Gypsy Tattoo Parlor

I spent 30 years planning my tattoo and 5 years picking a place to get it. I made the best decision by going to Gypsy Tattoo! This is a woman owned and staffed business that has been around for over 10 years. I felt very safe and comfortable from the first interaction to last. I’m a 52 year old woman who got a forearm sleeve as my first tattoo. I looked at dozens of places in the tri-state area and spoke to many people before picking this parlor. The artists who work there are so talented and each has extraordinary experience and education. The owner, Michelle, went to Parsons school for design! The artists there are known for being gentle and professional. I was offered many breaks but I didn’t need them because Michelle was so gentle.They answered all my questions patiently and educated me throughout the whole process. I followed their after care instructions and my tattoo healed perfectly and quickly. Not a day goes by without someone complimenting me about my tattoos and asking where I got them. The detail and precision is beyond any tattoo I’ve seen elsewhere. I’ve had several close friends who go there and they all feel the same as me. Also, it’s very clean and cool atmosphere with a fish tank 🥰. This is a very LGBTQIA+ friendly business. What you must know and be prepared for is that good tattoo parlors sometimes have a long wait list. I waited 5 months for my appointment with Michelle. And it isn’t super cheap but you get what you paid for. She doesn’t charge for the designing process and only charged me for actual tattoo time. I knew the cost up front and people tell me the price was reasonable for the amount of work I had done . The pictures attached are from 4 months post tattoo. The pictures do not do the piece justice because I’m not great taking pictures with one hand and my phone camera kinda sucks. And my skin was a little dry. Just know there are actually NO places that faded or blurred. The lines are actually dark and continuous.

Great little shop that’s been around. Emiliana has done 3 personal tattoos for me and I couldn’t be happier. She does great work and creates a comfortable environment. Always looking forward to my next!

Emiliana is such a pleasure to work with. Shes kind, talented, and truly an artist. This was my first tattoo and she made it a wonderful experience. She took the ideas I gave her and turned it into what I exactly wanted. Im in love with my tattoo. So grateful.

Emilianas artistry has given us a timeless tribute to our Mom, and I cant imagine going anywhere else for a tattoo. She has gained a lifelong customer in me, and I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone seeking a meaningful tattoo experience.

I got my very first tattoo with Emily just two days after I moved to Pittsburgh. Words cannot describe how positive my experience was; the shop was so cute, welcoming, and clean. All the staff were so friendly too! Highly highly recommend this place, especially Emily as an artist. She’s very talented, sweet, and helped guide me through my first tattoo experience perfectly!

Emily is a skilled tattoo artist was wonderful! She took her time with me and we went through several variations of my original design. She explained what would and wouldn’t work. The actual tattooing was almost painless. Emily has a light and careful touch and highly recommend her!!!

I would 100% recommend this place (especially for people who are getting a tattoo for this first time). My artist was Emily, she was so easy to talk to, didnt put any pressure on me when I was changing the stencil position, and overall fun to be around. Ty again!!

Got this sweet little deer from zhen’s flash! they were absolutely amazing, very informative of exactly what they would be doing and seeking consent before starting and moving me. the whole shop was friendly and warm and inviting and I can’t wait to book again!

Michelle was great! Shes nice, funny, and cares about the well-being of her clients. She fully realized the idea I had for a tattoo, and Im very pleased with it. Highly recommended.

Ive never had an artist reject a tattoo idea. It was a symbol and simple and it was for my bday. I had already scheduled with another artist anyway because they dont make themselves very available. They dont answer the phone and you have to navigate through their page to contact them and wait for a response back. I have paid good money for my tattoos and I was looking for someone who I would continue to come back to. I think its just unprofessional and they are more self serving than interested in gaining clients. She was not rude in her email but it just doesnt sit right with me and Im sure Im not the first. So be wary of this shop.

