I’ve been to lots of tattoo shops and this is one of the best. I love the museum aspect, but also just the artists working there are all so wonderfully kind and non-judgmental. I originally went to Jill for a consult and she actually referred me to Abby and I am so glad she did. I got a lot of work done with Abby in a short time and she exceeded expectations. I’ve since moved away from Pittsburgh but I would make the trip back just to get tattooed by Abby again! 10/10 recommend them for cleanliness, professionalism, and atmosphere.
Tattooing done right. Precision work done in a friendly atmosphere. The curated collection of artifacts and designs offers an in-depth glimpse of tattoo history. The folks here get it. Jill, Nick, Scud and Abby can make all your skin dreams a reality. Love the walk down approach to the shop from the street, both classic and clandestine! 10/10.
Great experience with Abby Rose. She created a design from an original sketch we brought to her. She’s an amazing artist, highly skilled and kind. The space has a very cool museum collection, clean and sophisticated, cool place. Highly recommend!
Very interesting place. Very educational. Full of old tattoo memorabilia. Nick, one of the owners, can tell you all about the pieces on display. Traditional tattoos applied on the premises. Very knowledgeable and professional. Must visit when in Pittsburgh. Will come back.
This will always be my favorite and forever place to come for my tattoos. All of the artists are extremely talented, and very welcoming. The environment is serene. I love all of the plants and artwork thats displayed, especially the original sketches and machines. Their collection is extremely impressive, and their knowledge even more so. This is a museum that you can leave, with your favorite pieces on you. If i could give more than a 5 star review, i would and will always recommend this shop.
My husband and I had the best time hanging out with Nick and Abby today! Great tattoos, clean lines, super nice people. The museum had an incredible collection of tattoo history. We will definitely be back next time we are in town!
Ive been going to Jill for about 4 years now and im always blown away by her work so talented and just an amazing person. Nick and Jill have made such a knowledgable place to learn some history and they always make you feel welcomed! 10/10 worth the stop! ♡
I got a tattoo from Scud. Some people call him Nick but I don’t. He was very nice, super pro, and the tattoo healed perfectly. It was of a muscle man. It looks great. I also learned a lot about tattoo history while waiting but it wasn’t boring the way learning usually is. It was fun!
Its a museam and a tattoo shop. They have some really cool old tattoo flash sheets, books, and machines. Even if youre not looking for a tattoo its worth a stop just for the museum.Everyone is super friendly and talented. Highly recommend everyone here. You cant go wrong with this shop. Its a hidden gem.
Jill is incredibly talented, I’m unbelievably happy with the tattoos she’s done for me. Excellent service, atmosphere in the museum is clean, inviting and professional. Can’t recommend her enough.
Jill just kills it every time. The museum has such cool features, and the tattoo studio is so clean and professional. I love every tattoo I’ve gotten there!
I can’t recommend this place enough. The museum is fascinating and has a little bit of everything. They are very knowledgeable and more than happy to answer any questions. Nick and Jill created a great environment that’s friendly, fun and relaxing.I’ve been getting tattooed by Jill for the last couple of years. She’s a great tattooer, I leave always excited about what I just got. She can work with your idea or help add to it. She has great flash to pick from too.
Great experience. Clean professional traditional shop. Also a well curated collection of vintage tattoo items. Will definitely be back. 👍
Fantastic tattoo location and museum. They respect the origins of the art of tattooing and apply that in the modern day as well as the customer/visitor. This is not a place that is trying to be something more than it is (something that many tattoo places do), but embraces history and knowledge. If I lived in the area, this would be my go to place for sure.
Love this spot! The museum itself is lots of fun; I love reading the permission slips and checking out the designs of the past. The shop is clean and welcoming. Jill has done a couple of tattoos for me and I will continue going back. Both artists are very friendly and approachable, they’re professional and like really REALLY good. You can’t go wrong checking this place out.
I 💚 Pittsburgh Tattoo Art Museum!Jill is great. Her work is beautiful, and she is an absolute joy to share space with. She is a master artist—she took my prompts and DELIVERED. She’s done a sleeve and 2 forearm pieces for me over the last year or so. They are all incredible and get lots of love out in the wild. I’m already planning on going back to her for another piece later this year.I haven’t met Nick, but knowing Jill, I can only imagine that he is equally awesome. The museum is super cool. I got a sneak preview earlier this year before they opened, and I’m excited to go back soon and see everything all labeled and final. They’ve poured themselves into the place, and it shows. If you’re still reading this then you should probably get in their books already. 😜
Jill and Nick have created a wonderful environment for learning some amazing tattoo history. They’re both incredibly humble, kind, and knowledgeable and would recommend stopping in to have a look at their collection, or better yet getting a great piece of art on yourself!
The museum is beautiful, and while I was waiting to get tattooed Nick himself gave me a guided tour. Jill designed a great image with the ideas I gave her! I had a lot of fun talking with her the whole time and was super happy with my tattoo. 10/10 would recommend.
Incredible experience and unbelievable amount of knowledge/history! Jill is an incredible artist and great to chat with. She puts her heart and soul into every piece she does and it shows! The museum is amazing to browse and includes the coolest things! I can’t wait to go back!
5 stars! Nice clean atmosphere. Got a beautiful tattoo from my friend Charlie and had a lot of history in this museum. Check this place out if your in Pittsburgh.
Ive recommended Jill Krznaric to everyone who has asked me about my tattoos for years. Shes the best! Professional and clean work that speaks for itself. Her and her partner, Nick have put so much work and care into this museum showcasing tattoo history in a respectful way that its absolutely worth the trip to Shadyside if youre in the Pittsburgh area to check out.
Incredibly polite and well informed. You don’t have to be a “tattoo person” to visit. The shop is one of the greatest collection of historical tattoo artifacts on display. Definitely worth the trip.
While the museum focuses by necessity on the American experience with tattoos, the history thats on display is knowledgeable and enthusiastically shared with visitors and I think one can walk away with a great understanding of the art and how it has grown in the US. Its a small museum but absolutely worth a quick visit if youre in the area.
Amazing. Met with Abby for a consult, so sweet and creative, and Nic whipped this moon out. So professional and well versed. All of them.
Jill is absolutely amazing, one of my favorite tattoers in Pittsburgh! If you want a rad American traditional tattoo she’s your girl!!
Jill is always respectful and a pleasure to work with. Fair prices, clean shop, excellent art work.
Cool location. The guy was very informative and you could also get a tattoo done here I believe.
Museum was small but cute, donations recommended
Great work!
