (asked for a manager and the person on the line said they could take care of me, proably not the manager. If he was then he wasnt acting professional at all) they just told me I was wrong and acted like they did nothing wrong. They didnt even try to help me with my infection by reccomending products ro clean it out or help with swelling. I told them i wasnt able to eat and that I had lost an unhealthy amount of weight. The person on the phone then told me that it wasnt their problem. The lack of care is disgusting.Good thing I figured it out myself. Im never going back to this place and Im going to make sure no one I know has to deal with this kind of treatment.

Love the staff..they always make you feel very comfortable. I got my nose pierced yesterday and paid way to much.$50 when most places do it for $35. I should have asked first cause I would have had it done elsewhere.

The tattoo I received was wonderful and it looks great, but I did not appreciate the degradation of my other tattoos. I was told that had I seen them, they would have done a better job and that I shouldnt have gotten two of my tattoos done at all.