Literally obsessed with my experience at Gypsy Tattoo Parlor. Firstly, the fact that it’s female owned and employs all females is the best. The vibe and atmosphere is so friendly and welcoming. I received a tattoo from Emily and it exceeded my expectations. It’s truly my favorite tattoo I have. I cant wait to get more done from her. The booking process was very efficient and effective. I felt like my wants for a tattoo were met exactly where I wanted them to be. Emily offered suggestions on placement limits based on longevity of the art and was great about checking in to make sure I was doing alright throughout the process. I felt very heard. It was overall the best experience I’ve had receiving a tattoo. Perk is that she has a grand aquarium with fish that you can watch while getting your tattoo. Very cool vibes. Very great time. 200/10 experience.

I got my tattoo from Jules and she was amazing!! I was nervous because it was my first big tattoo and she was so cool the whole time and made me feel so comfortable. She did a perfect job I couldn’t be happier with the result and will be going to her for my next one!

My experience with Emily was fantastic! It was my first tattoo and she explained everything very clearly and checked with me throughout the process. She also happily answered all my questions and i never felt rushed. The shop is clean and friendly. I love my tattoo and will cherish it forever!

Had a great experience here with Emily. She was booked a few months out, but her assistant was super friendly and attentive to get me scheduled and feel heard. Emily didn’t rush me, made sure the placement was perfect, and had great conversation while she tattooed me. I can’t wait to come back for more tattoos from her!!

I was in Pittsburgh for only a few days and asked to schedule a tattoo, and they worked with me to set it up so quick and simply, I couldnt appreciate it enough!!!! The work was great too, and the artists were extremely friendly and professional. Lovely experience highly recommend

I went to Emiliana for my first tattoo and i could not have been happier. She took an idea i had and really turned it into something beautiful. The store was cute and very clean. I definitely plan on going back at some point for another tattoo!

We met Cynthia at the Asbury Park tattoo convention. They were very cool and had adorable flash. We couldnt get a tattoo then so we decided to stop by when we were in town. The shop was super friendly. Cynthia is a sweetie. Gentle artist with great bedside manner. Love my pieces. Highly recommend this shop!

I got my first tattoo here a week ago. Laura Lee was my artist and she was so welcoming and really made my first experience as comfortable as possible. The other artists were also very welcoming and I felt really at ease. Will definitely be back and recommend to others.

Michelle was an absolute pleasure to work with. I asked her to design a tattoo to honor the memory of my dog who was incredibly important to me. From her first email, I felt confident that she understood the emotional significance this tattoo would have for me and she was thorough and caring throughout the entire process. Michelle is a fantastic artist, but she is also a deeply kind and warm person and she made sure I was happy and comfortable through the entire process. My tattoo is exactly what I hoped it would be, and I am so, so glad I chose this shop.

Hello,I had new art ink added onto a previous piece of mine last summer.....Its taken some time to actually make the time to type up this review. I look at my tat daily and absolutely love it! Robbie did a great Job! Clean lines, soft shading! Quite gentle for the sensitive ribcage area. Everyone was very professional and super kind, great experience! Would definitely recommend and stop back again for any future art.

First of all the tattoo parlor was easy to find and ample parking. Walk in and was instantly welcomed in and met Emily. She was awesome, very informative and willing to work with sizing and placement. I know Ill definitely go back for another amazing tattoo.

My experience was absolutely perfect, I highly recommend them! I can’t say enough good. I got a cover up tattoo from Robbie around a year and a half ago, and he is amazing! I attached the before and after comparison photo too.We corresponded through email many times before the session, as he was so considerate and made sure that every last detail was perfect. If I decide to get any more tattoos, I will definitely be going to him!

My son and I both got tattoos from Michelle. Her artwork is unbelievable. She takes the time to make sure that you are happy with the final product. She is an amazing artist and an incredible woman who truly cares. This was my first tattoo and I cant imagine going anywhere else.

I had such an amazing experience getting my first and second tattoo here. All of the staff were super nice and friendly and took all the steps to make sure I was comfortable and welcomed. The parlor is queer staffed and queer friendly which is super cool! Just make sure to bring cash and youll have a great time.

Beautiful shop! You walk in and you almost dont think its a tattoo shop, it looks more like a comfortable and modern spa. The women that own the shop are incredibly sweet and talented. This is a custom tattoo parlor with a great vision and a great sense of community. I recently got a tattoo here in a tender spot and the whole process felt amazing. From choosing styles to picking a spot to actually putting this art in my skin, every step on their end was carried out with the upmost patience and consideration.Great artwork + Great artists + Great space + Great prices = The most wonderful tattooing experience that I will return here over any other Pittsburgh spot again and again.

