Stone the Crow Tattoo

I’ve been to see Danny over the last year for an ongoing project that’s turning into a sleeve. First the ram, then a Polynesian inspired black and grey small sleeve, now the mecha Panther. They’ve all turned out great and I love them. Danny is a great artist and really did a nice job with all the line work these entailed. He always has excellent suggestions. Staff is cool and shop is clean and inviting. I definitely recommend.

My favorite place to get tattoos! The artists are friendly, professional, and thoughtful. The shop is clean, comfortable, bright, and open. Really nice tattoo parlor in rockville with friendly employees, a welcoming clean atmosphere and most importantly great artists. Special shout out to Celide, she did a wonderful job.

I decided to get a tattoo here because I was sick of DC tattoo artists, and I was pleasantly surprised. It is very obvious that all the staff cares about their work, and is excited to create with you. They take pride in not only their work, but the tattoo shop as a whole. I hope that everyone gets the chance to design with them because everyone is extremely talented.

One of the nicer tattoo shops I have been to! There is a nice lobby area for you to relax and chill before your tattoo appointment. I recommend having Celide do your tattoo. She did mine and was amazing at it. She makes sure you are comfortable and periodically checks up on you. She makes sure that if you need a break she will give it to you. Her line work is amazing and I loved the color she did. I definitely recommend Celide (or anyone) and stone the crow to anyone who needs a good tattoo!

Danny has done almost all of my tattoos and my brothers. The one on my forearm I got at least6 years ago and I get compliments on it everyday with most saying how new it looks! For my recent one he fit me into his schedule and knocked out a beautiful signature. Everyone in the shop is really nice and friendly after getting my tattoo and was checking out ended up in a funny conversation about places in the area. Great place and great environment.

I had such a great experience at Stone the Crow. Steve did my tattoo over 4 sessions. Having an artist that is easy to talk to is important to me. Steve was very professional, yet easy to relate to. He made me feel comfortable each time and made the time pass quickly with great conversation. He is also a very talented artist. The colors he uses are vibrant. In fact, his ability to tattoo with vibrant color is the reason I chose him after having done research on other artists at other shops. Oh.. and I forgot to mention that my tattoo was a cover up. You cant even tell there used to be another tattoo there!The shop is very clean. Everything is sanitized immediately after use. The ink is organic and safe. The atmosphere is inviting and laid back. What I really liked is that there is enjoyable music played throughout the shop, not blaring head banging or hard rap like I have heard at other shops, which always would set me on edge. I felt calm the entire time.The artists have a good rapport with each other and they are always joking around with each other. That makes the environment feel friendly and open also.There is a lot of really cool art on the walls to look at. There is even a pool table in the middle of the waiting area!The front desk staff is friendly and professional too.I recommend this shop to anyone looking to get a tattoo. Although Christian has done several of my tattoos, and several of people in my family, Im disappointed in his customer relations. For one, he gave me a tattoo that is not close to what I wanted. He charged me an extra $50 because he had trouble conceptualizing it, and then said he hated the tattoos he gave me before (which I personally loved). Negative energy, and Im stuck with a tattoo that I need to get covered up by another artist when I find them. Furthermore, he was rude to my daughter when she reached out to him for a touchup. He told her that he undercharged for his work (he had quoted her a price, which she paid). He also then complained about the tips that he was given by our family (and lied, saying he was never tipped, which is not only untrue, but also very bad business.) He is obviously full of his ego, so beware.

This was my daughters first tattoo. The staff are very friendly and professional. STC is very clean, bright and inviting. Eric is an amazing tattoo artist and made her feel very relaxed and at ease. I would recommend them to anyone.

I had two piercings done by Andy yesterday, and my experience was absolutely great. He was so kind and gentle. The fact that he didn’t push or make me feel like there was no turning back really made me want to follow through with it even more. The pain wasn’t too bad and he really took his time with the placement. Day two and I’m not in any pain, and no swelling. I would absolutely recommend this shop. Such a great guy and the shop is so beautiful, clean, and spacious…10/10

Went to Danny for a cover up of a 40 year old tattoo. That evolved into a multi-month, multi-visit 1/2 sleeve. Danny has a great eye for design and color. His suggestions were always spot on and the work - his artistry- is stunningly beautiful. As an older guy I’m most impressed by his understanding of skin. Never did I bleed a lot and that helped with keep the colors vivid.Everyone in the shop draws very straight lines and they all are extremely versatile at drawing different styles.Highly recommend Stone the Crow. You can’t go wrong.

