Finally got a chance to be tattooed by David and it was an awesome experience!The tattoo is stellar and so incredibly cool. His mastery of line work and shadows is second to none.On top of that we chatted the entire time about movies, games, and more. Before I knew it my tattoo was done and it was time to go home.Love my tattoo and David is the kind of guy you can grab a burger with and just have a good time.Highly recommend Moon and David, worth every penny. I’ll be back!

Macy (aka Macetatz) is the best! I’ve had three sessions with her, and each one was amazing. She’s super friendly, and I felt right at home with her. She nailed my vision, especially when she enhanced an old tattoo! It turned out perfect! Her talent and creativity are mind blowing, and she’s now my forever tattoo artist. I hadnt been to a tattoo shop in about three years due to my favorite shop bing out of state. I spent four months looking through local shops, looking at artists, and reading reviews from customers. This shop has far exceeded my expectations in cleanliness as well as artists skill. Im so happy with the tattoo Ive gotten and I will be booking there again. Honestly, its one of the better shops Ive been to. The artist that did mine, Jason Thomas, was a super cool guy. Again, I couldnt be happier. Definitely going to be booking through him for the foreseeable future.

My favorite shop with such TALENTED artists! Ive had work done by both Sabrina and Rita. Both excellent, kind, and super attentive to the needs of their clients. The ship itself is always clean, bright, and lively.

Sabrina was truly wonderful in every sense of the word. She created an entire scene for my tattoo out of a few things I listed as ideas. This illustrative character tattoo is beyond my wildest dreams and I’ve already gotten compliments hours later. The shop is full of friendly artists who made the time go by so quickly with laughter and conversation. I also want to mention, as I am a fat and tall person, that there was no issue for me at all today and I was comfortable the entire day. Sabrina is a supreme artist and person. I cannot recommend her enough and I cannot wait to get another tattoo by her.

Ella did such an incredible job! Not only was the artwork of this tattoo even better than I could have ever imagined, but Ella was so kind, knowledgeable, and fantastic to work with. This is my third tattoo, but first at Moon Studio, and the experience was definitely the best I’ve ever had. All of the staff are kind and helpful, the atmosphere is positive, and everyone is excited to tattoo!I would absolutely recommend Moon Studio, and if you can, ask for Ella. This tattoo is so special to me, and seeing them bring it to life was truly a dream come true!!!

I left a bad review and they deleted it. Do not go to Johnny Bravo because he does bad tattoos, he cancels appointments, and he gets mad if you ask him to resize or reposition the stencil after its been printed. Ive had 4 tattoos from him and they all came out bad. The last tattoo I paid $450 in full, he did half of it but then he got mad and never finished. I asked the shop owners for help and they did nothing, they didnt even respond. Heres some pictures of bad tattoos he did on me.

I had my very first tattoo done here and it was a great experience! I booked with David and gave him a very brief description of what tattoo I wanted. The day of my appointment he showed me the drawing and it was better than what I had pictured in my head.The process took a couple hours and it looked phenomenal after the shading was done.I’d love to come back here for my next one!

This place was really great! I got a tattoo by Tina Poe. She was on time, very sweet, patient, and professional. My leg kept twitching and I was in a lot of pain as it was a new area of my body that was being tattooed. She was very kind when I needed breaks or to stand up. She made the experience really great. The shop was super calm and relaxed for being a open floor. All the artists were nice! Would go again!

Scheduling and submitting a deposit was also very easy and all online. There were detailed instructions and policies which I found very helpful as a first timer.Moon Tattoo is a clean and cozy space with lots of cool plants and big windows. The other artists seemed very friendly and welcoming as well.Tina’s design took my idea and brought it to life! It was even cooler than I had imagined- she is an incredibly talented artist! She is very detailed but also brings in a special kind of magical take- just amazing!I was very nervous but Tina’s welcoming and calm vibes helped me to relax.Tina was also incredibly thoughtful and checked in on my comfort throughout the tattooing. She was also very gentle and light handed imo, I was very relaxed. I also got some great book recs! Not just an amazing artist and tattooer but a fantastic person that you enjoy spending time with.My tattoo is amazing and every time I see it in the mirror, it brings a huge smile to my face! There are so many good things to say about the studio and the staff at Moon Tattoo. Right off the bat, the space is clean and everyone is very safety aware during some of the worst times of covid in Austin. I had just recently gone to another tattoo shop in the area and it was as if masks or precautions for transmission didnt exist at all. But I felt so safe the entire time I was inside Moon Tattoo studio. There are also lovely displays of art and plants throughout the space, which I found very relaxing.This studio features many non-binary and queer artists which has been invaluable to me and my other queer friends who want high quality tattoos. It gets so annoying to not even be asked my pronouns in alt spaces that should be aware of that. I can look like a total goblin and still be called maam in other places. But this is not the case at Moon Tattoo. I was held and treated with respect and kindness in a space surrounded by those of my community.You can also tell that these artist really like each other. Its funny how different it feels to be in a studio that is obviously well managed and takes care of its artists. Everyone was friendly, happy and smiled at me when I walked in the door. What a breath of fresh air during pandemic times.Finally, the artists here are all very top-notch. They largely do black work but theres still quite a bit of variety amongst all of them- from the very cute to the dark and spooky. Be aware some artists there youll be waiting on for months, because their work is so popular. Others will be able to get you in pretty quickly. I got a custom piece from Tina, one of the owners of the shop. Tina was very kind and respectful and checked in on my comfort levels multiple times. And her work: detailed and thorough. Most of my tattoos are symmetrical and therefore need to be carefully placed so they are balanced on my body. I have never had any artist take the necessary time to place my stencil before Tina. She took the time to make sure my tattoo placement was just right, which I really appreciate considering its on my sternum for the rest of my life. Thank you again, Tina and Moon Tattoo. I may never get a tattoo anywhere else again.

