Went in for a jewelry change and I left thinking everything was okay next morning earing was out I put it back in (no problem) and today (day 2) my ears are swollen guess it wasnt the piercers job to tell me the earring I brought in was too short for my piercing and I should come back with the correct size smh I guess anything to get a dollar. Now my piercings hurt more than they did when I got them done.. waste of money only gave 2 stars cause the front desk dude was really nice

Dakota gave me Medusa piercing today and was very professional and clean and she is very sweet I love her energy. The tattoo shop is clean and professional i definitely recommend coming here.

My friend and I went on a Monday, the staff was very upbeat, friendly and helpful. They were also very prepared. We didn’t have to wait at all and Bobby did an amazing job on our tattoos. In getting to know him and my first time at that location I can say that I will definitely be back as soon as I am able to finish up the work I want done on my arm. It was overall a very good experience and I highly recommend this location.

I visited World Famous Blue Horse Tattoo and Piercing on Independence Blvd today to get a nose ring and added an upper ear piercing. I was serviced Dakota and I was so very impressed with her knowledge and skills. I also loved the fact that she took her time with me. She allowed me to ask as many questions as I wanted. She gave me great advice on the type of post to consider for better sleep comfort and my hair style (long hair, especially locs can snag and pull certain earring types). She was also so patient with me trying to make last minute decisions about which side I wanted my nose piercing on and a last minute change to the size of my bezel. Additionally, Dakota gave the best post-care instructions Ive ever had despite having already had multiple other ear piercings. I just love it when you see the passion someone has for their work. Im so glad I stumbled into this shop and got lucky enough to get my piercings done by Dakota. I HIGHLY recommend seeing her for all your piercings. Thanks Dakota!!!

My daughter just received her first tattoo from here, and they have a beautiful setting for you to get inked up and relax. Everyone working there is so nice and cool. One of the best tattoo parlors in VA Beach. Burke Long was my tattoo artist and he did a phenomenal job. Even though his specialty is black and grey, my tattoo turned out exceptionally beautiful. Every artist is well rounded and they are super friendly and helpful.

Mondo did an amazing job turning my vision in to ink! He listens, he processes, and then you can see the gears turning with ideas to pull it all together for you. What a talented artist!

Everything went extremely well until i came back in and asked to add two lines to even my tattoo out. It mustve taken what...3 minutes? Tipped 40% the first time and 40 dollars for two lines, even bought the touch ups for life. But my artist was greedy and had me pay full price plus tip for 3 minutes of his time. Ive learned my lesson. Never get a tattoo ever again, and def not here which is disappointing after all the good things Ive heard.

I went in for a tattoo, looking to get a simple quote in cursive. The girl I had (calling her an artist would be a stretch) barely said a word and when she did I couldn’t make it out. She didn’t introduce herself or give me her name or anything.Unfortunately, I ignored that and just let her do her thing.Huge mistake.Next thing I know she uses a USED razor on me. Then, put the stencil on crooked and acted so put out when I mentioned it. I shouldn’t have ignored these things, but I carried on anyways. When the tattoo was finished, I saw that the cursive was all kinds of messed up - then cried on the way home.I went here because I’ve gotten work done here in the past and it’s been phenomenal. But after today I can’t see myself going back.If you get the blonde girl with bangs and an attitude - go somewhere else.

Went in for a WALK IN as the front door stated. Found out they only do it on the weekends which is totally fine but the artist was in the back and stated like tattoo artist are just sitting around didnt like the energy or the attitude. The front desk lady was very nice but I could see why the place itself was a dump! Nicely declined an appt and took my business elsewhere. Never will I beg to spend my money.

I got my first two tattoos here yesterday, and it was a great experience. The shop had a hardcore atmosphere and was clean and professional, but the thing that impressed me most was my tattooist, Burke. He was easy to work with, incredibly talented, and fair with his pricing. I appreciated the detailed after-care instructions as well. When I decide to get my next tattoo, I know where Ill be going.