Danny is a solid artist and very professional. Great communication with his clients, and he is very flexible with last minute bookings. Have had many tattoos done by him, have always been satisfied! Best in the area. Shop is super clean, staff is super friendly and a very welcoming environment.

Stone the Crow Tattoo is a gem. The artists are top notch, and the location and ambience are great. I went for my first tattoo this past weekend, and the experience and outcome went well beyond my expectations. Celide did my tattoo - and her work was creative, beautiful, and to perfection. She has a wonderful, uplifting personality too, and she immediately put me (a tattoo newbie) at ease. In fact, shes so good at her craft that before she finished, I was contemplating a return for another tattoo. Music is a passion that runs in my family, and I went to Stone the Crow in pursuit of a tattoo that captured that passion. I sent Celide several ideas in advance, and she came up with a design that was better than the bunch that I shared, with a style that was uniquely hers. No doubt, thats the sign of a true artist who knows how to connect with a client and bring a vision to life.

Best tattoos ever. Connor was extremely helpful and I am so glad he encouraged me to come here. Scheduling the tattoo went incredibly well and I will be coming back. Great organization, especially front desk staff kind with unique and cool tattoos. Love it!

Danny is a phenomenal artist in addition to being kind, funny, and easy to work with. I am always impressed by the high standard Stone the Crow holds all of their employees to as well as their high standard of cleanliness and sanitation in all their practices. Their front desk staff is responsive, their prices are in line with the area and their skill level. I wouldn’t go anywhere else locally for high quality work.

This is an amazing place. Went to Livia for my first tattoo and she designed it perfectly. It came out better than I had even imagined in my head. She also has a gentle touch, the experience was fantastic. The two front desk staff (sorry for not catching their names) were so welcoming and so nice. They were constantly checking on me to make sure I was doing okay, offered me water. The studio is clean and friendly. There was also another tattoo artist there who was very friendly with us as well. I mean overall just awesome. Highly recommend!

Once I started going to STC I have never gonna anywhere else for my tattoos. I always see Danny, who is super talented, and an amazing artist and tattooer, and the perfect artist for my chosen style. Meg is incredible and always super helpful, and even though I always get tatted by Danny, the entire staff never fails to make me feel like part of the family.

My daughter and I went to Stone Crow and saw Eric for small tattoos. We are beyond happy with our experience and can recommend without a doubt! 10 out of 10! Eric was extremely patient with both of us as we made adjustments to his/our designs. He is very calm and very professional. I went to have a fine line geometric tattoo done by Livia at STC after having not been to get a tattoo in well over a decade, so I was incredibly nervous. (I also deal with general social anxiety.) She was not only incredibly kind, accommodating, and professional, but she was able to get me to feel completely comfortable in her chair. (Important note: STC is immaculately clean and bright! That helped to put my mind at ease, too.)I had a very specific location on my arm that I wanted the tattoo to line up on and when the stencil (pattern?) didnt get to that point, she made sure to keep reapplying until it was absolutely perfect for me without me telling her to do so. Once she got to work inking the tattoo itself, she was astonishing. The line work was delicate and straight and perfect. She chatted with me about anything and everything and kept me comfortable the whole time.As soon as it was done, she made sure to help get me what I needed to know for aftercare, and let me know that if I needed any help I could just call. My experience was absolutely wonderful and I couldnt be happier with my beautiful tattoo. :)

I decided a few months ago to get a tattoo of my wifes name on my inner bicep. This was my first tattoo and Im extremely particular and detail oriented. I looked around for two months at various shops and tattoo artists instagram profiles to choose who I would go with.I was recommended to Stone the Crow from a coworker and loved Livias work. She was happy to meet with me before hand to go over exactly what I wanted. The day of my appointment, she readily made several adjustments to the design. She made the whole experience super chill and was incredibly pleasant to work with.Aside from her being great at her customer service, her work was awesome. Her lines are unbelievably clean. The curved edges and lines are perfect. I was terrified that I would be left with something I was unahppy with when I first went into the process. She exceeded my expectations and I will absolutely go back to her if I decided to get more ink done in the future. Id recommend the shop and Livia to anyone looking for an artist.

Scheduled a simple memorial tattoo with Eric, he scheduled us quickly for 3 weeks after our design meeting. The place is pristine, very clean and people are friendly. Eric did a great job with our matching tattoo. We will definitely come back.