Absolutely terrible communication skills. I have called many times and sent many emails and could not get a hold of anyone. I even went down to the shop (during hours) and it was closed. Does this place just not want clients?After weeks of trying to get a hold of someone (my mistake-- if it takes that long, just go somewhere else. I was just into their work and really wanted to get my tattoos done here.) Josh finally responded to emails apologizing for not seeing them. Ok. Whatever.I gave him some of my days off coming up but he said, Oh that wont work. Our artist are sometimes booked weeks, MONTHS in advance! This is pretty normal for tattoo artists, I get it. But honestly I think this place was just trying to make them sound more popular than they really are.Anyway. He said he would forward my availability to Robbie and that Robbie would get in touch with me.Well I never heard from Robbie and Im definitely done with trying with this place after some months. Im not sure if its because I only wanted a small piece done for now while I plan out some bigger ones. Maybe they thought I just wasnt worth their time. Nevertheless, they really need to work on their communication skills. I wouldnt waste your time with this place. Dont make my mistake.

My favorite tattoo parlor in Pittsburgh! It has always been super clean and everyone who works there is super friendly and talented! Theyre only taking appointments rn but I highly recommend them!

This parlor has a very relaxed spa - meets - art gallery feel. The artists are kind, passionate and qualified (no fear of infection here!) and have done a wonderful job cultivating a place that is comfortable for the female/lgbtq crowd who wouldnt necessarily feel at home in the macho heavy metal atmosphere of your stereotypical tattoo parlor. The free touch ups for life is a nice bonus too, and indicates a clear desire to maintain a relationship with past clients. Highly recommended

I was very excited to work with one of the artists here, and she claimed she would love to work on this piece, however she the only date she could fit me in was over 5 months away. Now this isnt unreasonable, but I needed some extra time to think about it, and did what I considered the respectful move of asking if I could have some time to think. She said yes and gave me a week. I responded 6 days later (Clearly within the time limit she gave me) and said I was okay with that date. At this point, she waited 12 days before responding saying that she booked someone else for that time, and tried to blame me for responding too late. Having reread the emails, and shared them with others, everyone has agreed that I followed her instructions to the letter.Upon realising her mistake, she did not take the reasonable options of:-Rescheduling the other client who had booked later than I did-Offering an alternative date for me-Reccomending me to another artistInstead, she tried to shift the blame and offer no recourse for her mistake, much less explain the egregious period of silence between our agreement on the date and her later refusal. I believe them to be talented artists based on their previous work, but this behaviour was disgusting to see, and I recommend anyone else be wary when trying to schedule with them.

Got my first tattoo in 10 years and Laura H. was awesome and one of the only artists I could find to do an ear tat. Exactly what I wanted. Great artist, great shop, great work. Ill be heading back soon for another.

The artist decided not to follow the drawing and go freehand on my back. I had no idea until looking in the mirror afterwards and the shock and sense of violation to my body are indescribable.Edit: Owner now claiming they have no record of the several hundred dollars I spent in this shop shows a remarkable lack of concern for the issues presented and ethics. While it took me some time to publicly disclose this information, Im sure records of my multiple visits (for consultations as well as the actual tattooing) still exist if they really cared to look for them.

Clean, beautiful, comfortable and professional. Queer friendly. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a tattoo or piercing with a better experience than your typical parlor. Gypsy Tattoo feels more like a salon than a tattoo parlor. It is woman-owned.

I have had nothing but absolutely wonderful experiences here. Michelle and the other artists have created an incredibly welcoming environment. They also offer a variety of styles by talented artists.

Got a flash tattoo from Lee today. Not only were they technically proficient and accurate, but they were kind, polite, and generous. Cant say enough about lee and my time there. 10/10 recommend!

Very good experience. I got to work directly with my artist for a while before I got my tattoo. They worked with me to give me exactly what I wanted. Not too expensive, but definitely worth the price.