Couldnt be happier. Jason was great! Not only he created a piece of art Im extremely happy with but he made me feel very comfortable (it was my first tattoo). I visited Moon Tattoo a few days ago and got my first tattoo ever by artist David Poe. I cant say enough how happy I am with the finished product! The environment and staff were very relaxed and pleasant which made my first tattoo experience the best it could be and put me at ease. All of the artist at this shop are very talented. I will definitely be getting more work done here and am already planning my next piece.

I received my first tattoo at Moon Tattoo and I am so pleased! Tina and Davids professionalism is impressive. The studio is in a great location; very clean and inviting. I was tattooed by Ella and Im over the moon with the results! Ella is such a talented artist, is easy to communicate with, and a joy to be around for a few hours. They made sure I was comfortable and happy with the design before we started, and did an excellent job of making our time together a fun experience. The studio felt super COVID safe which I also appreciated. 10/10, cant wait to be back!

I am a very indecisive person, thus the reason it took me 35 years before I got my first tattoo. I have followed Tina Poe on Instagram for a while and I absolutely admire her work. I am so happy that I decided to get my first (and second) tattoo with Tina. She made the process of scheduling and discussing the tattoo very smooth ,collaborative and seamless. I have never felt so comfortable with someone I hadnt met before as I did with Tina. I was a little nervous upon arrival but that feeling immediately depleted once I met her. Her energy is very calming , accepting and positive. The tattoo studio is very clean and full of beautiful artwork. I now follow each of the artists that work at Moon on Instagram and I think that they all do stunning work. I cant wait to go back for my next tattoo!

I was tattooed by Sproul! I had an ATM mishap right before my appointment and wouldn’t be able to get the money for the tattoo by my appointment time. He was very understanding and patient. About 45 minutes later I resolved my ATM issue and he was able to accommodate me and still do the tattoo!The tattoo is near an intimate area of my body and he made sure I felt comfortable. He was respectful and kind.I also didn’t a bring a snack and they got me one so I had the strength to go on with the tattoo 😂 great shop with great artist!!

This was my 16th tattoo and 1st tattoo at Moon. Ive gotten work done at shops in multiple cities including Austin, Portland, Houston, Nashville, San Marcos, etc. The work done by Tina Poe at Moon Tattoo in Austin is by far the best. Truly a great artist. Wonderful experience. The tattoo I got here is far and away my favorite. Highly recommend.

This studio was so cool! I love the environment and because they’re taking covid safety very seriously I felt very safe. Everyone is required to wear a mask and no one is allowed to take it off in the studio. If you’re looking for an artist, I definitely recommend Ella (@tinyloophole). They’re super nice and friendly and so artistically creative I can’t wait to go back!

David is an AMAZING artist! The scheduling process is super easy. He is very thorough during his consultations and takes pride in his work. He has done 2 tattoos for me so far, to include a cover-up that several other artists told me couldnt be done. ... and it is by far my favorite of the ones I have. People constantly comment on the detail and line work. Best of all he wants your feedback and wants to make sure your experience is the best possible. Ill be scheduling my next very soon!

BE AWARE, if they mess up your tattoo the owners will take ZERO responsibility. I went in wanting to get my first tattoo (quite a large one). Thinking I was in good hands, they provided zero guidance or basic communication. One of their tattoo artist etched a tattoo that was no where close to the dozen examples I showed them. It was clear they drew it in 5 mins right before the appt.When I told Tina (the owner), she straight up said they dont do touch-ups (to their own work?!?) and stopped responding.Can you imagine... something that is permanent on your body is given such disregard? I would expect a fast food joint to give more consideration than someone like Tina.

I was referred to David by some friends after complimenting their work. He posted a piece I really liked and we scheduled it on his online site. Everything was seamless and easy and he was super professional from the internal follow up to actual tattoo which turned out awesome. He gave me a great rate and I will definitely be back for more work from him. Hes a pro and Im excited to see the new shop.