I had the best possible experience with Steve, he and I worked on a large piece that covered my first mistake of a tattoo that harbored memories of an abusiverelationship. From consultation to final result he made sure that I was getting exactly what I wanted, and that in itself made me feel validated and comfortable. His 25+ years of experience really show in his work, the way he carries himself while hes tattooing, and the way he treats his clients. I highly recommend him or anyone at Stone the Crow. My niece had been asking for a tattoo for the past year. I told her that if she did the research about the tattoo artists in the area and went and did a consultation with them, it would be OK with me. So she met Steve at Stone the Crow! Went through the consultation and then scheduled her appointment!I took her to her appointment! Its conveniently located in Rockville off East Gude on the back side of the shopping center. Plenty of parking.Inside the shop is open and well lit! Theres a seating area with a pool table. In the area with the artists, each has their own space. Although open, they can provide a little bit of privacy with some curtains. Everything was so clean and organized!Steve did my nieces tattoo! It didnt take long but the detail and shading work is great! Shes happy with her first tattoo and is already planning her next! Ill be going back to get my own redone.

My wife got her first ink ever done here and they were 100% on top of their game. This place is clean to an almost surgical level. Everyone is super friendly. Danny did a great job making my wife really comfortable for her first tattoo and his work is absolutely amazing.

I got three tattoos here, one back in 2018 by Tina, and two a couple weeks ago by Danny. I really enjoyed my experience here both times. Danny was super friendly and chill. He was very efficient and professional, just overall an awesome person. My tattoos (two paw prints) turned out to be so much more than I expected and I absolutely love them. I cant recommend STC enough. I do wish there is a way to tip them to show my appreciation.

Went in for a redo of a poorly done tattoo. Megan was super friendly and helpful (explained to me things I should have been told by the prior place before the original tattoo). Celide corrected my finger tattoo, explained how to care for it, and truly gave a personal experience of care. Steve (owner) oversaw it all and was well-informed, funny, and helpful.

I met the owner Steve back in his old studio.I waited 6 months to get my ink done and was totally worth it.He is the best tattoo artist and person I ever met.And his associates are as good. I got other ink done with Kurtis and I must say, I have never got a better tattoo experience than what was provided me here.Greate environment, professional creative artists. They actually create from scratch.If you want to get a tattoo done, look no further!

I’ve been a client for years and had another great experience today at STC.The place is always spotless, the work is top notch and they are incredibly professional - even with the more difficult ones I’ve seen roll through.Today it was a young Karen who clearly had no idea what she wanted, and also seemed perplexed by the need to pay talented tattoo artists for their time. I would have sent her packing, but I watched Eric patiently deal with her nonsense and ultimately give her a great tattoo while she babbled incessantly on her phone.

I’ve been a with this place for about 5 years and I’ve consistently had the best experience! I’m bias to say Christian is the best because he’s been my artist for that long and he like all all of artist there are top notch, professional and know what they’re doing. I came here with a friend to get our first tattoos and they came out better than I couldve imagined! He got a big one on his back and I got one about 4 inches in diameter on my calf. His was done by Christian Kurtis and mine was done by Steve Labofish. I was impressed by how Steve took care to make it exactly what I wanted while at the same time offering suggestions. The place also sold aftercare kits in-store, for which I was thankful since Id never gotten a tattoo before and had no idea how to take care of a new one.

Thank you for a great first tattoo experience!! The shop is very clean and professional looking, and all the artists are extremely friendly and talented. My first piece was right on the ribs, beneath my breast. Christian was very gentle and worked quickly and efficiently! The final product is stunning, and I couldnt possibly be happier. Went to see Danny for my 5th tattoo (had 3 done by him prior), Danny always gets 5 stars for incorporating cool elements into his designs and being a chill guy in general, seriously, check out his portfolio if youre even remotely interested in American Traditional. The studio itself is CLEAN, well-appointed, and has an open-air design for those of you who dont like the feel of being tattooed in a broom closet (privacy curtains are there for tattoos that require them). Everyone I met was friendly and I would recommend STC in a heartbeat. Just dont make the mistake I did and circle past it twice in the parking lot, its underneath the Dunkin and there is ample parking in front.

STC is hands down the best place to get tattooed if you want a professional studio with absolutely stellar custom design artists and meticulous attention to detail during the entire process. Steve Labofish is highly skilled and extremely talented. He brought my Neo-Trad Japanese sleeve to life while exceeding my expectations every step of the way. Highly recommended!