After looking into several tattoo shops in the area, I decided to visit Blue Horseshoe Tattoo as a walk in. I had never visited the shop but they have two artists whose art styles I felt would be a good fit if either were to tattoo a completed design I had drawn and was readily able to provide. Yesterday, I went by the shop hoping to either have my design tattooed that day or to set an appointment up for a future date and time.When I first arrived, there was a group of people ahead of me that was talking to one of the artists. When the artist was finished with the group, he came out from behind the counter, passed by me, and walked away without greeting or acknowledging me.I didnt think it was a big deal and assumed hed be back when he got done doing whatever it was he needed to do before assisting me. As I continued to wait, he grabbed a bag of food and walked over to a table at the oposite end of the room, and sat down with a group of (what Im assuming were) other artists, who were all eating as well. I waited a bit longer hoping someone would acknowledge me when they could. Im not an unreasonable individual; I could see they were eating so I wasnt going to be rude and interrupt everyones lunch or break. But at the very least, I was hoping for someone, ANYONE, to say, Hey the shop is taking a staff break, do you mind coming back later? I would have been totally cool with that and understood completely. But not one person in the shop acknowledged I was there waiting to be assisted.At that point, not wanting to be rude or be left standing alone in the lobby any longer, I felt my only option was to leave. I left the shop feeling like I wasnt the type of client they wanted to bother with accommodating. The whole experience was as disheartening as it was frustrating.

I have been to Independence tattoo multiple times in the past year. They do very good work and many of my friends go there. I have had several pieces done by Armand and he does very good quality work, very reasonably priced. I normally come in with an idea and he always makes it better than I imagined. He even did a memorial tattoo for a friend of mine that another shop gave me a hard time about and made it look amazing. Ive gotten so many compliments on all his work. Im always well taken care of there. I would recommend the shop and Armand to anyone looking to get a tattoo, especially those new to the experience.

My dad recommended this shop for my first tattoo, as he had some of his sleeve done here. I felt welcome from the moment I walked through the door. The artists were respectful and Carson helped me figure out a good piece and worked out a good time and date for both of us. Ill be back for sure!

My husband and I went in to get tattoos for our honeymoon and had a great experience. Jarred did his and Pat did mine, they both turned out amazing and they were very friendly and professional. Awesome people both helpful and friendly. They were super accommodating and able to see me on a walk in. Jarred was able to fix a botched tattoo from somewhere else but also added a very intricate difficulty piece to my sleeve with clean immaculate lines and packed a lot of work in even on his day off and the best rate for going to find in town. Will definitely be coming back.

Have had multiple tattoos done by Jason (Juggy Fresh Tattoos) an have been extremely happy with them all. Clean line work, all healed well, patient and always getting my input with developing the artwork, and isn’t heavy with the needle. Highly recommend!

This was the most fun Ive had getting tattooed. Everyone at Independence Tattoo is friendly and super talented. I came as a walk-in and there have been a good amount of times where I’ve walked into a tattoo and piercing shop and they’ve automatically stereotyped me. From previous experiences there were those who’d recommend that I do different placement, sizing, that I should only get one done at a time since it’ll hurt, etc. Today I walked in and I was greeted by the nicest staff and they made me feel extremely at home and comfortable. They accommodated to my needs and answered all of my questions without issue. Even when I was very nervous and talked 100mph they talked with me and made it a good time. I was in for an hour and a half and it felt like 20mins. The quality is extremely nice and it didn’t take as long as I thought it would. They went over all care instructions. They even when going out on a run asked if I wanted them to bring me back a drink or anything. They made sure I was doing alright every so often. Definitely 10/10 would recommend. I’m even planning on going back in a week to get a couple more things done.

Jarred was very open to some artwork I brought in as a walk in and took time to make sure it was exactly to my liking. I since have been back to him and the artwork is always beyond my expectation.

I loved this place! After searching tattoo shops in the VB/Norfolk area all day, I finally stumbled upon this shop. I walked in and was actually greeted and was spoken to like a person. The staff was helpful and answered all my questions honestly. Came in yesterday and was greeted very kindly by the artists in the shop, gave the idea to them and set up my appointment for today to get a matching tattoo with my mother. Our tattoos came out amazing and love the detail and time that was put into them.