This was my first tattoo with Moon Tattoo/David Poe and also my first large scale one at that! I liked Davids booking consultation process and how he opens up his books once a month on a certain time and day. I feel like this is beneficial in that there are no long waiting periods to see him, as youll get tattooed the following month, and gives everyone a fair chance at getting to work with him. There were *some* delays in the books opening up and the system itself is bit wonky. You can select a time, but if you dont fill everything fast enough, someone else who also selected your time slot, can claim it.....even though it says the spot is being held for you for a short period of time.We had an over the phone consultation (due to COVID precautions) and he was brief, polite, thorough. I had an idea in mind and sent over references but, to be honest, I completely trusted whatever he would come up with as all his artwork is truly unique and innovative. He is so talented!I got plenty of emailed directions on the whole new COVID process and everything is very easy to find on their website (kudos to the intuitive navigation and helpful information). I showed up prepared and v e r y excited on the actual tattoo day and everything went smoothly. I LOVED my design and he took a lot of effort and care to make sure it looked *exactly* how I wanted - both for my and his standards! He also mentioned to let him know if I have any issues after it heals and would like a touch-up. I appreciated that, as not all artists are that accommodating or patient.David has a relaxing demeanor and we had some easy convo towards the beginning and end of the session, as he was razor focused in the meantime. He is also a crazy fast tattooer and I was pleasantly surprised when it was all over.The shop itself is very clean, minimal, plant-filled (more kudos!!), and just has a comfortable air about it. Everyone there is so pleasant and seem to get along very well- immediately felt welcome and at home. I cant wait to come back!

Moon Tattoo is amazing! David and Tina Poe (the owners of the shop as well as two of the artists in the shop) are both incredibly kind and very professional. Johnathan Bravo is another artist at the shop (whom Ive personally had as an artist and gave me my most favorite tattoo I have!) I just love him and cant say enough good things about his work! All three of them are amazing artists and Ive seen first-hand the high quality tats they provide. The shop itself is great too! Nice, clean layout to the place and very nice touch with the matching work spaces! I highly recommend any of the artists here depending on what you want done and they definitely get 5 stars from me as well as a repeat customer and a great spokesperson for the shop! Just got a piece done from him and I couldnt be more pleased. He was very accommodating and easy going with the design process. Id like to think I wasnt that picky but I had a couple key elements I wanted included in the tattoo. He tweaked the initial design and when he brought out the sketch I was in love with it! 7 hours later Im in love with the finished result! Also his wife is super sweet and was very helpful with scheduling!

I got a tulip from Ella this past december and has an AMAZING EXPERIENCE! I was a little nervous, but ella made me feel very cared for and comfortable. They were so kind and their WORK IS INCREDIBLE!! I cannot wait to go back and get more forever art from them. and!!! I got a small portrait of my dog tattooed by Jonny Bravo about a month ago and its exquisite! Jonny is a true artist who wants to do work that hes proud of, so you can trust you are in good hands. He books up fast, but once I was in the pipeline to get on his books, it was easy to set up a consultation/schedule; hes very flexible on scheduling as long as you communicate if you need to reschedule or anything!The shop is super clean and chic; its as much an art gallery as it is a tattoo shop! My session with Jonny was super chill and he really makes sure to capture all the details of what you want. Id highly recommend him!David Poe, one of the co-owners, actually did an arm piece for me about 2 years ago that is absolutely beautiful, and I really enjoyed my time with him as well! Hes very friendly, personable, and professional. His wife Tina was there working while I was getting tattooed with Jonny and she seems like an absolute sweetheart. All in all, I think you cant go wrong getting a piece done by anyone here. One of the best tattoo spots in Austin for sure!

I dont know why I waited so long to make a review.For months, almost a year, I searched and searched for a tattoo artist/shop in the Austin area when I stumbled upon this quaint little shop on IG. Being that I had never gotten a tattoo before I was both nervous and excited to get a piece of artwork permanently inked onto my body.Their Instagram page does a wonderful job presenting the different artists work. There you can click the direct link to their official website where you can read up further on each artists style of work allowing you to pick the right fit for you. For me, that was Mr David Poe.His method of scheduling was super easy to follow with very precise instructions; books open up once a month with limited slots for a consult - you get reminded of his next scheduling if you follow him or Moon Tattoo on IG. After two months of attempted scheduling (he is in high demand these days haha) I was finally able to book a consult!When it came time for the consult David was brief, a great listener, and reassuring. I was even able to email him pictures and more in-detail notes on what I envisioned for my tattoo outside of the phone consult. I trusted him completely.Once it came down to tattoo day I was stoked. He explained the entire process thoroughly and answered all of my questions. The whole vibe at the studio was calm and comforting - I even managed to shut my eyes towards the last hour of my session. After the tattoo was finished we took some pictures and I was able to reschedule my next session with David to add to my sleeve!Moon Tattoo made sure to email plenty of instructions up to the date of the tattoo. They were/are very safe in regards to following covid precautions: masks are worn at all times, sanitizer is readily available, the shop doesnt have more than a few people in at a time, and the stations are spaced out well enough to follow social distancing guidelines.Speaking of, I had to cancel my second session due to recent exposure to Covid at my place of work. David was super understanding and he had no problem what so ever rescheduling.SUMMARY: friendly, comforting, informative, accommodating, clear instructions, easy to contact, easy to locate, exceptional art, very talented artists.