After a few years of deliberation I finally decided to get my first tattoo, and after many hours of research I knew Stone the Crow was the right place.I cannot overstate how positive the experience was from start to finish. The place itself is exceptionally welcoming. The staff are extremely down to earth and sociable. They even let me pick the music we were all listening to for 2+ hours.I knew before the session was over I would be a repeat customer, and I stand by that

Had my very first tattoo done by Kevin and he was amazing. In my session, he was quick and super nice, gentle through the process and made sure I was as comfortable as possible. I went for a somewhat big tattoo as my first one, I was surprised how well it went. I love his tattoo art style and was not disappointed. I am POC and was worried how it would go in general, but he was respectful, attentive and answered all my questions.The shop itself have a relaxed atmosphere with great music in my opinion. Kevin went through the sterilization procedures and aftercare instructions with me, made sure I see that the tattoo equipment parts was in their original packaging and new before tattooing me (which was a huge plus). I highly recommend Kevin, especially if you are new to getting tattoos.

I got my first tattoo done by Eric back in November. It’s healed beautifully, and he spent a good amount of time working with me to make sure it was what I wanted. The piece means a lot to me, and I’m very glad I chose Eric to do it. He was very professional and friendly, and joked with me and the friend I brought with me. Their prices are very fair for the quality of work done. My tattoo turned out beautifully.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this shop and about my experience there today. After looking into lots of different shops and artists, I am so happy I went to Stone the Crow to see Steve for a colorful variation of my favorite musical artist’s logo with a lyric below it. The staff are professional and friendly, and Steve asked all the right questions to ensure I was getting exactly what I wanted. The end result is exactly what I was envisioning and I am elated! I wholeheartedly plan to return to this shop in the future and add more beautiful artwork to my body.

I had Eric as my tattoo artist. He was professional and easy to work with. It was my first tattoo and he made sure to go through everything with me so that I knew what to expect. The tattoo (although not healed yet) turned out well and looks like it was done by a professional (the straight lines are straight, for example). The shop is new and clean and the artists seem to take cleanliness seriously. All-in-all, it was a great experience and I would highly recommend Stone the Crow to anyone looking to get a tattoo done. It is maybe a little bit more pricey than other shops but YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

Kevin gave me exactly and even more than what I imagine for my tattoo. I gave him my idea, he ran with it, and created something better than what I envisioned. He is a very talented and meticulous artist; his line work is incredible. He truly cares about the client and making sure they get the time and dedication they need to create a good experience and more importantly, a great tattoo. He has a calm demeanor and light hand to allow what could have been a very painful tattoo, tolerable. There is no hesitation to me recommending him to others or for me getting another tattoo from him. I am so thankful I came to Kevin.

I had been searching for a local artist with a specific style for a long time. I finally came across Christian on Instagram and knew he was my guy. My experience from sending my initial email to receiving the tattoo was really smooth. Christian is a really great guy and his work is phenomenal! Id recommend him to anyone who is looking to get a very realistic tattoo.

I was lucky enough to nab a last-minute appointment with Christian last year. As soon as I saw the availability on Instagram, I rushed to call and make my way to StC. It was my first tattoo here, and I have to say the whole experience was great! The shop was spotless, really sparkling clean, and the staff was very friendly. Christian was a consummate professional, and his art is just astoundingly impressive -- the very reason I ran over to StC as soon as I knew he had a last minute slot open. Now Ive got an awesome new piece and a new appointment with him this March! I look forward to coming back, and also getting to know the other amazing artists and their incredible work!

Ive been going to see Danny for tattoos for over a year now. He started my sleeve when he was back at No Sleep Tattoo in Gaithersburg. At STC I got a crabby boi, thats super japanese and traditional at the same time. He healed perfectly. I love them all. He has a unique eye for color and has hundreds of personal flash designs to choose from if you need ideas.

When you drive an hour to get tattoos you know it’s real. The absolute best tattoo shop ever. Considered friends due to the constant love and great work that is demonstrated out of that place. My husband and I went to Stone the Crow, him for his 3rd tattoo, me for my first. We were so happy we chose STC. The staff were all friendly and nice. Started first sleeve here and absolutely thrilled! Incredible artistry by Steve Labofish and felt super comfortable from the second I walked in. All of the staff Ive met are fantastic, helpful, and enthusiastic. This is THE place to go for solid ink. I am indescribably happy atm!