I went there twice in 8 months. The first time only one artist was there and I was told if I left a number and brief description another artist would return my call and work with me on what I wanted, I was never called. The second attempt was 2 weeks ago, more artist were there but they were unable to assist me. I again left my number and brief description of what I wanted and was assured an artist would contact me after they finished their haircut and maybe food run. I waited a few days and haven’t heard from them yet. I’m taking my business elsewhere as a result and won’t recommend them. I’m sure they do great work but I wouldn’t know personally.

Great shop. All the artists are exceptional in talent and in professionalism. Patrick Loud has done several pieces for me and I have yet to walk away disappointed... I cant say Ive ever seen anything Id be ashamed of talent-wise walk out of any of the other artists booth either. Now as far as what I would put on my body? Thats individual choice ;)Everything is clean, needles and equipment are sterile. This isnt a shop that I ever question my safety in. All the guys working here are super cool and personable. It has the old-school open booth layout, which can be a little intimidating if youre shy, but seriously, give it a go. Id rather not be closed into a dirty little closet with some random dude I dont know.

Came in here on a whim and was overly pleased with the work Patrick LOUD did. He truly does have hands of an angel, both he and his colleague where fun and added to the experience. Had a word tattooed on the side of my hand by the young black artist. He never introduced himself so I dont know his name. I think he was more concerned with hitting on me than giving me a quality tattoo. The L looked too much like the E and I had to have him fix it and make the 2 S look more alike. Lines were a bit shaky. Wouldnt recommend this artist. Charged $5 credit card fee. Would liked to have known before tattoo so I could have got cash. Besides that, love the atmosphere and old time music. Clean but not professional from my experience.

Went in with three other people to get the same tattoo. Honestly one of the best experiences Ive had. Jeff killed it and was consistent through all 4 of our tattoos. Would definitely recommend to everyone.

Walking in the building nobody gets up to greet customers especially when you have at least 5 people working. Then to be greeted by someone asking other employee’s “Do anybody have time today for a walk in”? Then to finally ask me what kind of tattoo do I want and ask me what time it is! It’s 5:15pm ! You close at 8pm. From the vibe of this establishment i give it a ZERO!!!! Customer Service Sucks!

Dude Burke is for real! Already have sleeves that are being redone/expanded theme so big risk on me. Tattoo artists with condescending attitudes and unfriendly service are becoming a thing of the past and in this new service based tattoo game, so come where the artists are friendly and open to discussing a new, a retouched or a total revamped tattoo with you.

This place is awesome! Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for an amazing piece of art work to be done! I was there about a month ago to get a memorial piece for my sister who passed. We scattered some of her ashes at the Va Beach fishing Pier on 14th street and so I wanted to get a heart shaped landscape piece looking at the ocean with the pier and a sunset in the background. I went to this place and asked if anyone was available to do it that day, and @pudge_the_tattooer (instagram) said he would take it on. He said that he would really like to have another day to draw up some sketches for such an important tattoo. Unfortunately I do not live at the beach, about 2 hours from it, so I said i really wanted it done today and he said okay come back at 7! So I did and the sketch was exactly what I pictured it to be so he put it on and the color came out so beautiful! It is a traditional style tat with different hues of blue in the ocean, a beautiful sunset with red, orange and yellow hues, and the pier came out just as great! He added three forget me knot flowers at the bottom of the heart to tie it all together! I am so happy I chose to go to this place and could not be happier with my heart tattoo

It took me 40 years to find Patrick Loud to create my first, second, third and fourth tattoo. Well worth the wait! Hes a meticulous perfectionist and creates masterpieces every time. I have been getting tattooed by Patrick Loud for the past 5 years; from Los Angeles to Connecticut to Virginia. His style, creativity and application is nothing short of mind blowing. I give him a couple references and verbalize an idea and/or meaning, and BOOM, he not only nails it, but he far surpasses my expectations. I love his place. The artists are friendly and the take your ideas and bring them to life. I have had three tatts done at this shop. The first one was done by Patrick and he brought it to life. He nailed exactly what I was looking for. This was a remembrance ro my father who had recently passed away. I could not have been happier.My second tatt was done by Mondo. It was also a remembrance tatt for my grandparents and he knocked it out of the park.My last was done by Mondos protege Lewis.