Getting my 1st tattoo here was A M A Z I N G! I was nervous about speaking to the tattoo artist, and expressing what I wanted as well as the cost. I went to Christian via Instagram and then contacted him via the shop to directly get a consultation with him. The shop is amazing. Great vibes. We collaborated from the designs I saw online and made sure it was unique to me. The experience was soooo great that I got 2 more pieces from him! The shop is super clean and not stereotypically intimidating. His work is BEAST!!! Clean crisp line work, grey work and everything in between.... this is the man you want to see. I have spoken to the other artists and the receptionists; everyone is great and nice. By the way, Christian works on melanin skin (some artists in general outside of STC dont, so ask the shop or artist in advance; but chances are they will tell you up front). I will continue to go here and recommend/mention everyone that I speak to about this shop.... :)

If you had an experience like I did, then I do not need to explain the five stars. Steve is a consumate artist, combining his vision with client direction. My tattoo was a month wait for a consultation, six months before first session with four follow ups (three hours or more) and I could not be happier with the work, time, and care that went into into the process

Love the new location !!! There’s a pool table in the waiting area and is kept extremely clean, seats are very comfortable. Steve Labollish is currently working on my cover up piece! He’s done an amazing job so far! Couldn’t be happier with his work! Thank you so much, will be coming back for more art. Fantastic clean place, Christian is one of the most knowledgeable/ talented/ personable tattoo artists Ive met in a while. Really knows his stuff and made the whole experience a breeze!

Steve is a maestro and a great artist. I now have two superb tattoos he created from designs I gave him. One commemorates service by a family member with the Free French forces in WWII. The second, done just a few days ago, reflect ancient Kanji characters that symbolize strength and perseverance. So, two very different cultural and artistic themes, both executed perfectly by this talented artist.

Everything is great with this place. Easy scheduling and consult coordinated by Caroline and Steve is an awesome artist. He worked with my ideas to help narrow down the vision for my piece and I couldnt be happier with end result. Would definitely recommend and go back.

Awful the owner and the desk person very unprofessionals and rude!! DON’T recommend to go there, they called me 13 minutes prior to my appointment to move me to another time, when I asked for my deposit back they wouldn’t give it back they compared themselves to a doctor, they wanted me to wait for 2 hours, a doctor you need, a tatoo is a choice. Don’t trust them!

Id sooooo love to be rude in this review but only because the STC crew has a wicked sense of humour and Id dig to mess with them.The truth is, getting work done at STC is a quality experience all round. While I am not going to win any competitions as the Tattooed Lady, I have had 5 pieces done prior to this one, with different artists, in different venues, and STC is right up there in pretty much every category that counts to me.1. ARTIST: Steve is passionate, creative, approachable, patient, and humble while super-secure in his skill. More importantly, his work is on point. He is the real deal, no doubt, so its no wonder that he is as busy as he is. I would have preferred to see my art work a little sooner than I got to, but thats just the control freak in me. The piece looks awesome and I look forward to working with him well beyond it.2. STUDIO: Comes pretty close to 1, in my eyes. The space is clean, tasteful, feisty, and professional. Its the kind of place you would want to be if youre up for a 3.5-hour needling session. (Although, it is seriously lacking in the live crow department...)3. PRICE: Tattoos are art and good art should cost good money, period. Add to that the fact that youll be living with the chop for a long time, you shouldnt be a cheap-ass. STCs prices are completely reasonable, especially for the level of work being done. My piece cost pretty much what I expected it to.4. STAFF: Knowledgeable, personable, efficient, with a kind of family vibe going on. Which I really like. Nothing bad to say about anyone that I met there. (Hey, Big Eric!)5. AMBIANCE: Professional and fun. Lets be honest, if you are going to be in a studio for hours working with creatives, you want to see joy in the what they do. This team is loving it. Theyre working hard, theyre settling in, and theyre making amazing work in a beautiful space.Return again? Hell yeah.Recommend them? No question.

I was here for my 3rd and 4th tattoos from Kevin. Hes awesome and the shop is great. Very professional and cool and lovely in every way. I wouldnt get tattooed anywhere else!

Got a quart sleeve from Steve Labofish, who as been tattooing for years, and who opened this shop while I was getting tattooed. The new space is bright and welcoming, the service is excellent, and I got an outstanding new bit of ink. I highly recommend checking them out.

I really loved this place and Christian Kurtis was very professional and an amazing artist! This is my 5th tattoo and I just went in for a touch up but he made it look just like new. I love it even more than the original one! 10/10 def going back to him.

Cool people they are not arrogant like most tattoo shops only care about money nothing else. These people here are nice and take there time explaining things to you.

Danny was really awesome. I felt comfortable with the shops cleanliness. They are doing temperature checks and everything went smoothly.

Tried charging me 750 for a hand tat, how does that work, they go for 500 or below. They have poor customer service
